Then take<MH3947> scales<MH3976> for weighing<MH4948> and divide<MH2505a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>the hair. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>A third<MH7992> you shall burn<MH1197a> in the fire<MH217> at the center<MH8432> of the city<MH5892b>, when the days<MH3117> of the siege<MH4692> are completed<MH4390>. Then you shall take<MH3947> a third<MH7992> and strike<MH5221> <i>it</i> with the sword<MH2719> all<MH5439> around<MH5439> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>the city, and a third<MH7992> you shall scatter<MH2219> to the wind<MH7307>; for I will unsheathe<MH7385a> a sword<MH2719> behind<MH310> them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>Take<MH3947> also a few<MH4592> <i>hairs</i> in number<MH4557> from <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>them and bind<MH6696a> them in the hems<MH3671> of your <i>robes.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Take<MH3947> again<MH5750> some<MH4480> of them and throw<MH7993> them into the fire<MH784> and burn<MH8313> them in the fire<MH784>; from it a fire<MH784> will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>spread<MH3318> to all<MH3605> the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>“This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the Lord<MH136> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>GOD<MH3068> says<MH559>: ‘This<MH2088> is Jerusalem<MH3389>; I have placed<MH7760> her at the center<MH8432> of the nations<MH1471>, with lands<MH776> around<MH5439> her. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>But she has rebelled<MH4784> against<MH854> My ordinances<MH4941> more<MH4480> wickedly<MH7564> than<MH4480> the nations<MH1471>, and against<MH854> My statutes<MH2708> more<MH4480> than<MH4480> the lands<MH776> which<MH834> surround<MH5439> her; for they have rejected<MH3988a> My ordinances<MH4941> and have not walked<MH1980> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>in My statutes<MH2708>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651>, this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068> says<MH559>: ‘Because<MH3282> you have more<MH4480> turmoil<MH2001a> than<MH4480> the nations<MH1471> that surround<MH5439> you <i>and</i> have not walked<MH1980> in My statutes<MH2708>, nor<MH3808> executed<MH6213a> My ordinances<MH4941>, nor<MH3808> acted<MH6213a> in accordance with the ordinances<MH4941> of the nations<MH1471> around<MH5439> you,’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>therefore<MH3651>, this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068> says<MH559>: ‘Behold<MH2009>, I, even<MH1571> I, am against<MH5921> you, and I will execute<MH6213a> judgments<MH4941> among<MH8432> you in the sight<MH5869> of the nations<MH1471>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And because<MH3282> of all<MH3605> your abominations<MH8441> I will do<MH6213a> among you what<MH834> I have not done<MH6213a>, and the like<MH3644> of which<MH834> I will never<MH3808> do<MH6213a> again<MH5750>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651>, fathers<MH1> will eat<MH398> <i>their</i> sons<MH1121> among<MH8432> you, and sons<MH1121> will eat<MH398> their fathers<MH1>; for I will execute<MH6213a> judgments<MH8201> on you and scatter<MH2219> all<MH3605> your remnant<MH7611> to every<MH3605> wind<MH7307>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651> as I live<MH2416a>,’ declares<MH5002> the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068>, ‘Because<MH3282> you have defiled<MH2930> My sanctuary<MH4720> with all<MH3605> your detestable<MH8251> idols<MH8251> and with all<MH3605> your abominations<MH8441>, I definitely<MH518, 3808> will also<MH1571> withdraw<MH1639> and My eye<MH5869> will have<MH2347> no<MH3808> pity<MH2347>, and I also<MH1571> will not spare<MH2550>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>A third<MH7992> of you will die<MH4191> by plague<MH1698> or perish<MH3615> by famine<MH7458> among<MH8432> you, a third<MH7992> will fall<MH5307> by the sword<MH2719> around<MH5439> you, and a third<MH7992> I will scatter<MH2219> to every<MH3605> wind<MH7307>, and I will unsheathe<MH7385a> a sword<MH2719> behind<MH310> them. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>‘Then My anger<MH639> will be spent<MH3615> and I will satisfy<MH5117> My wrath<MH2534> on them, and I will be appeased<MH5162>; then they will know<MH3045> that I, the LORD<MH3068>, have spoken<MH1696> in My zeal<MH7068>, when I have spent<MH3615> My wrath<MH2534> upon them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Moreover, I will make<MH5414> you a site<MH2723> of<MH2723> ruins<MH2723> and a disgrace<MH2781> among the nations<MH1471> that surround<MH5439> you, in the sight<MH5869> of everyone<MH3605> who passes<MH5674a> by<MH5674a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>So <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>it will be a disgrace<MH2781>, an <i>object of</i> abuse<MH1422>, a warning<MH4148>, and an object<MH4923> of<MH4923> horror<MH4923> to the nations<MH1471> that surround<MH5439> you when I execute<MH6213a> judgments<MH8201> against you in anger<MH639>, wrath<MH2534>, and raging<MH2534> reprimands<MH8433b>. I, the LORD<MH3068>, have spoken<MH1696>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>When I send<MH7971> against them the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>deadly<MH7451a> arrows<MH2671> of famine<MH7458> which<MH834> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>were for the destruction<MH4889> of those whom<MH834> I will send<MH7971> to destroy<MH7843> you, then I will also intensify<MH3254> the famine<MH7458> upon you and break<MH7665> off<MH7665> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>provision<MH4294> of bread<MH3899>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/5-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>I will send<MH7971> on you famine<MH7458> and vicious<MH7451a> animals<MH2421b>, and they will bereave<MH7921> you of<MH7921> children<MH7921>; plague<MH1698> and bloodshed<MH1818> also will pass<MH5674a> through you, and I will bring<MH935> the sword<MH2719> on you.
