The present study assesses the cytotoxic and genotoxic effect of baron on rats liver. Two groups of rats were treated orally with 1/10 LD 50, (275.49 mg kg -1) and 1/40 LD 50, (68.86 mg kg-1) glyphosate for 28 days compared with control group. Serum and liver tissues were taken at 14 and 28 days of treatment. An inhibition in Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activities were recorded at both treatment periods and reduction in total serum protein (TP) and albumin (ALB). However, non-significant changes in serum acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Elevation in oxidative stress biomarker malondyaldehyde (MDA) and the decline in detoxification biomarker total reduced glutathione (GSH), Glutathione S-transferase (GST) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in liver tissues led to increase in percentage of DNA damage. Destruction in liver tissue architecture was observed . Although, Baron was classified in the safe category pesticides repeated exposure to small doses has great danger effect. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glyphosate" title="glyphosate">glyphosate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=liver%20toxicity" title=" liver toxicity"> liver toxicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oxidative%20stress" title=" oxidative stress"> oxidative stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA%20damage" title=" DNA damage"> DNA damage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=commet%20assay" title=" commet assay"> commet assay</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20739/hepatoxicity-induced-glyphosate-based-herbicide-baron-in-albino-rats" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20739.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">383</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">165</span> Optimization and Retrofitting for an Egyptian Refinery Water Network</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Mousa">Mohamed Mousa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sacristies in the supply of freshwater, strict regulations on discharging wastewater and the support to encourage sustainable development by water minimization techniques leads to raise the interest of water reusing, regeneration, and recycling. Water is considered a vital element in chemical industries. In this study, an optimization model will be developed to determine the optimal design of refinery’s water network system via source interceptor sink that involves several network alternatives, then a Mixed-Integer Non-Linear programming (MINLP) was used to obtain the optimal network superstructure based on flowrates, the concentration of contaminants, etc. The main objective of the model is to reduce the fixed cost of piping installation interconnections, reducing the operating cots of all streams within the refiner’s water network, and minimize the concentration of pollutants to comply with the environmental regulations. A real case study for one of the Egyptian refineries was studied by GAMS / BARON global optimization platform, and the water network had been retrofitted and optimized, leading to saving around 195 m³/ hr. of freshwater with a total reduction reaches to 26 %. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=freshwater%20minimization" title="freshwater minimization">freshwater minimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modelling" title=" modelling"> modelling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GAMS" title=" GAMS"> GAMS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BARON" title=" BARON"> BARON</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20network%20design" title=" water network design"> water network design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wastewater%20reudction" title=" wastewater reudction"> wastewater reudction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139312/optimization-and-retrofitting-for-an-egyptian-refinery-water-network" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139312.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">232</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">164</span> Gestural Pragmatic Inference among Primates: An Experimental Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siddharth%20Satishchandran">Siddharth Satishchandran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Brian%20Khumalo"> Brian Khumalo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Humans are able to derive semantic content from syntactic and pragmatic sources. Multimodal evidence from signaling theory, which examines communication between individuals within and across species, suggests that non-human primates possess similar syntactic and pragmatic capabilities. However, the extent remains unknown because primate pragmatics are relatively under-examined. Our paper reviews research within communication theory amongst non-human primates to understand current theoretical trends. We examine evidence for primate pragmatic capacities through observational, experimental, and theoretical work on gestures. Given fragmented theoretical perspectives, we provide a unified framework of communication for future research that contextualizes the available research under code biology. To achieve this, we rely on biological semiotics (biosemiotics), the philosophy of biology investigating prelinguistic meaning-making as a function of signs and codes. We close by discussing areas of potential research for studying gestural pragmatics amongst non-human primates, particularly chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes), Diana monkeys (Cercopithecus diana), and other potential candidates. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pragmatics" title="pragmatics">pragmatics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-human%20primates" title=" non-human primates"> non-human primates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gestural%20communication" title=" gestural communication"> gestural communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biological%20semiotics" title=" biological semiotics"> biological semiotics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186271/gestural-pragmatic-inference-among-primates-an-experimental-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186271.