His reign is often considered a golden age for Israel, marked by peace and prosperity.<br><br><b>Early Life and Ascension to the Throne:</b> <br>Solomon was born in Jerusalem, and his name means "peaceful." He was chosen by God to succeed his father, David, as king of Israel. Despite being the second son of David and Bathsheba, Solomon was favored by the prophet Nathan and his mother, who played crucial roles in securing his succession. David's charge to Solomon before his death emphasized adherence to God's commandments (<a href="/1_kings/2.htm">1 Kings 2:1-4</a>).<br><br><b>Wisdom and Understanding:</b> <br>Solomon is most famous for his wisdom, which he received from God.
