as an important predictor of response to peginterferon/ribavirin therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC). IFNL4 ss469415590 is a newly discovered polymorphism that could also affect the sustained virological response (SVR). The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of IL28B and IFNL4 genotypes with peginterferon/ribavirin treatment response in Tunisians patients with CHC and to determine which of these SNPs, was the stronger marker. A total of 120 patients were genotyped for both rs12979860 and ss469415590 polymorphisms. The association of each genetic marker with SVR was analyzed and comparison between the two SNPs was calculated by logistic regression models. For rs12979860, 69.6% of patients with CC, 41.8% with CT and 42.8% with TT achieved SVR (p = 0.003). Regarding ss469415590, 70.4% of patients with TT/TT genotype achieved SVR compared to 42.8% with TT/ΔG and 37.5% with ΔG /ΔG (p = 0.002). The presence of CC and TT/TT genotypes was independently associated with treatment response with an OR of 3.86 for each. In conclusion, both IL28B rs12979860 and IFNL4 ss469415590 variants were associated with response to pegIFN/RBV in Tunisian patients, without any additional benefit in performance for IFNL4. Our results are different from those detected in Sub-Saharan Africa countries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hepatitis%20C%20virus" title="Hepatitis C virus">Hepatitis C virus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IFNL4" title=" IFNL4"> IFNL4</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IL28B" title=" IL28B"> IL28B</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peginterferon%2Fribavirin" title=" Peginterferon/ribavirin"> Peginterferon/ribavirin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polymorphism" title=" polymorphism"> polymorphism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71093/correlation-of-ifnl4-ss469415590-and-il28b-rs12979860-with-the-hepatitis-c-virus-treatment-response-among-tunisian-patients" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71093.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">338</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21</span> Seroprevalence of Hepatitis a Virus Infection among General Population in Central-West Tunisia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jihene%20%20Bettaieb">Jihene Bettaieb</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kaouther%20%20Ayouni"> Kaouther Ayouni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghassen%20%20Kharroubi"> Ghassen Kharroubi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rym%20%20Mallekh"> Rym Mallekh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Walid%20%20Hammemi"> Walid Hammemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Afif%20%20Ben%20Salah"> Afif Ben Salah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Henda%20%20Triki"> Henda Triki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In Tunisia, the hepatitis A virus (HAV) represents a public health concern. Due to the progress in sanitation and socio-economic conditions, the epidemiology of HAV has shown dynamic changes over the past years. This study aimed to investigate the current seroprevalence of HAV antibodies (anti-HAV) among the residents of Thala, a rural setting in central-west Tunisia, to determine the age-specific seroprevalence for HAV infection and co-infection with hepatitis C and B virus. A total of 1379 subjects (mean age: 25.0 ± 17.3 years, 555 males/ 824 females) were recruited between January and June 2014. The study population included 95 individuals previously known as hepatitis C positive. Serum samples were collected and screened for the detection of IgG anti-HAV, HBsAg, and HBcAb by the Elisa Test. The overall anti- HAV seroprevalence was about 84.7%. There was no statistically significant difference between males and females. On the 1379 tested individual, 219 were positive for HBcAb, and 67 were positive for HBsAg. IgG anti- HAV were positive in 80.6% of HBsAg-positive patients (54 out of 67), 81.3% of HBcAb-positive patients (178 out of 219), and in 95.8% of HCV-positive patients (91 out of 95). HBV infection and HCV infection were statistically associated with a greater risk of positive anti-HAV antibody (p < 0.001). Our study revealed that Thala represents an intermediate endemicity level and that the introduction of vaccination against HAV in this region is recommended, especially for the hepatitis B or C infected person seronegative for HAV. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coinfection" title="coinfection">coinfection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hepatitis%20A" title=" hepatitis A"> hepatitis A</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seroprevalence" title=" seroprevalence"> seroprevalence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tunisia" title=" Tunisia"> Tunisia</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127942/seroprevalence-of-hepatitis-a-virus-infection-among-general-population-in-central-west-tunisia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127942.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">151</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> Spectral Properties of Fiber Bragg Gratings</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Y.%20Hamaizi">Y. Relying on the conation theory, this study investigates this phenomenon and proposes solutions to mitigate the issue. We show that highly experienced e-Forum members refuse to share business information in a peer to peer information exchange forums. However, forums managers can mitigate this behavior by developing a sentiment of belongingness to the network. Furthermore, by selecting only elite forum participants with ample experience, they can reduce the reluctance of key information providers to engage in information exchange. Our hypotheses are tested with PLS structural equations modeling using survey data from members of a French e-Forum dedicated to the exchange of business information about exporting. