<article id="fjp-article"> <p>Mumbai: Nearly 40 percent of overall progress in civil works was finished so far in the Mumbai Trans Harbour Sea link (MTHL) project. However, SVR Srinivas Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority(MMRDA) Commissioner told FPJ on Satuday that a lot of difficult and complex work is ahead of us. <br></p> <p>Recently, a review meeting was also held with the MTHL project team officials including consultants by the MMRDA commissioner to discuss the challenges in the project works and speedy resolution to overcome them. Besides, as the project has been affected due to various reasons including the prevailing Covid-19 situation, the Metropolitan Commissioner has evaluated the project cost and ensured the timely utilization of segments. He has instructed the officials to look into the height of the crash barrier to maintain the overall project aesthetics and emphasised on of the commissioning as per the previously targeted deadline of 2023 as against the delayed deadline of 2024.</p><p>MTHL once ready, will act as a crucial connectivity between Mumbai and Navi-Mumbai, including the remote areas. It has been planned to facilitate decongestion of the island city by improving connectivity between Island city and main land (Navi Mumbai) and enhance the development in Navi Mumbai Region. The underconstruction sea link was envisaged about 35 years back. But the project started only in April 2018.</p><p>Meanwhile, the MMRDA soon will begin the newly proposed Sewri -Worli elevated connector work which will be useful for to disperse traffic from MTHL
