The aim of this article was to draw upon mathematical theory to prove that brackets cannot be arbitrarily inserted into expressions involving multiplication and division and in particular in expressions where division precedes multiplication. In doing so, it demonstrates that the notion that two different answers are possible, when evaluating expressions involving multiplication and division, is indeed a false one. Searches conducted in a number of scholarly databases unearthed the rules to be applied when removing brackets from expressions, which revealed that consideration needs to be given to sign changes when brackets are removed. The rule pertaining to expressions involving multiplication and division was then extended upon, in its reverse format, to prove that brackets cannot be arbitrarily inserted into expressions involving multiplication and division. The application of the rule demonstrates that an expression involving multiplication and division can have only one correct answer. It is recommended that both the rule and its reverse be included in the curriculum, preferably at the juncture when manipulation with brackets is introduced. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brackets" title="brackets">brackets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiplications%20and%20division" title=" multiplications and division"> multiplications and division</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=operations" title=" operations"> operations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=order" title=" order"> order</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132918/the-fallacy-around-inserting-brackets-to-evaluate-expressions-involving-multiplication-and-division" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132918.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">160</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">482</span> A Quantum Leap: Developing Quantum Semi-Structured Complex Numbers to Solve the “Division by Zero” Problem</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peter%20Jean-Paul">Peter Jean-Paul</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shanaz%20Wahid"> Shanaz Wahid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The problem of division by zero can be stated as: “what is the value of 0 x 1/0?” This expression has been considered undefined by mathematicians because it can have two equally valid solutions either 0 or 1. Recently semi-structured complex number set was invented to solve “division by zero”. However, whilst the number set had some merits it was considered to have a poor theoretical foundation and did not provide a quality solution to “division by zero”. Moreover, the set lacked consistency in simple algebraic calculations producing contradictory results when dividing by zero. To overcome these issues this research starts by treating the expression " 0 x 1/0" as a quantum mechanical system that produces two tangled results 0 and 1. Dirac Notation (a tool from quantum mechanics) was then used to redefine the unstructured unit p in semi-structured complex numbers so that p represents the superposition of two results (0 and 1) and collapses into a single value when used in algebraic expressions. In the process, this paper describes a new number set called Quantum Semi-structured Complex Numbers that provides a valid solution to the problem of “division by zero”. This research shows that this new set (1) forms a “Field”, (2) can produce consistent results when solving division by zero problems, (3) can be used to accurately describe systems whose mathematical descriptions involve division by zero. This research served to provide a firm foundation for Quantum Semi-structured Complex Numbers and support their practical use. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=division%20by%20zero" title="division by zero">division by zero</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semi-structured%20complex%20numbers" title=" semi-structured complex numbers"> semi-structured complex numbers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20mechanics" title=" quantum mechanics"> quantum mechanics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hilbert%20space" title=" Hilbert space"> Hilbert space</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Euclidean%20space" title=" Euclidean space"> Euclidean space</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143814/a-quantum-leap-developing-quantum-semi-structured-complex-numbers-to-solve-the-division-by-zero-problem" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143814.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">157</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">481</span> The Transformative Landscape of the University of the Western Cape’s Elearning Center: Institutionalizing ELearning</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paul%20Dankers">Paul Dankers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Juliet%20Stoltenkamp"> Juliet Stoltenkamp</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carolynne%20Kies"> Carolynne Kies</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In May 2005, the University of the Western Cape (UWC) established an eLearning Division (ED) that, over the past 18 years, accelerated into the institutionalization of an efficient eLearning Centre. The initial objective of the ED was to incessantly align itself with emerging technologies caused by digital transformation, which progressively impacted Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) globally. In this paper, we present how the UWC eLearning Division (ED) first evolved into the eLearning Development and Support Unit (EDUS), currently called the ‘Centre for Innovative Education and Communication Technologies (CIECT). CIECT was strategically separated from the Department of Information and Communication Services (ICS) in 2009 and repositioned as an independent structure at UWC. Using a comparative research method, we highlight the transformative eLearning landscape at UWC by doing a detailed account of the shift in practices. Our research method will determine the initial vision and outcomes of institutionalizing an eLearning division. The study aims to compare across space or time the eLearning division’s rate of growth. By comparing the progressive growth of the UWCs eLearning division over the years, we will be able to document the successes and achievements of the eLearning division precisely. This study’s outcomes will act as a reference for novel research subjects on formalising eLearning. More research that delves into the effectiveness of having an eLearning division at HEIs in support of students’ teaching and learning is needed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eLearning" title="eLearning">eLearning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=institutionalization" title=" institutionalization"> institutionalization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=teaching%20and%20learning" title=" teaching and learning"> teaching and learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transformation" title=" transformation"> transformation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/187549/the-transformative-landscape-of-the-university-of-the-western-capes-elearning-center-institutionalizing-elearning" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/187549.