This situation could be remedied by design and developing the appropriate context modeling and programming paradigm for context aware applications. In this paper, we are proposing the static context model and metrics for validating the expressiveness and understandability of the model. The proposed context modeling is a way of describing a situation of user using context entities , attributes and relationships .The model which is an extended and hybrid version of ER model, ontology model and Graphical model is specifically meant for expressing and understanding the user situation in context aware environment. The model is useful for understanding context aware problems, preparing documentation and designing programs and databases. The model makes use of context entity attributes relationship (CEAR) diagram for representation of association between the context entities and attributes. We have identified a new set of graphical notations for improving the expressiveness and understandability of context from the end user perspective . <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=user%20context" title="user context">user context</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context%20entity" title=" context entity"> context entity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context%20entity%20attributes" title=" context entity attributes"> context entity attributes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=situation" title=" situation"> situation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sensors" title=" sensors"> sensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=devices" title=" devices"> devices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relationships" title=" relationships"> relationships</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=actors" title=" actors"> actors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=expressiveness" title=" expressiveness"> expressiveness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=understandability" title=" understandability"> understandability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3666/modeling-user-context-using-cear-diagram" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3666.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">344</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5681</span> Towards Natively Context-Aware Web Services</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hajer%20Taktak">Hajer Taktak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faouzi%20Moussa"> Faouzi Moussa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the ubiquitous computing’s emergence and the evolution of enterprises’ needs, one of the main challenges is to build context-aware applications based on Web services. This dimension facilitates people daily activities and shortens the distances between individuals. When these technologies have been used in learning, a new paradigm has been emerged giving birth to mobile learning. Because of the mobility feature, m-learning courses have to be adapted dynamically to the learner’s context. The main challenge in context-aware mobile learning is to develop an approach building the best learning resources according to dynamic learning situations. In this paper, we propose a context-aware mobile learning system called Collaborative and Context-aware Mobile Learning System (CCMLS). It takes into account the requirements of Mobility, Collaboration and Context-Awareness. This system is based on the semantic modeling of the learning context and the learning content. The adaptation part of this approach is made up of adaptation rules to propose and select relevant resources, learning partners and learning activities based not only on the user’s needs, but also on its current context. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20learning" title="mobile learning">mobile learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20technologies" title=" mobile technologies"> mobile technologies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context-awareness" title=" context-awareness"> context-awareness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collaboration" title=" collaboration"> collaboration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semantic%20web" title=" semantic web"> semantic web</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptation%20engine" title=" adaptation engine"> adaptation engine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptation%20strategy" title=" adaptation strategy"> adaptation strategy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=learning%20object" title=" learning object"> learning object</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=learning%20context" title=" learning context"> learning context</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86589/collaborative-and-context-aware-learning-approach-using-mobile-technology" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86589.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">308</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5679</span> Graph Planning Based Composition for Adaptable Semantic Web Services</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rihab%20Ben%20Lamine">Rihab Ben Lamine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raoudha%20Ben%20Jemaa"> Raoudha Ben Jemaa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ikram%20Amous%20Ben%20Amor"> Ikram Amous Ben Amor</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposes a graph planning technique for semantic adaptable Web Services composition. First, we use an ontology based context model for extending Web Services descriptions with information about the most suitable context for its use. Then, we transform the composition problem into a semantic context aware graph planning problem to build the optimal service composition based on user's context. The construction of the planning graph is based on semantic context aware Web Service discovery that allows for each step to add most suitable Web Services in terms of semantic compatibility between the services parameters and their context similarity with the user's context. In the backward search step, semantic and contextual similarity scores are used to find best composed Web Services list. Finally, in the ranking step, a score is calculated for each best solution and a set of ranked solutions is returned to the user. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semantic%20web%20service" title="semantic web service">semantic web service</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=web%20service%20composition" title=" web service composition"> web service composition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptation" title=" adaptation"> adaptation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context" title=" context"> context</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graph%20planning" title=" graph planning"> graph planning</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62455/graph-planning-based-composition-for-adaptable-semantic-web-services" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62455.