mathematical approach with the fractional calculus which is developed to have the ability to continuously analyze the factors related to the children’s height development. Until now, tracking the development of the child is getting more important and meaningful. Knowing and determining the factors related to the physical development of the child any desired time would provide better, reliable and accurate results for childcare. In this frame, 7 groups for height percentile curve (3th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 97th) of Turkey are used. By using discrete height data of 0-18 years old children and the least squares method, a continuous curve is developed valid for any time interval. By doing so, in any desired instant, it is possible to find the percentage and location of the child in Percentage Chart. Here, with the help of the fractional calculus theory, a mathematical model is developed. The outcomes of the proposed approach are quite promising compared to the linear and the polynomial method. The approach also yields to predict the expected values of children in the sense of height. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children%20growth%20percentile" title="children growth percentile">children growth percentile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children%20physical%20development" title=" children physical development"> children physical development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fractional%20calculus" title=" fractional calculus"> fractional calculus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20and%20polynomial%20model" title=" linear and polynomial model"> linear and polynomial model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104840/a-mathematical-model-approach-regarding-the-childrens-height-development-with-fractional-calculus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104840.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">148</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> 3D Finite Element Analysis of Yoke Hybrid Electromagnet </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hasan%20Fatih%20Ertu%C4%9Frul">Hasan Fatih Ertuğrul</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Beytullah%20Okur"> Beytullah Okur</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huseyin%20%C3%9Cvet"> Huseyin Üvet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kadir%20Erkan"> Kadir Erkan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The objective of this paper is to analyze a 4-pole hybrid magnetic levitation system by using 3D finite element and analytical methods. The magnetostatic analysis of the system is carried out by using ANSYS MAXWELL-3D package. An analytical model is derived by magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) method. The purpose of magnetostatic analysis is to determine the characteristics of attractive force and rotational torques by the change of air gap clearances, inclination angles and current excitations. The comparison between 3D finite element analysis and analytical results are presented at the rest of the paper. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yoke%20hybrid%20electromagnet" title="yoke hybrid electromagnet">yoke hybrid electromagnet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D%20finite%20element%20analysis" title=" 3D finite element analysis"> 3D finite element analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20levitation%20system" title=" magnetic levitation system"> magnetic levitation system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetostatic%20analysis" title=" magnetostatic analysis"> magnetostatic analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11364/3d-finite-element-analysis-of-yoke-hybrid-electromagnet" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11364.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">727</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> Effects of the Visual and Auditory Stimuli with Emotional Content on Eyewitness Testimony</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C4%B0rem%20Bulut">İrem Bulut</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Z.%20%20S%C3%B6y%C3%BCk"> Mustafa Z. In the literature, the number of studies about the reliability of eyewitness testimony is increasing. The study aims to reveal the factors that affect the short-term and long-term visual memory performance of the participants in the event of an accident. In this context, the effect of the emotional content of the accident and the sounds during the accident on visual memory performance was investigated with eye-tracking. According to the results, the presence of visual and auditory stimuli with emotional content during the accident decreases the participants' both short-term and long-term recall performance. Moreover, the data obtained from the eye monitoring device showed that the participants had difficulty in answering even the questions they focused on at the time of the accident. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eye%20tracking" title="eye tracking">eye tracking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eyewitness%20testimony" title=" eyewitness testimony"> eyewitness testimony</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=long-term%20recall" title=" long-term recall"> long-term recall</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=short-term%20recall" title=" short-term recall"> short-term recall</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=visual%20memory" title=" visual memory"> visual memory</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/115650/effects-of-the-visual-and-auditory-stimuli-with-emotional-content-on-eyewitness-testimony" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/115650.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">162</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Investigation of Genetic Diversity of Tilia tomentosa Moench. A total of 28 genotypes, including 25 members from the urban ecosystem and 3 genotypes from forest ecosystem as outgroup were used. 8 RAPD primers produced a total of 53 bands, of which 48 (90.6 %) were polymorphic. Percentage of polymorphic loci (P), observed number of alleles (Na), effective number of alleles (Ne), Nei's (1973) gene diversity (h), and Shannon's information index (I) were found as 94.29 %, 1.94, 1.60, 0.34, and 0.50, respectively. The unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic average (UPGMA) cluster analysis revealed that two major groups were observed. The genotypes of urban and forest ecosystems showed a high genetic similarity between 28% and 92% and these genotypes did not separate from each other in UPGMA tree. Also, urban and forest genotypes clustered together in principal component analysis (PCA). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tilia%20tomentosa" title="Tilia tomentosa">Tilia tomentosa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=genetic%20diversity" title=" genetic diversity"> genetic diversity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20ecosystem" title=" urban ecosystem"> urban ecosystem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RAPD" title=" RAPD"> RAPD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UPGMA" title=" UPGMA"> UPGMA</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26352/investigation-of-genetic-diversity-of-tilia-tomentosa-moench-silver-lime-in-duzce-turkey" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26352.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">510</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Relationship between Joint Hypermobility and Balance in Patients with Down’s Syndrome</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meltem%20Ramoglu">Meltem Ramoglu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ertugrul%20Safran"> Ertugrul Safran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hikmet%20Ucgun"> Hikmet Ucgun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Busra%20Kepenek%20Varol"> Busra Kepenek Varol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hulya%20Nilgun%20Gurses"> Hulya Nilgun Gurses</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Down’s syndrome (DS) is a human genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of an extra chromosome 21. Many patients with DS have musculoskeletal problems that affect weak muscle tone (hypotonia) and ligament laxity. This leads to excessive joint hypermobility and decreased position sense (proprioception). Lack of proprioception may cause balance problems. The aim of our study was to investigate how does joint hypermobility affect balance in patients with DS. Our study conducted with 13 DS patients age between 18 to 40 years. Demographic data were recorded. Beighton Hypermobility Score (BHS) was used to evaluate joint hypermobility. Balance score of participants was evaluated with Berg Balance Scale (BBS). Mean age of our participants was 29,8±3,57 year. Average score of body mass index and BHS were; 33,23 ±3,78 kg/m2 and 7,61±1,04, respectively. Out of a maximum possible score of 56 on the Berg Balance Scale, scores of participants with DS ranged from 36–51, with a mean of 43±4,45. Significant correlation was found between BHS and BBS (r: -,966, p=0.00). All of our participants have 6/9 or higher grade from BHS. As a conclusion of our study; joint hypermobility may affect balance score in patients with DS. The results suggest that people with DS have worse balance scores which affected by hypermobility. Further studies need larger population for more reliable results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adults" title="adults">adults</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=balance" title=" balance"> balance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Down%27s%20syndrome" title=" Down's syndrome"> Down's syndrome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=joint%20hypermobility" title=" joint hypermobility"> joint hypermobility</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68798/relationship-between-joint-hypermobility-and-balance-in-patients-with-downs-syndrome" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68798.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">329</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> In silico Comparative Analysis of Chloroplast Genome (cpDNA) and Some Individual Genes (rbcL and trnH-psbA) in Pooideae Subfamily Members</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ibrahim%20Ilker%20Ozyigit">Ibrahim Ilker Ozyigit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ertugrul%20Filiz"> Ertugrul Filiz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ilhan%20Dogan"> Ilhan Dogan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An in silico analysis of Brachypodium distachyon, Triticum aestivum, Festuca arundinacea, Lolium perenne, Hordeum vulgare subsp. vulgare of the Pooideaea was performed based on complete chloroplast genomes including rbcL coding and trnH-psbA intergenic spacer regions alone to compare phylogenetic resolving power. The materials were sorted by using a sieve No. 50 and the sieved materials were subjected to pyrolysis process at 400 °C, resulting in three different biochar products. The resulting biochar products were added to the bitumen at three different rates (5%, 10% and 15%), producing modified bitumen. Penetration, softening point, rotation viscometer and dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) tests were conducted on modified binders. Thus the modified bitumen, which was obtained by using additives at 3 different rates obtained from biochar produced at 400 °C temperatures of 3 different biomass sources were compared and the effects of pyrolysis temperature and additive rates were evaluated. As a result of the conducted tests, it was determined that the rheology of the pure bitumen improved significantly as a result of the modification of the bitumen with the biochar. Additionally, with biochar additive, it was determined that the rutting parameter values obtained from softening point, viscometer and DSR tests were increased while the values in terms of penetration and phase angle decreased. It was also observed that the most effective biomass is sawdust while the least effective was ground apricot seed shell. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rheology" title="rheology">rheology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomass" title=" biomass"> biomass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pyrolysis" title=" pyrolysis"> pyrolysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biochar" title=" biochar"> biochar</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83777/evaluation-of-the-rheological-properties-of-bituminous-binders-modified-with-biochars-obtained-from-various-biomasses-by-pyrolysis-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83777.