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conation" title="conation">conation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-Forum" title=" e-Forum"> e-Forum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20exchange" title=" information exchange"> information exchange</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=members%20participation" title=" members participation"> members participation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113851/mitigating-the-unwillingness-of-e-forums-members-to-engage-in-information-exchange" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113851.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">158</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Extracting Actions with Improved Part of Speech Tagging for Social Networking Texts</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yassine%20Jamoussi">Yassine Jamoussi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ameni%20Youssfi"> Ameni Youssfi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Henda%20Ben%20Ghezala"> Henda Ben Ghezala</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the growing interest in social networking, the interaction of social actors evolved to a source of knowledge in which it becomes possible to perform context aware-reasoning. We attempt to expand existing tokenizer and to develop our own tagger in order to support the incorrect words currently in existence in Facebook and Twitter. However, the existing systems ignore the variety of learners and their socio-cultural differences, especially in the case of distant and networked learning. In fact, within such collaborative learning environments, learners from different socio-cultural backgrounds may interact together. These learners evolve within various cultures and social contexts and acquire different socio-cultural values and behaviors. Thus, they should be assisted while communicating and collaborating especially in an intercultural group. Besides, the communication and collaboration tools provided to each learner must depend on and be adapted to her/his socio-cultural profile. The collection of poor-quality data resulting, for example, from poorly designed questionnaires, the absence of good translators or interpreters, and the incorrect recording of data allow conclusions to be drawn that are not supported by the data or to focus only on the average effect of the program or policy. There are several solutions to avoid or minimize the most frequent errors, including obtaining expert advice on the design or adaptation of data collection instruments; or use technologies allowing better "anonymity" in the responses [2]. In this context, we opted to collect good quality data by doing a sizeable questionnaire-based survey on hospital emergencies to improve emergency services and alleviate the problems encountered. At the level of this paper, we will present our study, and we will detail the steps followed to achieve the collection of relevant, consistent and practical data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20collection" title="data collection">data collection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=survey" title=" survey"> survey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=questionnaire" title=" questionnaire"> questionnaire</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=database" title=" database"> database</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20analysis" title=" data analysis"> data analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hospital%20emergencies" title=" hospital emergencies"> hospital emergencies</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140605/data-collection-based-on-the-questionnaire-survey-in-hospital-emergencies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140605.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">108</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Fracture Energy Corresponding to the Puncture/Cutting of Nitrile Rubber by Pointed Blades</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ennouri%20Triki">Ennouri Triki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Toan%20Vu-Khanh"> Toan Vu-Khanh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Resistance to combined puncture/cutting by pointed blades is an important property of gloves materials. The purpose of this study is to propose an approach derived from the fracture mechanics theory to calculate the fracture energy associated to the puncture/cutting of nitrile rubber. The proposed approach is also based on the application of a sample pre-strained during the puncture/cutting test in order to remove the contribution of friction. It was validated with two different pointed blade angles of 22.5° and 35°. Results show that the applied total fracture energy corresponding to puncture/cutting is controlled by three energies, one is the fracture energy or the intrinsic strength of the material, the other reflects the friction energy between a pointed blade and the material. For an applied pre-strain energy (or tearing energy) of high value, the friction energy is completely removed. Without friction, the total fracture energy is constant. In that case, the fracture contribution of the tearing energy is marginal. Growth of the crack is thus completely caused by the puncture/cutting by a pointed blade. Finally, results suggest that the value of the fracture energy corresponding to puncture/cutting by pointed blades is obtained at a frictional contribution of zero. