It is based on previous research showing that teacher-child interactions in preschools have direct and determining effects on the quality of early childhood education and could directly or indirectly influence child development. However, throughout a typical preschool day, children experience different learning contexts to promote their learning opportunities. Depending on these specific contexts, teacher-child interactions could vary, for example, between free play and shared book reading. Indeed, some studies have found that teacher-directed or child-directed contexts might lead to significant variations in teacher-child interactions. This study drew upon both the bioecological and the Teaching Through Interactions frameworks. It was conducted through a descriptive and correlational design. Fifteen teachers were recruited to participate in the study. At Time 1 in October, they completed a diary to report the learning contexts they proposed in their classroom during a typical week. At Time 2, seven months later (May), they were videotaped three times in the morning (two weeks’ time between each recording) during a typical morning class. The quality of teacher-child interactions was then coded with the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) through the contexts identified. This tool measures three main domains of interactions: emotional support, classroom organization, and instruction support, and10 dimensions scored on a scale from 1 (low quality) to 7 (high quality). Based on the teachers’ reports, five learning contexts were identified: 1) shared book reading, 2) free play, 3) morning meeting, 4) teacher-directed activity (such as craft), and 5) snack. Based on preliminary statistical analyses, little variation was observed within the learning contexts for each domain of the CLASS. However, the instructional support domain showed lower scores during specific learning contexts, specifically free play and teacher-directed activity. Practical implications for how preschool teachers could foster specific domains of interactions depending on learning contexts to enhance children’s social and academic development will be discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=teacher%20practices" title="teacher practices">teacher practices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=teacher-child%20interactions" title=" teacher-child interactions"> teacher-child interactions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=preschool%20education" title=" preschool education"> preschool education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=learning%20contexts" title=" learning contexts"> learning contexts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=child%20development" title=" child development"> child development</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152767/teacher-child-interactions-within-learning-contexts-in-prekindergarten" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152767.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">107</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">52</span> Hospitality Genealogy: Tracing the Ethics and Ontologies of Hospitality-Making on the Silk-Routes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neil%20Michael%20Walsh">Neil Michael Walsh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Angelique%20Lombarts"> Angelique Lombarts</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The authors propose that hospitality is ‘made’ (constituted and performed) in the encounters on the Silk-Routes. Inspired with an initial Derridean perspective on hospitality (the conditional/unconditional) and methodologically underpinned with a Delueuzian relational-rhizomatic approach, the authors contend that hospitality is (re)produced in the encounters of self/other, east/west (among others). Thus, in the spirit of performativity and using the temporal-spatial conduit of the Silk Routes (the sites of ethical, cultural, economic, and material interaction of such exchange), the authors concur that hospitality is produced at the moment in which it is performed. Key themes engaged as units of analysis become welcome, reception, hostility, (and so on) which the authors engage and examine –as they unfold- in the narratives and accounts and material legacies of those who travelled the Silk Routes between the 2nd and 18th Centuries. The preliminary results suggest that these earlier performative moments in hospitality-making on the silk routes continue to resonate and ‘form’ the hospitalities of today. Indeed, these acts of hospitality continue to reconstitute and are never a final state of affairs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hospitality-genealogy" title="hospitality-genealogy">hospitality-genealogy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interactions" title=" interactions"> interactions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hospitality-making" title=" hospitality-making"> hospitality-making</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Silk-Routes" title=" Silk-Routes"> Silk-Routes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rhizome" title=" rhizome"> rhizome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relationality" title=" relationality"> relationality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129847/hospitality-genealogy-tracing-the-ethics-and-ontologies-of-hospitality-making-on-the-silk-routes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129847.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">134</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">51</span> Formation of Volatile Iodine from Cesium Iodide Aerosols: A DFT Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Houssam%20Hijazi">Houssam Hijazi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Cantrel"> Laurent Cantrel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jean-Fran%C3%A7ois%20Paul"> Jean-François Paul</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Periodic DFT calculations were performed to study the chemistry of CsI particles and the possible release of volatile iodine from CsI surfaces for nuclear safety interest. One of the possible solutions is desalination of seawater. There are numerous processes by which it can be done and one if which is capacitive deionization. Capacitive deionization is a relatively new technique for water desalination. It utilizes the electric double layer for ion adsorption. Carbon-based materials are commonly used as electrodes for capacitive deionization. In this study, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were treated in a mixture of nitric and sulfuric acid. The silver addition was also facilitated to incorporate antimicrobial action. The acid-treated carbon nanotubes (f-CNTs) and silver-decorated f-CNTs (Ag@f-CNTs) were used as electrode materials for seawater deionization and compared with CNT and acid-treated CNT. The synthesized materials were characterized using TEM, EDS, XRD, XPS and BET. The electrochemical performance was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry, and the deionization performance was tested on a single cell with water containing 64mg/L NaCl. The results showed that the synthesized Ag@f-CNT-10 H could have better performance than CNT and a-CNT with a maximum ion removal efficiency of 50.22% and a corresponding adsorption capacity of 3.21 mg/g. It also showed antimicrobial activity against E. coli. However, the said material lacks stability as the efficiency decreases with repeated usage of the electrode. