class="entry-content"> <p>This summer the 19th annual <a href="https://or2024.openrepositories.org/">Open Repositories Conference</a> will take place from June 3rd to 6th at the Clarion Post Hotel in Gothenburg, Sweden. Over 300 submissions were received this year and the CORE team will be in attendance, presenting several areas of the work we have been undertaking over the last few months. </p> <figure class="wp-block-image"><img class="lazy" decoding="async" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%201%201'%3E%3C/svg%3E" data-src="https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/clEl16-aZ_iFYDAj5gEGn54uy94pXRkM-fBFrqIYYR8RrY96WOxJgSolPRkvxi3bekVyKIWvcWia-MQt0XqEOUnXHrFdrXMyXghdv9WssGBlKy5RoFr5b8giw8zVF70zOBZP8LHcCIaDDrPgj03jz68" alt=""/></figure> <p></p> <p>We will be introducing our work as coordinators for the <a href="https://blog.core.ac.uk/2023/11/07/sofair-the-open-university-to-coordinate-new-international-project-to-facilitate-the-reproducibility-of-research-studies/">SoFAIR (Making Software FAIR: A machine-assisted workflow for the research software lifecycle) project</a>, a two-year CHIST-ERA funded project which will improve and semi-automate the process for identifying, describing, registering and archiving research software. </p> <p>Also to be presented is some of the latest technical work the CORE team has been doing to deliver a range of new tools and services including identifying and extracting authors’ Rights Retention Statements from full text academic articles and the automatic detection of duplicate records in institutional repositories. The CORE team will also present their recent award-winning work on <a href="https://blog.core.ac.uk/2023/03/17/core-gpt-combining-open-access-research-and-ai-for-credible-trustworthy-question-answering/">CORE-GPT</a>, a retrieval-augmented-generation (RAG) based framework for providing answers to users’ questions, with the answers drawn from scientific documents hosted by CORE. </p> <p>Professor Petr Knoth and Dr George MacGregor from the University of Glasgow will present recent developments with the latest updates to the Rioxx protocol. This presentation will explore how custodianship is reflected in the Rioxx schema, and demonstrate how such modelling benefits both repositories and external software agents (such as harvesters and aggregators). The presentation will also demonstrate how Rioxx can be used to underpin aspects of open research policy monitoring.</p> <p>CORE will host a panel session on ‘<em>How to make repository content indexed and discoverable</em>’ with Martin Klein (Los Alamos National Laboratory), Paul Walk (Antleaf), and Jhon Rhendel (University of Glasgow) along with Petr Knoth and Matteo Cancellieiri. </p> <p>Finally, we’ll have a poster presentation covering the recently commenced <a href="https://blog.core.ac.uk/2023/11/17/us-repository-network-launches-pilot-with-core-to-enhance-discoverability-of-open-access-content-in-repositories/">US Repositories Network Discovery Pilot</a><strong>. </strong>As part of the project, CORE will aggregate the metadata and full text of articles from a subset of US repositories, allowing them to be findable through a centralised discovery service with prominent links back to the original full text of the repository. </p> <p>All in all it’ll be an exciting and busy few days, as Open Repositories always is!