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elastomer" title="elastomer">elastomer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy" title=" energy"> energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fracture" title=" fracture"> fracture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=friction" title=" friction"> friction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pointed%20blades" title=" pointed blades"> pointed blades</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35346/fracture-energy-corresponding-to-the-puncturecutting-of-nitrile-rubber-by-pointed-blades" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35346.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">305</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> A Study of the Resistance of Protective Glove Materials to Metalworking Fluids</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nguyen-Tri%20Phuong">Nguyen-Tri Phuong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Triki%20Ennouri"> Triki Ennouri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gauvin%20Chantal"> Gauvin Chantal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tuduri%20Ludovic"> Tuduri Ludovic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vu-Khanh%20Toan"> Vu-Khanh Toan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hand injuries due to mechanical hazards such as cuts and punctures are major risks and concerns for several occupational groups, particularly for workers in the metal manufacturing sector and mechanical automotive services. Personal protective equipment such as gloves or clothing is necessary for many professionals to protect against a variety of occupational hazards, which arise daily in their work environments. In many working places such as metal manufacturing or automotive services, mechanical hazards often occur together with industrial contaminants, particularly metalworking fluids (MWFs). The presence of these contaminants could modify the properties of gloves made from polymeric materials and thus increase the risk of hand injuries for workers. The focus of this study is to determine the swelling characteristics and the resistance of six polymer membranes when they are contaminated with several industrial metalworking fluids. These polymer membranes, commonly used in protective gloves, are nitrile, neoprene, vinyl, butyl, polyurethane and latex rubbers. Changes swelling index were continuously followed during the contamination procedure to compare the performance of each polymer under different conditions. The modification of the samples surface, tensile properties during the contamination process was also investigated. The effect of temperature on mechanical properties and morphology of material was also examined. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metalworking%20fluid" title="metalworking fluid">metalworking fluid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=swelling%20behavior" title=" swelling behavior"> swelling behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protective%20glove%20materials" title=" protective glove materials"> protective glove materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elastomers" title=" elastomers"> elastomers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36129/a-study-of-the-resistance-of-protective-glove-materials-to-metalworking-fluids" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36129.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Convertible Lease, Risky Debt and Financial Structure with Growth Option</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ons%20Triki">Ons Triki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fathi%20Abid"> Fathi Abid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The basic objective of this paper is twofold. It resides in designing a model for a contingent convertible lease contract that can ensure the financial stability of a company and recover the losses of the parties to the lease in the event of default. It also aims to compare the convertible lease contract on inefficiencies resulting from the debt-overhang problem and asset substitution with other financing policies. From this perspective, this paper highlights the interaction between investments and financing policies in a dynamic model with existing assets and a growth option where the investment cost is financed by a contingent convertible lease and equity. We explore the impact of the contingent convertible lease on the capital structure. We also check the reliability and effectiveness of the use of the convertible lease contract as a means of financing. Findings show that the rental convertible contract with a sufficiently high conversion ratio has less severe inefficiencies arising from risk-shifting and debt overhang than those entailed by risky debt and pure-equity financing. The problem of underinvestment pointed out by Mauer and Ott (2000) and the problem of overinvestment mentioned by Hackbarth and Mauer (2012) may be reduced under contingent convertible lease financing. Our findings predict that the firm value under contingent convertible lease financing increases globally with asset volatility instead of decreasing with business risk. The study reveals that convertible leasing contracts can stand for a reliable solution to ensure the lessee and quickly recover the counterparties of the lease upon default. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contingent%20convertible%20lease" title="contingent convertible lease">contingent convertible lease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=growth%20option" title=" growth option"> growth option</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=debt%20overhang" title=" debt overhang"> debt overhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk-shifting" title=" risk-shifting"> risk-shifting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20structure" title=" capital structure"> capital structure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161279/convertible-lease-risky-debt-and-financial-structure-with-growth-option" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161279.