infestations continue to be reported in the Busoga sub-region in Eastern Uganda. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that expose the indigenous people to jigger flea infestations and evaluate the effectiveness of any indigenous materials used in flea control by the affected communities. Flea compositions in residences were described, factors associated with flea infestation and indigenous materials used in flea control were evaluated. Field surveys were conducted in the affected communities after obtaining preliminary information on jigger infestation from the offices of the District Health Inspectors to identify the affected villages and households. Informed consent was then sought from the local authorities and household heads to conduct the study. Focus group discussions were conducted with key district informants, namely, the District Health Inspectors, District Entomologists and representatives from the District Health Office. A GPS coordinate was taken at central point at every household enrolled. Fleas were trapped inside residences using <em>Kilonzo traps. </em>A <em>Kilonzo Trap</em> comprised a shallow pan, about three centimetres deep, filled to the brim with water. The edges of the pan were smeared with Vaseline to prevent fleas from crawling out. Traps were placed in the evening and checked every morning the following day. The trapped fleas were collected in labelled vials filled with 70% aqueous ethanol and taken to the laboratory for identification. Socio-economic and environmental data were collected. The results indicate that the commonest flea trapped in the residences was the cat flea (<em>Ctenocephalides</em> <em>felis</em>) (50%), followed by Jigger flea (<em>Tunga penetrans</em>) (46%) and rat flea (<em>Xenopsylla Cheopis</em>) (4%), respectively. The average size of residences was seven squire metres with a mean of six occupants. The residences were generally untidy; with loose dusty floors and the brick walls were not plastered. The majority of the jigger affected households were headed by peasants (86.7%) and artisans (13.3%). The household heads mainly stopped at primary school level (80%) and few at secondary school level (20%). The jigger affected households were mainly headed by peasants of low socioeconomic status. The affected community members use soil-cow dung-ash mixture to smear floors of residences as the only measure to control fleas. This method was found to be ineffective in controlling the insects. The study recommends that home improvement campaigns be continued in the affected communities to improve sanitation and hygiene in residences as one of the interventions to combat flea infestations. Other cheap, available and effective means should be identified to curb jigger flea infestations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cow%20dung-soil-ash%20mixture" title="cow dung-soil-ash mixture">cow dung-soil-ash mixture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infestations" title=" infestations"> infestations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=jigger%20flea" title=" jigger flea"> jigger flea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tunga%20penetrans" title=" Tunga penetrans"> Tunga penetrans</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84975/jigger-flea-tunga-penetrans-infestations-and-use-of-soil-cow-dung-ash-mixture-as-a-flea-control-method-in-eastern-uganda" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84975.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">83</span> Canadian High School Students' Attitudes and Perspectives Towards People with Disabilities, Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khodi%20Morgan">Khodi Morgan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kasey%20Crowe"> Kasey Crowe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amanda%20Morgan"> Amanda Morgan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Canadian High School Students' Attitudes & Objective: To survey Canadian high school students regarding their attitudes and perspectives towards people with disabilities and explore how age, gender, and personal experience with a disability may impact these views. The certified samples were extracted with the following methods/extractants: CaCl₂, CaCl₂ and DTPA (CAT), double lactate (DL), ammonium lactate (AL), calcium acetate lactate (CAL), Olsen, Mehlich 3, Bray and Kurtz I, and Morgan, which are commonly used in soil testing laboratories. The phosphorus in soil extracts was measured colorimetrically using Spectroquant Pharo 100 spectrometer. The methods used in the study were evaluated according to the recovery of available phosphorus, facility of application and rapidity of performance. The relationships between methods are examined statistically. A good agreement of the results from different soil test was established for all certified samples. In general, the P values extracted by the nine extraction methods significantly correlated with each other. When grouping the soils according to pH, organic carbon content and clay content, weaker extraction methods showed analogous trends; also among the stronger extraction methods, common tendencies were found. Other factors influencing the extraction force of the different methods include soil: solution ratio, as well as the duration and power of shaking the samples. The mean extractable P in certified samples was found to be in the order of CaCl₂ < CAT < Morgan < Bray and Kurtz I < Olsen < CAL < DL < Mehlich 3 < AL. Although the nine methods extracted different amounts of P from the certified samples, values of P extracted by the different methods were strongly correlated among themselves. Molecular descriptors and Molecular properties are traditionally used for the prediction of water solubility. There are various key descriptors that are used for this purpose, namely Drogan Descriptors, Morgan Descriptors, Maccs keys, etc., and each has different prediction capabilities with differentiating successes between different data sets. Another source for the prediction of solubility is structural features; they are commonly used for the prediction of solubility. However, there are little to no studies that combine three or more properties or descriptors for prediction to produce a more powerful prediction model. Unlike available models, we used a combination of those features in a random forest machine learning model for improved solubility prediction to better predict and, therefore, contribute to drug discovery systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solubility" title="solubility">solubility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=random%20forest" title=" random forest"> random forest</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=molecular%20descriptors" title=" molecular descriptors"> molecular descriptors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maccs%20keys" title=" maccs keys"> maccs keys</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186736/using-combination-of-sets-of-features-of-molecules-for-aqueous-solubility-prediction-a-random-forest-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186736.