Pour l’édition 2022, le GES souhaite encourager deux séries de propositions de communication portant sur les rapports de l’&oelig;uvre sartrienne aux questions de classe, race et genre d’une part, et sur <em>L’Idiot de la famille</em> d’autre part. Héritiers, héritages du music-hall (XVIII<sup>e-</sup>XXI<sup>e</sup> siècle) » propose d’ouvrir un chantier de recherche sur le music-hall, en explorant les racines historiographiques de ce divertissement, dans le contexte euro-américain, et sur une large période comprise entre les prémices des cafés-spectacles au XVIII<sup>e</sup> siècle jusqu’au music-hall contemporain. En revenant à l’histoire du radicalisme, l’inversion sémantique frappe : les « radicals » étant ceux, en 1797, qui parmi l’opposition anglaise au gouvernement de William Pitt, demandaient une réforme « radicale » du Parlement pour le démocratiser, étant ainsi accusés de faire le lit des « jacobins » français. Ce n’est pourtant pas l’histoire de cette évolution sémantique, bien connue, qu’il s’agit ici de faire. Traduisant aussi bien une butée sur laquelle cogne la démocratie libérale et son incapacité à penser son opposition, érigeant ainsi une frontière avec l’Autre, ces mots paraissent traduire une crise interne plutôt qu’externe (aussi bien aujourd’hui que dans l’Angleterre de la fin du XVIIIe siècle).