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">39</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">163</span> Covid-19 Pandemic: Another Lesson Learned by a Military Hospital</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariana%20Floria">Mariana Floria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elena-Diana%20N%C4%83fureanu"> Elena-Diana Năfureanu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana-Mihaela%20G%C4%83l%C4%83%C5%A3anu"> Diana-Mihaela Gălăţanu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anca-Ecaterina%20Grumeza"> Anca-Ecaterina Grumeza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cristina%20Gorea-Boc%C3%AEnc%C4%83"> Cristina Gorea-Bocîncă</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana-Elena%20Iov"> Diana-Elena Iov</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aurelian-Corneliu%20Moraru"> Aurelian-Corneliu Moraru</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Drago%C8%99-Marian%20Popescu"> Dragoș-Marian Popescu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> SARS-CoV-2 is the most deadly and devastating virus of the last one hundred years, being more highly contagious than EBOLA, HIV, Swine Influenza, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome. After two years of pandemic, planning and budgeting for use of healthcare resources and services is very important. The aim of this study was to analyze the costs for hospital stay in patients with predominantly moderate forms of COVID-19 in a support military hospital located in Nord-East of Romania. Inpatient COVID-19 hospitalizations costs, regardless of ICD-10 procedure codes (DRG payment), in a Covid-19 support military hospital were analyzed. From August 2020 through June 2021, 241 patientswere hospitalized. Our national protocol for the treatment of Covid-19 infection was applied. The main COVID-19 manifestations were: 69% respiratory (18% with severe pneumonia, 2.9% with pulmonary embolism, diagnosed by angio-computed tomography), 3.3% cardiac, 28% digestive, and 33% psychiatric (most common anxiety) manifestations. According to COVID-19 severity, most of the patients had moderate (104 patients – 43%) and severe (50 patients - 21%) forms. Seven patients with severe form died because of multiple comorbidities, and 30 patients were transferred in hospitals with COVID-19 intensive care units.Only two patients have had procalcitonin>10 ng/mL (high probability of severe sepsis or septic shock), and 1 patient had moderate risk for septic shock (0.5 - 2 ng/mL). The average estimated costs were about 3000€/patient, without significantly differences depending on disease severity. Equipment costs were 2 times higher than for drugs and 4 times than for laboratory tests. In a Covid-19 support military hospital that took care for predominantly moderate forms of COVID-19, the costs for equipment were much higher than that for treatment. Therefore, new criteria for hospitalization of these forms of COVID-19 deserve to be analyzed to avoid useless costs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Covid-19" title="Covid-19">Covid-19</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=costs" title=" costs"> costs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hospital%20stay" title=" hospital stay"> hospital stay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=military%20hospital" title=" military hospital"> military hospital</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146164/covid-19-pandemic-another-lesson-learned-by-a-military-hospital" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146164.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">162</span> Component Composition of Biologically Active Substances in Extracts of Some Species from the Family Lamiaceae Lindl.</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Galina%20N.%20Parshina">Galina N. Many plant species from this family are used in science and medicine. Some researchers believe that the medicinal properties of these plants are caused by the action on the organism of the individual components (camphor, menthol, thymol, eugenol, phenols, flavonoids, alcohols, and their derivatives) or the entire complex of essential oils. Biologically active substances (BAS), isolated from these medicinal plants can be an effective supplement in the complex treatment of infectious diseases. The substances of the phenolic group such as flavonoids and phenolic acids; and also alkaloids included in the component composition of the plants from the family Lamiaceae Lindl. present the scientific and practical interest for future investigations of their biological activity and development of medicinal products. The research objects are the species from the family Lamiaceae Lindl., cultivated in the North-Kazakhstan region. In this abstract, we present the results of the investigation of polyphenolic complex (flavonoids and phenolic acids) and alkaloids in aqueous and ethanol extracts. Investigation of the qualitative composition of flavonoids in the aqueous extracts showed that the species Monarda Diana contains flavone, Dracocephalum moldavica contains rutin, Ocimum basilicum (purple form) contains both ruin and quercetin. Biochemical analysis revealed that the ethanol extract of Monarda Diana has phenolic acids, similar to protocatechuic and benzoic acids by their chromatographic characteristics. But the aqueous extract contains four phenolic acids, one of which is an analogue of gentisic acid; and the other three are not identified yet. The phenolic acids such as benzoic and gentisic acids identified in ethanol extracts of species Ocimum basilicum (purple form) and Satureja hortensis, correspondingly. But the same phenolic acids did not appear in aqueous extracts. The phenolic acids were not determined neither in the ethanol or aqueous extracts of species Dracocephalum moldavica. The biochemical analysis did not reveal the content of alkaloids in aqueous extracts of investigated plants. However, the alkaloids in the amount of 5-13 components were identified in the ethanolic extracts of plants by the qualitative reactions. The results of analysis with reagent of Dragendorff showed that next amounts of alkaloids were identified in extracts of Monarda Diana (6-7), Satureja hortensis (6), Ocimum basilicum (7-9) and Dracocephalum moldavica (5-6). The reactions with reagent of Van-Urca showed that next amounts of alkaloids were identified in extracts of Monarda Diana (9-12), Satureja hortensis (9-10), two alkaloids of them with Rf6=0,39 and Rf6=0,31 similar to roquefortine), Ocimum basilicum (11) and Dracocephalum moldavica (13, two of them with Rf5=0,34 and Rf5=0,33 by their chromatographic characteristics similar to epikostaklavin). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biologically%20active%20substances" title="biologically active substances">biologically active substances</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lamiaceae" title=" Lamiaceae"> Lamiaceae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=component%20composition" title=" component composition"> component composition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medicinal%20plant" title=" medicinal plant"> medicinal plant</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18801/component-composition-of-biologically-active-substances-in-extracts-of-some-species-from-the-family-lamiaceae-lindl" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18801.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">503</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">161</span> Identification of the Orthotropic Parameters of Cortical Bone under Nanoindentation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=D.%20Remache">D. The need to support their families leads many educated Palestinians to forgo finding work in their profession in the Palestinian Authority and instead look for employment in those sectors open to them in Israel, particularly the construction, agriculture, and industry sectors. The International Labor Organization estimated that about 1,200 workers in Israel die every year because of occupational diseases (diseases caused by working conditions). Construction workers in Israel are constantly exposed to dust, noise, chemical materials, and work in awkward postures, which require prolonged bending, repetitive motion, and other risk factors that can lead to illnesses and death. Occupational health is vastly neglected in Israel and construction workers are particularly at risk . As of June 2022, the Israeli quota in the construction sector for Palestinian workers stood at 80,000. Kav LaOved released a new study on the state of occupational health among Palestinian workers employed in construction in Israel. The study Roadmap to Health: Palestinian Workers in Israel's Construction Sector reviews the extent to which the health of Palestinian workers is protected at work in Israel. The report includes analysis of a survey administered to 256 workers as well as interviews with 10 workers and with 5 Israeli occupational health experts. Report highlights: • Among survey respondents, 63.9% stated that safety procedures to protect their health are rarely followed in their workplace (e.g., taking breaks, using protective gear, following restrictions on lifting heavy items, and having inspectors regularly on site to monitor safety). • All 256 Palestinian workers who participated to the survey said that their health has been directly or indirectly harmed by working in Israel and reported suffering from the following problems: orthopedic problems such as joint, hand, leg or knee problems (100%); headaches (75%); back problems (36.3%); eye problems (23.8%); breathing problems (17.6%); chronic pain (14.8%); heart problems (7.8%); and skin problems (3.5%). • Workers who are injured or do not feel well often continue working for fear of losing their payment for that day. About half of the 256 survey respondents reported that they pay brokerage fees to find an employer with a work permit, often paying between 2,000 and 3,000 NIS per month. “I have an obligation—I pay about NIS 120 a day for my permit, [and] I have to pay for it whether I work or not" a worker said. • Most Palestinian construction workers suffer from stress and mental health problems. Workers pointed to several issues that greatly affect their mood and mental state: daily crossings at crowded checkpoints where workers stand for hours; lack of sleep due to leaving home daily at 3:00-3:30 am; commuting two to four hours to work in each direction; and abusive work environments. A worker told KLO that the sight of thousands of workers standing together at the checkpoint causes “high blood pressure and the feeling that you are going to be squeezed.” Another said, “I felt that my bones would break.” In the survey workers reported suffering from insomnia (70.1%), breathing difficulties (35.8%), chest pressure (27.6%), or rapid pulse rate (12.2%). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction%20sector" title="construction sector">construction sector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=palestinian%20workers" title=" palestinian workers"> palestinian workers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=occupational%20health" title=" occupational health"> occupational health</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Israel" title=" Israel"> Israel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=occupation" title=" occupation"> occupation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165844/road-map-to-health-palestinian-workers-in-israels-construction-sector" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165844.