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">46</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">77</span> Scoping Review of the Barriers and Facilitators to Enabling Scholarly Activity within Canadian Schools of Nursing</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christa%20Siminiuk">Christa Siminiuk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morgan%20Yates"> Morgan Yates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paramita%20Banerjee"> Paramita Banerjee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alison%20%20Curtis"> Alison Curtis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lysbeth%20Cuanda"> Lysbeth Cuanda</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This review looked at current evidence regarding barriers and facilitators to nursing scholarship within the content of Canadian Schools of Nursing. Nursing scholarship mainly referred to research, though other activities as described by Boyer’s Model were also discussed. This scoping review was done to assist the Langara School of Nursing in developing an evidenced-based plan to enhance scholarly work among its faculty members. The scoping review identified 10 articles which detailed barriers and facilitators in both Canadian and international contexts. Barriers and facilitators in these articles were extracted and they were also critically appraised. The identified barriers and facilitators fell into three main areas; personal attributes, facility factors and system challenges. The three area will be discussed further in the presentation as well as strategies identified to overcome these barriers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=barriers" title="barriers">barriers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=facilitators" title=" facilitators"> facilitators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nursing%20education" title=" nursing education"> nursing education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scholarship" title=" scholarship"> scholarship</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86077/scoping-review-of-the-barriers-and-facilitators-to-enabling-scholarly-activity-within-canadian-schools-of-nursing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86077.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">228</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">76</span> Interbank Networks and the Benefits of Using Multilayer Structures </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Danielle%20Sandler%20dos%20Passos">Danielle Sandler dos Passos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Helder%20Coelho"> Helder Coelho</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fl%C3%A1via%20Mori%20Sarti"> Flávia Mori Sarti</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Complexity science seeks the understanding of systems adopting diverse theories from various areas. Network analysis has been gaining space and credibility, namely with the biological, social and economic systems. Significant part of the literature focuses only monolayer representations of connections among agents considering one level of their relationships, and excludes other levels of interactions, leading to simplistic results in network analysis. Therefore, this work aims to demonstrate the advantages of the use of multilayer networks for the representation and analysis of networks. For this, we analyzed an interbank network, composed of 42 banks, comparing the centrality measures of the agents (degree and PageRank) resulting from each method (monolayer <em>x</em> multilayer). This proved to be the most reliable and efficient the multilayer analysis for the study of the current networks and highlighted JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank as the most important banks of the analyzed network. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complexity" title="complexity">complexity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interbank%20networks" title=" interbank networks"> interbank networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multilayer%20networks" title=" multilayer networks"> multilayer networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=network%20analysis" title=" network analysis"> network analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92811/interbank-networks-and-the-benefits-of-using-multilayer-structures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92811.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">282</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">75</span> Prediction of Childbearing Orientations According to Couples' Sexual Review Component</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Razieh%20Rezaeekalantari">Razieh Rezaeekalantari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prediction of parenting orientations in terms of the components of couples' sexual review. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational research method. The population consisted of 500 couples referring to Sari Health Center. Two hundred and fifteen (215) people were selected randomly by using Krejcie-Morgan-sample-size-table. For data collection, the childbearing orientations scale and the Multidimensional Sexual Self-Concept Questionnaire were used. Result: For data analysis, the mean and standard deviation were used and to analyze the research hypothesis regression correlation and inferential statistics were used. Conclusion: The findings indicate that there is not a significant relationship between the tendency to childbearing and the predictive value of sexual review (r = 0.84) with significant level (sig = 219.19) (P < 0.05). So, with 95% confidence, we conclude that there is not a meaningful relationship between sexual orientation and tendency to child-rearing. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=couples%20referring" title="couples referring">couples referring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20center" title=" health center"> health center</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sexual%20review%20component" title=" sexual review component"> sexual review component</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parenting%20orientations" title=" parenting orientations"> parenting orientations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82443/prediction-of-childbearing-orientations-according-to-couples-sexual-review-component" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82443.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">219</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">74</span> The Relationship between Self-Censorship and Satisfaction of Iran Newspaper's Readers, Case Study: Iran Newspaper</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elham%20Taghizade%20Sigarodi">Elham Taghizade Sigarodi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ani%20Mirzakhanian"> Ani Mirzakhanian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Journalism atmosphere in present era is highly competitive so that what matters the most is “the speed of news broadcasting”. The first newspaper that lets out the news is therefore of higher validity. The value of the news is in fact in its truthfulness. Expressing the facts and reality is an accepted norm in professional media arena and it is as well considered the acceptable and trustworthy language for journalism. However, different conditions generate self-censorship. The present study seeks to explore the relationship between self-censorship and satisfaction of Iran newspaper’s readers. Thus, the statistical population including journalists of Iran newspaper for Tehran’s readers was estimated 384 persons based on Morgan table. Through cluster sampling, 50 journalists were selected so that totally the sample size was 434 persons and questionnaire was applied for data analysis and based on Alpha Chronbache, it was supported. Through Pierson correlation, the main and all subsidiary hypotheses were supported except the forth one. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=newspaper" title="newspaper">newspaper</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=satisfaction%20of%20audiences" title=" satisfaction of audiences"> satisfaction of audiences</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-censorship" title=" self-censorship"> self-censorship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=journalists" title=" journalists"> journalists</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60430/the-relationship-between-self-censorship-and-satisfaction-of-iran-newspapers-readers-case-study-iran-newspaper" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60430.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">259</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">73</span> Modelling of Heating and Evaporation of Biodiesel Fuel Droplets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mansour%20Al%20Qubeissi">Mansour Al Qubeissi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sergei%20S.%20Sazhin"> Sergei S. This model takes into account the effects of temperature gradient, recirculation and species diffusion inside droplets. A distinctive feature of the model used in the analysis is that it is based on the analytical solutions to the temperature and species diffusion equations inside the droplets. Nineteen types of biodiesel fuels are considered. It is shown that a simplistic model, based on the approximation of biodiesel fuel by a single component or ignoring the diffusion of components of biodiesel fuel, leads to noticeable errors in predicted droplet evaporation time and time evolution of droplet surface temperature and radius. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%2Fmass%20transfer" title="heat/mass transfer">heat/mass transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biodiesel" title=" biodiesel"> biodiesel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-component%20fuel" title=" multi-component fuel"> multi-component fuel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=droplet" title=" droplet"> droplet</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19140/modelling-of-heating-and-evaporation-of-biodiesel-fuel-droplets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19140.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">567</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">72</span> Calendar Anomalies in Islamic Frontier Markets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aslam%20Faheem">Aslam Faheem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hunjra%20Ahmed%20Imran"> Hunjra Ahmed Imran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tayachi%20Tahar"> Tayachi Tahar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Verhoeven%20Peter"> Verhoeven Peter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tariq%20Yasir"> Tariq Yasir</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We investigate the evidence of three risk-adjusted calendar anomalies in eight frontier markets. Building on the political ecology and the environmental justice theoretical framework, this research examines the impacts and risks of tar sands extraction, production, and transportation on climate change, public health, the environment, and indigenous people´s rights over their lands. This study is relevant to the environmental justice and political ecology literature because it discusses the unequal distribution of environmental costs and economic benefits of tar sands development; and focuses on the competing interests, needs, values, and claims of the actors involved in the conflict. Furthermore, it will shed light on the context, conditions, and processes that lead to the organization and mobilization of a grassroots movement- comprised of indigenous