It also comes on the land for seven years.” <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>And the woman arose and she did according to the word of the Prophet of God, and she went, she and the children of her house, and she dwelt in the land of the Philistines for seven years. <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And after seven years she returned and came from the land of the Philistines, and she went to cry before the King for her house and for her field. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And the King said to Gekhazi, the young man of the Prophet of God, “Tell me all the great things that Elisha did.” <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And when he reported to the King that he gave life to the dead, he saw the woman to whose son he had given life crying out before the King for her house and for her field, and Gekhazi said: “My Lord King, this is the woman and this is her son to whom Elisha gave life!” <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And the King asked the woman, and she told him, and the King called one Eunuch and said to him: “Return to her everything that is hers, and all the crops of her field from the day that she left the land even unto now.”<p> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And Elisha came to Darmsuq, and Bar Hadad King of Edom was ill, and they told him and they said to him: “The Prophet of God has come here!” <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And the King said to Khazail: “Take in your hand a gift and go to meet the Prophet of God, and ask the word of LORD JEHOVAH from him, and say to him “Shall I recover health from this sickness?” <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And Khazail went on to meet him, and he carried a gift by his hand of every blessing of Darmsuq, a burden on forty camels, and he came and stood before him and said to him: “Your son, BarHadad, King of Edom, has sent me to you and said: “Shall I be saved from this sickness of mine?” <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And Elisha said to him: “Go and say to him, ‘You shall certainly be saved! LORD JEHOVAH has shown me that you shall die.” <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And the Prophet of God wept. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And Khazail said: “Why does my Lord weep?” And Elisha said to him: “I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. Their cities you will burn in fire and their young men you will kill by the sword and their infants you will dash on the ground and their pregnant women you will rip up!” <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And Khazail said: “What! Is your Servant considered a dog that he would do this great thing?” And Elisha said to him: “LORD JEHOVAH has shown me that you are King over Edom.” <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And Khazail came from the presence of Elisha and he went on to his Master and said to his Master: “What did Elisha say to you?” He said to him, “Thus he said to me, ”You shall surely recover!” <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And the day after, Khazail took a robe and dipped it in water and covered his face and he died, and Khazail reigned after him.<p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And in year five of Yoram, son of Akhab, King of Israel, Yoram son of Yushaphat King of Yehuda was made king. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>He was a son of thirtytwo years when he was made king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And he walked in the way of Kings of Israel as they of the house of Akhab had done, because the sister of Akhab was his wife, and he did evil before LORD JEHOVAH. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH did not choose to destroy Yehuda, because of David his Servant, as he said to him that he would give him and his children a lamp for all days.<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>In his days Edom rebelled from under the hand of Yehuda and a King reigned over them. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And Yoram passed to Tsira and all the chariots with him, and he arose in the night that he would destroy the Edomites who surrounded him and his Princes in chariots, and the people fled to their tents. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And Edom rebelled from under the hand of Yehuda until today, then Lebna rebelled at that time. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And the rest of the accounts of Yoram and everything that he did, behold, they are written in the book of The Chronicles of the Kings of Yehuda.<p> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And Yoram fell asleep with his parents, and he was buried with his parents in the city of David, and Ekhazyah his son reigned after him.<p> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>In the eleventh year of Yoram, son of Akhab, King of Israel, Ekhazyah, son of Yoram King of Yehuda, reigned. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>Ekhazyah was a son of twenty two years when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother was Thalyah, daughter of Amri, King of Israel. <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And he walked in the way of the house of Akhab, and he did evil before LORD JEHOVAH as they of the house of Akhab had done, because he was the soninlaw of the house of Akhab.<p> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And Yoram son of Akhab went to battle against Khazail, King of Edom, at Ramath Gelad, and the Edomites struck Yoram. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/8-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And Yoram son of Akhab returned to be healed in Yizreil from the wound with which the Edomites wounded him in Ramtha when he fought with Khazail King of Edom, and Ekhazyah son of Yoram King of Yehuda went down to see Yoram, son of Akhab, who was
