<P>　烟台市地处山东半岛东部，东连威海，西接潍坊，西南与青岛毗邻，濒临渤海和黄海，与日本和朝鲜半岛隔海相望，是我国首批沿海开放城市之一，是环渤海经济圈内以及东亚地区国际性港城、商城、旅游城。烟台依山傍海，气候宜人，冬无严寒，夏无酷暑，是我国北方著名的旅游避暑和休闲度假胜地。</P> <P> <img src="https://p1.cncnimg.cn/t/h/info_8838_0.jpg" onload="javascript:if(this.width>500){this.height=500/this.width*this.height;this.width=500;}">　　烟台历史悠久，古称芝罘。《史记》记载，秦始皇统一中国后，曾三次东巡，三次登临芝罘岛；汉武帝也曾驾临芝罘行登基大典。烟台建城已有600多年历史，公元1398年（明洪武31年），为防海寇侵扰，在芝罘筑狼烟墩台，又称“狼烟台”，烟台由此而得名。 </P> <P align=justify>　　烟台地形为低山丘陵区，山丘起伏和缓，沟壑纵横交错。山地占总面积的36.62%，丘陵占39.7%，平原占20.78%，洼地占2.90%。低山区位于市域中部，主要由大泽山、艾山、罗山、牙山、磁山、蛤山卢山、山昔山、昆嵛山、玉皇山、招虎山等构成，山体多由花岗岩组成，海拔在500米以上，最高峰为昆嵛山，海拔922.8米。丘陵区分布于低山区周围及其延伸部分，海拔100～300米，起伏和缓，连绵逶迤，山坡平缓，沟谷浅宽，沟谷内冲洪积物发育，土层较厚。因烟台市域降水较充沛，空气湿润，气候温和，低山丘陵一年四季林木葱茏，明媚如画。春天，满山苍翠，花香袭人；夏日，郁郁葱葱，一片生机；秋季，果林红叶，五彩纷呈；到隆冬时节，银装素裹，玲珑剔透。</P> align=justify>　　市域内，河网较发育，中小河流众多，长度在5公里以上河流121条，其中流城面积300平方公里以上的河有五龙河、大沽河、大沽夹河、王河、界河、黄水河和辛安河7条。主要河流以绵亘东西的昆嵛山、牙山、艾山、罗山、大泽山所形成的“胶东屋脊”为分水岭，南北分流入海。向南流入黄海的有五龙河、大沽河；向北流入黄海的有大沽夹河和辛安河；流入渤海的有黄水河、界河和王河。其特点，河床比降大，源短流急，暴涨暴落，属季风雨源型河流。其冲积而形成小平原沙土层厚而肥沃，盛产苹果、大樱桃、梨和葡萄。</P>