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capacitive%20deionization" title="capacitive deionization">capacitive deionization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20nanotubes" title=" carbon nanotubes"> carbon nanotubes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=desalination" title=" desalination"> desalination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acid%20functionalization" title=" acid functionalization"> acid functionalization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silver" title=" silver"> silver</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54667/investigation-on-the-capacitive-deionization-of-functionalized-carbon-nanotubes-f-cnts-and-silver-decorated-f-cnts-for-water-softening" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54667.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">231</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">49</span> A Universal Hybrid Adsorbent Based on Chitosan for Water Treatment</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sandrine%20Delpeux-Ouldriane">Sandrine Delpeux-Ouldriane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min%20Cai"> Min Cai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Duclaux"> Laurent Duclaux</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurence%20Reinert"> Laurence Reinert</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fabrice%20Muller"> Fabrice Muller</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A novel hybrid adsorbent, based on chitosan biopolymer, clays and activated carbon was prepared. Cell volumes can be altered by osmotically active compounds and extracellular tonicity. In this study, a simple mathematical model of osmotically induced cell swelling and shrinking is presented. Emphasis is given to water diffusion across the membrane. The mathematical description of the cellular behavior consists in a system of coupled ordinary differential equations. The results indicate, firstly, that an increase in the riskiness of banks’ balance sheets influences positively on the target capital ratios. Secondly, the adjustment towards higher equilibrium capital ratios has a significant impact on banks’ assets. The impact is found to be more size-able on security holdings than on loans, thereby suggesting a pecking order. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Euro%20area" title="Euro area">Euro area</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20ratios" title=" capital ratios"> capital ratios</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=credit%20supply" title=" credit supply"> credit supply</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=partial%20adjustment%20model" title=" partial adjustment model"> partial adjustment model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10724/risk-capital-buffers-and-bank-lending-the-adjustment-of-euro-area-banks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10724.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">448</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">46</span> Functional and Efficient Query Interpreters: Principle, Application and Performances’ Comparison</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Thiry">Laurent Thiry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michel%20Hassenforder"> Michel Hassenforder</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents a general approach to implement efficient queries’ interpreters in a functional programming language. Indeed, most of the standard tools actually available use an imperative and/or object-oriented language for the implementation (e.g. Java for Jena-Fuseki) but other paradigms are possible with, maybe, better performances. To proceed, the paper first explains how to model data structures and queries in a functional point of view. Then, it proposes a general methodology to get performances (i.e. number of computation steps to answer a query) then it explains how to integrate some optimization techniques (short-cut fusion and, more important, data transformations). It then compares the functional server proposed to a standard tool (Fuseki) demonstrating that the first one can be twice to ten times faster to answer queries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20transformation" title="data transformation">data transformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=functional%20programming" title=" functional programming"> functional programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20server" title=" information server"> information server</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimization" title=" optimization"> optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104283/functional-and-efficient-query-interpreters-principle-application-and-performances-comparison" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104283.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">157</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">45</span> The Analogue of a Property of Pisot Numbers in Fields of Formal Power Series</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wiem%20Gadri">Wiem Gadri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study delves into the intriguing properties of Pisot and Salem numbers within the framework of formal Laurent series over finite fields, a domain where these numbers’ spectral charac-teristics, Λm(β) and lm(β), have yet to be fully explored. Utilizing a methodological approach that combines algebraic number theory with the analysis of power series, we extend the foundational work of Erdos, Joo, and Komornik to this new setting. Our research uncovers bounds for lm(β), revealing how these depend on the degree of the minimal polynomial of β and thus offering a novel characterization of Pisot and Salem formal power series. The findings significantly contribute to our understanding of these numbers, highlighting their distribution and properties in the context of formal power series. This investigation not only bridges number theory with formal power series analysis but also sets the stage for further interdisciplinary research in these areas. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pisot%20numbers" title="Pisot numbers">Pisot numbers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salem%20numbers" title=" Salem numbers"> Salem numbers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=formal%20power%20series" title=" formal power series"> formal power series</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=over%20a%20finite%20field" title=" over a finite field"> over a finite field</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147057/the-analogue-of-a-property-of-pisot-numbers-in-fields-of-formal-power-series" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147057.