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">177</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Effect of Humor on Pain and Anxiety in Patients with Rheumatoi̇d Arthri̇ti̇s: A Prospective, Randomized Controlled Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Burcu%20Babada%C4%9F%20Sava%C5%9F">Burcu Babadağ Savaş</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nihal%20Orlu"> Nihal Orlu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G%C3%BCler%20Balc%C4%B1%20Alparslan"> Güler Balcı Alparslan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ertu%C4%9Frul%20%C3%87olak"> Ertuğrul Çolak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cengiz%20Korkmaz"> Cengiz Korkmaz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction/objectives: We aimed to investigate the effect of humor on pain and state anxiety in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) receiving biologic intravenous (IV) infusion therapy. Method: The study sample consisted of 36 patients who met the classification criteria for RA and inclusion criteria in a rheumatology outpatient clinic at a university hospital between September 2020 and November 2021. Two sample groups were formed: the intervention group (watching a comedy movie) (n=18) and the control group (n=18). The intervention group consisted of the patient watching a comedy movie of his/her choice from an archive created by the researchers during the biological IV infusion therapy (approximately 90-120 minutes). The data collection instruments used before and after the test were the descriptive identification form, the visual analog scale (VAS), and the state anxiety scale. Results: The mean VAS scores of patients in the intervention group were 5.05 ± 2.01 in the pre-test and 2.61 ± 1.91 in the post-test. The mean state anxiety scores of patients in the intervention group were 45.94 ± 9.97 in the pre-test and 34.22 ± 6.57 in the post-test. Thus, patients who watched comedy movies during biologic IV infusion therapy in the infusion center had a greater reduction in pain scores than the control group and the effect size was small. Although there was a decrease in state anxiety scores in both groups, there was no significant difference between groups and the effect size was not relevant. Conclusions: During IV infusion therapy, watching comedy movies is recommended as a nursing care intervention for reducing pain in patients with RA in cooperation with other health professionals. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=watching%20comedy%20movie" title="watching comedy movie">watching comedy movie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=humor" title=" humor"> humor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pain" title=" pain"> pain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anxiety" title=" anxiety"> anxiety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nursing" title=" nursing"> nursing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=care" title=" care"> care</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148269/effect-of-humor-on-pain-and-anxiety-in-patients-with-rheumatoid-arthritis-a-prospective-randomized-controlled-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148269.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Structural Health Monitoring-Integrated Structural Reliability Based Decision Making</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Caglayan%20Hizal">Caglayan Hizal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kutay%20Yuceturk"> Kutay Yuceturk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ertugrul%20Turker%20Uzun"> Ertugrul Turker Uzun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hasan%20Ceylan"> Hasan Ceylan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Engin%20Aktas"> Engin Aktas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gursoy%20Turan"> Gursoy Turan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Monitoring concepts for structural systems have been investigated by researchers for decades since such tools are quite convenient to determine intervention planning of structures. Despite the considerable development in this regard, the efficient use of monitoring data in reliability assessment, and prediction models are still in need of improvement in their efficiency. More specifically, reliability-based seismic risk assessment of engineering structures may play a crucial role in the post-earthquake decision-making process for the structures. After an earthquake, professionals could identify heavily damaged structures based on visual observations. Among these, it is hard to identify the ones with minimum signs of damages, even if they would experience considerable structural degradation. Besides, visual observations are open to human interpretations, which make the decision process controversial, and thus, less reliable. In this context, when a continuous monitoring system has been previously installed on the corresponding structure, this decision process might be completed rapidly and with higher confidence by means of the observed data. At this stage, the Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) procedure has an important role since it can make it possible to estimate the system reliability based on a recursively updated mathematical model. Therefore, integrating an SHM procedure into the reliability assessment process comes forward as an important challenge due to the arising uncertainties for the updated model in case of the environmental, material and earthquake induced changes. In this context, this study presents a case study on SHM-integrated reliability assessment of the continuously monitored progressively damaged systems. The objective of this study is to get instant feedback on the current state of the structure after an extreme event, such as earthquakes, by involving the observed data rather than the visual inspections. Thus, the decision-making process after such an event can be carried out on a rational basis. In the near future, this can give wing to the design of self-reported structures which can warn about its current situation after an extreme event. