<span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>and Zedekiah<MH6667> king<MH4428> of Judah<MH3063> will not escape<MH4422> from the hand<MH3027> of the Chaldeans<MH3778>, but he will certainly<MH5414> be handed<MH5414, 3027> over<MH5414> to the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, and he will speak<MH1696> with him <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>face<MH6310> to face<MH6310> and see<MH7200> him eye<MH5869> to eye<MH5869>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Then he will take<MH1980> Zedekiah<MH6667> to Babylon<MH894>, and he will be there<MH8033> until<MH5704> I visit<MH6485> him,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. “If<MH3588> you fight<MH3898a> against<MH854> the Chaldeans<MH3778>, you will not succeed<MH6743b>”’?” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And Jeremiah<MH3414> said<MH559>, “The word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> came<MH1961> to me, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>‘Behold<MH2009>, Hanamel<MH2601> the son<MH1121> of Shallum<MH7967> your uncle<MH1730> is coming<MH935> to you, saying<MH559>, “Buy<MH7069> for yourself my field<MH7704> which<MH834> is at Anathoth<MH6068>, for you have the right<MH4941> of redemption<MH1353> to buy<MH7069> <i>it.</i>”’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Then my uncle’s<MH1730> son<MH1121> Hanamel<MH2601> came<MH935> to me in the courtyard<MH2691a> of the guard<MH4307> in accordance with the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> and said<MH559> to me, ‘Buy<MH7069> my field<MH7704>, please<MH4994>, that is at Anathoth<MH6068>, which<MH834> is in the land<MH776> of Benjamin<MH1144>; for you have the right<MH4941> of possession<MH3425> and the redemption<MH1353> is yours; buy<MH7069> <i>it</i> for yourself.’ Then I knew<MH3045> that this<MH1931> was the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>“So I bought<MH7069> the field<MH7704> which<MH834> was in Anathoth<MH6068> from Hanamel<MH2601> my uncle’s<MH1730> son<MH1121>, and I weighed<MH8254> out<MH8254> the silver<MH3701> for him, seventeen<MH7651, 6235> shekels<MH8255> of silver<MH3701>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>signed<MH3789> and sealed<MH2856> the deed<MH5612>, and called<MH5749b> in<MH5749b> witnesses<MH5707>, and weighed<MH8254> out<MH8254> the silver<MH3701> on the scales<MH3976>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Then I took<MH3947> the deeds<MH5612> of purchase<MH4736>, both the sealed<MH2856> <i>copy containing</i> the terms<MH4687> and conditions<MH2706> and the open<MH1540> <i>copy;</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>and I gave<MH5414> the deed<MH5612> of purchase<MH4736> to Baruch<MH1263> the son<MH1121> of Neriah<MH5374>, the son<MH1121> of Mahseiah<MH4271>, in the sight<MH5869> of Hanamel<MH2601> my uncle’s<MH1730> <i>son</i> and in the sight<MH5869> of the witnesses<MH5707> who signed<MH3789> the deed<MH5612> of purchase<MH4736>, in the sight<MH5869> of all<MH3605> the Jews<MH3064> who were sitting<MH3427> in the courtyard<MH2691a> of the guard<MH4307>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And I commanded<MH6680> Baruch<MH1263> in their sight<MH5869>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478> says<MH559>: “Take<MH3947> these<MH428> deeds<MH5612>, this<MH2088> sealed<MH2856> deed<MH5612> of purchase<MH4736> and this<MH2088> open<MH1540> deed<MH5612>, and put<MH5414> them in an earthenware<MH2789> jar<MH3627>, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> they may <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>last<MH5975> a long<MH7227a> time<MH3117>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478> says<MH559>: “Houses<MH1004> and fields<MH7704> and vineyards<MH3754> will again<MH5750> be purchased<MH7069> in this<MH2088> land<MH776>.”’ <p class="hdg">Jeremiah Prays and God Explains</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>“After<MH310> giving<MH5414> the deed<MH5612> of purchase<MH4736> to Baruch<MH1263> the son<MH1121> of Neriah<MH5374>, I prayed<MH6419> to the LORD<MH3068>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>‘Oh<MH162>, Lord<MH136> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>GOD<MH3068>! Behold<MH2009>, You Yourself<MH859> have made<MH6213a> the heavens<MH8064> and the earth<MH776> by Your great<MH1419> power<MH3581b> and by Your outstretched<MH5186> arm<MH2220>! Nothing<MH3808, 3605, 1697> is<MH6381> too<MH4480> difficult<MH6381> for You, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>who shows<MH6213a> mercy<MH2617a> to thousands<MH505>, but repays<MH7999a> the wrongdoing<MH5771> of fathers<MH1> into the laps<MH2436> of their children<MH1121> after<MH310> them, great<MH1419> and mighty<MH1368> God<MH410>. The LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> is His name<MH8034>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>great<MH1419> in counsel<MH6098> and mighty<MH7227a> in deed<MH5950>, whose<MH834> eyes<MH5869> are open<MH6491b> to all<MH3605> the ways<MH1870> of the sons<MH1121> of mankind<MH120>, giving<MH5414> to everyone<MH376> according to his ways<MH1870> and according to the fruit<MH6529> of his deeds<MH4611>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>who<MH834> has accomplished<MH7760> signs<MH226> and wonders<MH4159> in the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, <i>and</i> even to this<MH2088> day<MH3117> both in Israel<MH3478> and among mankind<MH120>; and You have made<MH6213a> a name<MH8034> for Yourself, as at this<MH2088> day<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>You brought<MH3318> Your people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478> out<MH3318> of the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> with signs<MH226> and with wonders<MH4159>, and with a strong<MH2389> hand<MH3027> and an outstretched<MH5186> arm<MH2220>, and with great<MH1419> terror<MH4172>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>and You gave<MH5414> them this<MH2088> land<MH776>, which<MH834> You swore<MH7650> to their forefathers<MH1> to give<MH5414> them, a land<MH776> flowing<MH2100> with milk<MH2461> and honey<MH1706>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>They came<MH935> in<MH935> and took<MH3423> possession<MH3423> of it, but they did not obey<MH8085> Your voice<MH6963> or walk<MH1980> in Your Law<MH8451>; they did not do<MH6213a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>anything<MH3605> that You commanded<MH6680> them to do<MH6213a>; therefore You have made all<MH3605> this<MH2088> disaster<MH7463a> happen<MH7122> to them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Behold<MH2009>, the assault<MH5550> ramps<MH5550> have reached<MH935> the city<MH5892b> to take<MH3920> it; and the city<MH5892b> has been handed<MH5414, 3027> over<MH5414> to the Chaldeans<MH3778> who fight<MH3898a> against<MH5921> it, because<MH4480, 6440> of the sword<MH2719>, the famine<MH7458>, and the plague<MH1698>; and what<MH834> You have spoken<MH1696> has come<MH1961> to<MH1961> pass<MH1961>; and behold<MH2009>, You see<MH7200> <i>it.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Yet You have said<MH559> to me, Lord<MH136> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>GOD<MH3068>, “Buy<MH7069> for yourself the field<MH7704> with money<MH3701> and call<MH5749b> in<MH5749b> witnesses<MH5707>”—although the city<MH5892b> has been handed<MH5414, 3027> over<MH5414> to the Chaldeans<MH3778>.’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Then the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> came<MH1961> to Jeremiah<MH3414>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>“Behold<MH2009>, I am the LORD<MH3068>, the God<MH430> of all<MH3605> flesh<MH1320>; is<MH6381> anything<MH3605, 1697> too<MH4480> difficult<MH6381> for Me?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651> this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559>: “Behold<MH2009>, I am going to hand<MH5414, 3027> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> over<MH5414> to the Chaldeans<MH3778> and to Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, and he will take<MH3920> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>And the Chaldeans<MH3778> who are fighting<MH3898a> against<MH5921> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> will enter<MH935> and set<MH3341> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> on fire<MH784> and burn<MH8313> it, with the houses<MH1004> where<MH834> <i>people</i> have offered<MH6999> incense<MH6999> to Baal<MH1168a> on their roofs<MH1406> and poured<MH5258a> out<MH5258a> drink<MH5262a> offerings<MH5262a> to other<MH312> gods<MH430>, to provoke<MH3707> Me to<MH3707> anger<MH3707>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>For the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> and the sons<MH1121> of Judah<MH3063> have been doing<MH6213a> only<MH389> evil<MH7451a> in My sight<MH5869> since<MH4480> their