Phantom Pain is a huge game, packed with far too much content. No really, I’ve sunk in a bunch of hours into the sandbox stealth world, and I’m only around 21% complete. Even Geoff, who has played a fair amount more than I have, is only on 25% or so. As if we didn’t have enough to keep us busy, we now have Metal Gear Online to look forward to.</p> <p><span id="more-457503"></span></p> <p>It’s coming to consoles on October 6th (early 2016 for PC), and will be free to those who own a copy of The Phantom Pain. Personally, I’ve never seen Metal Gear Solid as a multiplayer game, not one bit. Then I watched this new gameplay video straight out of Tokyo Game Show, and I understand exactly why I converted to Kojimaism recently .</p> <p><iframe loading="lazy" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/20aMKCGVVMo" width="820" height="461" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p> <p>The whole video is likely scripted, but still, I won’t even pretend that I don’t think that looks like a whole bunch of fun! I can use the Fulton to extract enemies? Holy crap, count me in! The futuristic balloon system isn’t just for comedy value either. In the one game mode shown above, Bounty Hunter, it actually plays a key role.</p> <p>Both teams start out with X amount of tickets. Dispatching enemies will deplete their overall total. However, racking up a good kill-streak will place a bounty on a player’s head. If an enemy is able to down and Fulton that enemy (note: NOT kill), their bounty value is then added to the enemy’s ticket total. What this means is that the game can swing in anybody’s favour at any moment.</p> <p>Honestly, it looks rather amazing, and that’s not just the fanboy in me speaking (I hope). I’m quite excited to see what other game modes are on offer!</p> <p>What do you think? Does Metal Gear Online appeal to you at all?