communities, citizens, scientists, and non-governmental organizations- that draw significant media attention by opposing the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. Similarly, the research will explain the differences and dynamics within the grassroots movement. This research seeks to address the global context of the conflict by studying the links between the decline of conventional oil production, the rise of unconventional fossil fuels (e.g. tar sands), climate change, and the struggles of low-income, ethnic, and racial minorities over the territorial expansion of extractive industries. Data will be collected from legislative documents, policy and technical reports, scientific journals, newspapers articles, participant observation, and semi-structured interviews with representatives and members of the grassroots organizations, indigenous communities, and Burnaby citizens that oppose the Trans Mountain pipeline. These interviews will focus on their perceptions of the risks of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion; the roots of the anti-tar sands movement; the differences and dynamics within the movement; and the strategies to defend the livelihoods of local communities and the environment against tar sands development. This research will contribute to the understanding of the underlying causes of the environmental conflict between the Canadian government, Kinder Morgan, and grassroots organizations over tar sands extraction, production, and transportation in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Moreover, this work will elucidate the transformations of society-nature relationships brought by tar sands development. Research findings will provide scientific information about how the resistance movement in British Columbia can challenge the dominant narrative on tar sands, exert greater influence in environmental politics, and efficiently defend Indigenous people´s rights to lands. Furthermore, this research will shed light into how grassroots movements can contribute towards the building of more inclusive and sustainable societies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20conflict" title="environmental conflict">environmental conflict</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20justice" title=" environmental justice"> environmental justice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extractive%20industry" title=" extractive industry"> extractive industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indigenous%20communities" title=" indigenous communities"> indigenous communities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=political%20ecology" title=" political ecology"> political ecology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tar%20sands" title=" tar sands"> tar sands</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69605/the-environmental-conflict-over-the-trans-mountain-pipeline-expansion-in-burnaby-british-columbia-canada" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69605.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">278</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">70</span> Dynamical Models for Enviromental Effect Depuration for Structural Health Monitoring of Bridges</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Francesco%20Morgan%20Bono">Francesco Morgan Bono</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Simone%20Cinquemani"> Simone Cinquemani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research aims to enhance bridge monitoring by employing innovative techniques that incorporate exogenous factors into the modeling of sensor signals, thereby improving long-term predictability beyond traditional static methods. Using real datasets from two different bridges equipped with Linear Variable Displacement Transducer (LVDT) sensors, the study investigates the fundamental principles governing sensor behavior for more precise long-term forecasts. Additionally, the research evaluates performance on noisy and synthetically damaged data, proposing a residual-based alarm system to detect anomalies in the bridge. In summary, this novel approach combines advanced modeling, exogenous factors, and anomaly detection to extend prediction horizons and improve preemptive damage recognition, significantly advancing structural health monitoring practices. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20health%20monitoring" title="structural health monitoring">structural health monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20models" title=" dynamic models"> dynamic models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sindy" title=" sindy"> sindy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=railway%20bridges" title=" railway bridges"> railway bridges</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186526/dynamical-models-for-enviromental-effect-depuration-for-structural-health-monitoring-of-bridges" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186526.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">38</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">69</span> Non-AIDS Related Multiple Brain and Orbital Lymphoma Mimicking Meningioma: A Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eghosa%20Morgan">Eghosa Morgan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bourtarbouch%20Mahjouba"> Bourtarbouch Mahjouba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heida%20El%20Ouahabi"> Heida El Ouahabi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Poluyi%20Edward"> Poluyi Edward</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diawarra%20Seylan"> Diawarra Seylan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Non-AIDS lymphoma, a type of primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma is an uncommon aggressive infiltrative malignant tumour involving several sites in the central nervous system, such as the periventricular region and leptomeninges. