الجيش الاميركي ان السرجنت فرانك ووتريتش الذي اقر الاثنين امام محكمة عسكرية بتهمة التقصير في اداء الواجب في قضية مذبحة حديثة التي راح ضحيتها 24 عراقيا في 2005، لن يدخل السجن. وحكم على السرجنت ووتريتش بالسجن 90 يوما ولكنه لن ينفذ هذه العقوبة لاسباب اجرائية، كما قال المتحدث.</p> <p>والسرجنت ووتريتش هو المتهم الاخير في القضية التي برىء فيها جميع المتهمين الباقين.وقال المتحدث باسم قاعدة بندلتون العسكرية في كاليفورنيا حيث جرت المحاكمة منذ بداية الشهر امام محكمة عسكرية "اتفقت السلطات المختصة على استبعاد عقوبة السجن".واقر السرجنت الذي تم انزال رتبته الى مجرد جندي والبالغ من العمر 31 عاما، بالذنب في تهمة التقصير في اداء الواجب، الاثنين في اطار صفقة مع الادعاء، على اساس سحب اتهامات القتل غير العمد.وفي 19 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2005، قتل 19 عراقيا في عدة منازل وخمسة كانوا في سيارة توقفت قرب المكان عندما اطلق عليها الجنود الاميركيون النار واردوهم، في احدى الجرائم الاكثر اثارة للجدل التي تتورط فيها القوات الاميركية خلال الحرب التي استمرت حوالى تسعة اعوام في العراق.وبين الضحايا عشر نساء او اطفال قتلوا من مسافة قريبة جدا.وكان الادعاء العسكري اتهم السرجنت ووتريتش في اليوم الاول لمحاكمته الاثنين بانه امر رجاله "باطلاق النار اولا ومن ثم طرح الاسئلة" ما تسبب بمقتل 24 مدينا عراقيا عام 2005.وقال الاتهام ان الجنود ورغم عدم وجود مقاتلين مناوئين لهم، نفذوا المذبحة خلال ثلاث ساعات للانتقام لمقتل رفيق لهم في انفجار قنبلة.وفرانك ووتريتش اخر متهم في هذه القضية بعد ان برئ المتهمون السبعة unicode-bidi: bidi-override; direction: ltr"> <blockquote> <p>Recent reports have drawn attention to increases in congenital birth anomalies and cancer in Fallujah Iraq blamed on teratogenic, genetic and genomic stress thought to result from depleted Uranium contamination following the battles in the town in 2004. Contamination of the parents of the children and of the environment by Uranium and other elements was investigated using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry. Hair samples from 25 fathers and mothers of children diagnosed with congenital anomalies were analysed for Uranium and 51 other elements. Mean ages of the parents was: fathers 29.6 (SD 6.2); mothers: 27.3 (SD 6.8). For a sub-group of 6 women, long locks of hair were analysed for Uranium along the length of the hair to obtain information about historic exposures. Samples of soil and water were also analysed and Uranium isotope ratios determined.</p> <h3>Results</h3> <p>Levels of Ca, Mg, Co, Fe, Mn, V, Zn, Sr, Al, Ba, Bi, Ga, Pb, Hg, Pd and U (for mothers only) were significantly higher than published mean levels in an uncontaminated population in Sweden. In high excess were Ca, Mg, Sr, Al, Bi and Hg. Of these only Hg can be considered as a possible cause of congenital anomaly. Mean levels for Uranium were 0.16 ppm (SD: 0.11) range 0.02 to 0.4, higher in mothers (0.18 ppm SD 0.09) than fathers (0.11 ppm; SD 0.13). The highly unusual non-normal Fallujah distribution mean was significantly higher than literature results for a control population Southern Israel (0.062 ppm) and a non-parametric test (Mann Whitney-Wilcoxon) gave p = 0.016 for this comparison of the distribution. Mean levels in Fallujah were also much higher than the mean of measurements reported from Japan, Brazil, Sweden and Slovenia (0.04 ppm SD 0.02). Soil samples show low concentrations with a mean of 0.76 ppm (SD 0.42) and range 0.1-1.5 ppm; (N = 18). However it may be consistent with levels in drinking water (2.28 μgL<sup>-1</sup>) which had similar levels to water from wells (2.72 μgL<sup>-1</sup>) and the river Euphrates (2.24 μgL<sup>-1</sup>). In a separate study of a sub group of mothers with long hair to investigate historic Uranium excretion the results suggested that levels were much higher in the past. Uranium traces detected in the soil samples and the hair showed slightly enriched isotopic signatures for hair U238/U235 = (135.16 SD 1.45) compared with the natural ratio of 137.88. Soil sample Uranium isotope ratios were determined after extraction and concentration of the Uranium by ion exchange. Results showed statistically significant presence of enriched Uranium with a mean of 129 with SD5.9 (for this determination, the natural Uranium 95% CI was 132.1 < Ratio < 144.1).