Israel went into captivity”<p> <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>From a distance LORD JEHOVAH appeared to me and he said to me: “The love of eternity has loved you; because of this, I have dragged you to grace <p> <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>Again I shall build you, and you shall be built up, virgin of Israel! You will delight again in adornments, and you shall go forth in the assembly of singers<p> <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>Again you shall plant vineyards in the mountain of Samaria, plant plants and sing<p> <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>Because that day is coming that they will call watchmen in the mountain of Aphreim, and they shall say: ‘Arise, go up to Zion to LORD JEHOVAH our God!’"<p> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>Because thus says LORD JEHOVAH: “Sing, those of the house of Yaqob, in joy, and dance for joy with the Ruler of the nations and make heard and sing and say, ‘LORD JEHOVAH ,save your people, the remnant of Israel!"<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>Behold, I bring them from the north land and I shall gather them from the ends of the Earth, and also the blind and the lame that are with them and the pregnant woman and she who gives birth together, a great multitude shall return here<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>With weeping they shall depart and in fervent prayer they shall come. I shall lead them on the path of the waters, in the straight ways in which they will not stumble, because I have been to Israel for a Father and Aphrim was my firstborn<p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>Hear the answer of LORD JEHOVAH, his people, and show in the distant islands, and say, “He who scattered Israel shall gather him and shall guard him, as a Shepherd keeps his flock<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>Because LORD JEHOVAH has saved Yaqob his Servant, and he saved him from the hands of him who is stronger than he<p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And they shall come and they shall sing in the height of Zion, and they shall be delighted by the good things of LORD JEHOVAH, from grain, and from wine, and from oil, and from sons of sheep and bulls, and their soul shall be like an irrigated garden, and they will not go on again being deprived<p> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>But the virgin shall rejoice in joy, and boys and the old men shall rejoice as one, and I shall turn their mourning to joy, and I shall comfort them, and I shall make them rejoice out of their misery<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And I shall intoxicate the soul of the Priest with luxury, and by my goodness my people shall be satisfied, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>Thus says LORD JEHOVAH: “A voice was heard in Ramtha, mourning, bitter weeping, Rachel weeping over her children, and she did not want to be comforted, because they are not”<p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>Thus says LORD JEHOVAH: “Restrain your voice from crying, and your eyes from tears, because there is a reward for your tears, says LORD JEHOVAH, and they shall return from the land of the enemy<p> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And there is hope for your end, says LORD JEHOVAH, and the children shall return to your borders<p> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>Hearing, I have heard Aphreim who howled, and you said: LORD JEHOVAH has punished me and I was punished. I have been like a calf that is untamed. Return me, and I shall return, because you are LORD JEHOVAH my God!<p> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>Because after I returned to God, I have been comforted, and after I knew I had found rest, I was ashamed, also I was rebuked, for I carried the reproach of my youth<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>Son Aphreim is precious to me and a child beloved, because in a time when I speak of him, I am reminded of him; because of this, my compassions have been upon him, and I shall love upon him, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>Raise up for yourself a standard and dwell in the wilderness. Give your heart to the straight way. Return, virgin of Israel, says LORD JEHOVAH, and dwell in these your cities<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>How long are you doubting, backsliding daughter? For LORD JEHOVAH has created a new thing in the earth: a female shall passionately love a husband <p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>Thus says LORD JEHOVAH of Hosts God of Israel, therefore they will speak this word in the land of Judea and in its cities when I return their captives: ‘LORD JEHOVAH shall bless you, righteous habitation, holy mountain!’<p> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And Yehuda shall dwell in it and all its cities as one, Farmers and Shepherds of flocks <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>Because I have made the soul of the thirsty drunk, and every soul of hunger I have filled <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>Because of this, I awoke and I saw, and my sleep was sweet to me<p> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>Behold, days are coming, says LORD JEHOVAH, and I shall plant those of the house of Israel and those of the house of Yehuda, the seed of the children of man and the seed of cattle <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And like when I purposed upon them to uproot them and to pull down and to overthrow and to destroy and to do evil, so I shall remember concerning them to build and to plant, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>In those days they shall not say again, ‘The fathers ate sour grapes and the teeth of the children are set on edge’<p> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/31-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>But a man shall die for his sins.