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">88</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">159</span> Use of the Occupational Repetitive Action Method in Different Productive Sectors: A Literature Review 2007-2018</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aanh%20Eduardo%20Dimate-Garcia">Aanh Eduardo Dimate-Garcia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Carolina%20Rodriguez-Romero"> Diana Carolina Rodriguez-Romero</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Edna%20Yuliana%20Gonzalez%20Rincon"> Edna Yuliana Gonzalez Rincon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Marcela%20Pardo%20Lopez"> Diana Marcela Pardo Lopez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yessica%20Garibello%20Cubillos"> Yessica Garibello Cubillos</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Musculoskeletal disorders (MD) are the new epidemic of chronic diseases, are multifactorial and affect the different productive sectors. Although there are multiple instruments to evaluate the static and dynamic load, the method of repetitive occupational action (OCRA) seems to be an attractive option. Objective: It is aimed to analyze the use of the OCRA method and the prevalence of MD in workers of various productive sectors according to the literature (2007-2018). Materials and Methods: A literature review (following the PRISMA statement) of studies aimed at assessing the level of biomechanical risk (OCRA) and the prevalence of MD in the databases Scielo, Science Direct, Scopus, ProQuest, Gale, PubMed, Lilacs and Ebsco was realized; 7 studies met the selection criteria; the majority are quantitative (cross section). Results: it was evidenced (gardening and flower-growers) in this review that 79% of the conditions related to the task require physical requirements and involve repetitive movements. In addition, of the high appearance of DM in the high-low back, upper and lower extremities that are produced by the frequency of the activities carried out (footwear production). Likewise, there was evidence of 'very high risks' of developing MD (salmon industry) and a medium index (OCRA) for repetitive movements that require special care (U-Assembly line). Conclusions: the review showed the limited use of the OCRA method for the detection of MD in workers from different sectors, and this method can be used for the detection of biomechanical risk and the appearance of MD. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=checklist" title="checklist">checklist</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cumulative%20trauma%20disorders" title=" cumulative trauma disorders"> cumulative trauma disorders</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=musculoskeletal%20diseases" title=" musculoskeletal diseases"> musculoskeletal diseases</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=repetitive%20movements" title=" repetitive movements"> repetitive movements</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100191/use-of-the-occupational-repetitive-action-method-in-different-productive-sectors-a-literature-review-2007-2018" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100191.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">181</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">158</span> Improving the Liquid Insulation Performance with Antioxidants</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Helan%20Gethse%20J.">Helan Gethse J.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dhanya%20K."> Dhanya K.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muthuselvi%20G."> Muthuselvi G.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Hyden%20N."> Diana Hyden N.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samuel%20Pakianathan%20P."> Samuel Pakianathan P.</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Transformer oil is mostly used to keep the transformer cool. The study also examines the mediating role of job satisfaction and organizational commitment for relationship of emotional labor strategies with intentions to quit. Data were conveniently collected from 307 nurses by using self-administered questionnaire. Linear regression test was applied to find the relationship between the variables. Mediation was checked through Baron and Kenny Model and Sobel test. Results prove the existence of partial mediation of job satisfaction between the emotional labor strategies and quitting intentions. The study recommends that deep acting should be promoted because it is positively associated with quality of work life, work engagement and organizational citizenship behavior of employees. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emotional%20labor%20strategies" title="emotional labor strategies">emotional labor strategies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intentions%20to%20quit" title=" intentions to quit"> intentions to quit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=job%20satisfaction" title=" job satisfaction"> job satisfaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organizational%20commitment" title=" organizational commitment"> organizational commitment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nursing" title=" nursing"> nursing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112165/emotional-labor-strategies-and-intentions-to-quit-among-nurses-in-pakistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112165.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">155</span> Molecular Docking Assessment of Pesticides Binding to Bacterial Chitinases</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Larisa%20Vladoiu">Diana Larisa Vladoiu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vasile%20Ostafe"> Vasile Ostafe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adriana%20Isvoran"> Adriana Isvoran</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Molecular docking calculations reveal that pesticides provide favorable interactions with the bacterial chitinases. The proposed balancing technique is achieved in two steps: at first, optimal redistribution of the masses of input links is accomplished, which ensures the similarity of the end-effector trajectory and the manipulator’s common centre of mass trajectory, then, optimal trajectory planning of the end-effector by 'bang-bang' profile is reached. In such a way, the minimization of the magnitude of the acceleration of the centre of mass of the manipulator brings about a minimization of shaking force. To minimize the resultant of the inertia moments (shaking moment), the active balancing via inertia flywheel is applied. However, in this case, the active balancing is quite different from previous applications because it provides only a partial cancellation of the shaking moment due to the incomplete balancing of shaking force. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20balancing" title="dynamic balancing">dynamic balancing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inertia%20force%20minimization" title=" inertia force minimization"> inertia force minimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inertia%20moment%20minimization" title=" inertia moment minimization"> inertia moment minimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3-RRR%20planar%20parallel%20manipulator" title=" 3-RRR planar parallel manipulator"> 3-RRR planar parallel manipulator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70145/synthesis-of-balanced-3-rrr-planar-parallel-manipulators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70145.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">462</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">148</span> The Existence of Beauveria bassiana in the Third Generation of Corn Seedling</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Itji%20Diana%20Daud">Itji Diana Daud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nuniek%20Widiayani"> Nuniek Widiayani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The fungus Beauveria bassiana can be endophytic in maize. This relation is tested by using two models. The first is used for testing this relation directly by regressing firm specific estimates of cost of equity capital on market beta, firm size and a measure of disclosure level. The second model is used for testing this relation by introducing information asymmetry as mediator variable. This model is suggested by Baron and Kenny (1986) to demonstrate the role of mediator variable in general. Based on a sample of 21 non-financial Tunisian’s listed firms over a period from 2000 to 2004, the results prove that greater disclosure is associated with a lower cost of equity capital. However, the results of indirect relationship indicate a significant positive association between the level of voluntary disclosure and information asymmetry and a significant negative association between information asymmetry and cost of equity capital in contradiction with our previsions. Perhaps this result is due to the biases of measure of information asymmetry. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cost%20of%20equity%20capital" title="cost of equity capital">cost of equity capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=voluntary%20disclosure" title=" voluntary disclosure"> voluntary disclosure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20asymmetry" title=" information asymmetry"> information asymmetry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=and%20Tunisian%E2%80%99s%20listed%20non-financial%20firms" title=" and Tunisian’s listed non-financial firms"> and Tunisian’s listed non-financial firms</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19862/the-impact-of-voluntary-disclosure-level-on-the-cost-of-equity-capital-in-tunisians-listed-firms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19862.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">517</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">146</span> Strategic Evaluation of Existing Drainage System in Apalit, Pampanga</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jennifer%20de%20Jesus">Jennifer de Jesus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ares%20Baron%20Talusan"> Ares Baron Talusan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Steven%20Valerio"> Steven Valerio</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper aims to conduct an evaluation of the drainage system in a specific village in Apalit, Pampanga using the geographic information system to easily identify inadequate drainage lines that needs rehabilitation to aid in flooding problem in the area. The researchers will be utilizing two methods and software to be able to strategically assess each drainage line in the village– the two methods were the rational method and the Manning's Formula for Open Channel Flow and compared it to each other, and the software to be used was Google Earth Pro by 2020 Google LLC. The results must satisfy the statement QManning > QRational to be able to see if the specific line and section is adequate; otherwise, it is inadequate; dimensions needed to be recomputed until it became adequate. The use of the software is the visualization of data collected from the computations to clearly see in which areas the drainage lines were adequate or not. The researchers were then able to conclude that the drainage system should be considered inadequate, seeing as most of the lines are unable to accommodate certain intensities of rainfall. The researchers have also concluded that line rehabilitation is a must to proceed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strategic%20evaluation" title="strategic evaluation">strategic evaluation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drainage%20system" title=" drainage system"> drainage system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=as-built%20plans" title=" as-built plans"> as-built plans</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inadequacy" title=" inadequacy"> inadequacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rainfall%20intensity-duration-frequency%20data" title=" rainfall intensity-duration-frequency data"> rainfall intensity-duration-frequency data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rational%20method" title=" rational method"> rational method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=manning%E2%80%99s%20equation%20for%20open%20channel%20flow" title=" manning’s equation for open channel flow"> manning’s equation for open channel flow</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145918/strategic-evaluation-of-existing-drainage-system-in-apalit-pampanga" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145918.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">128</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">145</span> Clay Mineralogy of Mukdadiya Formation in Shewasoor Area: Northeastern Kirkuk City, Iraq</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abbas%20R.