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">520</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5678</span> The Classical Islamic Laws of Apostasy in the Present Context</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Akbar">Ali Akbar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main purpose of this essay is to examine whether or not the earthly punishments in regards to apostates that are often found in classical Islamic sources are applicable in the present context. The paper indeed addresses how Muslims should understand the question of apostasy in the contemporary context. To do so, the paper first argues that an accurate understanding of the way the Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths deal with the concept of apostasy could help us rethink and re-examine the classical Islamic laws on apostasy in the present context. In addition, building on Abdolkarim Soroush’s theory of contraction and expansion of religious knowledge, this article argues that approaches to apostasy in the present context can move away from what prescribed by classical Islamic laws. Finally, it argues that instances of persecution of apostates in the early days of Islam during the Medinan period of Muhammad’s prophetic mission should be interpreted in their own socio-historical context. Rereading these reports within our modern context supports the mutability of the traditional corporal punishments of apostasy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=apostasy" title="apostasy">apostasy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Islam" title=" Islam"> Islam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Quran" title=" Quran"> Quran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hadith" title=" hadith"> hadith</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdolkarim%20Soroush" title=" Abdolkarim Soroush"> Abdolkarim Soroush</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contextualization" title=" contextualization"> contextualization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78723/the-classical-islamic-laws-of-apostasy-in-the-present-context" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78723.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">236</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5677</span> A Novel Approach to Design and Implement Context Aware Mobile Phone</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G.%20S.%20Thyagaraju">G. Context aware computing makes systems aware of situations of interest, enhances services to users, automates systems and personalizes applications. Context-aware services have been introduced into mobile devices, such as PDA and mobile phones. In this paper we are presenting a novel approaches used to realize the context aware mobile. The context aware mobile phone (CAMP) proposed in this paper senses the users situation automatically and provides user context required services. The proposed system is developed by using artificial intelligence techniques like Bayesian Network, fuzzy logic and rough sets theory based decision table. Bayesian Network to classify the incoming call (high priority call, low priority call and unknown calls), fuzzy linguistic variables and membership degrees to define the context situations, the decision table based rules for service recommendation. To exemplify and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods, the context aware mobile phone is tested for college campus scenario including different locations like library, class room, meeting room, administrative building and college canteen. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context%20aware%20mobile" title="context aware mobile">context aware mobile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20logic" title=" fuzzy logic"> fuzzy logic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decision%20table" title=" decision table"> decision table</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bayesian%20probability" title=" Bayesian probability"> Bayesian probability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3671/a-novel-approach-to-design-and-implement-context-aware-mobile-phone" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3671.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">365</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5676</span> A User Study on the Adoption of Context-Aware Destination Mobile Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Lu%20Hsu">Shu-Lu Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fang-Yi%20Chu"> Fang-Yi Chu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the advances in information and communications technology, mobile context-aware applications have become powerful marketing tools. The model was empirically tested based on a sample of 259 users of a tourism APP published by Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau, Taiwan. The results showed that the fitness of the model is well and, among all the factors, the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have the most significant influences on the intention to adopt context-aware destination APPs. Finally, contrary to the findings of previous literature, the effect of privacy concern on the adoption intention of context-aware APP is insignificant. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20application" title="mobile application">mobile application</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context-aware" title=" context-aware"> context-aware</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=privacy%20concern" title=" privacy concern"> privacy concern</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TAM" title=" TAM"> TAM</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9121/a-user-study-on-the-adoption-of-context-aware-destination-mobile-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9121.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">258</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5675</span> The Effect of Context in Eliminating Interpretation Problems of Screen Subtitles for the Promotion of Intelligible Film Language</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ezzeldin%20M.%20T.%20Ali">Ezzeldin M. Research in this area will provide an understanding of the association between these scenarios and subtitles via context. It attempts to eliminate the inconsistency existing between contexts and screen subtitles providing insights into the problem. Specifically, the study aims at examining the extent to which the understanding of screen subtitles largely depends on the force of linguistic and situational contexts. This is because the context is assumed to have a powerful effect on the interpretation of the source text. Both descriptive and experimental methods were adopted for data collection. These included a test and paper-pencil-questionnaires where participants provided their impressions about the role of context in eliminating interpretation problems of screen subtitles. Participants developed a good background about screen subtitles watching films. Results showed that context forms a powerful element in understanding screen subtitles. Results also revealed that communicative translation fits well screen translation boosting the contextual meaning. The association of context and communicative translation makes subtitles globally more economical and intelligible. Context forms a central element for film language to be intelligible. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=communicative%20translation" title="communicative translation">communicative translation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context" title=" context"> context</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scenario" title=" scenario"> scenario</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=powerful" title=" powerful"> powerful</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intellgible" title=" intellgible"> intellgible</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97207/the-effect-of-context-in-eliminating-interpretation-problems-of-screen-subtitles-for-the-promotion-of-intelligible-film-language" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97207.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">163</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5674</span> Towards Incorporating Context Awareness into Business Process Management</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaohui%20Zhao">Xiaohui Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahan%20Mafuz"> Shahan Mafuz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Context-aware technologies provide system applications with the awareness of environmental conditions, customer behaviour, object movements, etc. Further, with such capability system applications can be smart to adapt intelligently their responses to the changing conditions. Concerning business operations, this promises businesses that their business processes can run more intelligently, adaptively and flexibly, and thereby either improve customer experience, enhance reliability of service delivery, or lower operational cost, to make the business more competitive and sustainable. Aiming at realizing such context-aware business process management, this paper firstly explores its potential benefit and then identifies some gaps between the current business process management support and the expected. In addition, some preliminary solutions are also discussed with context definition, rule-based process execution, run-time process evolution, etc. A framework is also presented to give a conceptual architecture of context-aware business process management system to guide system implementation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20adaptation" title="business process adaptation">business process adaptation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20evolution" title=" business process evolution"> business process evolution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20modelling" title=" business process modelling"> business process modelling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=and%20context%20awareness" title=" and context awareness"> and context awareness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39629/towards-incorporating-context-awareness-into-business-process-management" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39629.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">412</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5673</span> Answering the Call for Empirical Evidence: Burnout, Context and Remote Work</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Clif%20P.%20Lewis">Clif P. The ‘future of work’ is now the ‘present of work’. Changes in the social context within which organisations are embedded necessitated drastic changes in how we work. Through the leveraging of technology and changes in mindset, we have seen exciting innovations in the world of work. This global shift in the context of employment offers a unique opportunity to examine a key unresolved issue in the study of Burnout, namely contextual antecedents. This study answers the call for deeper empirical insight into the contexts within which Burnout occur. We explore the emergence of Burnout within a remote work context by using survey data that incorporates the latest global work trends into the Areas of Worklife framework. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=burnout" title="burnout">burnout</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=remote%20work" title=" remote work"> remote work</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pandemic" title=" pandemic"> pandemic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wellness" title=" wellness"> wellness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144624/answering-the-call-for-empirical-evidence-burnout-context-and-remote-work" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144624.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5672</span> Model of a Context-Aware Middleware for Mobile Workers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esraa%20Moustafa">Esraa Moustafa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gaetan%20Rey"> Gaetan Rey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stephane%20Lavirotte"> Stephane Lavirotte</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jean-Yves%20Tigli"> Jean-Yves Tigli</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the development of Internet of Things and Web of Things, computing becomes more pervasive, invisible and present everywhere. In fact, in our environment, we are surrounded by multiple devices that deliver (web) services that meet the needs of the users. However, the mobility of these devices as the users has important repercussions that challenge software design of these applications because the variability of the environment cannot be anticipated at the design time. Thus, it will be interesting to dynamically discover the environment and adapt the application during its execution to the new contextual conditions. We, therefore, propose a model of a context-aware middleware that can address this issue through a monitoring service that is capable of reasoning and observation channels capable of calculating the context during the runtime. The monitoring service evaluates the pre-defined X-Query predicates in the context manager and uses Prolog to deduce the services needed to respond back. An independent Observation Channel for each different predicate is then dynamically generated by the monitoring service depending on the current state of the environment. Each channel sends its result directly to the context manager which consequently calculates the context based on all the predicates’ results while preserving the reactivity of the self-adaptive system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=auto-adaptation" title="auto-adaptation">auto-adaptation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context-awareness" title=" context-awareness"> context-awareness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=middleware" title=" middleware"> middleware</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reasoning%20engine" title=" reasoning engine"> reasoning engine</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63726/model-of-a-context-aware-middleware-for-mobile-workers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63726.