Square Enix is reviving its classic <em>Thexder</em> franchise on PSP later this year as a download-exclusive title. According to <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20090923030616/http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/09/17/square_enix_psp_downloads">Andriasang</a>, the PSP version of <em>Thexder NEO</em> will feature a new easy mode, additional bosses and a six player online race mode. The game is getting a Japanese release on October 1st -- the same day as the PSP Go launches. Another noteworthy section mentions a "PS2 emulator for PS3," claiming that "SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN." The co-op mode pits players against the "Mirage Arena," which allows Keyblade-wielders to tackle standalone co-op missions, or set up multiplayer rematches against the core game's toughest bosses. In addition, Mirage Arena visitors will have special protective abilities with which to heal their friends or bolster their defenses. <br/> <br/> It sounds like a pretty interesting feature -- and should placate PSP owners who've been miffed about <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20090923030616/http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/04/hands-on-kingdom-hearts-358-2-days/"><em>358/2 Days</em>' multiplayer mode</a>. No reason to get upset gang! While many would argue that the third-person shooter controls implemented in <em>MGS4</em> are superior than the standard controls of earlier <em>Metal Gear</em> games, Kojima Productions is giving players a choice. The upcoming <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20090923030616/http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/metal-gear-solid-peace-walker"><em>Peace Walker</em></a> will feature both "action type" controls from <em>Portable Ops</em> and "shooter type" controls inspired by <em>MGS4</em>.<br/><br/>We're glad to hear that a new control scheme is being implemented in this second canonical <em>MGS</em> PSP game. The first game had terrific production values, but the controls certainly hampered our enjoyment.
