五、三江、两江的学制、课程与教学</h3> </div> <div class="title"> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> <strong>（一）三江时期：灵活多样的学制</strong> </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 张之洞在《创建三江师范学堂折》对三江的定位是：培养苏、皖、赣三省的中小学堂教员。计划前三年专办初级师范，分一年速成科、两年速成科和三年本科等三级学制，毕业生“陆续派赴各州县充小学堂教员”；第四年则开办“高等师范本科”，旨在培养中学堂教员。1904年三江共招生300名，即按三种学制进行培养。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 1.最速成科。学制一年。开设修身、历史、文学、舆地、算学、体操、英文、教育、理化概说、博物、生理卫生、图画、手工、东（日）文等课程，每周授课36学时。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 2.速成科。学制两年。所学课程较最速成科增加了农学和法制经济等，且课程程度也明显加深。但每周仍为36学时。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 3.初级师范本科。学制三年，较《奏定初级师范学堂章程》规定的“完全科”学制缩短二年。三江师范本科共开设17门课程：修身（经学）、历史、教育、文学、舆地、算学、物理、化学、生理、博物、图画、农学、法制经济、手工、体操、英文、东（日）文。与奏定章程对“完全科” 规定的课程相比，减去了“习字”，把“读经讲经”与“修身”合为一门，同时增加了生理、农学、法制经济、手工、英文、东文等6门课。很显然，三江的本科比较注重课程的实用性和现代性，学生除修习数理化、农博、手工外，还修读两门外语，同时能学到有关国家政治、法律、财政、生产及交易、消费等方面的理论与知识。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> <strong>（二）两江时期：改制和提高内涵</strong> </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 1906年5月，三江师范更名为两江优级师范学堂，李瑞清出任学堂监督。他面临的任务是：提高两江的内涵和课程的专业化程度，把两江办成专门培养中学堂师资的优级师范学堂。他的雄心得到了新聘日本总教习松本孝次郎的支持。松本曾任东京高等师范学校总教习、教授，1902年出版了专著《新编教育学》，是一个既有理论又具丰富实践经验的学者。他认同李瑞清的变革理念，帮助他制订改制计划，欲将两江师范发展为“华中、华南地区规模最大、程度最高的一所师范学堂”。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 1.开办优级本科之“公共科”。两江师范自1906年7月起，开办优级师范本科之“公共科”，学制较富弹性，根据学生程度的不同而修读一至三年。主要是修读人伦道德、群经源流、中国文学、东语、英语、逻辑、算学、体操等公共通识课程，为进入“分类科”打基础。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 2.开办“分类科”之“选科”。1907年10月，两江师范开设优级本科之“分类科”。所谓“分类科”，就是在完成“公共科”学习之后进行的分学科的专业教育，其专业性加强，程度提高，因而不同于初级本科的“完全科”。两江师范开设了理化数学部、农学博物部和图画手工等三个“选科”，学制二年。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 3.招考“预科”及“补习科”。由于当时各地中学及初级师范举办不久，尚未普及，毕业生甚少。因此，优级本科的“公共科”和“选科”往往生源短缺，学生程度参差不齐。两江师范就采取灵活变通的办法，从1907年9月至1908年2月，先后招考了历史地理选科的两个“预科班”和三个“补习科”。学制一年，旨在为本科“选科”招收足额的合格生源。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 4.停办初级师范本科。1907年底第一届初级师范本科学生毕业。两江师范决定，从1908年起停办初级本科，专办优级师范本科，并以分类科为主，强调专业化培养。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 5.重视实验、动手，兼顾理论、实践。开设“选科”与“补习科”，是两江师范的一个特色，也是《奏定优级师范学堂章程》所无而两江自创的东西。两江师范的分类科和选科，注重动手、不尚空谈的特点十分突出。如农学博物科每周授课26小时，其中专业课程占到一半，另外每周的实验共有9次：植物学3次，动物学2次，矿物学2次，农学2次。