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">40</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">480</span> The Origin Variability of the Obturator Artery</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Halimah%20Al%20Hifzi">Halimah Al Hifzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Waseem%20Al-Talalwah"> Waseem Al-Talalwah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shorok%20Al%20Dorazi"> Shorok Al Dorazi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Al%20Mousa"> Hassan Al Mousa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zainab%20Al-Hashim"> Zainab Al-Hashim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roger%20Soames"> Roger Soames</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The obturator artery is one branches of anterior division of the internal iliac artery. It passes on the lateral wall of pelvis to escape into thigh region via obturator foremen. Based on previous research studies, it found to be extremely variable in origin and course. It may arise from internal or external iliac artery. The current study includes 82 dissected specimens to investigate the origin of the obturator artery and explain the clinical importance. The obturator artery arises from the internal iliac artery in 75% either from its anterior or posterior division in 46.9% or 25% respectively. Further, it arises neither from the anterior nor posterior division of the internal iliac artery but it arises between them in 3.1%. In 25%, the obturator artery arises from the external iliac artery. In case of aneurysmectomy of posterior division, carries a high risk of insufficient of vascular supply for demand structures such as proximal adductors attachment and hip joint. Therefore, vascular surgeons have to pay attention to the posterior division being an origin of the obturator artery beside its usual three classical branches: superior gluteal, iliolumbar and lateral sacral arteries. Further, the obturator artery arising from the external iliac system is in great dangerous of laceration in case of anterior pelvic fracture. Therefore, it may lead to haemorrhagic shock threatening life. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=obturator%20artery" title="obturator artery">obturator artery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=external%20iliac" title=" external iliac"> external iliac</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internal%20iliac%20artery" title=" internal iliac artery"> internal iliac artery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anterior%20division" title=" anterior division"> anterior division</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=posterior%20division" title=" posterior division"> posterior division</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=superior%20gluteal" title=" superior gluteal"> superior gluteal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=iliolumbar%20and%20lateral%20sacral" title=" iliolumbar and lateral sacral"> iliolumbar and lateral sacral</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pubic%20fracture" title=" pubic fracture"> pubic fracture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aneurysm" title=" aneurysm"> aneurysm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shock" title=" shock"> shock</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31813/the-origin-variability-of-the-obturator-artery" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31813.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">357</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">479</span> Efficiency and Scale Elasticity in Network Data Envelopment Analysis: An Application to International Tourist Hotels in Taiwan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li-Hsueh%20Chen">Li-Hsueh Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Efficient operation is more and more important for managers of hotels. Unlike the manufacturing industry, hotels cannot store their products. In addition, many hotels provide room service, and food and beverage service simultaneously. When efficiencies of hotels are evaluated, the internal structure should be considered. Hence, based on the operational characteristics of hotels, this study proposes a DEA model to simultaneously assess the efficiencies among the room production division, food and beverage production division, room service division and food and beverage service division. However, not only the enhancement of efficiency but also the adjustment of scale can improve the performance. In terms of the adjustment of scale, scale elasticity or returns to scale can help to managers to make decisions concerning expansion or contraction. In order to construct a reasonable approach to measure the efficiencies and scale elasticities of hotels, this study builds an alternative variable-returns-to-scale-based two-stage network DEA model with the combination of parallel and series structures to explore the scale elasticities of the whole system, room production division, food and beverage production division, room service division and food and beverage service division based on the data of international tourist hotel industry in Taiwan. Users want immediate and accurate data delivery. This article focuses on converting old conventional networks into passive optical networks based on time division and wavelength division multiplexing. The main focus of this research is to use a hybrid of time-division multiplexing and wavelength-division multiplexing to improve network efficiency and performance. In this paper, we design an 80 Gbps Passive Optical Network (PON), which meets the need of the Next Generation PON Stage 2 (NGPON2) proposed in this paper. The hybrid of the Time and Wavelength division multiplexing (TWDM) is said to be the best solution for the implementation of NGPON2, according to Full-Service Access Network (FSAN). To co-exist with or replace the current PON technologies, many wavelengths of the TWDM can be implemented simultaneously. By utilizing 8 pairs of wavelengths that are multiplexed and then transmitted over optical fiber for 40 Kms and on the receiving side, they are distributed among 256 users, which shows that the solution is reliable for implementation with an acceptable data rate. From the results, it can be concluded that the overall performance, Quality Factor, and bandwidth of the network are increased, and the Bit Error rate is minimized by the integration of this approach. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bit%20error%20rate" title="bit error rate">bit error rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiber%20to%20the%20home" title=" fiber to the home"> fiber to the home</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=passive%20optical%20network" title=" passive optical network"> passive optical network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time%20and%20wavelength%20division%20multiplexing" title=" time and wavelength division multiplexing"> time and wavelength division multiplexing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175639/of-an-80-gbps-passive-optical-network-using-time-and-wavelength-division-multiplexing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175639.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">70</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">477</span> Predictors of Korean Women’s Attitudes toward Family Formation and the Intrahousehold Division of Labor</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Damla%20Tas">Damla Tas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Robert%20Rudolf"> Robert Rudolf</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Fast economic development and women empowerment in Korea have contributed to an unprecedented family and gender crisis, with Korean fertility rates at a global record low. This study explores the predictors and time trends of Korean women’s attitudes toward family formation and the household division of labor by using the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families from 2007 to 2018. Results indicate that education, age, marital status, and motherhood are significantly associated with women’s attitudes toward family formation and gender attitudes toward the intrahousehold division of labor. In addition, more educated women and those aged 26 to 45 are less likely to support traditional marriage and traditional household division of labor statements. Unmarried and divorced women are more likely to support progressive values and roles. Also, retrospective factors such as mothers’ schooling and parents’ relationship are significantly associated with gender role ideology. Our findings also indicate a downward trend in the number of Korean women stating one must have children. The study suggests that Korean families and society need to adjust to women’s changing preferences concerning their societal roles toward less traditional. Hence, a new agreement between men and women is needed on how work can be divided more equally. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marriage" title="marriage">marriage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=family%20formation" title=" family formation"> family formation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intrahousehold%20division%20of%20labor" title=" intrahousehold division of labor"> intrahousehold division of labor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender%20role%20attitudes" title=" gender role attitudes"> gender role attitudes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Korea" title=" Korea"> Korea</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170789/predictors-of-korean-womens-attitudes-toward-family-formation-and-the-intrahousehold-division-of-labor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170789.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">476</span> The Variation of the Inferior Gluteal Artery Origin in United Kingdom Population </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Waseem%20Al%20Talalwah">Waseem Al Talalwah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shorok%20Ali%20Al%20Dorazi"> Shorok Ali Al Dorazi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roger%20Soames"> Roger Soames </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The inferior gluteal artery is a largest branch of the anterior division of internal iliac artery. It neither arose from anterior or posterior division in 1.5% as from gluteopudendal trunk arising from the internal iliac artery bifurcation site. In few cases, the inferior gluteal artery found to be congenital absence in 4.6% which is compensated by the persistent sciatic artery. Therefore, radiologists have to aware of the origin variability of the inferior gluteal artery to alert surgeons. Knowing the origin of the inferior gluteal artery may help the surgeons to avoid iatrogenic sciatic neuropathy or gluteal claudication due to prolonged ligation in pelvic procedures such as removing prostate or of uterine fibroid. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inferior%20gluteal%20artery" title="inferior gluteal artery">inferior gluteal artery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internal%20pudendal" title=" internal pudendal"> internal pudendal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sciatic%20nerve" title=" sciatic nerve"> sciatic nerve</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sciatic%20artery" title=" sciatic artery"> sciatic artery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gluteal%20claudication" title=" gluteal claudication"> gluteal claudication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sciatic%20neuopathy" title=" sciatic neuopathy"> sciatic neuopathy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24857/the-variation-of-the-inferior-gluteal-artery-origin-in-united-kingdom-population" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24857.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">678</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">475</span> National Projects' Impact on the Regional Division</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mosaad%20Hamouda">Mosaad Hamouda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamal%20Khalaf"> Kamal Khalaf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zaker%20Mousa"> Zaker Mousa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> National projects are considered Egypt's future vision in investing its various resources and the best way to bring about a developmental renaissance that constitutes a quantum leap because of its developmental impact on the planning regions, which it achieves in attracting and localizing investments to achieve urban development, and what this has a noticeable impact on dividing those regions in order to achieve a developmental balance or at least reduce the severity of the disparities between them, by measuring the impact of these projects, which appear in the per capita share of the various developmental variables, and also analyzing global and local experiences so that a balanced division of the country’s regions can be reached, and the research finds a set of planning foundations that are compatible with the settlement of these national projects in the future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=national%20projects" title="national projects">national projects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=regional%20development" title=" regional development"> regional development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=division%20of%20regions" title=" division of regions"> division of regions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=development%20disparities" title=" development disparities"> development disparities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174332/national-projects-impact-on-the-regional-division" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174332.