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=condition%20assessment" title="condition assessment">condition assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibration-based%20SHM" title=" vibration-based SHM"> vibration-based SHM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability%20analysis" title=" reliability analysis"> reliability analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seismic%20risk%20assessment" title=" seismic risk assessment"> seismic risk assessment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135553/structural-health-monitoring-integrated-structural-reliability-based-decision-making" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135553.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Double Wishbone Pushrod Suspension Systems Co-Simulation for Racing Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Suleyman%20Ogul%20Ertugrul">Suleyman Ogul Ertugrul</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Turgut"> Mustafa Turgut</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Serkan%20Inand%C4%B1"> Serkan Inandı</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Gorkem%20Coban"> Mustafa Gorkem Coban</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20K%C4%B1g%C4%B1l%C4%B1"> Mustafa Kıgılı</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Mert"> Ali Mert</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Kesmez"> Oguzhan Kesmez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murat%20Ozanc%C4%B1"> Murat Ozancı</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Caglar%20Uyulan"> Caglar Uyulan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In high-performance automotive engineering, the realistic simulation of suspension systems is crucial for enhancing vehicle dynamics and handling. This study focuses on the double wishbone suspension system, prevalent in racing vehicles due to its superior control and stability characteristics. Utilizing MATLAB and Adams Car simulation software, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of displacement behaviors and damper sizing under various dynamic conditions. The initial phase involves using MATLAB to simulate the entire suspension system, allowing for the preliminary determination of damper size based on the system's response under simulated conditions. Following this, manual calculations of wheel loads are performed to assess the forces acting on the front and rear suspensions during scenarios such as braking, cornering, maximum vertical loads, and acceleration. Further dynamic force analysis is carried out using MATLAB Simulink, focusing on the interactions between suspension components during key movements such as bumps and rebounds. This simulation helps in formulating precise force equations and in calculating the stiffness of the suspension springs. To enhance the accuracy of our findings, we focus on a detailed kinematic and dynamic analysis. This includes the creation of kinematic loops, derivation of relevant equations, and computation of Jacobian matrices to accurately determine damper travel and compression metrics. The calculated spring stiffness is crucial in selecting appropriate springs to ensure optimal suspension performance. To validate and refine our results, we replicate the analyses using the Adams Car software, renowned for its detailed handling of vehicular dynamics. The goal is to achieve a robust, reliable suspension setup that maximizes performance under the extreme conditions encountered in racing scenarios. This study exemplifies the integration of theoretical mechanics with advanced simulation tools to achieve a high-performance suspension setup that can significantly improve race car performance, providing a methodology that can be adapted for different types of racing vehicles. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FSAE" title="FSAE">FSAE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suspension%20system" title=" suspension system"> suspension system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adams%20Car" title=" Adams Car"> Adams Car</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinematic" title=" kinematic"> kinematic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185252/double-wishbone-pushrod-suspension-systems-co-simulation-for-racing-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185252.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">51</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> From the Perspective of a Veterinarian: The Future of Plant Raw Materials Used in the Feeding of Farm Animals</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ertu%C4%9Frul%20Y%C4%B1lmaz">Ertuğrul Yılmaz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the most important occupational groups in the food chain from farm to fork is a veterinary medicine. This occupational group, which has important duties in the prevention of many zoonotic diseases and in public health, takes place in many critical control points from soil to our kitchen. It has important duties from mycotoxins transmitted from the soil to slaughterhouses or milk processing facilities. Starting from the soil, which constitutes 70% of mycotoxin contamination, up to the TMR made from raw materials obtained from the soil, there are all critical control points from feeding to slaughterhouses and milk production enterprises. We can take the precaution of mycotoxins such as Aflatoxin B1, Ochratoxin, Zearalenone, and Fumonisin, which we encounter on farms while in the field. It has been reported that aflatoxin B1 is a casenerogen and passes into milk in studies. It is likely that many mycotoxins pose significant threats to public health and will turn out to be even more dangerous over time. Even raw material storage and TMR preparation are very important for public health. The danger of fumonisin accumulating in the liver will be understood over time. Zoonotic diseases are also explained with examples. In this study, how important veterinarians are in terms of public health is explained with examples. In the two-year mycotoxin screenings, fumonisin mycotoxin was found to be very high in corn and corn by-products, and it was determined that it accumulated in the liver for a long time and remained cornic in animals. It has been determined that mycotoxins are present in all livestock feeds, poultry feeds, and raw materials, not alone, but in double-triple form. Starting from the end, mycotoxin scans should be carried out from feed to raw materials and from raw materials to soil. In this way, we prevent the transmission of mycotoxins to animals and from animals to humans. Liver protectors such as toxin binders, beta-glucan, mannan oligosaccharides, activated carbon, prebiotics, and silymarin