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">72</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> 3-D Numerical Simulation of Scraped Surface Heat Exchanger with Helical Screw</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rabeb%20Triki">Rabeb Triki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassene%20Djemel"> Hassene Djemel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mounir%20Baccar"> Mounir Baccar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Surface scraping is a passive heat transfer enhancement technique that is directly used in scraped surface heat exchanger (SSHE). The scraping action prevents the accumulation of the product on the inner wall, which intensifies the heat transfer and avoids the formation of dead zones. SSHEs are widely used in industry for several applications such as crystallization, sterilization, freezing, gelatinization, and many other continuous processes. They are designed to deal with products that are viscous, sticky or that contain particulate matter. This research work presents a three-dimensional numerical simulation of the coupled thermal and hydrodynamic behavior within a SSHE which includes Archimedes’ screw instead of scraper blades. The finite volume Fluent 15.0 was used to solve continuity, momentum and energy equations using multiple reference frame formulation. The process fluid investigated under this study is the pure glycerin. Different geometrical parameters were studied in the case of steady, non-isothermal, laminar flow. In particular, attention is focused on the effect of the conicity of the rotor and the pitch of Archimedes’ screw on temperature and velocity distribution and heat transfer rate. Numerical investigations show that the increase of the number of turns in the screw from five to seven turns leads to amelioration of heat transfer coefficient, and the increase of the conicity of the rotor from 0.1 to 0.15 leads to an increase in the rate of heat transfer. Further studies should investigate the effect of different operating parameters (axial and rotational Reynolds number) on the hydrodynamic and thermal behavior of the SSHE. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ANSYS-Fluent" title="ANSYS-Fluent">ANSYS-Fluent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrodynamic%20behavior" title=" hydrodynamic behavior"> hydrodynamic behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scraped%20surface%20heat%20exchange" title=" scraped surface heat exchange"> scraped surface heat exchange</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20behavior" title=" thermal behavior"> thermal behavior</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91228/3-d-numerical-simulation-of-scraped-surface-heat-exchanger-with-helical-screw" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91228.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">160</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Continuous-Time Convertible Lease Pricing and Firm Value</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ons%20Triki">Ons Triki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fathi%20Abid"> Fathi Abid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Along with the increase in the use of leasing contracts in corporate finance, multiple studies aim to model the credit risk of the lease in order to cover the losses of the lessor of the asset if the lessee goes bankrupt. In the current research paper, a convertible lease contract is elaborated in a continuous time stochastic universe aiming to ensure the financial stability of the firm and quickly recover the losses of the counterparties to the lease in case of default. This work examines the term structure of the lease rates taking into account the credit default risk and the capital structure of the firm. The interaction between the lessee's capital structure and the equilibrium lease rate has been assessed by applying the competitive lease market argument developed by Grenadier (1996) and the endogenous structural default model set forward by Leland and Toft (1996). The cumulative probability of default was calculated by referring to Leland and Toft (1996) and Yildirim and Huan (2006). Additionally, the link between lessee credit risk and lease rate was addressed so as to explore the impact of convertible lease financing on the term structure of the lease rate, the optimal leverage ratio, the cumulative default probability, and the optimal firm value by applying an endogenous conversion threshold. The numerical analysis is suggestive that the duration structure of lease rates increases with the increase in the degree of the market price of risk. The maximal value of the firm decreases with the effect of the optimal leverage ratio. The results are indicative that the cumulative probability of default increases with the maturity of the lease contract if the volatility of the asset service flows is significant. Introducing the convertible lease contract will increase the optimal value of the firm as a function of asset volatility for a high initial service flow level and a conversion ratio close to 1. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=convertible%20lease%20contract" title="convertible lease contract">convertible lease contract</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lease%20rate" title=" lease rate"> lease rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=credit-risk" title=" credit-risk"> credit-risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20structure" title=" capital structure"> capital structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=default%20probability" title=" default probability"> default probability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161192/continuous-time-convertible-lease-pricing-and-firm-value" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161192.