highest standards of safeguarding training delivery by working in line with the National Safeguarding Team (NST) and the DSA in the development, design and delivery of training in the safeguarding learning and development framework. This will be in line with the Church of England policy, procedures and standards. To ensure that any disclosures or concerns raised during the training process are appropriately progressed. To handle day to day safeguarding enquiries and manage cases. The Diocese covers Peterborough, Northamptonshire and Rutland.<br /> <br /> <strong>KEY RELATIONSHIPS</strong><br /> <br /> The post holder is an employee of the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) and reports to the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser.<br /> <br /> Other key relationships include the Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser, the safeguarding administrator, the Diocesan Bishop, the Bishop’s designated safeguarding lead, Archdeacons and senior staff, the Communications Officer, the Dean and the Cathedral staff, those in licensed and authorised ministry and volunteers undertaking safeguarding roles and all participants in the training that is delivered in the Diocese.<br /> <br /> <strong>MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong><br /> <br /> 1. In conjunction with the DSA, develop, design and deliver a continuous high quality programme of safeguarding learning and development for all licensed, authorised and other identified accountable roles within the Diocese in line with the Church of England, NST and Diocesan policy, procedures and standards. This will include delivering of sessions via Team/Zoom (or other media) as well as in person.<br /> <br /> 2. Manage all administration in relation to training events such as invitations, registers pre and post course submissions reviews and feedback. Ensure that the relevant databases are updated to record training achievements and monitor/predict demand.<br /> <br /> 3. Develop a good understanding of existing diocesan learning and development provision for office holders, employees and volunteers and others and develop a working knowledge of Church of England NST training guidelines and standards.<br /> <br /> 4. Produce the Safeguarding Learning and Development Needs Analysis and Development Plan for the Diocese and statistical data to support the ongoing training programme.<br /> <br /> 5. Take the lead on the delivery of the safeguarding learning and development training programme, particularly to clergy and lay people in licensed and authorised ministries, commissioning training to wider groups where required. <br /> <br /> 6. Working with the safeguarding administrator to ensure that basic and foundation safeguarding training is visible and accessible to all providing additional support and alternative provisions to those who are not online in their day to day life.<br /> <br /> 7. Creating and maintaining relationships with Parish, Benefice and Cathedral Safeguarding Officers, Church Wardens and other volunteers who are active in key and other safeguarding roles in the parishes. To identify their safeguarding learning and development needs to signpost them to the appropriate training pathway and deliver some of the courses.<br /> <br /> 8. Contribute to the Safeguarding Newsletter and various other methods of Diocesan communication via the Communications Officer to maintain approved information flow and updates in relation to changes, best practice and any other safeguarding messages.<br /> <br /> 9. Provide ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions to parish volunteers. Quality assure delivery and provide feedback and signposting where appropriate. <br /> <br /> 10. In conjunction with the DSA, undertake continual evaluation, review and monitoring of the learning and development programme and other training materials so that they are kept up-to-date with new legislation, guidelines and best practice in safeguarding.<br /> <br /> 11. Proactively develop and maintain collaborative working and link with relevant diocesan personnel, for example, those responsible for children’s work, youth work, clergy and lay workers and as well with colleagues in other dioceses and the NST. <br /> <br /> 12. Attend national and regional briefings and training days provided through the Church of England NST.<br /> <br /> 13. Respond and prioritise safeguarding, DBS and other routine enquiries on a daily basis. Manage safeguarding cases allocated by the DSA, conducting enquiries, recording decision making rationale and utilising My Concerns and other Diocesan IT systems.<br /> <br /> 14. Engage in supervision and continual professional development, ensuring their safeguarding knowledge and technical competency remains up-to-date by embracing learning opportunities.<br /> <br /> This list is not exhausted and is intended to reflect your main tasks and areas of work. You will be consulted about any changes to your job description before they are implemented.<br /> <br /> <strong>OUTLINE OF TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: </strong><br /> <br /> <strong>Role:</strong> Diocesan Safeguarding Learning Development & Caseworker<br /> <br /> <strong>Responsible to:</strong> Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser <br /> <br /> <strong>Salary:</strong> £32,000. Any changes to this figure will be made by letter. Payment is monthly on the 20th of each month. <br /> <br /> <strong>Contract:</strong> 35 hours a week <br /> <br /> <strong>Hours:</strong> The normal hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday. Consideration will be given to flexible working arrangements. The role requires some evening and weekend working and working hours will be amended to reflect this. The post holder will be entitled to time off in lieu for attending meetings outside of agreed working hours. The post holder may also be required to work additional hours to meet the reasonable requirements of the role. Payment for overtime will not normally be made as the role older is expected to work such additional hours as are reasonably necessary for the effective performance of their duties. Time off in lieu may be taken at a time to be agreed with their line manager. <br /> <br /> <strong>Probationary period:</strong> Employment is subject to a six-month probationary period. After one month’s service and for the remainder of the role holder’s probationary period employment may be terminated by either party with notice of one week in writing. The Board reserves the right to extend the probationary period should a satisfactory standard of performance not have been achieved. <br /> <br /> <strong>Place of work:</strong> The main place of work will be The Diocesan Office, The Palace, Peterborough, PE1 1YB. The role holder will be required to attend other parts of the Diocese (Northamptonshire and Rutland) regularly as part of their role and will also be able to work from home. <br /> <br /> <strong>Pension:</strong> Subject to meeting the eligibility criteria the role holder will be automatically enrolled into the Board’s non-contributory pension scheme. <br /> <br /> <strong>Annual Leave:</strong> The holiday year is from 01 January to 31 December each year. <br /> <br /> The initial annual entitlement is 25 working days with pay per year. After 10 years’ continuous service at the start of the holiday year the entitlement is increased to 30 days per annum. An additional three days’ leave will be allocated by the Board to be fixed around the Christmas period each year.