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">51</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">44</span> Generating 3D Anisotropic Centroidal Voronoi Tessellations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexandre%20Marin">Alexandre Marin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexandra%20Bac"> Alexandra Bac</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Astart"> Laurent Astart</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> New numerical methods for PDE resolution (such as Finite Volumes (FV) or Virtual Elements Method (VEM)) open new needs in terms of meshing of domains of interest, and in particular, polyhedral meshes have many advantages. One way to build such meshes consists of constructing Restricted Voronoi Diagrams (RVDs) whose boundaries respect the domain of interest. By minimizing a function defined for RVDs, the shapes of cells can be controlled, e.g., elongated according to user-defined directions or adjusted to comply with given aspect ratios (anisotropy) and density variations. In this paper, our contribution is threefold: First, we introduce a new gradient formula for the Voronoi tessellation energy under a continuous anisotropy field. Second, we describe a meshing algorithm based on the optimisation of this function that we validate against state-of-the-art approaches. Finally, we propose a hierarchical approach to speed up our meshing algorithm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anisotropic%20Voronoi%20diagrams" title="anisotropic Voronoi diagrams">anisotropic Voronoi diagrams</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=meshes%20for%20numerical%20simulations" title=" meshes for numerical simulations"> meshes for numerical simulations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimisation" title=" optimisation"> optimisation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=volumic%20polyhedral%20meshing" title=" volumic polyhedral meshing"> volumic polyhedral meshing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172242/generating-3d-anisotropic-centroidal-voronoi-tessellations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172242.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">115</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">43</span> Utilization of Treated Spend Pot Lining by Product from the Primary Aluminum Production in Cement and Concrete</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hang%20Tran">Hang Tran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Victor%20Brial"> Victor Brial</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luca%20Sorelli"> Luca Sorelli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claudiane%20Ouellet-Plamondon"> Claudiane Ouellet-Plamondon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=David%20Conciatori"> David Conciatori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Birry"> Laurent Birry</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Spend pot lining (SPL) is a by-product generated from primary aluminum production. One option is to boost control rods worth. The Greater part of the study is aimed at the proposal of appropriate control rod design. At first, the European Fast Reactor (EFR) control rod design with high-enriched boron carbide B4C as absorber material was tested. Considering costly and difficult enrichment process, usage of natural boron carbide absorbator is desired. Obviously, the use of natural boron leads to CR worth reduction. In order to increase it to required value, moderator material was inserted inside the control rod. Various materials and geometric configurations were examined to find optimal solution corresponding with EFR based CR worth value. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=boron%20carbide" title="boron carbide">boron carbide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CAPRA%20core" title=" CAPRA core"> CAPRA core</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=control%20rod%20design" title=" control rod design"> control rod design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20void%20effect%20design" title=" low void effect design"> low void effect design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=melting%20temperature" title=" melting temperature"> melting temperature</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moderator%20material" title=" moderator material"> moderator material</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34110/development-and-analysis-of-sfr-control-rod-design" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34110.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">505</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">41</span> The Proposal of Modification of California Pipe Method for Inclined Pipe </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wojciech%20D%C4%85browski">Wojciech Dąbrowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joanna%20B%C4%85k"> Joanna Bąk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Solliec"> Laurent Solliec</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays technical and technological progress and constant development of methods and devices applied to sanitary engineering is indispensable. There are many methods and techniques of flow measurement in the area of sanitary engineering. Weirs and flumes are well–known methods and common used. But also there are alternative methods. Some of them are very simple methods, others are solutions using high technique. The old–time method combined with new technique could be more useful than earlier. However, current analysis is limited to the low frequency range. At medium and high frequencies, a rotational component appear in the field, masking the energy flow and make its understanding difficult or impossible. The objective of this work is to implement a methodology to filter out the rotational components of the structural intensity field in order to fully understand the energy flow in complex structures. The approach is based on the Helmholtz decomposition. It allows to decompose the structural intensity field into rotational, irrotational, and harmonic components. Only the irrotational component is needed to describe the net power flow from a source to a dissipative zone in the structure. The methodology has been applied on academic structures, and it allows a good analysis of the energy transfer paths. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20intensity" title="structural intensity">structural intensity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20flow" title=" power flow"> power flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=helmholt%20decomposition" title=" helmholt decomposition"> helmholt decomposition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=irrotational%20intensity" title=" irrotational intensity"> irrotational intensity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143536/vibration-propagation-in-structures-through-structural-intensity-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143536.