style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:仿宋_gb2312">昭关石塔位于市区西津渡古街东端。石塔始建于元代，明、清先后修治，是江南现存唯一喇嘛塔式过街塔。高约5米，用青石分段垒砌合成。由塔座、塔身、塔颈、十三天、塔顶等部分组成。</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:仿宋_gb2312">塔座用四根石方柱上架石枋成梁架，南北叠石为墙，东西贯通。东西石枋横额镌“昭关”两字，边款刻镇江知府、同知、通判、推官等人名，右刻丹徒知县、县丞、典吏等人名，落款刻“万历十年壬午十月吉日重修”。塔身由两个相同的须弥座叠成，呈“亚”字平面，上为覆莲座和扁平形的塔身，上复有一个须弥座及一个仰覆莲座，亦呈“亚”字平面，上为圆锥形十三天，上又一圆仰莲，上置法轮，背刻八宝纹饰，最上是瓶状塔顶。“昭关”二字渊源于古代这里处临江险要之地，为守卫之关口，故名。石塔形似瓶，称“瓶塔”，寓意平安之意。石塔下可通车辆行人，习呼“过街石塔”。穿过昭关石塔就可达西津古渡，是千百年来渡江的南北通道，舟楫往来，渡客众多，为祈求渡江平安，人们常礼拜神灵保佑，据说从石塔下经过，就意味着礼佛进香，能庇护人们在风平浪静里渡过长江天堑。2006年公布为全国重点文物保护单位。</span></span></p></div></div>