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">251</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5671</span> Study of Icons in Enterprise Application Software Context </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shiva%20Subhedar">Shiva Subhedar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abhishek%20Jain"> Abhishek Jain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shivin%20Mittal"> Shivin Mittal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Icons are not merely decorative elements in enterprise applications but very often used because of their many advantages such as compactness, visual appeal, etc. Despite these potential advantages, icons often cause usability problems when they are designed without consideration for their many potential downsides. The aim of the current study was to examine the effect of articulatory distance – the distance between the physical appearance of an interface element and what it actually means. In other words, will the subject find the association of the function and its appearance on the interface natural or is the icon difficult for them to associate with its function. We have calculated response time and quality of identification by varying icon concreteness, the context of usage and subject experience in the enterprise context. The subjects were asked to associate icons (prepared for study purpose) with given function options in context and out of context mode. Many types of simulator input data require some computation to be placed in the proper format. For example, it might be necessary to generate ordered triples in which the third element is the sum of the first two elements, or it might be necessary to generate random numbers in some sorted order. Although DGL is universal in computational power, generating these types of data is extremely difficult. To overcome this problem, we have enhanced DGL to include features that permit direct computation within the structure of a context free grammar. The features have been implemented as special types of productions, preserving the context free flavor of DGL specifications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DGL" title="DGL">DGL</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Enhanced%20Context%20Free%20Grammars" title=" Enhanced Context Free Grammars"> Enhanced Context Free Grammars</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Programming%20Constructs" title=" Programming Constructs"> Programming Constructs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Random%20Data%20Generation" title=" Random Data Generation"> Random Data Generation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129615/programming-with-grammars" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129615.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5669</span> Developing the Morphological Field of Problem Context to Assist Multi-Methodology in Operations Research</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahnaz%20Hosseinzadeh">Mahnaz Hosseinzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Reza%20Mehregan"> Mohammad Reza Mehregan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we have developed a morphological field to assist multi- methodology (combining methodologies together in whole or part) in Operations Research (OR) for the problem contexts in Iranian organizations. For example, termination of a painful/aversive event may be relieving and rewarding. Accordingly, in this study, whether terminating an aversive negative prediction of pain would be reflected in a greater relief experience was investigated, with a view to separating apart the effects of the manipulation on pain and relief. We use aversive conditioning paradigm to investigate the perception of relief in an aversive (threat) vs. positive context. Participants received positive predictors of a non-painful outcome which were presented within either a congruent positive (non-painful) context or an incongruent threat (painful) context that had been previously conditioned; trials followed by identical laser stimuli on both conditions. Participants were asked to rate the perceived intensity of pain as well as their perception of relief in response to the cue predicting the outcome. Results demonstrated that participants reported more pain in the aversive context compared to the positive context. Conversely, participants reported more relief in the aversive context compares to the neutral context. The rating of relief in the threat context was not correlated with pain reports. The results suggest that relief is not dependant on pain intensity. Consistent with this, relief in the threat context was greater than that in the positive expectancy condition, while the opposite pattern was obtained for the pain ratings. The value of relief in this study is better appreciated in the context of an impending negative threat, which is apparent in the higher pain ratings in the prior negative expectancy compared to the positive expectancy condition. Moreover, the more threatening the context (as manifested by higher unpleasantness/higher state anxiety scores), the more the relief is appreciated. The importance of the study highlights the importance of exploring relief and pain intensity in monitoring separately or evaluating pain-related suffering. The results also illustrate that the perception of painful input may largely be shaped by the context and not necessarily stimulus-related. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aversive%20context" title="aversive context">aversive context</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pain" title=" pain"> pain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=predictions" title=" predictions"> predictions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relief" title=" relief"> relief</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111725/experimental-pain-study-investigating-the-distinction-between-pain-and-relief-reports" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111725.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5667</span> The Interplay of Factors Affecting Learning of Introductory Programming: A Comparative Study of an Australian and an Indian University</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ritu%20Sharma">Ritu Sharma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haifeng%20Shen"> Haifeng Shen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Teaching introductory programming is a challenging task in tertiary education and various factors are believed to have influence on students’ learning of programming. The proliferation of the mobile environment and social media cannot help but affect the results of the recommendation depending on how the factors of the user's situation are reflected in the recommendation process. Recently, research has been spreading attention to the context-aware recommender system which is to reflect user's contextual information in the recommendation process. However, until now, most of the context-aware recommender system researches have been limited in that they reflect the passive context of users. It is expected that the user will be able to express his/her contextual information through his/her active behavior and the importance of the context-aware recommender system