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">39</span> Genetic Algorithms Based ACPS Safety</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Emine%20Laarouchi">Emine Laarouchi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniela%20Cancila"> Daniela Cancila</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Soulier"> Laurent Soulier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hakima%20Chaouchi"> Hakima Chaouchi </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cyber-Physical Systems as drones proved their efficiency for supporting emergency applications. For these particular applications, travel time and autonomous navigation algorithms are of paramount importance, especially when missions are performed in urban environments with high obstacle density. In this context, however, safety properties are not properly addressed. Our ambition is to optimize the system safety level under autonomous navigation systems, by preserving performance of the CPS. At this aim, we introduce genetic algorithms in the autonomous navigation process of the drone to better infer its trajectory considering the possible obstacles. We first model the wished safety requirements through a cost function and then seek to optimize it though genetics algorithms (GA). The main advantage in the use of GA is to consider different parameters together, for example, the level of battery for navigation system selection. Our tests show that the GA introduction in the autonomous navigation systems minimize the risk of safety lossless. Finally, although our simulation has been tested for autonomous drones, our approach and results could be extended for other autonomous navigation systems such as autonomous cars, robots, etc. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety" title="safety">safety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unmanned%20aerial%20vehicles" title=" unmanned aerial vehicles "> unmanned aerial vehicles </a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CPS" title=" CPS"> CPS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ACPS" title=" ACPS"> ACPS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drones" title=" drones"> drones</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=path%20planning" title=" path planning"> path planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=genetic%20algorithms" title=" genetic algorithms"> genetic algorithms</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117828/genetic-algorithms-based-acps-safety" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117828.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">181</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">38</span> Production of Cement-Free Construction Materials via Fly Ash Carbonation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhenhua%20Wei">Zhenhua Wei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Falzone"> Gabriel Falzone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bu%20Wang"> Bu Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Pilon"> Laurent Pilon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gaurav%20Sant"> Gaurav Sant</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The production of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is a CO₂ intensive process. Specifically, cement clinkering reactions require not only substantial energy in the form of heat, but also result in the release of CO₂, from limestone decarbonation and the combustion of fuel. To overcome this CO₂ intensive process, clinkering-free cementation is demonstrated by the carbonation of fly ash; i.e., a by-product of coal combustion. It is shown that in moist environments and at sub-boiling temperatures, calcium-rich fly ashes readily react with gas-phase CO₂ to provide cementation. After seven days of CO₂ exposure at 75°C, such formulations achieve a compressive strength on the order of 35 MPa and take-up 9% CO₂ (by mass of the solid). On the other hand, calcium-deficient fly ashes, due to their lack of alkalinity (i.e., abundance of mobile Ca or Mg), show little if any potential for CO₂ uptake and strength gain. The role of the CO₂ concentration and processing temperature are discussed and linked to the progress of reactions, and the development of microstructure. The outcomes demonstrate a means for enabling clinkering-free cementation while enabling beneficial utilization of CO₂ and fly ash; i.e., two abundant but underutilized industrial by-products. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fly%20ash" title="fly ash">fly ash</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbonation" title=" carbonation"> carbonation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=concrete" title=" concrete"> concrete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strength" title=" strength"> strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73807/production-of-cement-free-construction-materials-via-fly-ash-carbonation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73807.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">251</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">37</span> Understanding the Thermal Resistance of Active Dry Yeast by Differential Scanning Calorimetry Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pauline%20Ribert">Pauline Ribert</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gaelle%20Roudaut"> Gaelle Roudaut</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sebastien%20Dupont"> Sebastien Dupont</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Beney"> Laurent Beney</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Yeasts, anhydrobiotic organisms, can survive extreme water disturbances, thanks to the prolonged and reversible suspension of their cellular activity as well as the establishment of a defense arsenal. This property is exploited by many industrialists. One of the protection systems implemented by yeast is the vitrification of its cytoplasm by trehalose. The thermal resistance of dry yeasts is a crucial parameter for their use. However, studies on the thermal resistance of dry yeasts are often based on yeasts produced in laboratory conditions with non-optimal drying processes. We, therefore, propose a study on the thermal resistance of industrial dry yeasts in relation to their thermophysical properties. Heat stress was applied at three temperatures (50, 75, and 100°C) for 10, 30, or 60-minute treatments. The survival of yeasts to these treatments was estimated, and their thermophysical properties were studied by differential scanning calorimetry. The industrial dry yeasts resisted 60 minutes at 50°C and 75°C and 10 minutes at a temperature close to 100°C. At 100°C, yeast was above their glass transition temperature. Industrial dry yeasts are therefore capable of withstanding high thermal stress if maintained in a specific thermophysical state. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry%20yeast" title="dry yeast">dry yeast</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glass%20transition" title=" glass transition"> glass transition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20resistance" title=" thermal resistance"> thermal resistance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vitrification" title=" vitrification"> vitrification</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128376/understanding-the-thermal-resistance-of-active-dry-yeast-by-differential-scanning-calorimetry-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128376.