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">126</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">474</span> Casteism in United Punjab: A Socio-Cultural Perspective</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahoor%20Ahmad">Zahoor Ahmad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Casteism has played a pivotal role in the social setup and political manipulations in Punjab. This tradition dates back to pre-British history. A number of scholars produced valuable work attributing the caste prejudice and division among the local communities. As a matter of fact, the history of Punjab witnessed a tangible economic, Muslim-non-Muslim, hatred culture towards low-profile castes & professions, and so on. It is obvious that caste ridden system already existed in Punjab before the advent of the British, who tremendously supported the same, and this division evidently affected every aspect of the political as well as social life of the region. The laws of mathematics are based on the study of absolute values. The number 0 or "nothing" is the purely logical (as the opposite to absolute) value as the "nothing" should always assume the space for the something that had existed there; otherwise the "something" would never come to existence. In this work we are going to prove that the number "0" is the abstract (logical) and not an absolute number and it has the absolute value of “∞” (infinity). Therefore, the number "0" might not stand in the row of numbers that symbolically represents the absolute values, as it would be the mathematically incorrect. The symbolical value of number "0" in the row of numbers could be represented with symbol "∞" (infinity). As a result, we have the mathematical row of numbers: epsilon, ...4, 3, 2, 1, ∞. As the conclusions of the theory of number “0” we presented the statements: multiplication and division by fractions of numbers is illegal operation and the mathematical division by number “0” is allowed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=illegal%20operation%20of%20division%20and%20multiplication%20by%20fractions%20of%20number" title="illegal operation of division and multiplication by fractions of number">illegal operation of division and multiplication by fractions of number</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infinity" title=" infinity"> infinity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mathematical%20row%20of%20numbers" title=" mathematical row of numbers"> mathematical row of numbers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=theory%20of%20number%20%E2%80%9C0%E2%80%9D" title=" theory of number “0”"> theory of number “0”</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27872/the-theory-of-number-0" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27872.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">552</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">472</span> Comparative Analysis of Universal Filtered Multi Carrier and Filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Systems for Wireless Communications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raja%20Rajeswari%20K">Raja Rajeswari K</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), a multi Carrier transmission technique that has been used in implementing the majority of wireless applications like Wireless Network Protocol Standards (like IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11n), in telecommunications (like LTE, LTE-Advanced) and also in Digital Audio & Video Broadcast standards. The results show that: The density of human residential areas in China is different, and the density of sustainable human areas is higher, and the west is lower than that in the West. The regional differences of sustainable human settlements are obvious: the north is larger than that the south, the plain regions are larger than those of the hilly regions, and the developed regions are larger than the economically developed regions. The geographical distribution of the sustainable human settlements is measured by the degree of porosity. The degree of porosity correlates with the sustainable human settlement density. Islam as a dominant religion has been the issue of academic discussions in the entire classical literature of Islamic jurisprudence the division of world into Dar al-Islam (abode of Islam), Dar al-Harb (abode of war) has been the main division on the basis of which Islam’s relation with the remaining world were defined and formulated. Now living in a global society the classical division of territories seems to be irrelevant. The new division of the same became necessary in the present situation particularly in view of the pluralistic society and need of power sharing in non-Muslim countries. It is important to note that a number of Muslim scholars of modern period examined this problem and other issues of Muslim minorities from legal point of view. Fiqh al-Aqalliyat is a newly developed discipline of Islamic jurisprudence. The rationale for this development is that there are so many issues of the Muslim minorities particularly in the European countries which are required to be discussed and examined juridically by Muslim jurists and scholars. There was also need for reinterpreting the term Dar al-Harb and relevance of its applicability to the west. The present paper shed a light on these emerging trends in Islamic world. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiqh%20al%20Aqalliyat" title="fiqh al Aqalliyat">fiqh al Aqalliyat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muslim%20minorities" title=" Muslim minorities"> Muslim minorities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Europe" title=" Europe"> Europe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Islam" title=" Islam"> Islam</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36116/fiqh-al-aqalliyat-jurisprude-for-muslim-minorities-an-emerging-discourse-for-western-minorities" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36116.