and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.<Fr><p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><FR>And, before all these things, they will lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering <i>you</i> up into the synagogues and prisons, being brought before kings and governors for My name's sake.<Fr> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><FR>It shall result to you for a testimony.<Fr> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><FR>Settle <i>it</i>, therefore, in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand <i>how</i> to make a defense;<Fr> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><FR>for I will <i>give</i> you a mouth, and wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or gainsay.<Fr> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>But ye will be delivered up even by parents, and brothers, and kindred, and friends; because your redemption is drawing near."<Fr><p> <A name="30"></a><p class="hdg">The Lesson of the Fig Tree<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/24.htm#32">Matthew 24:32–35</a>; <a href ="../mark/13.htm#28">Mark 13:28–31</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>And He spake a parable to them: <FR>"Behold the fig tree and all the trees;<Fr> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span><FR>when they now shoot forth, beholding it, ye know of yourselves that already the summer is near.<Fr> <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span><FR>So also ye, when ye see these things coming to pass, know that the Kingdom of God is near.<Fr> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span><FR>Verily I say to you, this generation will in no wise pass away, till all come to pass.<Fr> <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span><FR>The heaven and the earth will pass away; but My words shall in no wise pass away.<Fr><p> <A name="35"></a><p class="hdg">Be Watchful for the Day<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span><FR>"But take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be weighed down with gluttony and drunkenness, and anxieties pertaining to life, and that day come upon you suddenly as a snare;<Fr> <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span><FR>for <i>so</i> it will come upon all those dwelling upon <i>the</i> face of all the earth.<Fr> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span><FR>But watch ye at every season, praying that ye may have full strength to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."<Fr><p> <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/21-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>And He was, during the days, in the temple, teaching;