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">98</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Predicting Wearable Technology Readiness in a South African Government Department: Exploring the Influence of Wearable Technology Acceptance and Positive Attitude</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Henda%20J%20Thomas">Henda J Thomas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cornelia%20PJ%20Harmse"> Cornelia PJ Harmse</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cecile%20Schultz"> Cecile Schultz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Wearables are one of the technologies that will flourish within the fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation arenas, allowing employers to integrate collected data into organisational information systems. The study aimed to investigate whether wearable technology readiness can predict employees’ acceptance to wear wearables in the workplace. The factors of technology readiness predisposition that predict acceptance and positive attitudes towards wearable use in the workplace were examined. A quantitative research approach was used. The population consisted of 8 081 South African Department of Employment and Labour employees (DEL). Census sampling was used, and questionnaires to collect data were sent electronically to all 8 081 employees, 351 questionnaires were received back. The measuring instrument called the Technology Readiness and Acceptance Model (TRAM) was used in this study. Four hypotheses were formulated to investigate the relationship between readiness and acceptance of wearables in the workplace. The results found consistent predictions of technology acceptance (TA) by eagerness, optimism, and discomfort in the technology readiness (TR) scales. The TR scales of optimism and eagerness were consistent positive predictors of the TA scales, while discomfort proved to be a negative predictor for two of the three TA scales. Insecurity was found not to be a predictor of TA. It was recommended that the digital transformation policy of the DEL should be revised. Wearables in the workplace should be embraced from the viewpoint of convenience, automation, and seamless integration with the DEL information systems. The empirical contribution of this study can be seen in the fact that positive attitude emerged as a factor that extends the TRAM. In this study, positive attitude is identified as a new dimension to the TRAM not found in the original TA model and subsequent studies of the TRAM. Furthermore, this study found that Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Behavioural Intention to Use and (BIU) could not be separated but formed one factor. The methodological contribution of this study can lead to the development of a Wearable Readiness and Acceptance Model (WRAM). To the best of our knowledge, no author has yet introduced the WRAM into the body of knowledge. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=technology%20acceptance%20model" title="technology acceptance model">technology acceptance model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=technology%20readiness%20index" title=" technology readiness index"> technology readiness index</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=technology%20readiness%20and%20acceptance%20model" title=" technology readiness and acceptance model"> technology readiness and acceptance model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wearable%20devices" title=" wearable devices"> wearable devices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wearable%20technology" title=" wearable technology"> wearable technology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fourth%20industrial%20revolution" title=" fourth industrial revolution"> fourth industrial revolution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170603/predicting-wearable-technology-readiness-in-a-south-african-government-department-exploring-the-influence-of-wearable-technology-acceptance-and-positive-attitude" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170603.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">89</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> The Quantum Theory of Music and Human Languages</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mballa%20Abanda%20Luc%20Aurelien%20Serge">Mballa Abanda Luc Aurelien Serge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Henda%20Gnakate%20Biba"> Henda Gnakate Biba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuate%20Guemo%20Romaric"> Kuate Guemo Romaric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akono%20Rufine%20Nicole"> Akono Rufine Nicole</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zabotom%20Yaya%20Fadel%20Biba"> Zabotom Yaya Fadel Biba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Petfiang%20Sidonie"> Petfiang Sidonie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bella%20Suzane%20Jenifer"> Bella Suzane Jenifer</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main hypotheses proposed around the definition of the syllable and of music, of the common origin of music and language, should lead the reader to reflect on the cross-cutting questions raised by the debate on the notion of universals in linguistics and musicology. It is a glossary that expresses the tones and the rhythm of words. It recreates exactly the speaking or singing of a tonal language, and allows the non-speaker of this language to pronounce the words as if they were a native. It is a dictionary adapted to tonal languages. It was built from ethnomusicological theorems and phonological processes, according to Jean. J. Rousseau 1776 hypothesis /To say and to sing were once the same thing/. Each word in the French dictionary finds its corresponding language, ekaη. And each word ekaη is written on a musical staff. This ethnographic dictionary is also an inventive, original and innovative research thesis, but it is also an inventive, original and innovative research thesis.