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">367</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">467</span> Precoding-Assisted Frequency Division Multiple Access Transmission Scheme: A Cyclic Prefixes- Available Modulation-Based Filter Bank Multi-Carrier Technique</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ying%20Wang">Ying Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jianhong%20Xiang"> Jianhong Xiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu%20Zhong"> Yu Zhong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation-based Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC) system provides superior spectral properties over Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing. However, seriously affected by imaginary interference, its performances are hampered in many areas. In this paper, we propose a Precoding-Assisted Frequency Division Multiple Access (PA-FDMA) modulation scheme. By spreading FBMC symbols into the frequency domain and transmitting them with a precoding matrix, the impact of imaginary interference can be eliminated. Specifically, we first generate the coding pre-solution matrix with a nonuniform Fast Fourier Transform and pick the best columns by introducing auxiliary factors. Secondly, according to the column indexes, we obtain the precoding matrix for one symbol and impose scaling factors to ensure that the power is approximately constant throughout the transmission time. Finally, we map the precoding matrix of one symbol to multiple symbols and transmit multiple data frames, thus achieving frequency-division multiple access. Additionally, observing the interference between adjacent frames, we mitigate them by adding frequency Cyclic Prefixes (CP) and evaluating them with a signal-to-interference ratio. Note that PA-FDMA can be considered a CP-available FBMC technique because the underlying strategy is FBMC. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better performance compared to Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA), etc. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PA-FDMA" title="PA-FDMA">PA-FDMA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SC-FDMA" title=" SC-FDMA"> SC-FDMA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FBMC" title=" FBMC"> FBMC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-uniform%20fast%20fourier%20transform" title=" non-uniform fast fourier transform"> non-uniform fast fourier transform</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181922/precoding-assisted-frequency-division-multiple-access-transmission-scheme-a-cyclic-prefixes-available-modulation-based-filter-bank-multi-carrier-technique" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181922.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">64</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">466</span> Cephalometric Changes of Patient with Class II Division 1 [Malocclusion] Post Orthodontic Treatment with Growth Stimulation: A Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pricillia%20Priska%20Sianita">Pricillia Priska Sianita</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An aesthetic facial profile is one of the goals in Orthodontics treatment. However, this is not easily achieved, especially in patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion who have the clinical characteristics of convex profile and significant skeletal discrepancy due to mandibular growth deficiency. Malocclusion with skeletal problems require proper treatment timing for growth stimulation, and it must be done in early age and in need of good cooperation from the patient. If this is not done and the patient has passed the growth period, the ideal treatment is orthognathic surgery which is more complicated and more painful. The growth stimulation of skeletal malocclusion requires a careful cephalometric evaluation ranging from diagnosis to determine the parts that require stimulation to post-treatment evaluation to see the success achieved through changes in the measurement of the skeletal parameters shown in the cephalometric analysis. This case report aims to describe skeletal changes cephalometrically that were achieved through orthodontic treatment in growing period. Material and method: Lateral Cephalograms, pre-treatment, and post-treatment of cases of Class II Division 1 malocclusion is selected from a collection of cephalometric radiographic in a private clinic. The Cephalogram is then traced and measured for the skeletal parameters. The result is noted as skeletal condition data of pre-treatment and post-treatment. Furthermore, superimposition is done to see the changes achieved. The results show that growth stimulation through orthodontic treatment can solve the skeletal problem of Class II Division 1 malocclusion and the skeletal changes that occur can be verified through cephalometric analysis. The skeletal changes have an impact on the improvement of patient's facial profile. To sum up, the treatment timing on a skeletal malocclusion is very important to obtain satisfactory results for the improvement of the aesthetic facial profile, and skeletal changes can be verified through cephalometric evaluation of pre- and post-treatment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cephalometric%20evaluation" title="cephalometric evaluation">cephalometric evaluation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=class%20II%20division%201%20malocclusion" title=" class II division 1 malocclusion"> class II division 1 malocclusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=growth%20stimulation" title=" growth stimulation"> growth stimulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skeletal%20changes" title=" skeletal changes"> skeletal changes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skeletal%20problems" title=" skeletal problems"> skeletal problems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/64828/cephalometric-changes-of-patient-with-class-ii-division-1-malocclusion-post-orthodontic-treatment-with-growth-stimulation-a-case-report" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/64828.