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">150</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">36</span> An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of the Death Practices and Rituals of the Isneg People in Apayao</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ivy%20Angelique%20Malit">Ivy Angelique Malit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marion%20Nicole%20Dela%20Vega"> Marion Nicole Dela Vega</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marjorie%20Mae%20Mendoza"> Marjorie Mae Mendoza</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Death practices and rituals of the Philippines is rich with facts about our history mostly on our beliefs of the afterlife before the arrival of the western culture which is still being practiced by the indigenous people of the Philippines. The death practices and rituals are acts of showing the inner thoughts, and feelings towards the person who died. The meanings behind those practices and rituals become the reason why the indigenous people still treasure these death practices and rituals as a part of their culture. This study seeks to know the experiences of the death practices and rituals of one of the Indigenous groups in Apayao, the Isnegs and the meaning of those experiences. The researchers aimed to look at it on a psychological lens. In which the researchers aim (1) to know their experiences of their death practices from the perspective of their thoughts, feelings and actions, and (2) to seek the meaning behind their death rituals. The design used in the research is a qualitative design and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. The participants were gathered by using purposive sampling. The researchers gathered the data from a form of a semi-structured interview with guide questions. The researchers used Thematic Analysis to analyze the verbatim transcriptions from the interview. The experiences of death practices and rituals of the Isneg people have been presented in the aspects of their thoughts, feelings and behavior. The experiences were presented with 7 superordinate themes namely, (1) Refusal of Reality (2) Feelings of mixed emotions (3) Oblivious Acts of the participants (4) Conflict with self and culture (5) Negative thinking of the participants (6) Process of Acceptance (8) Act of Love. The make meaning behind the death practices and rituals of the Isneg people have been presented with 2 superordinate themes, (1) Act of Respect and (2) Act of Loyalty. The results of the research show that the experiences and meaning behind their death practices and burials were being based more by their own beliefs. In their culture, which has been passed through by their ancestors and becomes the foundation of their beliefs and their newly found religion which was introduced by the travelling missionaries. Doing those death practices and rituals is their way to show their affections, like respect and loyalty towards the person who died. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=death%20practices" title="death practices">death practices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interpretative%20phenomenological%20analysis" title=" interpretative phenomenological analysis"> interpretative phenomenological analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=isneg%20people" title=" isneg people"> isneg people</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rituals" title=" rituals"> rituals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=theory%20of%20grieving" title=" theory of grieving"> theory of grieving</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63083/an-interpretative-phenomenological-analysis-of-the-death-practices-and-rituals-of-the-isneg-people-in-apayao" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63083.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">254</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">35</span> Development and Characterization of a Bio-Sourced Composite Material Based on Phase Change Material and Hemp Shives</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hachmi%20Toifane">Hachmi Toifane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pierre%20Tittelein"> Pierre Tittelein</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anh%20Dung%20Tran%20Le"> Anh Dung Tran Le</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Zalewsi"> Laurent Zalewsi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study introduces a composite material composed of bio-sourced phase-change material (PCM) of plant origin combined with hemp shives, developed in response to environmental challenges in the construction sector. The state of the art emphasizes the low thermal storage capacity of bio-based materials and highlights increasing need for developing sustainable materials that offer optimal thermal, mechanical, and hydric performances. The combining of PCM's thermal properties and hygric properties of hemp shives results in a material that combines lightness, strength, and hygrothermal regulation. Various formulations are being assessed and compared to conventional hemp concrete. Thermal characterization includes the measurements of thermal conductivity and numerical simulations to evaluate the thermal storage capacity. The results indicate that the addition of PCM significantly enhances the material's thermal storage capacity, positioning this one as a promising, eco-friendly solution for sustainable construction and for improving the energy efficiency of buildings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hemp%20composite" title="hemp composite">hemp composite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bio-sourced%20phase%20change%20material" title=" bio-sourced phase change material"> bio-sourced phase change material</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20storage" title=" thermal storage"> thermal storage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hemp%20shives" title=" hemp shives"> hemp shives</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178263/development-and-characterization-of-a-bio-sourced-composite-material-based-on-phase-change-material-and-hemp-shives" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178263.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">45</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">34</span> 3D Interferometric Imaging Using Compressive Hardware Technique</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mor%20Diama%20L.