were used in certain proportions in the total mixed ratio, and positive results were obtained. Humidity and temperature controls of raw material silos were made at certain intervals. Necropsy was performed on animals that died as a result of mycotoxicosis, and macroscopic photographs were taken of the organs. We have determined that the mycotoxin screening in experimental animals and the feeds made without detecting the presence and amount of bacterial factors affect the results of the project to be made. For this, a series of precautionary plans have been created, starting from the production processes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mycotoxins" title="mycotoxins">mycotoxins</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=feed%20safety" title=" feed safety"> feed safety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=processes" title=" processes"> processes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=public%20health" title=" public health"> public health</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161271/from-the-perspective-of-a-veterinarian-the-future-of-plant-raw-materials-used-in-the-feeding-of-farm-animals" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161271.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">84</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> The Relationship between Self-Injurious Behavior and Manner of Death</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sait%20Ozsoy">Sait Ozsoy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hacer%20Yasar%20Teke"> Hacer Yasar Teke</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Dalgic"> Mustafa Dalgic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cetin%20Ketenci"> Cetin Ketenci</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ertugrul%20Gok"> Ertugrul Gok</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kenan%20Karbeyaz"> Kenan Karbeyaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Azem%20Irez"> Azem Irez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mesut%20Akyol"> Mesut Akyol</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Self-mutilating behavior or self-injury behavior (SIB) is defined as: intentional harm to one’s body without intends to commit suicide”. SIB cases are commonly seen in psychiatry and forensic medicine practices. Despite variety of SIB methods, cuts in the skin is the most common (70-97%) injury in this group of patients. Subjects with SIB have one or more other comorbidities which include depression, anxiety, depersonalization, and feeling of worthlessness, borderline personality disorder, antisocial behaviors, and histrionic personality. These individuals feel a high level of hostility towards themselves and their surroundings. Researches have also revealed a strong relationship between antisocial personality disorder, criminal behavior, and SIB. This study has retrospectively evaluated 6,599 autopsy cases performed at forensic medicine institutes of six major cities (Ankara, Izmir, Diyarbakir, Erzurum, Trabzon, Eskisehir) of Turkey in 2013. The study group consisted of all cases with SIB findings (psychopathic cuts, cigarette burns, scars, and etc.). The relationship between causes of death in the study group (SIB subjects) and the control group was investigated. The control group was created from subjects without signs of SIB. Mann-Whitney U test was used for age variables and Chi-square test for categorical variables. Multinomial logistic regression analysis was used in order to analyze group differences in respect to manner of death (natural, accident, homicide, suicide) and analysis of risk factors associated with each group was determined by the Binomial logistic regression analysis. This study used SPSS statistics 15.0 for all its statistical and calculation needs. The statistical significance was p <0.05. There was no significant difference between accidental and natural death among the groups (p=0.737). Also there was a unit increase in number of cuts in psychopathic group while number of accidental death decreased (95% CI: 0.941-0.993) by 0.967 times (p=0.015). In contrast, there was a significant difference between suicidal and natural death (p<0.001), and also between homicidal and natural death (p=0.025). SIB is often seen with borderline and antisocial personality disorder but may be associated with many psychiatric illnesses. Studies have shown a relationship between antisocial personality disorders with criminal behavior and SIB with suicidal behavior. In our study, rate of suicide, murder and intoxication was higher compared to the control group. It could be concluded that SIB can be used as a predictor of possibility of one’s harm to him/herself and other people. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autopsy" title="autopsy">autopsy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cause%20of%20death" title=" cause of death"> cause of death</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=forensic%20science" title=" forensic science"> forensic science</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-injury%20behaviour" title=" self-injury behaviour"> self-injury behaviour</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28973/the-relationship-between-self-injurious-behavior-and-manner-of-death" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28973.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">510</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Investigation of the Usability of Biochars Obtained from Olive Pomace and Smashed Olive Seeds as Additives for Bituminous Binders</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammed%20Ertugrul%20Celoglu">Muhammed Ertugrul Celoglu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Beyza%20Furtana"> Beyza Furtana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehmet%20Yilmaz"> Mehmet Yilmaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Baha%20Vural%20Kok"> Baha Vural Kok</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Biomass, which is considered to be one of the largest renewable energy sources in the world, has a potential to be utilized as a bitumen additive after it is processed by a wide variety of thermochemical methods. Furthermore, biomasses are renewable in short amounts of time, and they possess a hydrocarbon structure. These characteristics of biomass promote their usability as additives. One of the most common ways to create materials with