academic discipline, including journals, lectures and graduate programs. One of them is the presence of academic publications in the respected citation indicators such as Web of Science (WoS). The aim of this study was to examine the published studies in the field of Turkish language education in scientific journals scanned by WoS. In the study, data was collected through document analysis and citation analysis methods in order to understand the contents of the studies conducted in this field. A total of 128 studies on Turkish language education included in WoS academic database were examined and the findings obtained from the analysis were shown in tables. According to the results, information related to the most discussed and examined topics in Turkish language education, the countries and institutions that support the studies, the authors who contributed the most to the articles and the language in which the publications were more frequently made, and which keywords the authors frequently used, had been reached. TÖMER and Turkish universities are taught Turkish to foreign students. Although the reasons for the students to learn Turkish vary, most of them learn Turkish with the aim of academic education in Turkey. The Turkish courses are mainly offered with the aim of meeting the daily needs of the students. Therefore, it is inevitable to question the adequacy of the given Turkish language courses in academical terms. The fact that studies of teaching Turkish with foreigners did not focus as much as Turkish as an academic language and language problems in the academic education of Turkish learners became the rational for this study. This study evaluates the basic Turkish language that individuals learn in terms of their academic education, the language problems experienced in the academic education process, the opinions of individuals about academic Turkish learning and the opinions of instructors teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Within the scope of this research, a questionnaire which was about academic English proficiency and adapted from foreign sources in his thesis study by Doruk (2016) was adapted to determine academic Turkish needs analysis and was applied to the foreign students who continue their bachelor degree studies after having learnt Turkish from TOMER and to the academicians who have foreign students in their classes. The data obtained was examined in accordance with the possibilities provided by quantitative research. The main aim of the research is to determine the needs of academic Turkish language, to accelerate studies on academic Turkish teaching, to make contribution to the research and development of teaching Turkish as an academic language, and to present suggestions in the findings. Türkiye'de yabancı uyruklu öğrencilere, üniversitelerin Türkçe Öğretim Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezleri (TÖMER) tarafından Türkçe öğretilmektedir. Öğrencilerin, Türkçe öğrenme sebepleri değişiklik gösterse de, büyük çoğunluğu Türkiye'de akademik eğitim amacı ile Türkçe öğrenmektedir. Bu çalışmada, bireylerin öğrendiği temel Türkçenin, akademik eğitimleri açısından ne kadar yeterli olduğu, akademik eğitim sürecinde yaşanan dil sorunları, bireylerin akademik Türkçe öğrenme konusundaki görüşleri ve derslerinde yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler bulunan akademisyenlerin, yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerinin akademik Türkçe yeterliliği üzerine fikirleri değerlendirilecektir. Bu araştırmada kapsamında, Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi TÖMER'de Türkçe öğrenip lisans eğitimine başlamış öğrencilere ve derslerinde yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler bulunan akademisyenlere akademik Türkçeye olan ihtiyacı belirlemek hususunda Doruk (2016)'nın tezinde yabancı kaynaklardan uyarlayarak kullandığı ve akademik İngilizce üzerine hazırlanan anket akademik Türkçe ihtiyacını ölçecek şekilde uyarlanmış ve öğrencilere uygulanmıştır. Yine aynı tezden alınan ve İngilizce okutmanlarına uygulanan anket, akademisyenlere uyarlanarak uygulanmıştır. The documents examined in this study were retrieved from the Council of Higher Education Thesis Centre database. The keywords "Turkish for foreigners" and "Turkish as a foreign language" were used in the database search. As a result of the database search, a total of 50 quasi-experimental theses or dissertations that included information about the approaches, strategies, methods, and techniques were accessed. The basic qualitative research design was employed in the study. The examined documents were limited to those conducted between 2008 and 2020. The document analysis method was used to collect data. Using descriptive analysis, the data were classified based on the subproblems. It was determined that there were differences in the distribution of approaches, strategies, methods, and techniques in theses and/or dissertations related to teaching Turkish as a foreign language and that most studies were carried out on teaching techniques. In addition, it was found that most of the applications in the theses and/or dissertations were for the independent user level and that the researchers mostly preferred the areas of writing skills and vocabulary in their applications. The research identifies core problem areas such as teaching materials, teaching methods, student motivation, language proficiency, cultural differences, and teacher competencies. It also evaluates how these problems affect the teaching process. Findings reveal that students face difficulties in language learning when teaching materials are not aligned with their level, teaching methods are limited, and teachers lack sufficient training. Additionally, it is emphasized that strategies to increase student motivation and cultural awareness must be developed. It directs an education process in terms of approach, target, time, scope, stage, evaluation, and outputs. A well-structured curriculum is a must-have requirement for an educational process in which desired outcomes are targeted. In this study, the Turkish as a foreign language teaching programs of the Maarif Foundation, which is claimed to be the product of a long-term study and large-scale research in 2019, and Ankara University TÖMER, which was put into effect in 2015, were compared in terms of purpose, skill, acquisition, and assessment-evaluation. The basics of qualitative research design carried out the research. The data of the research were analyzed by the document analysis method. The use of Turkish language proliferated in Bosnia and Herzegovina regions particularly in the era of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. The advancement of Turkish as a literary language following the Conquest of İstanbul had repercussions on Bosnia as well. Turkish, Arabic and Persian courses were given particularly in madrasas where Bosnian people had education. Publication of a good number of Turkish journals in Bosnia, powerful Divan poets in this geography and high number of Turkish words in daily language show that this language has a sound structure in cultural sense. Increasing prestige, social, political and economic quality of Turkish all around the world today has increased the interest to this language. Yunus Emre Institutes, founded since 2008, are the centers for teaching Turkish effectively in more than 40 countries today. Yunus Emre Institute, Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Dzemal Bijedić University and Tercihim Türkçe (I prefer Turkish) projects helped rapid propagation of Turkish. There is a consensus on the fact that Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language must have a unique education method. Various studies have been conducted on this topic for many years. In our day when technology and information outdate too fast, a foreign language education equipped with modern and technologic means will offer much more efficient outcomes rather than classical methods. The research has been conducted among the classroom teachers, Turkish language teachers and the students attending the schools in districts and villages of Batman city. Descriptive model has been used during the research. Data considering the research has been collected through qualitative research.Semi-structured interviews have been carried out with the teachers and an effective usage of Turkish survey has been applied on the students to reveal the difficulties encountered and the solution suggestions considering these difficulties in teaching Turkish as a second language. Data collected from the interviews has been examined through descriptive and content analysis. Teachers' opinions about the difficulties encountered have been investigated with respect to the expected learning outcomes, content, learning process, assessment and evaluation of 1 st to 8 th grades Turkish curriculum, while students' opinions have been investigated with respect to their levels of Turkish, learning objectives of Turkish, Turkish learning and effective usage, problems encountered in learning Turkish and their solution suggestions for the problems.