%20O.">Mor Diama L. Interferometric ISAR (InISAR) imaging relies on a two-dimensional antenna array providing diversities in the elevation and azimuth directions. However, the signals measured over several antennas must be acquired by coherent receivers resulting in costly and complex hardware. This paper proposes to use a chaotic cavity as a compressive device to encode the signals arising from several antennas into a single output port. These signals are then reconstructed by solving an inverse problem. Our approach is demonstrated experimentally with a 3-elements L-shape array connected to a metallic compressive enclosure. The interferometric phases estimated from a unique broadband signal are used to jointly estimate the target’s effective rotation rate and the height of the dominant scattering centers of our target. Our experimental results show that the use of the compressive device does not adversely affect the performance of our imaging process. This study opens new perspectives to reduce the hardware complexity of high-resolution ISAR systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interferometric%20imaging" title="interferometric imaging">interferometric imaging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inverse%20synthetic%20aperture%20radar" title=" inverse synthetic aperture radar"> inverse synthetic aperture radar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compressive%20device" title=" compressive device"> compressive device</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20imaging" title=" computational imaging"> computational imaging</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134472/3d-interferometric-imaging-using-compressive-hardware-technique" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134472.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">160</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">33</span> Nonlinear Analysis of Postural Sway in Multiple Sclerosis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hua%20Cao">Hua Cao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Peyrodie"> Laurent Peyrodie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Olivier%20Agnani"> Olivier Agnani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cecile%20Donze"> Cecile Donze</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease, which affects the central nervous system, and causes balance problem. In clinical, this disorder is usually evaluated using static posturography. Some linear or nonlinear measures, extracted from the posturographic data (i.e. center of pressure, COP) recorded during a balance test, has been used to analyze postural control of MS patients. In this study, the trend (TREND) and the sample entropy (SampEn), two nonlinear parameters were chosen to investigate their relationships with the expanded disability status scale (EDSS) score. Forty volunteers with different EDSS scores participated in our experiments with eyes open (EO) and closed (EC). TREND and two types of SampEn (SampEn1 and SampEn2) were calculated for each combined COP’s position signal. The results have shown that TREND had a weak negative correlation to EDSS while SampEn2 had a strong positive correlation to EDSS. Compared to TREND and SampEn1, SampEn2 showed a better significant correlation to EDSS and an ability to discriminate the MS patients in the EC case. In addition, the outcome of the study suggests that the multi-dimensional nonlinear analysis could provide some information about the impact of disability progression in MS on dynamics of the COP data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=balance" title="balance">balance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20sclerosis" title=" multiple sclerosis"> multiple sclerosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20analysis" title=" nonlinear analysis"> nonlinear analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=postural%20sway" title=" postural sway"> postural sway</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40541/nonlinear-analysis-of-postural-sway-in-multiple-sclerosis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40541.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">338</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">32</span> Evaluation of Deteriorated Fired Clay Bricks Based on Schmidt Hammer Tests</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Debailleux">Laurent Debailleux</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Although past research has focused on parameters influencing the vulnerability of brick and its decay, in practice ancient fired clay bricks are usually replaced without any particular assessment of their characteristics. This paper presents results of non-destructive Schmidt hammer tests performed on ancient fired clay bricks sampled from historic masonry. Samples under study were manufactured between the 18th and 20th century and came from facades and interior walls. Tests were performed on three distinct brick surfaces, depending on their position within the masonry unit. Schmidt hammer tests were carried out in order to measure the mean rebound value (Rn), which refers to the resistance of the surface to successive impacts of the hammer plunger tip. Results indicate that rebound values increased with successive impacts at the same point. Therefore, mean Schmidt hammer rebound values (Rn), limited to the first impact on a surface minimises the estimation of compressive strength. In addition, the results illustrate that this technique is sensitive enough to measure weathering differences, even for different surfaces of a particular sample. Finally, the paper also highlights the relevance of considering the position of the brick within the masonry when conducting particular assessments of the material’s strength. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brick" title="brick">brick</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-destructive%20tests" title=" non-destructive tests"> non-destructive tests</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rebound%20number" title=" rebound number"> rebound number</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Schmidt%20hammer" title=" Schmidt hammer"> Schmidt hammer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weathering%20grade" title=" weathering grade"> weathering grade</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80252/evaluation-of-deteriorated-fired-clay-bricks-based-on-schmidt-hammer-tests" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80252.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">161</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">31</span> The Causes and Effects of Poor Household Sanitation: Case Study of Kansanga Parish</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rosine%20Angelique%20Uwacu">Rosine Angelique Uwacu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Poor household sanitation is rife in Uganda, especially in Kampala. This study was carried out with he goal of establishing the main causes and effects of poor household sanitation in Kansanga parish. The study objectively sought to: To identify various ways through which wastes are generated and disposed of in Kansanga parish, identify different hygiene procedures/behaviors of waste handling in Kansanga parish and assess health effects of poor household sanitation and suggest the recommended appropriate measures of addressing cases of lack of hygiene in Kansanga parish. The study used a survey method where cluster sampling was employed. This is because there is no register of population or sufficient information, or geographic distribution of individuals is widely scattered. Data was collected through the use of interviews accompanied by observation and questionnaires. The study involved a sample of 100 households. The study revealed that; some households use wheeled bin collection, skip hire and roll on/off contained others take