In June 1941 he became a staff member of the <a href="/men/bdu.htm">BdU op</a> (5. Asto), before joining the <b>BdU org</b> staff in 1943, where he remained to the end of the war. Otto Salman was, with Admiral Friedeburg, one of only two naval recipients of the <strong>Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross</strong> (<em>Ritterkreuz des Kriegsverdienstkreuzes</em>).</p> <h3>Sources</h3> <p> Busch, R. and R枚ll, H-J.
