Below, we show how readers, scholars, teachers, editors, scientific journal owners, managers, and librarians can take advantage of OUCI's capabilities. Of course, the use of the system is not limited to these examples.

Search for documents

You can search for scientific information simply by creating a search query, selecting the search terms, and clicking the "Find" button. By default, you can search by name, annotation, and DOI. The system finds publications with all the words that are specified in the search query.

Use the "Add search terms" button to add additional search fields and search terms: year, journal name, ISSN, publisher name, DOI prefix, author name, ORCID, author affiliation, funding source, journal category, scientific speciality, category ASJC, cited in the publications, indexed in the databases (information on the inclusion of the publication in Scopus and Web of Science is regularly updated in OUCI according to the lists provided on the official sites of these products).

The results page will first show you the latest publications. You can also view search results starting with the most recent query, or sort by citation count.

You can refine your search results using filters (type, year, publisher, edition name, category, etc.), as well as add additional search fields.

Use the "Filter Search Results" button to exclude from the search results all records of the edition by specifying the appropriate ISSN, or click × next to the entry from the journal you want to remove from the search results.

OUCI finds publications with all the words that are specified in the search query.

artificial intelligence

You can use logical operators and brackets in your searches.

You can use the minus symbol to exclude publications that contain the following words:

education 鈥揵arriers

The symbol | is used as a logical operator OR:

football | soccer | 褎褍褌斜芯谢

If you need to find the exact phrase (words, as stated in the search query and in the same order), then it should be indicated in quotation marks:

"machine learning"

Viewing publications that cite a particular publication will help you understand where the results of the published study have been used, developed (or refuted). Also, the number of citations to a document may indicate its scientific impact.

Thus, authors can use OUCI to search for scholarly publications, particularly in the process of writing a literature review section. Similarly, faculty and students will be able to use OUCI to find relevant scientific information in preparation for lectures and seminars.

You can click on the title on the search results page to view the document's metadata, the list of references used, and the list of publications citing this publication. The accuracy of these listings depends on the quality of the metadata transmitted to Crossref and the publisher's policy of supporting the Open Citation Initiative. You can also click on the DOI of a publication in the search results and go to the publisher's site. If this is an open edition, you can immediately see the full text of the publication.

Working with journals

Authors can check how fully a journal is presented in the scientific communication system and choose the best option to publish their research results. Search for your chosen keywords and, if necessary, filter the results, such as refine your ASJC category (for Scopus journals) or a scientific speciality (for Ukrainian publications).

 assessment | evaluation research

In the search results, you will see which journals have published the most papers on a given topic, which ones have published the most influential works that belong to Scopus or Web of Science, in category A or B.

For Ukrainian publications, you can view a journal card that contains additional information about the publication, the number of publications, citations, the most cited publications of the journal, and some scientometric indicators.

In the "Analytics" section you can view the top Ukrainian journals by the number of publications and by the number of citations, as well as compare journals of certain areas.

All this data should help authors choose the best journal to submit their manuscript.

OUCI's scientific journal editors can search for reviewers to evaluate manuscripts: search for publications by relevant keywords, select relevant authors, and contact them via email asking them to review a specific manuscript.

Similarly, journal founders can search for a potential editor and editorial board members, or browse for a particular author's academic background. Searching for an author on the basis of ORCID is most convenient, so we recommend that scholars and editors actively use this unique author ID.

Since the ORCIDs are not used extensively by Ukrainian editions, you can use the Cyrillic or Latin letters (using the OR operator) to get more results.

袩芯写蟹褨谐褍薪 | Podzigun

Editorial staff working with Crossref can use OUCI to quickly verify the correctness and completeness of submitting their publication metadata and submit the corrections to Crossref as needed. A quality presentation of the publication should help the editorial staff to obtain the manuscripts from the best authors and guarantee the best content for their readers.

OUCI system metrics

Administrators of higher education institutions and research institutions of Ukraine will be able to use OUCI metrics to evaluate the scientific performance and impact of individual publications, research teams and publications of their institutions.

The OUCI system allows you to view the number of publications and citations of Ukrainian publishers of scientific journals, as well as the number of publications, the number of citations, the h-index and the i10-index of Ukrainian scientific journals.

 Ukrainian Journal of Physical Optics

The OUCI journal metrics can be used as an alternative source of data for comparison of performance and citation of Ukrainian journals in their chosen areas. The metrics mentioned do not evaluate the quality of the published material, but can be a valuable source of information for experts.

The OUCI also allow librarians to analyze the relations between authors and papers in different disciplines. The possibility of exporting data in the xls format is realized.
