These two miners were freed on Tuesday May 9, 14 days after they were first trapped." </p><p>I don't understand the wording in the first paragraph of the article. There were 14 miners involved, of which 11 escaped. That leaves 3, one of which sadly died, leaving the two that were trapped. Apparently this was considered unsafe and so a new tunnel was dug below the trapped miners and rescue was made. I wonder whether the rescuers believe in hindsight that this other route (a few metres) would have been preferable. A telehandler is a lower profile version that can extend it's boom to get higher up into the backs (roof) of the drives. The correct full name is Telescopic Handler but this is shortened to telehandler. The newspaper article has misspelt the manufacturers name - it is 'merlo'. I haven't heard that the piece of equipment was an IT, I've only heard mentions of the telehandler.