%20Ali">Abbas R. This calls for a challenge in providing effective measures to reduce bullying. The study aimed to determine which among the socio-emotional aspects of adolescent males could predict bullying. The respondents of the study were the grades 10 and 11 level and the selection of the respondents was based on the names listed by the teachers and guidance counselors through the Student Nomination Questionnaire. The Bullying Survey Questionnaire Checklist was answered by the respondents to be able to identify their most observed bullying behavior. On the other hand, the level of their mental ability was measured through the use of Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, while their socio-emotional aspects was is classified into 2 contexts: emotional intelligence and personality traits which were determined with the use of Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory: Youth Version (BarOn EQ-i:YV) and the Five-Factor Personality Inventory-Children (FFPI-C). Results indicated that majority of the respondents have average level of mental ability and socio-emotional aspects. However, many students have low to markedly low level interpersonal scale. Furthermore, general mood and emotional regulation were found as predictors of bullying behaviors. These findings became the basis for a proposed bullying intervention program. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bullying" title="bullying">bullying</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emotional%20intelligence" title=" emotional intelligence"> emotional intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mental%20ability" title=" mental ability"> mental ability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personality%20traits" title=" personality traits"> personality traits</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46558/general-mood-and-emotional-regulation-as-predictors-of-bullying-behaviors-among-adolescent-males-basis-for-a-proposed-bullying-intervention-program" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46558.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">282</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">143</span> Impact of Protean Career Attitude on Career Success with the Mediating Effect of Career Insight</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prabhashini%20Wijewantha">Prabhashini Wijewantha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study looks at the impact of protean career attitude of employees on their career success and next it looks at the mediation effect of career insights on the above relationship. Career success is defined as the accomplishment of desirable work related outcomes at any point in person’s work experiences over time and it comprises of two sub variables, namely, career satisfaction and perceived employability. Protean career attitude was measured using the eight items from the Self Directedness subscale of the Protean Career Attitude scale developed by Briscoe and Hall, where as career satisfaction was measured by the three item scale developed by Martine, Eddleston, and Veiga. Perceived employability was also evaluated using three items and career insight was measured using fourteen items that were adapted and used by De Vos and Soens. Data were collected from a sample of 300 mid career executives in Sri Lanka deploying the survey strategy and data were analyzed using the SPSS and AMOS software version 20.0. A preliminary analysis of data was initially performed where data were screened and reliability and validity were ensured. Next a simple regression analysis was performed to test the direct impact of protean career attitude on career success and the hypothesis was supported. The Baron and Kenney’s four steps, three regressions approach for mediator testing was used to calculate the mediation effect of career insight on the above relationship and a partial mediation was supported by the data. Finally theoretical and practical implications are discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=career%20success" title="career success">career success</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=career%20insight" title=" career insight"> career insight</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mid%20career%20MBAs" title=" mid career MBAs"> mid career MBAs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protean%20career%20attitude" title=" protean career attitude "> protean career attitude </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27602/impact-of-protean-career-attitude-on-career-success-with-the-mediating-effect-of-career-insight" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27602.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">360</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">142</span> Immersing Socio-Affective Instruction within the Constructs of the Academic Curriculum: A Study of Gifted and Talented Programs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20Granger-Ellis">R. This study focused on students receiving distinctive gifted and talented curricula (creative arts, arts-integrated, and academic acceleration) and analyzed for (1) socio-affective development levels and (2) whether a particular curriculum encouraged developmental growth. Research questions guiding the study: (1) How do academically and artistically gifted 10th and 11th grade students perform on psychological scales of social and emotional intelligence? (2) Do adolescents receiving distinctive gifted and talented curriculum differ in their socio-affective developmental profiles? Students’ performances on psychometric scales were compared over time and by curriculum type. Over the first semester of the academic year, participants took pre- and post-tests assessing socio-affective intelligence (BarOn EQ-I: YV). Differences in growth on these psychological scales (individuals and programs) were examined. Program artifacts provided insight for curriculum correlation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gifted%20and%20talented%20curriculum" title="gifted and talented curriculum">gifted and talented curriculum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20and%20emotional%20development" title=" social and emotional development"> social and emotional development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moral%20development" title=" moral development"> moral development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=socio-affective%20curriculum" title=" socio-affective curriculum"> socio-affective curriculum</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83338/immersing-socio-affective-instruction-within-the-constructs-of-the-academic-curriculum-a-study-of-gifted-and-talented-programs" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83338.