Check our <a href="https://journals.aas.org/submission/" target="_blank"><u>author pre-submission checklist</u></a> to make sure!</strong></p> <p>For additional detailed guidelines on preparing your manuscript, including data and graphics guides, see our <a href="https://journals.aas.org/author-resources/" target="_blank"><u>author resources</u></a>. <br /> <a name="Portal"> </a> </p> <p><span class="TITLE">Using the Submission Portal</span> </p> <p><strong>New Account Registration</strong></p> <p>To register a new account, click the “New Users: Please Register Here” link on the <a href="/cgi-bin/main.plex" target="_blank">submission portal homepage</a>. You will be asked to enter your last name, email, and telephone number so that the system may first determine if an account already exists for you. If the system determines you already have an account, your login name and a new, temporary password will be automatically emailed to you.</p> <p>If the system does not find an existing account in the database, you will be directed to the registration screen where you can enter in your personal information and choose a login name and password. You may log in immediately after creating your new account. You will also receive an email with your selected login information.</p> <p><strong>Modify Profile / Password</strong></p> <p>You may update your own profile information (such as your address, areas of expertise, phone number, email, etc.) or your password at any time. To do so, log in to your existing account. Click on the “Modify Profile/Password” link, displayed under “General Tasks” near the bottom of your screen.</p> <a name="Help"> </a> <p><span class="TITLE">Help</span> </p> <p><strong>Login Help</strong></p> <p>If you have forgotten or do not know your login name or password, click the “Unknown/Forgotten Password” link on the login page. You will be asked to enter either your login name or your first and last name. If a single account can be found in the database, the system will automatically send you an email with your login name and a new, temporary password. If a single account cannot be identified from the information provided, you will need to <a href="mailto:journals.manager@aas.org" target="_blank">contact the AAS journals staff</a> to reset your password for you.</p> <p><strong>Contact AAS Journals Staff</strong></p> <p>You can reach the journals staff by <a href="mailto:journals.manager@aas.org" target="_blank">emailing journals.manager@aas.org</a>. Once your manuscript is submitted, you may also contact the AAS journals staff by selecting “Send Manuscript Correspondence” under the “More Manuscript Info and Tools” header on the manuscript details screen.</p> <a name="Next"> </a> <p><span class="TITLE">Next Steps</span> </p> <ol> <li><strong>Manuscript Submission</strong> <p>When you’re ready to submit your manuscript, return to the <a href="/cgi-bin/main.plex" target="_blank">submission portal homepage</a> and click “Submit Manuscript”. The system will guide you through your manuscript file upload and ask you to provide additional information about your submission.</p> </li> <li><strong>Peer Review</strong> <p>A Scientific Editor will assign your manuscript to a (or multiple) peer reviewer(s), who will prepare a report. The Scientific Editor will then decide whether to accept or reject the manuscript or request revisions. The AAS Data Editors and the AAS Statistics Editor may also provide input and support during the peer review stage.</p> </li> <li><strong>Production</strong> <p>Once revisions are complete and your manuscript has been accepted, it will be passed to our publishing partner, IOP Publishing. The production team there will be in contact with you to go over proofs of your final article.</p> </li> </ol> <p>You may check the status of your submitted manuscript at any time by logging in to the <a href="https://aas.msubmit.net/" target="_blank">submission portal</a>, clicking the “Live Manuscripts” link, and selecting “View Manuscript” for the appropriate manuscript.