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">249</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">465</span> RACK1 Integrates Light and Brassinosteroid Signaling to Coordinate Cell Division During Root Soil Penetration</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liang%20%20Jiansheng">Liang Jiansheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhu%20Wei"> Zhu Wei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Light and brassinosteroids are essential external and internal cues for plant survival. Although the coordination of light with phytohormone signals is crucial for plant growth and development, the molecular connection between light and brassinosteroid signaling during root soil penetration remains elusive. Here, we reveal that light-stabilized RACK1 couples a brassinosteroid signaling cascade to drive cell division in root meristems. RACK1 family scaffold proteins positively regulate light-induced the promotion of root elongation during soil penetration. Under the light condition, RACK1A interacts with both phyB and SPA1, then reinforces the phyB-SPA1 association to accumulate its abundance in roots. In response to brassinosteroid signals, RACK1A competes with BKI1 to attenuate the BRI1-BKI1 interaction, thereby leading to activating BRI1 actions in root development. Furthermore, RACK1A binds to BES1 to repress its DNA binding activity toward the target gene CYCD3;1. This ultimately allows to release the inhibition of CYCD3;1 transcription, and promotes cell division during root growth. Our study illustrates a new mechanistic model of how plants engage scaffold proteins in transducing light information to facilitate brassinosteroid signaling for root growth in the soil. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=root%20growth" title="root growth">root growth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cell%20division" title=" cell division"> cell division</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=light%20signaling" title=" light signaling"> light signaling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brassinosteroid%20signaling" title=" brassinosteroid signaling"> brassinosteroid signaling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20penetration" title=" soil penetration"> soil penetration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scaffold%20protein" title=" scaffold protein"> scaffold protein</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RACK1" title=" RACK1"> RACK1</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171045/rack1-integrates-light-and-brassinosteroid-signaling-to-coordinate-cell-division-during-root-soil-penetration" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171045.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">80</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">464</span> Profile of Postgraduate Nursing Students Studying at B. The 5G system needs to provide three different types of services, including enhanced Mobile BroadBand (eMBB), massive machine-type communication (mMTC), and ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC). Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier (UFMC), Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC), and Filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (f-OFDM) are suggested as a well-known candidate waveform for the coming 5G system. Themachine-to-machine (M2M) communications are one of the essential applications in 5G, and it involves exchanging of concise messages with a very short latency. However, in UFMC systems, the subcarriers are grouped into subbands but f-OFDM only one subband covers the entire band. Furthermore, in FBMC, a subband includes only one subcarrier, and the number of subbands is the same as the number of subcarriers. This paper mainly discusses the performance of UFMC with different parameters for the UFMC system. Also, paper shows that UFMC is the best choice outperforming OFDM in any case and FBMC in case of very short packets while performing similarly for long sequences with channel estimation techniques for Interleave Division Multiple Access (IDMA) systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=universal%20filtered%20multi-carrier%20technique" title="universal filtered multi-carrier technique">universal filtered multi-carrier technique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UFMC" title=" UFMC"> UFMC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interleave%20division%20multiple%20access" title=" interleave division multiple access"> interleave division multiple access</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IDMA" title=" IDMA"> IDMA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fifth-generation" title=" fifth-generation"> fifth-generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=subband" title=" subband"> subband</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125096/performance-analysis-of-5g-for-low-latency-transmission-based-on-universal-filtered-multi-carrier-technique-and-interleave-division-multiple-access" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125096.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">134</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">462</span> The Development Learning Module Physics based on Guided Inquiry Approach on Model Cooperative Learning Type STAD (Student Team Achievement Division) in the Main Subject of Temperature and Heat</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fani%20Firmahandari">Fani Firmahandari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The development learning module physics based on guided inquiry approach on model cooperative learning type STAD (Student Team Achievement Division) in the main subject of temperature and heat. As provided in Article 111 of the Constitution, 'the law declared by the Appellate Division (AD) shall be binding on the High Court Division (HCD) and the law declared by either division of the Supreme Court shall be binding on all courts subordinate to it.' This means the judicial discipline requires the HCD to follow the decision of the AD and that it is necessary for the lower tiers of courts to accept the decision of the higher tiers as a binding precedent. Analyzing the application of Article 111 of the Constitution in the criminal justice system as a sentencing guideline, the paper, by examining whether there is any consistency in decision between one HC Bench and another HC Bench, explores whether HCD can per incuriam its previous decision. In doing so, the Death Reference (DR) Cases are contemplated. Furthermore, the paper shall examine whether the Court of Session follows the decision of the HCD while using their discretion to make the choice between death and imprisonment for life under section 302 of PC. The paper argues due to the absence of any specific direction for sentencing and inconsistency in jurisprudence among the HCD; the subordinate courts are in a dilemma. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=death%20reference" title="death reference">death reference</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sentencing%20factor" title=" sentencing factor"> sentencing factor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sentencing%20guideline" title=" sentencing guideline"> sentencing guideline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=criminal%20justice%20system%20and%20constitution" title=" criminal justice system and constitution"> criminal justice system and constitution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100647/the-application-of-article-111-of-the-constitution-of-bangladesh-in-the-criminal-justice-system-as-a-sentencing-guideline" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100647.