Our email list discussion of the Paris attacks covered a number of issues, including the inevitable question: what, if anything, should ICANN do in response? Some list subscribers concluded that the events had nothing to do with ICANN's mission, and that we should just sigh and move on. Others, on the other hand, said: not so fast, it would serve ICANN well to take a closer look at the matter, and its ramifications on wider world of ICANN. &nbsp;<a href="https://circleid.com/posts/20151129_the_cock_and_the_goat_icann_in_the_age_of_horrorism" class="red"><span class="readmore">more</span></a> </p> <div class="postInfo pipedLinks"> <ul> <li>By&nbsp;<a href="https://circleid.com/members/6833" class="blue">Katim Seringe Touray</a></li> <li>Nov 29, 2015</li> <li>Comments: 2</li> <li>Views: 10,745</li> </ul> </div> <h3><a href="https://circleid.com/posts/20140324_ntias_intention_to_transfer_iana_functions_to_the_global_community">NTIA &amp; You: NTIA&#8217;s Intention to Transfer IANA Functions to the Global Community Is Welcome, But&#8230;</a></h3> <div class="byLine">Related Topics: <a href="/topics/dns" class="red">DNS</a>,&nbsp; <a href="/topics/icann" class="red">ICANN</a>,&nbsp; <a href="/topics/internet_governance" class="red">Internet Governance</a>,&nbsp; <a href="/topics/policy_regulation" class="red">Policy &amp; Regulation</a>,</div> <p> It is no secret that both the US government, ICANN, and the global Internet community have argued and worked tirelessly for the past 15 odd years on the vexing issue of globalizing the US government's role in the IANA function. The launch was a culmination of thousands of hours of hard work by thousands of people from various countries, interests, and walks of life. In the end, a 338-page Applicant Guidebook with details about how the new gTLD program was to be implemented was produced. Thus was set the stage for the greatest cyberland rush in history.&nbsp;<a href="https://circleid.com/posts/20131215_mosque_and_bazaar_islam_icann_and_the_new_gtld_program" class="red"><span class="readmore">more</span></a> </p> <div class="postInfo pipedLinks"> <ul> <li>By&nbsp;<a href="https://circleid.com/members/6833" class="blue">Katim Seringe Touray</a></li> <li>Dec 16, 2013</li> <li>Comments: 1</li> <li>Views: 12,814</li> </ul> </div> <h3><a href="https://circleid.com/posts/20130901_icann_has_2_billion_reasons_to_support_developing_countries">I Had a Dream: ICANN Has 2 Billion Reasons to Support Developing Countries</a></h3> <div class="byLine">Related Topics: <a href="/topics/icann" class="red">ICANN</a>,&nbsp; <a href="/topics/internet_governance" class="red">Internet Governance</a>,&nbsp; <a href="/topics/multilinguism" class="red">Multilinguism</a>,&nbsp; <a href="/topics/new_tlds" class="red">New TLDs</a>,&nbsp; <a href="/topics/policy_regulation" class="red">Policy &amp; Regulation</a>,</div> <p> Last week, the 50th anniversary of Rev.