their wastes to refuse collection vehicles. Surprisingly, majority of the households submitted that they use polythene bags 'Kavera' and at times plastic sacs to dispose of their wastes which are dumped in drainage patterns or dustbins and other illegal dumping site. The study showed that washing hands with small jerrycans after using the toilet was being adopted by most households as there were no or few other alternatives. The study revealed that the common health effects that come as a result of poor household sanitation in Kansanga Parish are diseases outbreaks such as malaria, typhoid and diarrhea. Finally, the study gave a number of recommendations or suggestions on maintaining and achieving an adequate household sanitation in Kansanga Parish such as sensitization of community members by their leaders like Local Counselors could help to improve the situation, establishment of community sanitation days for people to collectively and voluntarily carry out good sanitation practices like digging trenches, burning garbage and proper waste management and disposal. Authorities like Kampala Capital City Authority should distribute dumping containers or allocate dumping sites where people can dispose of their wastes preferably at a minimum cost for proper management. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=household%20sanitation" title="household sanitation">household sanitation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kansanga%20parish" title=" kansanga parish"> kansanga parish</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Uganda" title=" Uganda"> Uganda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=waste" title=" waste"> waste</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84133/the-causes-and-effects-of-poor-household-sanitation-case-study-of-kansanga-parish" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84133.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">190</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">30</span> Proposition of an Intelligent System Based on the Augmented Reality for Warehouse Logistics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Safa%20Gharbi">Safa Gharbi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hayfa%20Zgaya"> Hayfa Zgaya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nesrine%20Zoghlami"> Nesrine Zoghlami</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Slim%20Hammadi"> Slim Hammadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cyril%20De%20Barbarin"> Cyril De Barbarin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Vinatier"> Laurent Vinatier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christiane%20Coupier"> Christiane Coupier</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Increasing productivity and quality of service, improving the working comfort and ensuring the efficiency of all processes are important challenges for every warehouse. The order picking is recognized to be the most important and costly activity of all the process in warehouses. This paper presents a new approach using Augmented Reality (AR) in the field of logistics. It aims to create a Head-Up Display (HUD) interface with a Warehouse Management System (WMS), using AR glasses. Integrating AR technology allows the optimization of order picking by reducing time of picking process, increasing the efficiency and delivering quickly. The picker will be able to access immediately to all the information needed for his tasks. All the information is displayed when needed in the field of vision (FOV) of the operator, without any action requested from him. For example, if we respond to a target in the presence of distractors, an important aspect under study is whether the distractor and the target share a common response (compatible) or not (incompatible). Some studies have found that compatible objects tend to be groups together and stored in episodic memory, whereas others found that targets in the presence of incompatible distractors are remembered better. Our current research seems to support both views. We used a Tulving-based definition of episodic memory to differentiate memory from episodic and non-episodic traces. In this task, participants first had to classify a blue object as human or animal (target) which appeared in the presence of a green one (distractor) that could belong to the same category of the target (compatible), to the opposite (incompatible) or to an irrelevant one (neutral). Later they had to report the identity (What), location (Where) and time (When) of both target objects (which had been previously responded to) and distractors (which had been ignored). Episodic memory was inferred when the three scene properties (identity, location and time) were correct. The measure of non-episodic memory consisted of those trials in which the identity was correctly remembered, but not the location or time. Our results showed that episodic memory for compatible stimuli is significantly superior to incompatible ones. In sharp contrast, non-episodic measures found superior memory for targets in the presence of incompatible distractors. Our results demonstrate that response compatibility affects the encoding of episodic and non-episodic memory traces in different ways. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=episodic%20memory" title="episodic memory">episodic memory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=action%20systems" title=" action systems"> action systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compatible%20response" title=" compatible response"> compatible response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=what-where-when%20task" title=" what-where-when task"> what-where-when task</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100701/evidences-for-better-recall-with-compatible-items-in-episodic-memory" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100701.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">176</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Production of Nitric Oxide by Thienopyrimidine TP053</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elena%20G.%20Salina">Elena G. Evidently, new drugs for tuberculosis are urgently needed. Thienopyrimidine TP053 is one of the most promising new antitubercular prodrugs. Mycothiol-dependent reductase Mrx2, encoded by rv2466c, is known to be a TP053 activator; however, the precise mode of action of this compound remained unclear. Being highly active against both replicating and non-replicating tuberculosis bacilli, TP053 also revealed dose-escalating activity for M. tuberculosis-infected murine macrophages. The chemical structure of TP053 is characterized by the presence of NO₂ group which was suggested to be responsible for the toxic effects of the activated compound. Reduction of a nitroaromatic moiety of TP53 by Mrx2 was hypothesized to result in NO release. Analysis of the products of enzymatic activation of TP053 by Mrx2 by the Greiss reagent clearly demonstrated production of nitric oxide in a time-dependent manner. Mass-spectra of cell lysates of TP-treated M. tuberculosis bacilli demonstrated the transformation of TP053 to its non-active metabolite with Mw=261 that corresponds NO release. The mechanism of