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">370</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">141</span> Evaluating the Radiation Dose Involved in Interventional Radiology Procedures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kholood%20Baron">Kholood Baron</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Radiologic interventional studies use fluoroscopy imaging guidance to perform both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. These could result in high radiation doses being delivered to the patients and also to the radiology team. This is due to the prolonged fluoroscopy time and the large number of images taken, even when dose-minimizing techniques and modern fluoroscopic tools are applied. Hence, these procedures are part of the everyday routine of interventional radiology doctors, assistant nurses, and radiographers. Thus, it is important to estimate the radiation exposure dose they received in order to give objective advice and reduce both patient and radiology team radiation exposure dose. The aim of this study was to find out the total radiation dose reaching the radiologist and the patient during an interventional procedure and to determine the impact of certain parameters on the patient dose. Method: The radiation dose was measured by TLD devices (thermoluminescent dosimeter; radiation dosimeter device). Physicians, patients, nurses, and radiographers wore TLDs during 12 interventional radiology procedures performed in two hospitals, Mubarak and Chest Hospital. This study highlights the need for interventional radiologists to be mindful of the radiation doses received by both patients and medical staff during interventional radiology procedures. The findings emphasize the impact of factors such as fluoroscopy duration and the number of images taken on the patient dose. By raising awareness and providing insights into optimizing techniques and protective measures, this research contributes to the overall goal of reducing radiation doses and ensuring the safety of patients and medical staff. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dosimetry" title="dosimetry">dosimetry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radiation%20dose" title=" radiation dose"> radiation dose</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interventional%20radiology%20procedures" title=" interventional radiology procedures"> interventional radiology procedures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=patient%20radiation%20dose" title=" patient radiation dose"> patient radiation dose</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174903/evaluating-the-radiation-dose-involved-in-interventional-radiology-procedures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174903.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">112</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">140</span> Organization Culture: Mediator of Information Technology Competence and IT Governance Effectiveness </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sonny%20Nyeko">Sonny Nyeko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moses%20Niwe"> Moses Niwe</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Purpose: This research paper examined the mediation effect of organization culture in the relationship between information technology (IT) competence and IT governance effectiveness in Ugandan public universities. The purpose of the research paper is to examine the role of organizational culture in the relationship between IT competence and IT governance effectiveness. Design/methodology/approach: The paper adopted the MedGraph program, Sobel tests and Kenny and Baron Approach for testing the mediation effects. Findings: It is impeccable that IT competence and organization culture are true drivers of IT governance effectiveness in Ugandan public universities. However, organizational culture reveals partial mediation in the IT competence and IT governance effectiveness relationship. Research limitations/implications: The empirical investigation in this research depends profoundly on public universities. Future research in Ugandan private universities could be undertaken to compare results. Practical implications: To effectively achieve IT governance effectiveness, it means senior management requires IT knowledge which is a vital ingredient of IT competence. Moreover, organizations today ought to adopt cultures that are intended to have them competitive in their businesses, with IT operations not in isolation. Originality/value: Spending thousands of dollars on IT resources in advanced institutes of learning necessitates IT control. Preliminary studies in Ugandan public universities have revealed the ineffective utilization of IT resources. Besides, IT governance issues with IT competence and organization culture remain outstanding. Thus, it’s a new study testing the mediating outcome of organization culture in the association between IT competence and IT governance effectiveness in the Ugandan universities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organization%20culture" title="organization culture">organization culture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IT%20competence" title=" IT competence"> IT competence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IT%20governance" title=" IT governance"> IT governance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effectiveness" title=" effectiveness"> effectiveness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mediating%20effect" title=" mediating effect"> mediating effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=universities" title=" universities"> universities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Uganda" title=" Uganda"> Uganda</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123062/organization-culture-mediator-of-information-technology-competence-and-it-governance-effectiveness" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123062.