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">176</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">459</span> Flying Women in Chinese Folklore – Male Narrator’s Rejection of Gender Role Division in Patriarchal Societies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Emma%20H.%20Zhang">Emma H. Tales of flying women in Chinese folklore, exemplified by the story of The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, replicated in countless tales that depicts the courtship between a mortal man and a divine or magical woman suggest otherwise. In these tales, the divine woman exhibits idealized Confucian femininity and fulfills the needs of the male protagonist by providing him with marriage, children, social status, and financial affluence. This paper argues that the flying women in Chinese folklores are not a symbol of defiance but are exemplars that embodyideal Confucian femininity. These tales are instead a reflection of male rejection of gender division in patriarchal societies. The male protagonists, like the male storytellers, reject the necessity to pursue and provide for women in courtship and marriage. Though these tales show their authors’ and readers’ discontent with gender role division, they do not subvert the patriarchal social order but rather offers an escape through fantasy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bird%20goddess" title="bird goddess">bird goddess</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=folklore" title=" folklore"> folklore</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender%20role%20division" title=" gender role division"> gender role division</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=patriarchy" title=" patriarchy"> patriarchy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146123/flying-women-in-chinese-folklore-male-narrators-rejection-of-gender-role-division-in-patriarchal-societies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146123.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">458</span> Design and Performance Improvement of Three-Dimensional Optical Code Division Multiple Access Networks with NAND Detection Technique</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Satyasen%20Panda">Satyasen Panda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Urmila%20Bhanja"> Urmila Bhanja</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we have presented and analyzed three-dimensional (3-D) matrices of wavelength/time/space code for optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) networks with NAND subtraction detection technique. The 3-D codes are constructed by integrating a two-dimensional modified quadratic congruence (MQC) code with one-dimensional modified prime (MP) code. The respective encoders and decoders were designed using fiber Bragg gratings and optical delay lines to minimize the bit error rate (BER). The performance analysis of the 3D-OCDMA system is based on measurement of signal to noise ratio (SNR), BER and eye diagram for a different number of simultaneous users. Also, in the analysis, various types of noises and multiple access interference (MAI) effects were considered. The results obtained with NAND detection technique were compared with those obtained with OR and AND subtraction techniques. The comparison results proved that the NAND detection technique with 3-D MQC\MP code can accommodate more number of simultaneous users for longer distances of fiber with minimum BER as compared to OR and AND subtraction techniques. The received optical power is also measured at various levels of BER to analyze the effect of attenuation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cross%20Correlation%20%28CC%29" title="Cross Correlation (CC)">Cross Correlation (CC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Three%20dimensional%20Optical%20Code%20Division%20Multiple%20Access%20%283-D%20OCDMA%29" title=" Three dimensional Optical Code Division Multiple Access (3-D OCDMA)"> Three dimensional Optical Code Division Multiple Access (3-D OCDMA)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Spectral%20Amplitude%20Coding%20Optical%20Code%20Division%20Multiple%20Access%20%28SAC-OCDMA%29" title=" Spectral Amplitude Coding Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SAC-OCDMA)"> Spectral Amplitude Coding Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SAC-OCDMA)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Multiple%20Access%20Interference%20%28MAI%29" title=" Multiple Access Interference (MAI)"> Multiple Access Interference (MAI)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Phase%20Induced%20Intensity%20Noise%20%28PIIN%29" title=" Phase Induced Intensity Noise (PIIN)"> Phase Induced Intensity Noise (PIIN)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Three%20Dimensional%20Modified%20Quadratic%20Congruence%2FModified%20Prime%20%283-D%20MQC%2FMP%29%20code" title=" Three Dimensional Modified Quadratic Congruence/Modified Prime (3-D MQC/MP) code"> Three Dimensional Modified Quadratic Congruence/Modified Prime (3-D MQC/MP) code</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57485/design-and-performance-improvement-of-three-dimensional-optical-code-division-multiple-access-networks-with-nand-detection-technique" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57485.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">412</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">457</span> Efficient Semi-Systolic Finite Field Multiplier Using Redundant Basis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyun-Ho%20Lee">Hyun-Ho Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kee-Won%20Kim"> Kee-Won Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The arithmetic operations over GF(2m) have been extensively used in error correcting codes and public-key cryptography schemes. Finite field arithmetic includes addition, multiplication, division and inversion operations. Addition is very simple and can be implemented with an extremely simple circuit. The other operations are much more complex. The multiplication is the most important for cryptosystems, such as the elliptic curve cryptosystem, since computing exponentiation, division, and computing multiplicative inverse can be performed by computing multiplication iteratively. In this paper, we present a parallel computation algorithm that operates Montgomery multiplication over finite field using redundant basis. Also, based on the multiplication algorithm, we present an efficient semi-systolic multiplier over finite field. The multiplier has less space and time complexities compared to related multipliers. As compared to the corresponding existing structures, the multiplier saves at least 5% area, 50% time, and 53% area-time (AT) complexity. Accordingly, it is well suited for VLSI implementation and can be easily applied as a basic component for computing complex operations over finite field, such as inversion and division operation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20field" title="finite field">finite field</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Montgomery%20multiplication" title=" Montgomery multiplication"> Montgomery multiplication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systolic%20array" title=" systolic array"> systolic array</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cryptography" title=" cryptography"> cryptography</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55023/efficient-semi-systolic-finite-field-multiplier-using-redundant-basis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55023.