</p> <h3>Conclusions</h3> <p>Whilst caution must be exercised about ruling out other possibilities, because none of the elements found in excess are reported to cause congenital diseases and cancer except Uranium, these findings suggest the enriched Uranium exposure is either a primary cause or related to the cause of the congenital anomaly and cancer increases. Questions are thus raised about the characteristics and composition of weapons now being deployed in modern battlefields</p> </blockquote> <p><strong>Read in full: </strong><a والتكنولوجيا ان العراق بات يحتل مركز الصدارة بين دول العالم في حالات التشوه الخلقي بين الولادات الجديدة. وقال الخبير في الوزارة بمجال المواد الخطرة الدكتور منجد عبد الباقي النائب في تصريح صحفي اليوم، ان العراق احتل مركز الصدارة بين الدول الأخرى في ارتفاع حالات التشوهات الخلقية الحاصلة فيه نسبة الى عدد السكان المتواجدين فيه، مشيراً الى ان هذه التشوهات جاءت نتيجة للحروب التي خاضها العراق وخصوصاً الحرب الأخيرة عام 2003. وبين ان العراق كانت له دراسات عن نسبة التشوهات الخلقية للسكان قبل خوض حربي الخليج الثانية والثالثة وبعدهما حيث أظهرت ارتفاع حالات الشوه الخلقي والتي تكون في اغلب الأحيان غير طبيعية. وكان وزير الدفاع البريطاني ليام فوكس قال في رسالة مكتوبة الى مجلس العموم البريطاني، إن القوات البريطانية والامريكية استخدمت اليورانيوم المنضب في العراق في العام 2003. وأشار إلى ان القوات البريطانية استخدمت 1.9 طن متري من ذخيرة اليورانيوم المنضب في الحرب على العراق عام 2003. ويأتي هذا التصريح في أعقاب دراسة مشتركة اجرتها وزارات البيئة والصحة والعلوم في العراق، حيث وجدت الدراسة ان نحو 40 موقعاً في مختلف مناطق العراق تعاني تلوثاً بمستويات عالية من الاشعاعات والمواد السامة مثل مادة الدايوكسين. وقال فوكس ان وزارة الدفاع البريطاني زودت برنامج الأمم المتحدة البيئي بأسماء المواقع التي هوجمت باستخدام الذخيرة المحتوية على اليورانيوم المنضب، مشيراً الى أن الوزارة تبادلت المعلومات مع المنظمات الانسانية وغيرها وقامت بتحذير العراقيين عبر اللافتات والعلامات التي تشير الى عدم لمس أي من and Shi’ite militiamen are routinely tortured or abused by Iraqi security forces to extract confessions early in their detention and interrogation, Iraqi military officials say.</p> <p>Six Iraqi security officials, including two high-ranking officers, as well as former detainees and lawyers, told Reuters that prisoners are beaten, stomped on or strung up by their hands during arrest and preliminary interrogations.</p> <p>Suspects are beaten and trampled when they resist arrest and are sometimes tortured when they provoke interrogators by showing "enjoyment" or "pride," a senior military official familiar with military jails in Baghdad told Reuters.</p> <p>"Some suspects delight in the narrative details of how they murdered their victims. In response, some investigators slap them or kick them or order them hung up (by the arms)," he said, asking for anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.</p> <p>Iraq’s Supreme Judiciary Council received more than 400 complaints last year from detainees or their families, accusing Iraqi military interrogators of torture or abuse. In only 90 cases did a court take up the allegations and launch a probe.</p> <p>Iraq’s Human Rights Ministry, responding to the information obtained by Reuters, said inspection teams still record abuse cases during prison visits but the number is falling.</p> <p>"Cases of violations and irregularities … are not a phenomenon … not systemic, but a very limited number of individual cases," ministry spokesman Kamil Amine said.