EDGE (Economic Dividends for Gender Equality) certification is the leading global business certification standard for gender equity in the workplace. It measures the performance of organisations in terms of gender and pay equity, the existence of a framework - including policies and practices - guaranteeing equal career opportunities, and the promotion of an inclusive work culture for all employees.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAfter being audited by the independent certification body in September 2019, the UCI became the first International Sports Federation to obtain EDGE Assess certification on 23 October 2019. The UCI then pressed ahead with its efforts to obtain the second level of certification, EDGE Move. Audited in November 2021, it obtained its certification in January 2022, another first in the world of International Sports Federations. The EDGE Move certification recognises the quality of the UCI\u2019s internal policy regarding work flexibility, equal pay for women and men, the prevention of any form of harassment in the workplace, and the promotion of diversity and integration. This approach forms part of a series of key actions we have undertaken to promote governance that upholds transparency, equity, representation and respect for individuals. Our\u003Ca href=\u0022https://assets.ctfassets.net/761l7gh5x5an/2uOSbE8gAbYJWGZF6Zdb0c/83ce4e80c45d61ff20adcc23b43d382d/2021_UCI_CONSTITUTION___CONGRESS_EN.pdf\u0022 title=\u0022\u0022\u003E Constitution\u003C/a\u003E is unequivocal when it comes to our duty to ensure \u201Cequality between all the members and all the athletes, licence-holders and officials, without racial, political, religious, gender-related or other discrimination.\u201D Our Code of Ethics, updated in recent years, declares: \u201CThe persons bound by the Code shall not undertake any action, use any denigratory words, or any other means, that offend the human dignity of a person or group of persons, on any grounds, including bot not limited to skin colour, race, religion, ethnic or social origin, political opinion, sexual orientation, disability or any other reason contrary to human dignity.\u201D\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\r\nThe UCI is committed to increasing diversity in cycling. Over the last 20 years, cycling has made huge strides in terms of the number of athletes representing different parts of the world, thanks in no small part to the vital development work carried out by the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) through the \u003Ca href=\u0022https://www.uci.org/wcc-development/5MS5C58YJdBFKmIbmUDnfx\u0022 title=\u0022\u0022\u003EUCI Solidarity programmes\u003C/a\u003E.\r\n\r\nIn 2019 and as part of these programmes, the UCI supported more than 120 projects implemented by National Federations and Continental Confederations, for a total amount of 2 million Swiss francs. In 2019, the UCI allocated a total of 6 million Swiss francs for actions in support of training and the development of cycling around the world. This funding came out of the Olympic contribution the UCI receives after each Olympic and Paralympic Games.\r\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe UCI now has 201 National Federations on the five continents. In 2025, the UCI Road World Championships, our largest annual event, will be held in Africa for the first time in their history.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBeyond geographical diversity, the UCI wishes to ensure that all people, including those with disabilities, have access to cycling. With this in mind, the UCI has integrated \u003Ca href=\u0022https://www.uci.org/discipline/para-cycling/24eju96onGN1Fo94jnlhZK?discipline=PAR\u0022 title=\u0022\u0022\u003Epara-cycling road and para-cycling track\u003C/a\u003E into its Regulations and International Calendar. This includes UCI World Championships and a UCI World Cup open to athletes who compete in different sporting divisions according to their abilities (adapted bikes, tandems, tricycles and handcycles), as well as numerous other international events, not least the cycling events at the Paralympic Games.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe integration of para-cycling into the UCI\u0027s sports programmes is reflected, for example, in the inclusion of para-cycling road and para-cycling track competitions at the UCI World Championships for road and track at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships held in Glasgow and across Scotland (United Kingdom). They were the first point of contact with USA Cycling for families and future riders from diverse backgrounds, providing access to bikes and inspiration for kids who would not otherwise have such an opportunity.\r\nUSA Cycling licensed coaches, in conjunction with USA Cycling staff, hosted the camps, with their registration dependent on existing community networks and engagement activities. This was an organic way for USA Cycling to identify coaches in underserved communities, with mentoring support provided to fast track their presence and improve representation in the sport.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\r\nThese programmes are building towards future initiatives to help these communities introduce more safe cycling routes and infrastructure.
