-9.5℃便捷的交通和通讯。公路、铁路、海运、空运和底下管道运输，构成了立体运输网络。北京至哈尔滨公路、铁路横贯境内，地方公路、铁路四通八达，境内还有驰名中外的葫芦岛港和绥中港，空运潜力大,西距山海关机场20公里，东距锦州机场50公里，境内兴城机场具有起降大型客机条件,可望建成军民合用机场，地下管道纵横交错，大庆至秦皇岛,盘锦至葫芦岛两条运送原油管线,给葫芦岛这个老石化基地更注入了活力。通讯设施已达国际先进水平，可直接与海内外传讯各种信息。<BR>    富饶的矿藏和物产。葫芦岛有四大资源值得称道：地下矿藏资源，储有钼、铅、锌、石油、天然气等30多个品种近1000处地下矿藏,且储量丰富；山区林果资源，目前拥有果园总面积195万亩，各种果树5800 万株，其中包括有称之为“亚洲第一大果园”的前所果树农场,现已成为我国北方重要果品出口基地之一；沿海滩涂资源，拥有237公里海岸线，滩涂13.4万亩，盛产鱼、虾、贝类等各种海产品，海底油气资源，石油、天然气的储量十分可观,渤海石油勘探局9个钻井平台有5个在这一带作业,已依托开采出来的天然气建成一个现代化大型化肥厂─锦天化，1994年，又在绥中海域发现一处全国最大的海上油气田。</FONT> </P> 3家，炼油化工总厂、葫芦岛锌厂和锦西化工总厂,已形成以石油化工为主体，以冶金、建材、机械、造船和发电为重点的门类齐全.轻重并举的工业格局。工业总产值114亿元，比去年增长12.3%,核算其工业企业实现增加值48.3亿元，比上年增长13.6%，其中重工业45.0亿元，轻工业33亿元,分别比上年增长13.0%,国有及国有控股企业39.1亿元；非国有企业 9.2亿元,分别比年增长11.4%和26.6%；全市乡及乡以上工业销售总值 173.4亿元，比上年增长9。8%，产销率达94.3%；新产品产值11.2亿元, 新产品产值率4.2%,产品质量也有不断进步提高。提到工业,你一定会想到农业,农业也不示弱。农业总产值37.0亿元, 比上年增长20.3%。粮豆产量达80.1万吨与上年基本持平。棉花产量2345吨，比上年增长1.2倍;花生产量2.3万吨, 比上年增长36.7%;水类产品达历史最高水平，产量61.0万吨,比上年增长8.6%；蔬菜产量达 108万吨,比上年增长38.5%。工业、农业都比上年有了不同的进步.97年全市内生产总值（现价） 141亿元，比96年增长10%。第一产业增加值28亿元，增长7.5%;第二产业增加值66亿元,增长11.5%;第三产业增加值47亿元,增长10%。<BR>