</p> <p>Torture was widespread under the late dictator Saddam Hussein, ousted in the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. Disclosures in 2004 that U.S. jailers had abused and sexually humiliated Iraqis at Abu Ghraib prison outraged many Iraqis and may have fueled the insurgency.</p> <p>Iraq’s elected authorities last year promised to crack down on continuing abuse of prisoners in Iraq, where human rights groups have warned torture of detainees by security forces has been systematic as they fight a waning insurgency.</p> <p>Terrorism suspects often are held at the Camp Cropper prison near Baghdad airport, or Camp Honor, inside the Iraqi capital’s heavily fortified Green Zone.</p> <p>U.S.-based Human Rights Watch said in a February 1 report that security forces torture inmates at Camp Honor, citing interviews with former detainees.</p> <p>In a new report on prisoner abuse in Iraq issued Tuesday, Amnesty International said urgent action was needed to end a "pattern of abuse" in Iraqi detention centers.</p> <h3>THE FOURTH AREA</h3> <p>Many preliminary terrorism interrogations take place at Camp Cropper, a former U.S. detention center turned over to the Iraqis last year and renamed Camp al-Karkh, in a little-known place called the "Fourth Area," Iraqi security officials said.</p> <p>"It is a place for the detention of prisoners in accordance with article 4 of the terrorism (law), so it is named after that," a senior officer from Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Squad said. "The interrogations in this area are brutal, more brutal than the interrogations in Camp Honor."</p> <p>Cropper was the last U.S. prison in Iraq and its handover ended a difficult chapter of the U.S. invasion in which thousands of people were held without charge.</p> <p>In the most common methods of abuse, suspects are kicked, beaten with pieces of electric cable, hung by the arms, or burned with cigarettes, and hot metal or given electrical shocks, security officials and lawyers said.</p> <p>"Some detainees have died as a result of torture. just a little over a year after the U.S. invasion of Iraq and before the sectarian violence began, the Iraqi Association of University Teachers (AUT) reported that <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/story.asp?storyCode=191084&sectioncode=26" class="external" target="_blank">250 academics had been killed</a>. Award-winning British journalist Robert Fisk <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/article.asp?ID=2042" class="external" target="_blank">had warned</a> early that year of the assassinations of Iraqi academics, but few U.S. newspapers picked up on the story.  By the end of 2006, according to<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/higher/iraqs-universities-are-in-meltdown-427316.html" class="external" target="_blank"> <em>The Independent</em></a>, over 470 academics had been killed. Another British paper, <em>The Guardian</em>, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2006/dec/12/internationaleducationnews.highereducation" class="external" target="_blank">reported</a> that about 500 academics were killed just from the Universities of Baghdad and Basra alone.</p> <p>Based on multiple sources, the B<em>Russell</em>s Tribunal sifted through such reports and <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.brusselstribunal.org/Academics.htm" class="external" target="_blank">published on its website</a> the names of over 400 murdered academics and when they were killed. Although the exact total number of assassinated academics is not really known, the indefatigable advocate for human rights Dirk Adriaensens gives a detailed analysis of the data available so far in his contribution to the book <em><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://us.macmillan.com/culturalcleansinginiraq" class="external" target="_blank">Cultural