Engaged4YOUth - Committee on Culture and Education</title> <link>https://www.europarl.europa.eu/committees/en/product/product-details/20241213CDT13904</link> <description><div style="float:left; margin:0px 5px 0px 0px;"><img src="https://www.europarl.europa.eu/resources/library/images/20241216PHT25988/20241216PHT25988-ms.jpg" width="180" alt="Youngsters at the European Parliament" title="Youth Engaged with EU © European Parliament"/></div><div>On 3 December 2024, the Coordinators of the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) endorsed the renewal of the CULT Committee’s #Engaged4YOUth strategy and proposed actions for 2024-2029, as indicated below. </div><br /><div><p> </p><p><strong>2024-2029 <em>#Engaged4YOUth</em> Strategy Renewal and actions</strong></p> <p>The CULT Committee will:</p> <p>Develop a strong cooperation with other EP committees (e.g. raising awareness on youth issues and promoting youth mainstreaming also referencing to the newly introduced 'Youth Checks').</p> <p>Follow-up on the Legacy of the European Year of Youth (EYY) 2022 by:</p> <p></p><ul class="list_inbox"><li> supporting youth mainstreaming and active citizenship, in order to address youth challenges linked to the lack of participation in democratic processes and preventing youth polarisation and violence; </li><li> developing ways to take into account youth concerns in policy development and decision-making processes (including on proposals that have been marked as particularly relevant for young people); </li><li> monitoring the achievements of the EYY priorities and actions linked to youth mental and physical health and well-being, including the impact of social media on young people, cyberbullying, inclusiveness at schools and the fight of poverty and economic and social inequalities, including cost of living.</li></ul><p></p> <p>Follow-up on the interim evaluation of the EU Youth Strategy and enhance the EP's involvement on youth issues at EU level.</p> <p>Continue coordinating with other EU institutions to mainstream the youth perspective across policy fields and promote an active participation of youth in building the future of Europe.</p> <p>With an aim to put in place a youth mainstreaming exercise in the European Parliament, continue the close cooperation with DG COMM and in particular its "Youth Outreach" unit, in order to invite young people at relevant Committee meetings, in CULT and/or other committees. This is especially for the files which will be deemed 'youth relevant' in the Commission's annual work programmes (AWP), starting from the AWP 2025.</p> <p>Ensure a strong presence and active involvement of CULT Committee Members at the European Youth Events (EYE), starting with the upcoming EYE2025 (Strasbourg, 13-14 June 2025).
