and champion Katherin Bates. </p> <p>In the first heat, Mactier, a silver medallist in Athens, clocked 3 minutes 30.29 seconds to break the previous mark of 3:32.46 set by Sarah Ulmer (New Zealand) four years ago in Manchester. <br/><br/>"It was awesome, exciting," said Mactier of her win.<br/><br/>"It was pressure coming into the race, the eyes of the nation were on me.