significant economic values from biomasses is the processes of pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is defined as the process of an organic matter’s thermochemical degradation (carbonization) at a high temperature and in an anaerobic environment. The resultant liquid substance at the end of the pyrolysis is defined as bio-oil, whereas the resultant solid substance is defined as biochar. Olive pomace is the resultant mildly oily pulp with seeds after olive is pressed and its oil is extracted. It is a significant source of biomass as the waste of olive oil factories. Because olive pomace is waste material, it could create problems just as other waste unless there are appropriate and acceptable areas of utilization. The waste material, which is generated in large amounts, is generally used as fuel and fertilizer. Generally, additive materials are used in order to improve the properties of bituminous binders, and these are usually expensive materials, which are produced chemically. The aim of this study is to investigate the usability of biochars obtained after subjecting olive pomace and smashed olive seeds, which are considered as waste materials, to pyrolysis as additives in bitumen modification. In this way, various ways of use will be provided for waste material, providing both economic and environmental benefits. In this study, olive pomace and smashed olive seeds were used as sources of biomass. Initially, both materials were ground and processed through a No.50 sieve. Both of the sieved materials were subjected to pyrolysis (carbonization) at 400 ℃. Following the process of pyrolysis, bio-oil and biochar were obtained. The obtained biochars were added to B160/220 grade pure bitumen at 10% and 15% rates and modified bitumens were obtained by mixing them in high shear mixtures at 180 ℃ for 1 hour at 2000 rpm. Pure bitumen and four different types of bitumen obtained as a result of the modifications were tested with penetration, softening point, rotational viscometer, and dynamic shear rheometer, evaluating the effects of additives and the ratios of additives. According to the test results obtained, both biochar modifications at both ratios provided improvements in the performance of pure bitumen. In the comparison of the test results of the binders modified with the biochars of olive pomace and smashed olive seed, it was revealed that there was no notable difference in their performances. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bituminous%20binders" title="bituminous binders">bituminous binders</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biochar" title=" biochar"> biochar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomass" title=" biomass"> biomass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=olive%20pomace" title=" olive pomace"> olive pomace</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pomace" title=" pomace"> pomace</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pyrolysis" title=" pyrolysis"> pyrolysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111479/investigation-of-the-usability-of-biochars-obtained-from-olive-pomace-and-smashed-olive-seeds-as-additives-for-bituminous-binders" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111479.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">132</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> The Effect of the Performance Evolution System on the Productivity of Administrating and a Case Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ertu%C4%9Frul%20Ferhat%20Yilmaz">Ertuğrul Ferhat Yilmaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Riza%20Per%C3%A7in"> Ali Riza Perçin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the business enterprises implemented modern business enterprise principles, the most important issues are increasing the performance of workers and getting maximum income. Through the twentieth century, rapid development of the sectors of data processing and communication and because of the free trade politics arising of multilateral business enterprises have canceled the economical borders and changed the local rivalry into the spherical rivalry. In this rivalry conditions, the business enterprises have to work active and productive in order to continue their existences. The employees worked at business enterprises have formed the most important factor of product. Therefore, the business enterprises inferring the importance of the human factors in order to increase the profit have used “the performance evolution system” to increase the success and development of the employees. The evolution of the performance is aimed to increase the manpower productive by using the employees in an active way. Furthermore, this system assists the wage politics implemented in business enterprise, determining the strategically plans in business enterprises through the short and long terms, being promoted and determining the educational needs of employees, making decisions as dismissing and work rotation. It requires a great deal of effort to catch the pace of change in the working realm and to keep up ourselves up-to-date. To get the quality in people,to have an effect in workplace depends largely on the knowledge and competence of managers and prospective managers. Therefore, managers need to use the performance evaluation systems in order to base their managerial decisions on sound data. This study aims at finding whether the organizations effectively use performance evaluation systms, how much importance is put on this issue and how much the results of the evaulations have an effect on employees. Whether the organizations have the advantage of competition and can keep on their activities depend to a large extent on how they effectively and efficiently use their employees. Therefore,it is of vital importance to evaluate employees' performance and to make them better according to the results of that evaluation. The performance evaluation system which evaluates the employees according to the criteria related to that organization has become one of the most important topics for management. By means of those important ends mentioned above, performance evaluation system seems to be a tool that can be used to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organization. Because of its contribution to organizational success, thinking performance evaluation on the axis of efficiency shows the importance of this study on a different angle.