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) done revealed isointense masses with brilliant homogenous enhancement on contrast administration resembling a meningioma, with a dura tail – like attachment as seen in meningioma. He had surgery for the right orbital tumour and histopathological diagnosis confirmed our suspicion of lymphoma (B type). Despite the different interventions currently available for this tumor, the average survival is still only a few months. (12-15). The aim is to create a more favorable prognosis and have a reduction in the resistance to treatment currently being experienced, even with surgical interventions and chemotherapy. From the available literature, there is a relationship between the presence of HOX genes (Homeobox genes) and glioblastoma, which could be attributable to the increasing treatment resistance. Hence silencing these genes can be a key to improving survival rates of glioblastoma. A series of studies have highlighted the role that HOX genes play in glioblastoma prognosis. Promotion of human glioblastoma initiation, aggressiveness, and resistance to Temozolomide has been associated with HOXA9. The role of HOX gene expression in cancer stem cells should be studied as it could provide a means of designing CSC-targeted therapies, as CSCs play a part in the initiation and progression of solid tumors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GBM-%20%20glioblastoma" title="GBM- glioblastoma">GBM- glioblastoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HOXA%20gene-%20homeobox%20genes%20cluster" title=" HOXA gene- homeobox genes cluster"> HOXA gene- homeobox genes cluster</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=signaling%20pathways" title=" signaling pathways"> signaling pathways</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temozolomide" title=" temozolomide"> temozolomide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153813/how-oxa-gene-expression-is-implicated-in-the-treatment-resistance-and-poor-prognosis-in-glioblastoma" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153813.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">105</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">67</span> Threshold Concepts in TESOL: A Thematic Analysis of Disciplinary Guiding Principles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neil%20Morgan">Neil Morgan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The notion of Threshold Concepts has offered a fertile new perspective on the transformative effects of mastery of particular concepts on student understanding of subject matter and their developing identities as inductees into disciplinary discourse communities. Only by successfully traversing key knowledge thresholds, it is claimed, can neophytes gain access to the more sophisticated understandings of subject matter possessed by mature members of a discipline. This paper uses thematic analysis of disciplinary guiding principles to identify nine candidate Threshold Concepts that appear to underpin effective TESOL practice. The relationship between these candidate TESOL Threshold Concepts, TESOL principles, and TESOL instructional techniques appears to be amenable to a schematic representation based on superordinate categories of TESOL practitioner concern and, as such, offers an alternative to the view of Threshold Concepts as a privileged subset of disciplinary core concepts. The paper concludes by exploring the potential of a Threshold Concepts framework to productively inform TESOL initial teacher education (ITE) and in-service education and training (INSET). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TESOL" title="TESOL">TESOL</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=threshold%20concepts" title=" threshold concepts"> threshold concepts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TESOL%20principles" title=" TESOL principles"> TESOL principles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TESOL%20ITE%2FINSET" title=" TESOL ITE/INSET"> TESOL ITE/INSET</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=community%20of%20practice" title=" community of practice"> community of practice</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127795/threshold-concepts-in-tesol-a-thematic-analysis-of-disciplinary-guiding-principles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127795.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">141</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">66</span> The Influence of E-Learning on Teachers and Students Educational Interactions in Tehran City</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hadi%20Manjiri">Hadi Manjiri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahdyeh%20Bakhshi"> Mahdyeh Bakhshi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Jafari"> Ali Jafari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maryam%20Salati"> Maryam Salati</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study investigates the influence of e-learning on teacher-student instructional interactions through the mediating role of computer literacy among elementary school teachers in Tehran. The research method is a survey that was conducted among elementary school students in Tehran. A sample size of 338 was determined based on Morgan's table. A stratified random sampling method was used to select 228 women and 110 men for the study. Bagherpour et al.'s computer literacy questionnaire, Elahi et al.'s e-learning questionnaire, and Lourdusamy and Khine's questionnaire on teacher-student instructional interactions were used to measure the variables. The data were analyzed using SPSS and LISREL software. It was found that e-learning affects teacher-student instructional interactions, mediated by teachers' computer literacy. In addition, the results suggest that e-learning predicts a 0.66 change in teacher-student instructional interactions, while computer literacy predicts a 0.56 change in instructional interactions between teachers and students. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-learning" title="e-learning">e-learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=instructional%20interactions" title=" instructional interactions"> instructional interactions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computer%20literacy" title=" computer literacy"> computer literacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=students" title=" students"> students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174149/the-influence-of-e-learning-on-teachers-and-students-educational-interactions-in-tehran-city" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174149.