NO toxicity for bacteria includes DNA damage and degradation of iron-sulfur centers, especially under oxygen depletion. Thus, TP-053 drug-like scaffold is prospective for further development of novel anti-TB drug. As an example, in turbo and hydro generators, excessively high vibrations of the end-windings can lead to dramatic damages, imposing very high, additional service costs. A significant change of the generator temperature can also be an indicator of the system failure. Continuous monitoring of vibrations, temperature, humidity, and gases is therefore mandatory. The high electromagnetic fields in the generators impose the use of non-conductive devices in order to prevent electromagnetic interferences and to electrically isolate the sensing element to the electronic readout. Metal-free sensors are good candidates for such systems since they are immune to very strong electromagnetic fields and given the fact that they are non-conductive. We have realized miniature optical accelerometer and temperature sensors for a remote sensing of the harsh environments using the common, inexpensive silicon Micro Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) platform. Both devices show highly linear response. The accelerometer has a deviation within 1% from the linear fit when tested in a range 0 – 40 g. The temperature sensor can provide the measurement accuracy better than 1 °C in a range 20 – 150 °C. The design of other type of sensors for the environments with high electromagnetic interferences has also been discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20MEMS" title="optical MEMS">optical MEMS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temperature%20sensor" title=" temperature sensor"> temperature sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=accelerometer" title=" accelerometer"> accelerometer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=remote%20sensing" title=" remote sensing"> remote sensing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=harsh%20environment" title=" harsh environment"> harsh environment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65332/compact-optical-sensors-for-harsh-environments" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65332.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">367</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> An Investigation of the Relationship Between Privacy Crisis, Public Discourse on Privacy, and Key Performance Indicators at Facebook (2004–2021)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prajwal%20Eachempati">Prajwal Eachempati</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Muzellec"> Laurent Muzellec</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashish%20Kumar%20Jha"> Ashish Kumar Jha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We use Facebook as a case study to investigate the complex relationship between the firm’s public discourse (and actions) surrounding data privacy and the performance of a business model based on monetizing user’s data. We do so by looking at the evolution of public discourse over time (2004–2021) and relate topics to revenue and stock market evolution Drawing from archival sources like Zuckerberg We use LDA topic modelling algorithm to reveal 19 topics regrouped in 6 major themes. We first show how, by using persuasive and convincing language that promises better protection of consumer data usage, but also emphasizes greater user control over their own data, the privacy issue is being reframed as one of greater user control and responsibility. Second, we aim to understand and put a value on the extent to which privacy disclosures have a potential impact on the financial performance of social media firms. There we found significant relationship between the topics pertaining to privacy and social media/technology, sentiment score and stock market prices. Revenue is found to be impacted by topics pertaining to politics and new product and service innovations while number of active users is not impacted by the topics unless moderated by external control variables like Return on Assets and Brand Equity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=public%20discourses" title="public discourses">public discourses</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20protection" title=" data protection"> data protection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20media" title=" social media"> social media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=privacy" title=" privacy"> privacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=topic%20modeling" title=" topic modeling"> topic modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20models" title=" business models"> business models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20performance" title=" financial performance"> financial performance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149047/an-investigation-of-the-relationship-between-privacy-crisis-public-discourse-on-privacy-and-key-performance-indicators-at-facebook-2004-2021" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149047.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">92</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">25</span> Evaluating the Impact of Marine Protected Areas on Human-Shark Interactions at a Global Scale</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Delphine%20Duval">Delphine Duval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morgan%20Mangeas"> Morgan Mangeas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Charlie%20Huveneers"> Charlie Huveneers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adam%20Barnett"> Adam Barnett</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurent%20Vigliola"> Laurent Vigliola</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The global number of shark bites has increased over the past four decades with, however, high regional variability both in space and time. A systematic review, aligned with the 2020 PRISMA guidelines, explored the peer-reviewed literature published between 1960 and 2023 to identify factors potentially explaining trends in human-shark interactions. Results revealed that variations in the frequency of human-shark interactions could be explained by a plethora of factors, including changes in prey availability, environmental conditions, human and shark population density and behavior, as well as habitat destruction. However, to our best knowledge, only five studies have conducted statistical assessments of the relative contribution of these factors. The increased number in human-shark interactions and the frequent clusters of shark bites within short timeframes offer opportunities to test the causative factors that may explain trends in unprovoked shark bites. it study aims to evaluate the impact of marine protected areas (MPAs) on the number of human-shark interactions, using data from the Global Shark Attack File and the World Database on Protected Areas. Results indicate contrasting effects of MPAs at different spatial scales. Enhancing our understanding of the factors contributing to shark bites is essential for improving risk reduction policies for humans and conservation plans for shark populations. <p