受到李瑞清特别关注的图画手工选科，每周授课21-24小时，另有试验或习作5次。所学课程还包括数学、物理和音乐。两江师范学堂建有木工场、金工场、农场和养蚕室，令那些传统科举制度下成长起来、热衷功名、鄙薄民生的学子，受到手脑并用的实践锻炼。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 有研究者认为，两江师范学堂的这些做法，“颇具时代意义”，“即令与同一时期的日本早稻田大学优级师范相比，也不逊色。”（苏云峰：《三（两）江师范学堂：南京大学的前身》，第54页。） </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> <strong>（三）三江、两江的招生</strong> </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 1.三江原定招生定额900人。张之洞《创建三江师范学堂折》确定学额为900人。其中江苏省500人（宁属、苏属各定额250人），安徽省定额200人，江西省定额200人。开学第一年先招师范生600名，三年后再续招足额。但1904年秋两次招考，仅录取300人，为原定头年招生数的一半。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 实际上，学堂的招生主要集中在三个阶段。其一为1904年秋冬，此时的招生对象为“举贡廪增生员”，即有传统功名者；其二为1906至1908年春，三江更名为两江后，专办优级本科，改以中学堂和初级师范毕业生为招生对象，但合格生源不足，只好放宽条件，频频招生，多个批次共招生773人，其中包括“预科”和“补习科”；其三是1910年春和1911年春，此时已有较多的合格考生，两江发展也已步入正规，招生规模扩大，据李瑞清的报告，1911年7月间，两江师范学堂在堂学生共有十三个班599人。（李瑞清：《两江师范学堂办政报告书》，《教育杂志》第三年第3期，第73页。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> <strong>（四）三江、两江的教育质量</strong> </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 三江、两江前后开办八年，至1910年时共有毕业生919名，其中三江时期毕业117人，大都到小学堂任教；两江时期毕业802人，包括程度较高之“分类科”和“选科”的毕业生248人，（宣统三年一月二十三日《政治官报》，第15～16页。）他们一般取得中学堂或初级师范教员的资格，他们的视野、抱负、学养和能力，在学界和社会得到好评。1909年7月和1910年6月，两江师范的学生分别参加了江苏“全省学堂成绩作品展览会”和“第一次南洋劝业会”。两江师范学堂的陈列品，如理化实验报告、物理器械、动植物标本、手工制品和美术作品等等，是最引人注目的部分，“观者莫不啧啧称赞”。又如1910年初上海《时报》报道说：“两江师范学堂本科学生已满五年二级者共有三百余人，将举行毕业……唯各学堂在事人员，多系从前速成学生。该班一出，定行压倒侪辈，故刻下旧日之师范生异常惶恐云。”（宣统元年十一月二十四日《时报》。） </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 三江、两江毕业生中，不乏著作等身的饱学之士和自成一家的一代宗师。其中有： </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 胡小石（1888～1962），名光炜，字小石，号倩尹、夏庐。1906年9月考取两江优级师范学堂预科，翌年插班入农学博物分类科，1909年毕业。国学、诗文、书法均得到李瑞清的指点，对古文字声韵训诂、佛典道藏、金石书画的研究造诣精深。历任北京女子高等师范学校、金陵大学、东南大学、中央大学教授、系主任、文学院院长，1949年后任南京大学文学院院长、图书馆馆长等职。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 吕凤子（1888～1959），又名吕濬，字凤痴。江苏丹阳人。1910年1月毕业于两江优级师范学堂图画手工选科。擅图画、金石、雕刻、书法及诗词。是我国近代艺术教育的开创者。民国初年创办丹阳正则女子初等学校，后发展为正则艺专，另创办南京美专并任校长。历任北京女子高等师范学校、南京高等师范学校、东南大学、中央大学教授。 </p> <p style="line-height: 2em; text-indent: 2em;"> 陈中凡（1888～1982），原名钟凡、宗藩，字觉云。江苏建湖人。其叔父陈玉树曾是三江师范学堂的提调。1910年2月考入两江优级师范学堂公共科。毕业后考取北京大学哲学系。1918年后，历任北京北京女子高等师范学校国文部主任、东南大学国文系主任，广东大学、暨南大学中文系教授兼文学院院长，金陵大学国文系教授，1949年后任南京大学中文系教授。在诸子群经、书目学、先秦两汉文学史等领域造诣颇深。 </p>