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">119</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">65</span> Relationship between Entrepreneurial Orientation and Small and Medium Enterprises Growth in Bauchi Metropolis, Nigeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammed%20Auwal%20Umar">Muhammed Auwal Umar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Saleh"> M. The study is quantitative in nature using a cross-sectional survey. The population of the study was 364 SMEs. Using simple random sampling, 183 questionnaires were personally distributed, out of which 165 (90%) were found valid for the analysis. Kregcie and Morgan (1970) table was used to determine the sample size. Pearson correlation was used to test the hypotheses. The analysis was conducted with the aid of IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. The results established that innovativeness, risk-taking propensity, and proactiveness have significant positive relationship with SME's growth. It is therefore recommended that SMEs’ owners/managers should change their attitude by changing their product and mode of operation in line with customer demand, being proactive ahead of other competitors in trying a better way of doing things, and taking calculated risks in anticipation of high return in order for their businesses to survive and grow. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SMEs%20growth" title="SMEs growth">SMEs growth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovativeness" title=" innovativeness"> innovativeness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk-taking%20propensity" title=" risk-taking propensity"> risk-taking propensity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=proactiveness" title=" proactiveness"> proactiveness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116431/relationship-between-entrepreneurial-orientation-and-small-and-medium-enterprises-growth-in-bauchi-metropolis-nigeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116431.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">64</span> Investigating the Effect of Mobile Technologies Dimensions upon Creativity of Kermanshah Polymer Petrochemical Company’s Employees</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghafor%20Ahmadi">Ghafor Ahmadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nader%20Bohloli%20Zynab"> Nader Bohloli Zynab</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Rapid scientific changes are the driving force of upheaval. As new technologies arrive, human’s life changes and information becomes one of the productive sources besides other factors. Currently, forecasting based on either machine learning or statistical learning is usually built by experts, and it requires significant manual effort, from model construction, feature engineering, and hyper-parameter tuning to the construction of the time series model. Automation is not possible since there are too many human interventions. To overcome these limitations, this article proposed to use recurrent neural networks (RNN) through the memory state of RNN to perform long-term time series prediction. We have shown that this proposed approach is better than the traditional Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA). In addition, we also found it is better than other network systems, including Fully Connected Neural Networks (FNN), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), and Nonpooling Convolutional Neural Networks (NPCNN). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automated%20machines%20learning" title="automated machines learning">automated machines learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autoregressive%20integrated%20moving%20average" title=" autoregressive integrated moving average"> autoregressive integrated moving average</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neural%20networks" title=" neural networks"> neural networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time%20series%20analysis" title=" time series analysis"> time series analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173817/automated-machine-learning-algorithm-using-recurrent-neural-network-to-perform-long-term-time-series-forecasting" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173817.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">105</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">62</span> Thermomechanical Behaviour of Various Pressurized Installations Subjected to Thermal Load Due to the Combustion of Metal Particles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khaled%20Ayfi">Khaled Ayfi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morgan%20Dal"> Morgan Dal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Frederic%20Coste"> Frederic Coste</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nicolas%20Gallienne"> Nicolas Gallienne</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martina%20Ridlova"> Martina Ridlova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Philippe%20Lorong"> Philippe Lorong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the gas industry, contamination of equipment by metal particles is one of the feared phenomena. Indeed, particles inside equipment can be driven by the gas flow and accumulate in places where the velocity is low. As they constitute a potential ignition hazard, particular attention is paid to the presence of particles in the oxygen industry. Indeed, the heat release from ignited particles may damage the equipment and even result in a loss of integrity. The objective of this work is to support the development of new design criteria. Studying the thermomechanical behavior of this equipment, thanks to numerical simulations, allows us to test the influence of various operating parameters (oxygen pressure, wall thickness, initial operating temperature, nature of the metal, etc.). Therefore, in this study, we propose a numerical model that describes the thermomechanical behavior of various pressurized installations heated locally by the combustion of small particles. This model takes into account the geometric and material nonlinearity and has been validated by the comparison of simulation results with experimental measurements obtained by a new device developed in this work. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ignition" title="ignition">ignition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oxygen" title=" oxygen"> oxygen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20simulation" title=" numerical simulation"> numerical simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermomechanical%20behaviour" title=" thermomechanical behaviour"> thermomechanical behaviour</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135549/thermomechanical-behaviour-of-various-pressurized-installations-subjected-to-thermal-load-due-to-the-combustion-of-metal-particles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135549.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">154</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">61</span> Moral Obligation as a Governor to Skeptical Theism's Relativism</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peter%20J.%20Morgan">Peter J. The use of CORNEA results in skepticism regarding the ability of human ken to know divine levels of knowledge in instances of intense evil. However, William Rowe presents a critique of Skeptical Theism that questions its ability to argue successfully for theism. Rowe contends that siding with Skeptical Theism is akin to boarding a trolley car that does not stop. Contra Wykstra, Rowe observes that, for all that can be known, there could be greater amounts of evils than goods, and the goods that are seen may not be the best possible goods. This amounts to a mortally challenging critique of Skeptical Theism. However, there is a brake on Rowe’s Trolley. This paper makes the argument that the ubiquitous presence of Moral Obligation (MO) serves as a braking system for Rowe’s Trolley. When the rider begins to feel lost in an epistemic stalemate of good and evil it is MO that turns the tide: MO serves as evidence towards the good on a basic human level, and it is a reminder that God’s character will result in actions towards the good. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CORNEA" title="CORNEA">CORNEA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moral%20obligation" title=" moral obligation"> moral obligation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=problem%20of%20evil" title=" problem of evil"> problem of evil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skeptical%20theism" title=" skeptical theism"> skeptical theism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81110/moral-obligation-as-a-governor-to-skeptical-theisms-relativism" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81110.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">204</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">60</span> Improving Decision Support for Organ Transplant</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ian%20McCulloh">Ian McCulloh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrew%20Placona"> Andrew Placona</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Darren%20Stewart"> Darren Stewart</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Gause"> Daniel Gause</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kevin%20Kiernan"> Kevin Kiernan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morgan%20Stuart"> Morgan Stuart</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christopher%20Zinner"> Christopher Zinner</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Cartwright"> Laura Cartwright</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An estimated 22-25% of viable deceased donor kidneys are discarded every year in the US, while waitlisted candidates are dying every day. As many as 85% of transplanted organs are refused at least once for a patient that scored higher on the match list. There are hundreds of clinical variables involved in making a clinical transplant decision and there is rarely an ideal match. Decision makers exhibit an optimism bias where they may refuse an organ offer assuming a better match is imminent. We propose a semi-parametric Cox proportional hazard model, augmented by an accelerated failure time model based on patient specific suitable organ supply and demand to estimate a time-to-next-offer. Performance is assessed with Cox-Snell residuals and decision curve analysis, demonstrating improved decision support for up to a 5-year outlook. Providing clinical decision makers with quantitative evidence of likely patient outcomes (e.g., time to next offer and the mortality associated with waiting) may improve decisions and reduce optimism bias, thus reducing discarded organs and matching more patients on the waitlist. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decision%20science" title="decision science">decision science</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=KDPI" title=" KDPI"> KDPI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimism%20bias" title=" optimism bias"> optimism bias</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organ%20transplant" title=" organ transplant"> organ transplant</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/160221/improving-decision-support-for-organ-transplant" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/160221.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">105</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">59</span> Analyzing Extended Reality Technologies for Human Space Exploration</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morgan%20Kuligowski">Morgan Kuligowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marientina%20Gotsis"> Marientina Gotsis</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Extended reality (XR) technologies share an intertwined history with spaceflight and innovation. A review of virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality technologies implemented aboard the International Space Station revealed a total of 16 flown investigations. A secondary set of ground-tested XR human spaceflight applications were systematically retrieved from literature sources. The two sets of XR technologies, those flown and those existing in the literature were analyzed to characterize application domains and device types. Comparisons between these groups revealed untapped application areas for XR to support crew psychological health, in-flight training, and extravehicular operations on future flights. To fill these roles, integrating XR technologies with advancements in biometric sensors and machine learning tools is expected to transform crew capabilities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=augmented%20reality" title="augmented reality">augmented reality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extended%20reality" title=" extended reality"> extended reality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=international%20space%20station" title=" international space station"> international space station</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed%20reality" title=" mixed reality"> mixed reality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=virtual%20reality" title=" virtual reality"> virtual reality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138128/analyzing-extended-reality-technologies-for-human-space-exploration" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138128.