you shall celebrate<MH6213a> it in accordance with all<MH3605> its statutes<MH2708> and all<MH3605> its ordinances<MH4941>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>So Moses<MH4872> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>told<MH1696> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> to celebrate<MH6213a> the Passover<MH6453>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And they celebrated<MH6213a> the Passover<MH6453> in the first<MH7223> <i>month,</i> on the fourteenth<MH702, 6240> day<MH3117> of the month<MH2320>, at twilight<MH6153>, in the wilderness<MH4057b> of Sinai<MH5514>; in accordance with everything<MH3605> that the LORD<MH3068> had commanded<MH6680> Moses<MH4872>, so<MH3651> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> did<MH6213a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>But there were <i>some</i> men<MH376> who<MH834> were unclean<MH2931> because of <i>contact with a</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>dead<MH5315> person<MH5315>, so that they could<MH3201> not celebrate<MH6213a> Passover<MH6453> on that day<MH3117>; and they came<MH7126> before<MH6440> Moses<MH4872> and Aaron<MH175> on that day<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Those<MH1992a> men<MH376> said<MH559> to him, “<i>Though</i> we are unclean<MH2931> because of a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>dead<MH5315> person<MH5315>, why<MH4100> are we kept<MH1639> from presenting<MH7126> the offering<MH7133a> of the LORD<MH3068> at its appointed<MH4150> time<MH4150> among<MH8432> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Moses<MH4872> then said<MH559> to them, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>Wait<MH5975>, and I will listen<MH8085> to what<MH4100> the LORD<MH3068> will command<MH6680> concerning you.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> spoke<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>“Speak<MH1696> to the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, saying<MH559>, ‘If<MH3588> any<MH376> one<MH376> of you or<MH176> of your generations<MH1755> becomes<MH1961> unclean<MH2931> because of a <i>dead</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>person<MH5315>, or<MH176> is on a distant<MH7350> journey<MH1870>, he may, however, celebrate<MH6213a> the Passover<MH6453> to the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>In the second<MH8145> month<MH2320> on the fourteenth<MH702, 6240> day<MH3117> at twilight<MH6153>, they shall celebrate<MH6213a> it; they shall eat<MH398> it with unleavened<MH4682> bread<MH4682> and bitter<MH4844> herbs<MH4844>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>They shall not leave<MH7604> any of it until<MH5704> morning<MH1242>, nor<MH3808> break<MH7665> a bone<MH6106> of it; they shall celebrate<MH6213a> it in accordance with the whole<MH3605> statute<MH2708> of the Passover<MH6453>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>But the person<MH376> who<MH834> is clean<MH2889> and is not on a journey<MH1870>, yet refrains<MH2308> from celebrating<MH6213a> the Passover<MH6453>, that <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>person<MH5315> shall then be cut<MH3772> off<MH3772> from his people<MH5971b>, because<MH3588> he did not present<MH7126> the offering<MH7133a> of the LORD<MH3068> at its appointed<MH4150> time<MH4150>. That person<MH376> will bear<MH5375> <i>the responsibility for</i> his sin<MH2399>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And if<MH3588> a stranger<MH1616> resides<MH1481a> among<MH854> you and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>celebrates<MH6213a> the Passover<MH6453> to the LORD<MH3068>, according to the statute<MH2708> of the Passover<MH6453> and its ordinance<MH4941>, so<MH3651> he shall celebrate<MH6213a> <i>it;</i> you shall have<MH1961> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>the same<MH259> statute<MH2708>, both for the stranger<MH1616> and for the native<MH249> of the land<MH776>.’” <p class="hdg">The Cloud on the Tabernacle</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Now on the day<MH3117> that the tabernacle<MH4908> was erected<MH6965>, the cloud<MH6051> covered<MH3680> the tabernacle<MH4908>, the tent<MH168> of the testimony<MH5715>, and in the evening<MH6153> it was like the appearance<MH4758> of fire<MH784> over<MH5921> the tabernacle<MH4908> until<MH5704> morning<MH1242>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>That<MH3651> is<MH3651> how<MH3651> it was continuously<MH8548>; the cloud<MH6051> would cover<MH3680> it <i>by day,</i> and the appearance<MH4758> of fire<MH784> by night<MH3915>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Whenever<MH6310> the cloud<MH6051> was lifted<MH5927> from over<MH5921> the tent<MH168>, afterward<MH310, 3651> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> would set<MH5265> out<MH5265>; and in the place<MH4725> where<MH834, 8033> the cloud<MH6051> settled<MH7931> down<MH7931>, there<MH8033> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> would camp<MH2583>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>At the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>command<MH6310> of the LORD<MH3068> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> would set<MH5265> out<MH5265>, and at the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>command<MH6310> of the LORD<MH3068> they would camp<MH2583>; as<MH3605, 3117> long<MH3605, 3117> as the cloud<MH6051> settled<MH7931> over<MH5921> the tabernacle<MH4908>, they remained<MH2583> camped<MH2583>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Even when the cloud<MH6051> lingered<MH748> over<MH5921> the tabernacle<MH4908> for many<MH7227a> days<MH3117>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> would comply<MH8104> with<MH8104> the LORD’S<MH3068> ordinance<MH4931> and not set<MH5265> out<MH5265>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/9-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>If <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>sometimes<MH3426> the cloud<MH6051> remained<MH1961> a few<MH4557> days<MH3117> over<MH5921> the tabernacle<MH4908>, in<MH5921> accordance<MH5921> with<MH5921> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>command<MH6310> of the LORD<MH3068> they remained<MH2583> camped<MH2583>.