reflecting this information can be increased. The purpose of this study is to propose a context-aware recommender system that can reflect the user's emotional state as an active context information to recommendation process. The context-aware recommender system is a recommender system that can make more sophisticated recommendations by utilizing the user's contextual information and has an advantage that the user's emotional factor can be considered as compared with the existing recommender systems. In this study, we propose a method to infer the user's emotional state, which is one of the user's context information, by using the user's facial expression data and to reflect it on the recommendation process. This study collects the facial expression data of a user who is looking at a specific product and the user's product preference score. Then, we classify the facial expression data into several categories according to the previous research and construct a model that can predict them. Next, the predicted results are applied to existing collaborative filtering with contextual information. As a result of the study, it was shown that the recommended results of the context-aware recommender system including facial expression information show improved results in terms of recommendation performance. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that future research will be conducted on recommender system reflecting various contextual information. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context-aware" title="context-aware">context-aware</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emotional%20state" title=" emotional state"> emotional state</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recommender%20systems" title=" recommender systems"> recommender systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20analytics" title=" business analytics"> business analytics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88567/context-aware-recommender-systems-using-users-emotional-state" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88567.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">229</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5665</span> Cognition of Driving Context for Driving Assistance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manolo%20Dulva%20Hina">Manolo Dulva Hina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Clement%20Thierry"> Clement Thierry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Assia%20Soukane"> Assia Soukane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amar%20Ramdane-Cherif"> Amar Ramdane-Cherif</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we presented our innovative way of determining the driving context for a driving assistance system. The environment will have to be able to perceive all of the interaction techniques. In this paper, we present the PICTAC model (Perceiving touch Interaction through TAgging Context), which similarly delivers service to members of a research group. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ambient%20intelligence" title="ambient intelligence">ambient intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tagging%20context" title=" tagging context"> tagging context</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=touch%20interaction" title=" touch interaction"> touch interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=touching%20services" title=" touching services"> touching services</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8679/touch-interaction-through-tagging-context" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8679.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">384</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5663</span> Reader Reception of Cultural Context for Chinese Translation of Scientific and Technical Discourse: An Empirical Study </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Caiwen%20Wang">Caiwen Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuling%20Liu"> Yuling Liu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Scientific and technical discourse is non-literary, and so it is often regarded as merely informative, free of the cultural context of both the source and the target language. Thus it is supposed that translators of sci-tech texts do not need to consider cultural factors in the translation process as readers only care for the information conveyed. This paper takes a different standpoint and shows that cultural context plays an important part in scientific and technical texts and thereafter in bridging the gap between different cultural communities of readers. The paper argues that the common cultural context for members of the same cultural community, such as morals, customs, and values, also underpins the sci-tech discourse of various text types, and therefore may pose difficulties for readers of a different cultural community if this is re-presented or translated literally. The research hypothesises that depending on how it is re-presented or translated; cultural context can either encourage or discourage readers’ reading experience and subsequently their interest to read and use translation texts. Drawing upon the Reception Theory by Hans Robert Jauss, the research investigates the relationship between cultural context and scientific and technical translation from English to Chinese. Citing 55 examples of sci-tech translations from magazines, newspapers and the website of Shell, a major international oil and gas company, the research shows that the source texts for these 55 cases all have bearing on the source cultural context, and translators will need to address this in the translation process instead of doing literal translation to be merely correct. The research then interviews 15 research subjects for their views of the translations. By assessing readers’ reception and perception of translated Chinese sci-tech discourse, the research concludes that cultural context contributes to the quality of scientific and technical translation in an important way and then discusses the implications of the findings for training scientific and technical translators. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chinese%20translation" title="Chinese translation">Chinese translation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cultural%20context" title=" cultural context"> cultural context</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reception%20theory" title=" reception theory"> reception theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scientific%20and%20technical%20texts" title=" scientific and technical texts"> scientific and technical texts</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61821/reader-reception-of-cultural-context-for-chinese-translation-of-scientific-and-technical-discourse-an-empirical-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61821.