Cleansing in Iraq</a></em>. According to Adriaensens, most of those killed were from the Universities of Bagdad (57 percent) and Basra (14 percent). In addition, 35 percent died in detention after being arrested/kidnapped by some security forces. The modus operandi for the killings was a professional, well-organized assassination. Fifty-four percent of the deaths occurred as a targeted killing, at point-blank range with hand guns or automatic weapons. The killing of academics did not follow any sectarian agenda since the murdered were Sunni and Shia. No one has taken responsibility for the killings, and no one has been arrested.</p> <p>The reports of these murdered Iraqi academics have been around for a few years, mostly in the foreign press and on websites. I admit to an initial skepticism about their veracity. I was even more concerned about who was responsible for these heinous crimes and why. Iraqis living in Iraq knew of these murders first-hand, but did not know the culprits. Their suspicions fell naturally on the occupying power.</p> <p>Along with these tragic deaths was the concomitant wave of death threats and intimidation against other Iraqi academics, which resulted in tens of thousands of Iraqi academics literally running abroad for their life. <em>The Washington Post </em>recently described the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/23/AR2010112306747.html" class="external" target="_blank">plight of one Iraqi family</a> living in the United States after the husband, a professor, was assassinated and the wife, a physician, survived but gravely wounded. For some, the escape abroad was only temporary. A<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://iraqiacademicsunderattack.wordpress.com/2010/10/27/two-iraqi-academics-killed-after-their-returning-to-iraq-english-arabic-castellano/" class="external" target="_blank"> professor and a dean</a> who left and returned in the past six months to Iraq were professionally assassinated.  Iraq has suffered the decapitation of its intellectual class on a staggering scale, which has thrown the country back to the dark ages.</p> <p>According to the new revelations of Wikileaks, in some cases the United States, through the military, contractors, and others, killed innocent Iraqi civilians including women and children. As a matter of policy we handed over Iraqi detainees to Iraqi security forces with full knowledge that they would be subjected to torture, rape, and murder. Moreover, when our military received the reports of torture, rape, and murder it chose to ignore them. Such a policy is contrary to international law, U.S. laws, and American values.</p> <p>It’s not clear whether the U.S. government or the U.S. military knows who assassinated the Iraqi academics. We don’t know if U.S. officials or military commanders looked the other way when local security forces committed those crimes. But the Wikileaks documents raise many disturbing questions about a possible U.S. role in these assassinations. Even the Gulf Cooperation Council, and its half-dozen U.S.-friendly Arab members, has <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5hiUt15hxCn1JG0tU8iLw_Oj6yb8A?docId=CNG.1c29e0b64ef02ac621d8a8911f61ba89.191" class="external" target="_blank">called on</a> the Obama administration to "open a serious and transparent investigation" into possible "crimes against humanity."</p> <p>The evidence so far is sufficient to warrant a thorough investigation by an independent body. birth defects in the Iraqi city of Falluja has for the first time concluded that genetic damage could have been caused by weaponry used in US assaults that took place six years ago.