Axxu Hoi, a distinguished architect registered under the Board of Architect Malaysia (LAM), holds a robust academic background and extensive professional experience. Graduating from the University of Malaya, he pursued his Part II Master's degree in Architecture at Edinburgh University, UK, followed by advanced studies in Integrated Sustainable Design at NUS, Singapore.</p> <p>In 2021, Ar. Hoi founded Axial Design Architects (ADA) Sdn Bhd, a rapidly growing firm contributing significantly to Malaysia's architectural landscape. Alongside his practice, he shares his expertise as an educator, teaching sustainable modules at Taylor’s University and GreenRe, and he is known for his insightful talks and training programs on green design.</p> <p>Ar. Hoi's influence extends beyond his practice and teaching. DBKL appointed him as a green consultant, leading the drafting of the Low Carbon Design Checklist in 2021. Additionally, he served as an IBS strategic researcher for CIDB CREAM in 2019.</p> <p>Passionate about sustainable architecture, Ar. He conducts a bimonthly PV technology course at Singapore's Building & Construction Authority (BCA), and quarterly at Malaysia's Real Estate & Housing Developers' Association (REHDA). Joseph is currently Managing Director of DME Solutions Sdn Bhd. To date, Joseph has involved in in more than 400 green building projects in different states of Malaysia.</p> <p>Joseph is also well versed in developing, managing and reviewing construction waste management strategies. He gives frequent talks to contractors prior to commencement of construction activities to reduce environmental impacts due to site activities. Since joining Building System and Diagnostics Pte Ltd (BSD) in 2010, his track record has included more than 300 residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional projects, covering various types of CFD applications (such as natural ventilation, ACMV, pollutant dispersion, wind driven rain, smoke ventilation, rainwater run-off etc).</p> <p>He was a co-leader in the tri-partite (National University of Singapore, A-Star, BSD- Eindhoven University of Technology) 1.5-year research project funded by Building Construction Authority of Singapore (or BCA), titled “Development of Computation Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Simulation Methodology and Evaluation Parameters, Thermal Comfort Model & Simulation Methodology for Wind Driven Rain in Natural Ventilated Buildings for Non-Residential Buildings (NRB) BCA Green Mark Criteria”, for GM NRB 2015, as well as a leader in the 1 year research project funded by BCA in developing CFD simulation methodology for GM RB 2016.</p> <p>He also lectures on the topic of Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations at BCA Green Mark Accredited Professional course (in Singapore) and at GreenRE Accredited Professional course (in Malaysia). But he was always deeply involved in performing Detailed Energy Audit for buildings (commercial/industrial) and takes it upon himself to identify potential areas in energy savings personally with his team. So sought after that was his energy efficient projects had spanned numerous countries in Asia. </p> <p>A certified Energy Efficiency Opportunity Assessor (EEOA) and Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM) by IES (Institute of Engineer, Singapore); Green Mark Professional and Certified Energy Auditor with BCA; Mr. Choong believes in sharing his knowledge.