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">139</span> Magnetic Fluctuations in the Terrestrial Magnetosheath</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexandre%20Gurchumelia">Alexandre Gurchumelia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luca%20Sorriso-Valvo"> Luca Sorriso-Valvo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=David%20Burgess"> David Burgess</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khatuna%20Elbakidze"> Khatuna Elbakidze</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oleg%20Kharshiladze"> Oleg Kharshiladze</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Kvaratskhelia"> Diana Kvaratskhelia</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The terrestrial magnetosheath is a highly turbulent medium, with a high level of magnetic1field fluctuations throughout a broad range of scales. These often include an inertial range where a2magnetohydrodynamic turbulent cascade is observed. The multifractal properties of the turbulent3cascade, strictly related to intermittency, are observed here during the transition from quasi-parallel to4quasi-perpendicular magnetic field with respect to the bow-shock normal. The different multifractal5behavior in the two regions is analyzed. A standard coarse-graining technique has been used6to evaluate the generalized dimensions and the corresponding multifractal spectrumf(α). A7p-model fit provided a quantitative measure of multifractality and intermittency, to be compared with8standard indicators: the width of the multifractal spectrum, the peak of the kurtosis, and its scaling9exponent. Results show a clear transition and sharp differences in the intermittency properties for the two regions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetos%20heath" title="magnetos heath">magnetos heath</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=turbulence" title=" turbulence"> turbulence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multifractal" title=" multifractal"> multifractal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=instabilities" title=" instabilities"> instabilities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143455/magnetic-fluctuations-in-the-terrestrial-magnetosheath" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143455.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">181</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">138</span> Model Based Development of a Processing Map for Friction Stir Welding of AA7075</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elizabeth%20Hoyos">Elizabeth Hoyos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hern%C3%A1n%20Alvarez"> Hernán Alvarez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Lopez"> Diana Lopez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yesid%20Montoya"> Yesid Montoya</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main goal of this research relates to the modeling of FSW from a different or unusual perspective coming from mechanical engineering, particularly looking for a way to establish process windows by assessing soundness of the joints as a priority and with the added advantage of lower computational time. This paper presents the use of a previously developed model applied to specific aspects of soundness evaluation of AA7075 FSW welds. EMSO software (Environment for Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization) was used for simulation and an adapted CNC machine was used for actual welding. This model based approach showed good agreement with the experimental data, from which it is possible to set a window of operation for commercial aluminum alloy AA7075, all with low computational costs and employing simple quality indicators that can be used by non-specialized users in process modeling. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aluminum%20AA7075" title="aluminum AA7075">aluminum AA7075</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=friction%20stir%20welding" title=" friction stir welding"> friction stir welding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phenomenological%20based%20semiphysical%20model" title=" phenomenological based semiphysical model"> phenomenological based semiphysical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=processing%20map" title=" processing map"> processing map</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43761/model-based-development-of-a-processing-map-for-friction-stir-welding-of-aa7075" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43761.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">260</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">137</span> Alwadei Syndrome - A Genetic Cause Of Intellectual Disability</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mafalda%20Moreira">Mafalda Moreira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Alba"> Diana Alba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=In%C3%AAs%20Paiva%20Ferreira"> Inês Paiva Ferreira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rita%20Calejo"> Rita Calejo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Rita%20Soares"> Ana Rita Soares</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leonilde%20Machado"> Leonilde Machado</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Intellectual disability (ID) is characterized by deficits in intellectualfunctioningassociatedwithalterations in the adaptive behaviour, whose onset is inthedevelopmentalperiod. Itaffects 3% of the population, ofwhich 10% have a geneticaetiology. One of those causes isAlwadeiSyndrome, with 3 cases describedworldwide. It results from a homozygous nonsense mutation in theRUSC2 gene andisassociatedwithintellectualdisabilityanddysmorphic facialfeatures. Theauthorsreportthe case of a 5-year-old-boy, born to a healthymotherafter a full-termuneventfulpregnancy, thatwasreferred to Neurodevelopmentalconsultationdue toglobal developmentaldelay. Familyhistoryrevealedlearningdifficulties in the paternal brotherhood. Milddismorphicfeatureswereevidentsuch as darkinfraorbitalregion, low-set ears, beakednose, retrognathism, high-archedpalateandjointhyperlaxity.