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">294</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">456</span> Multi-Channel Charge-Coupled Device Sensors Real-Time Cell Growth Monitor System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Han-Wei%20Shih">Han-Wei Shih</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yao-Nan%20Wang"> Yao-Nan Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ko-Tung%20Chang"> Ko-Tung Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lung-Ming%20Fu"> Lung-Ming Fu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A multi-channel cell growth real-time monitor and evaluation system using charge-coupled device (CCD) sensors with 40X lens integrating a NI LabVIEW image processing program is proposed and demonstrated. The image magnification of multi-channel CCDs cell real-time monitoring system is about 100X~200X which compares with the traditional microscope. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=charge-coupled%20device%20%28CCD%29" title="charge-coupled device (CCD)">charge-coupled device (CCD)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RAW264.7" title=" RAW264.7"> RAW264.7</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=doubling%20time" title=" doubling time"> doubling time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=division%20index" title=" division index"> division index</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67480/multi-channel-charge-coupled-device-sensors-real-time-cell-growth-monitor-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67480.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">358</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">455</span> Using Integrative Assessment in Distance Learning: The Case of Department of Education - Navotas City</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meduranda%20Marco">Meduranda Marco</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper aimed to discuss the Integrative Assessment (IA) initiative of the Schools Division Office - Navotas City. The introduction provided a brief landscape analysis of the current state of education, the context of SDO Navotas, and the rationale for the administration of Integrative Assessment (IA) in schools. The IA methodology, procedure, and implementation activities were also shared. Feedback and reports on IA showed positive results as all schools in the Division were able to operationalize IA and consequently foster academic ease for learners and parents. Challenges met after compliance were also documented and strategies to continuously improve the Integrative Assessment process were proposed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distance%20learning%20assessment" title="distance learning assessment">distance learning assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=integrative%20assessment" title=" integrative assessment"> integrative assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academic%20ease" title=" academic ease"> academic ease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=learning%20outcomes%20evaluation" title=" learning outcomes evaluation"> learning outcomes evaluation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155806/using-integrative-assessment-in-distance-learning-the-case-of-department-of-education-navotas-city" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155806.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">142</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">454</span> Comparison of Donor Motivations in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I vs Division II</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soojin%20Kim">Soojin Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yongjae%20Kim"> Yongjae Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Continuous economic downturn and ongoing budget cuts poses higher education with profound challenges which has a direct impact on the collegiate athletic programs. In response to the ever-changing landscape of the fiscal environment, universities seek to boost revenues, resorting to alternative sources of funding. In particular, athletic programs have become increasingly dependent on financial support from their alumni and boosters, which is how athletic departments attempt to offset budget shortfalls and make capital improvements. Although there currently exists three major divisions within National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the majority of the sport management studies on college sport tend to focus on Division I level. Particularly within the donor motivation literature, a plethora of donor motivation studies exist, but mainly on NCAA Division I athletic programs. Since each athletic department functions differently in a number of different dimensions, while institutional difference can also have a huge impact on athletic donor motivations, the current study attempts to fill this gap that exists in the literature. As such, the purpose of this study was to (I) reexamine the factor structure of the Athletic Donor motivation scale; and (II) identify the prominent athletic donor motives in a NCAA Division II athletic program. For the purpose of this study, a total of 232 actual donors were used for analysis. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was employed to test construct validity, and the reliability of the scale was assessed using Composite Reliability. To identify the prominent motivational factors, the means and standard deviations were examined. Results of this study indicated that Vicarious Achievement, Philanthropy, and Commitment are the three primary motivational factors, while Tangible Benefits, was consistently found as an important motive in prior studies was found low. Such findings highlight the key difference and suggest different salient motivations exist that are specific to the context. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