</p> <p>The research, which will be published next week, confirms earlier <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130127035518/http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/nov/13/falluja-cancer-children-birth-defects" class="external" target="_blank">estimates revealed by the Guardian of a major, unexplained rise in cancers and chronic neural-tube, cardiac and skeletal defects in newborns</a>. The authors found that malformations are close to 11 times higher than normal rates, and rose to unprecedented levels in the first half of this year – a period that had not been surveyed in earlier reports.</p> <p>The findings, which will be published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, come prior to a much-anticipated World Health Organisation study of Falluja’s genetic health. They follow two alarming earlier studies, one of which found a distortion in the sex ratio of newborns since the invasion of <a سوغ الجندي الارهابي الأميركي ستيفن غرين قيامه <p>مشيراً الى ان العنف المتفشي والتعليقات المهينة من جنود أميركيين ضد العراقيين اسهما في سلب آدمية السكان المدنيين في ذلك البلد )،واضاف أما نقطة التحول التي أصابتني بالجنون فقد حدثت في 10 كانون الاول 2005 ، عندما قتل عراقي ممن كانوا في السابق ودودين تجاهنا زميلي العريف ترافيس نيلسون 41 عاماً والعريف كينيث كازيكا، 32 عاماً عند نقطة تفتيش، فقد ضخم موتهما مشاعر الكراهية في نفسي تجاه العراقيين، وأضاف لا أجد كلمة يمكن أن تصف مدى كراهيتي للعراقيين، إذ لم أفكر أن هؤلاء الناس ينتمون للجنس البشري.   <br/>ووصف غرين كيف حاول عقب ارتكاب جريمته الحصول على مساعدة نفسية من الجيش الأميركي ولم يفلح ،فأدمن كبقية الجنود الأميركيين في العراق على تعاطي المخدرات وشرب الكحول.واصدرت محكمة مدنية أميركية في 4 ايلول 2009 على غرين بالسجن المؤبد خمس مرات اي مايعادل 150 عاماً ، لكن جلسة استئناف ستعقد في 21 من الشهر المقبل في محكمة الدائرة السادسة الأميركية للمطالبة بإعادة محاكمته أمام محكمة عسكرية أسوة بزملائه، إذ يرفض غرين محاكمته أمام القضاء المدني، الذي حكم عليه بموجب قانون محاكمة الأميركيين ممن ارتكبوا جرائم خارج الحدود، لكونه كان في الخدمة العسكرية أثناء ارتكاب جريمته. <br/>وشارك ثلاثة جنود آخرين غرين جريمته بمعرفة جندي آخر لم يشاركهم حيث خططوا لارتكاب الجريمة أثناء شرب الويسكي ولعب الورق وكانوا موجودين عند نقطة تفتيش قريبة من منزل الضحايا في المحمودية ، فبدلوا ملابسهم قبل ارتكاب الجريمة لإبعاد الشبهات عنهم والإيحاء بأن متمردين ارتكبوا الجريمة، ودخلوا إلى منزل عائلة عبير الجنابي 14 عاماً، وبينما كان الجنود الثلاثة يتناوبون على اغتصاب عبير ، اقتاد غرين أمها وأباها وشقيقتها الصغرى 5 أعوام إلى غرفة مجاورة وقتلهم ، ثم عاد ليغتصب الفتاة، قبل ان يطلق النار على رأسها. وبعد ذلك أحرقوا جثة الفتاة وملابسهم في محاولة لمحو آثار الجريمة، كما أحرقوا المنزل والجثث، إمعاناً في محو اثار الجريمة</p> <p>الذي شارك فيها القضاء الامريكي المنحط  حيث حكم الاسلحة الامريكية والبريطانية التي تم القاؤها على العراق خلال العدوان الجسد العراقي  الى  هيكل تنهش فيه الامراض وخاصة السرطان الذي بدأ ينتشر بين العراقيين كما تنتشر النار في الهشيم. فقد أعلنتْ مستشفى هيوا الحكومي بمحافظة السليمانية، </p> <p>عن أن ما لا يقل عن أربعة آلاف إصابة بالسرطان سجلت خلال الثلاث سنوات الماضية بالعراق،فيما أكد أن أغلب تلك الإصابات كانت بالسليمانية.وقال مدير المستشفى طالب توفيق خلال مؤتمر صحفي،إنه ‘بحسب إحصاءات مستشفى هيوا لمعالجة مرضى السرطان فأن ما لا يقل عن أربعة آلآف إصابة بالسرطان تم تسجيلها خلال الثلاث سنوات الماضية فقط’، مضيفا أن ‘أغلب تلك الإصابات سجلت داخل مدينة السليمانية، و30′ سجلت بمحافظات كركوك وصلاح الدين وبغداد والمحافظات الجنوبية’.وأوضح توفيق أن ‘تلوث البيئة والمواد الغذائية والإشعاعات الكيمياوية هي عوامل للإصابة بالمرض’،مؤكدا أن ‘النساء والأطفال يشكلون النسبة الأكبر في عدد المصابين’.ودعا توفيق إلى’تقديم المساعدة إلى المصابين بالمرض، لأن أغلبهم من الفقراء والمحتاجين وغير القادرين على شراء الدواء بسبب غلائه’.يذكر أن وزارة الصحة في إقليم كردستان قد أعلنت في نيسان/ابريل من العام الحالي أن مرض السرطان يشكل خطرا جديا على حياة المواطنين بسبب الأوضاع البيئة المتردية بالمحافظة،والتي يرجح أختصاصيون أسبابها إلى عدم وجود رقابة صحية جدية على المواد