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">216</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">58</span> Fundamental Problems in the Operation of the Automotive Parts Industry Small and Medium Businesses in the Greater Bangkok and Perimeter</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thepnarintra%20Praphanphat">Thepnarintra Praphanphat</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purposes of this study were to: 1) investigate operation conditions of SME automotive part industry in Bangkok and vicinity and 2) to compare operation problem levels of SME automotive part industry in Bangkok and vicinity according to the sizes of the enterprises. Typically, visibility is calculated by estimating the optical absorption and scattering of both gases and aerosols. A major component of the aerosols’ climatic effect is due to their scattering and absorption of solar radiation, which are governed by their optical and physical properties. However, the accurate assessment of this effect on global warming, climate change, and air quality is made difficult due to uncertainties in the calculation of single scattering albedo (SSA). Experimental complications arise in the determination of the single scattering albedo of an aerosol particle since it requires the simultaneous measurement of both scattering and extinction. In fact, aerosol optical absorption, in particular, is a difficult measurement to perform, and it’s often associated with large uncertainties when using filter methods or difference methods. In this presentation, we demonstrate the use of a new open-path Optical Extinction Analyzer (OEA) in conjunction with a nephelometer and two particle sizers, emphasizing the benefits that co-employment of the OEA offers to derive the complex refractive index of aerosols and their single scattering albedo parameter. Various use cases, data reproducibility, and instrument calibration will also be presented to highlight the value proposition of this novel Open-Path OEA. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerosols" title="aerosols">aerosols</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extinction" title=" extinction"> extinction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=visibility" title=" visibility"> visibility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=albedo" title=" albedo"> albedo</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161634/visibility-measurements-using-a-novel-open-path-optical-extinction-analyzer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161634.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">90</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">56</span> The Role of Sport-Centered Social Capitals on Student's Tendency in Sports Activities</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esmaeil%20Zabihi">Esmaeil Zabihi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Hossein%20Alavi"> Seyed Hossein Alavi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purpose of this study is the review and prioritizes of sport-centered social capital on Islamic Azad university of Garmsar student’s tendency in sports activities, especially public sports based on Bourdieu viewpoint. 365 students at of 6254 students (3140 male and 3114 female) of Islamic Azad university of Garmsar branch were selected randomly, Morgan also used. 272 person answer questionnaire (with the help of specific questionnaires moeinaldini, 1391) it has 30 questions. Researchers have confirmed the validity of this questionnaire justifiability. Reliability was achieved through Cronbach's alpha 84%. The analysis of data done by, SPSS software and independent t-tests, friedman, u Mann Whitney, Kruskal Wallis test. friedman test showed below things : environmental dimension (MR=4.71) social and economic factors (MR=3.57) and family (MR=3.47). These factors have significant role on sports activities of students (P≤1.0). Also, comparison of these dimensions showed that the men believe to university (t-4.30) in increasing students participation. These results show that environment like (such as) governmental organization, going to the stadium and life environment is the most important factor which can effect on sport and body activities of the students. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cultural%20capital" title="cultural capital">cultural capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20capital" title=" social capital"> social capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bourdieu%20viewpoint" title=" Bourdieu viewpoint"> Bourdieu viewpoint</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sport%20for%20all" title=" sport for all"> sport for all</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19841/the-role-of-sport-centered-social-capitals-on-students-tendency-in-sports-activities" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19841.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">460</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">55</span> Study of Components and Effective Factors on Organizational Commitment of Khoramabad Branchs Islamic Azad University’s Faculty Members</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehry%20Daraei">Mehry Daraei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The goal of this study was to survey the components and affective factors on organizational commitment of Islamic Azad university Khoramabad Baranch’s faculty members.
