Er wordt onder andere bepaald welke informatie moet blijven en wat eventueel weg mag.&nbsp;Je slaapt vaak in verschillende fases, waaronder je inslaapfase, lichte slaap, diepe slaap en je REM-slaap. Vooral je diepe slaap is belangrijk want dan maakt je lichaam belangrijke groeihormonen aan. En daarnaast worden afvalstoffen van je hersenen afgevoerd om ze vervolgens uit te kunnen plassen.</p> <p>Slaap je te weinig, dan ga je vaak slechter presteren. Zo staan studenten die slecht slapen gemiddeld zo'n 0,5 punt lager dan hun medestudenten.
