He is the national lead for eye research in Scotland. Andrew completed glaucoma fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Shiley Eye Institute, University of California San Diego. His research interests now focus on glaucoma surgery, drug delivery, glaucoma diagnosis and monitoring and telemedicine. He is a past recipient of the ARVO Innovative Research Award, Pfizer Ophthalmic Fellowship, Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Fauld’s Trophy and Tenovus Scotland Lady Illingworth Award. Andrew is a member of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS) Executive Committee and co-chairs the EGS scientific committee. He was a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Scientific Committee from 2017 to 2023. He is a section editor for Eye and an editor of the World Glaucoma Association’s International Glaucoma Review.
