And they brought it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And when the chief guest tasted the water that had become wine, he did not know whence it had come; but the helpers knew, who had drawn the water. Then the chief guest called the bridegroom <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And said to him, Every man at first brings the best wine; and when they have drunk, then that which is weak; but you have kept the best wine until now. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>This is the first miracle which Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and he showed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brothers, and his disciples; and they remained there a few days.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And the Jewish passover was nearing; so Jesus went up to Jerusalem. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And he found in the temple those who were buying oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And he made a whip of cord, and drove them all out of the temple, even the sheep and the oxen and the money changers; and he threw out their exchange money, and upset their trays; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And to those who sold doves he said, Take these away from here; do not make my Father’s house a house of trading. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal for your house has given me courage. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>The Jews answered and said to him, What sign do you show us, that you are doing these things? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>Jesus answered and said to them, Tear down this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>The Jews said to him, It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>But he spoke concerning the temple of his body. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>When he rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scriptures and the word which Jesus had said.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>Now when Jesus was in Jerusalem at the passover, during the feast, a great many believed in him, because they saw the miracles which he did. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>But Jesus did not entrust himself to them, because he understood every man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/2-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And he needed no man to testify to him concerning any man; for he knew well what was in man.<p><br /></div></div><div id="botbox"><div class="padbot"><div align="center">Holy Bible From The Ancient Eastern Texts: Aramaic Of The Peshitta by George M.