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">334</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5662</span> Context-Aware Recommender System Using Collaborative Filtering, Content-Based Algorithm and Fuzzy Rules</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xochilt%20Ramirez-Garcia">Xochilt Ramirez-Garcia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mario%20Garcia-Valdez"> Mario Garcia-Valdez</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Contextual recommendations are implemented in Recommender Systems to improve user satisfaction, recommender system makes accurate and suitable recommendations for a particular situation reaching personalized recommendations. Trust management has been identified as vital component for establishing and maintaining successful relational exchanges between trading partners in cloud and ubiquitous systems. Establishing trust is the way to build good relationship with both client and provider which positive activates will increase trust level, otherwise destroy trust immediately. We propose a new context-aware authentication system using a trust management system between client and server, and between servers, a trust which induces partnership, thus to a close cooperation between these servers. We defined the rules (algorithms), as well as the formulas to manage and calculate the trusting degrees depending on context, in order to uniquely authenticate a user, thus a single sign-on, and to provide him better services. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ubiquitous%20computing" title="ubiquitous computing">ubiquitous computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=authentication" title=" authentication"> authentication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context-awareness" title=" context-awareness"> context-awareness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trust%20management" title=" trust management"> trust management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89116/trust-management-for-an-authentication-system-in-ubiquitous-computing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89116.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">243</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5660</span> Antecedents of Online Trust Towards E-Retailers for Repeat Buyers: An Empirical Study in Indian Context</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prageet%20Aeron">Prageet Aeron</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shilpi%20Jain"> Shilpi Jain</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present work explores the trust building mechanisms in the context of e-commerce vendors and reconciles trust as a cognitive as well as a knowledge-based mechanism in the framework which is developed. Authors establish ability and integrity as primary antecedents as well as establish the central role of trust propensity in the online context for Indian buyers. Authors further identify that benevolence in the context of Indian buyers online behaviour seems insignificant, and this seems counter-intutive given the role of discounts in the Indian market. The services are constituted by reusable software components. The adaptation’s goal is to optimize the service function of their execution context. For a first step, the context will take into account just the user needs but other elements will be added. A particular feature in our proposition is the profiles that are used not only to describe the context’s elements but also the components itself. An adapter analyzes the compatibility between all these profiles and detects the points where the profiles are not compatibles. Due to a standardized safety concept, high reusability is accessible. A safety element out of context (SEooC) according to ISO 26262 can be a suitable approach. Based on the same safety concept and analysis, common modules can reach high usability. For developing according to a module out of context, an appropriate and detailed development approach is required. This paper shows how to derive these development processes for platform modules. Therefore, the detailed approach to the safety element out of context is derived. The aim is to create a detailed workflow for all phases of the development and integration of any kind of system modules. Research interest in the mechanism of moral disengagement has risen sharply in the organizational context over the last decades. Moral disengagement provides an explanatory approach to why individuals decide against their moral intent and describes the tendency to make unethical decisions due to a lack of self-regulation given various actions and their consequences. In our study, we examine the differences between individual decision-making given a commercial and social entrepreneurial context. Thereby, we investigate whether individuals in a social entrepreneurial context, characterized by pro-social goals and purpose beyond profit maximization, tend to make more or less “unethical” decisions in trade-off situations than those given a profit-focused commercial, entrepreneurial context. While a general priming effect may explain the tendency for individuals to make less unethical decisions given a social context, it remains unclear how individuals decide given a trade-off in that specific context. The trade-off in our study is characterized by the option to decide (un-) ethically to enhance the business purpose (in the social context, a social purpose, in the commercial context, a profit-maximization purpose). To investigate which characteristics of the context –and specifically of a trade-off – lead individuals to disregard and override their ethical values for a “greater good”, we design a conjoint analysis. This approach allows us to vary the attributes and scenarios and to test which attributes of a trade-off increase the probability of making an unethical choice. We add survey data to examine the individual propensity to morally disengage as an influencing factor to prefer certain attributes. Currently, we are in the final process of designing the conjoint analysis and plan to conduct the study by December 2022. We contribute to a better understanding of the role of moral disengagement in individual decision-making in a (social) entrepreneurial trade-off. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moral%20disengagement" title="moral disengagement">moral disengagement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20entrepreneurship" title=" social entrepreneurship"> social entrepreneurship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unethical%20decision" title=" unethical decision"> unethical decision</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conjoint%20analysis" title=" conjoint analysis"> conjoint analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158333/doing-bad-for-a-greater-good-moral-disengagement-in-social-and-commercial-entrepreneurial-contexts" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158333.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">87</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5654</span> A Study on the Mechanism of the Regeneration of ‘Villages-in-City’ under Rapid Urbanization: Cases Study of Luojiazhuang </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mengying%20Du">Mengying Du</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiang%20Chen"> Xiang Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> ‘villages-in-city’ is the unique product of rapid urbanization in China which embodies the contradiction between historical context and urbanization.
