diverse fruit and vegetables is of great interest to Australian producers.<span class="Apple-converted-space">聽 </span>Cool chain management, especially refrigeration, has been the dominant postharvest technology.<span class="Apple-converted-space">聽</span></p> <p>Through the ATFM and its partners from the NSW Department of Primary Industries and the University of Newcastle, research that models the interaction of ethylene with storage temperature on postharvest life was undertaken.<span class="Apple-converted-space">聽 </span>From these models, the data that has been established has been applied to determining the impact of refrigeration and transport temperatures that can be used.</p> <p>Modelling was undertaken on a range of vegetables (pack choy, broccoli, mint, green beans and cucumber) examining the reduced need for refrigeration quantified for a range of marketing situations including in tropical regions, where refrigeration is either not available or too costly. Studies on fruits (lime, mandarin and stone fruits) were also conducted. Discussions with industry groups for semi-commercial trials is on-going.</p> <p>Through this project, the following objective was met:</p> <p>1.