youth<MH5272a>; for the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> have been only<MH389> provoking<MH3707> Me to<MH3707> anger<MH3707> by the work<MH4639> of their hands<MH3027>,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>“Indeed<MH3588> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> has been<MH1961> to Me a provocation<MH5921> of My anger<MH639> and My wrath<MH2534> since<MH4480> the day<MH3117> that they built<MH1129> it, even to this<MH2088> day<MH3117>, so that it should be removed<MH5493> from My sight<MH6440>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>because<MH5921> of all<MH3605> the evil<MH7463a> of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> and the sons<MH1121> of Judah<MH3063> which<MH834> they have done<MH6213a> to provoke<MH3707> Me to<MH3707> anger<MH3707>—they, their kings<MH4428>, their leaders<MH8269>, their priests<MH3548>, their prophets<MH5030>, the men<MH376> of Judah<MH3063>, and the inhabitants<MH3427> of Jerusalem<MH3389>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>They have turned<MH6437> <i>their</i> back<MH6203> to Me and not <i>their</i> face<MH6440>; though <i>I</i> taught<MH3925> them, teaching<MH3925> again<MH7925> and again<MH3925>, they would not listen<MH8085> to accept<MH3947> discipline<MH4148>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>But they put<MH7760> their detestable<MH8251> things<MH8251> in the house<MH1004> which<MH834> is called<MH7121> by My name<MH8034>, to defile<MH2930> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>They built<MH1129> the high<MH1116> places<MH1116> of Baal<MH1168a> that are in the Valley<MH1516> of Ben-hinnom<MH1121, 2011> to make their sons<MH1121> and their daughters<MH1323> pass<MH5674a> through<MH5674a> <i>the fire</i> to Molech<MH4432>, which<MH834> I had not commanded<MH6680> them, nor<MH3808> had it <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>entered<MH5927> My mind<MH3820> that they should do<MH6213a> this<MH2088> abomination<MH8441>, to mislead Judah<MH3063> to sin<MH2398>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>“Now<MH6258> therefore<MH3651> the LORD<MH3068> God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478> says<MH559> the following<MH3541> concerning<MH413> this<MH2088> city<MH5892b> of which<MH834> you say<MH559>, ‘It has been handed<MH5414, 3027> over<MH5414> to the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> by sword<MH2719>, by famine<MH7458>, and by plague<MH1698>’: <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>Behold<MH2009>, I am going to gather<MH6908> them out of all<MH3605> the lands<MH776> to which<MH834> I have driven<MH5080> them in My anger<MH639>, in My wrath<MH2534>, and in great<MH1419> indignation<MH7110a>; and I will bring<MH7725> them back<MH7725> to this<MH2088> place<MH4725> and have them live<MH3427> in safety<MH983>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>They shall be My people<MH5971a>, and I will be their God<MH430>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>and I will give<MH5414> them one<MH259> heart<MH3820> and one<MH259> way<MH1870>, so that they will fear<MH3372a> Me always<MH3605, 3117>, for their own good<MH2896b> and for <i>the good of</i> their children<MH1121> after<MH310> them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>I will make<MH3772> an everlasting<MH5769> covenant<MH1285> with them that I will not turn<MH7725> away<MH7725> from them, to do<MH3190> them good<MH3190>; and I will put<MH5414> the fear<MH3374> of Me in their hearts<MH3824>, so that they will not turn<MH5493> away<MH5493> from Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>I will rejoice<MH7797> over<MH5921> them to do<MH3190> them good<MH3190> and will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>faithfully<MH571> plant<MH5193> them in this<MH2088> land<MH776> with all<MH3605> My heart<MH3820> and all<MH3605> My soul<MH5315>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>For this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559>: ‘Just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> I brought<MH935> all<MH3605> this<MH2088> great<MH1419> disaster<MH7463a> on this<MH2088> people<MH5971a>, so<MH3651> I am going to bring<MH935> on them all<MH3605> the good<MH2899b> that I am promising<MH1696> them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>And fields<MH7704> will be purchased<MH7069> in this<MH2088> land<MH776> of which<MH834> you say<MH559>, “It is a desolation<MH8077>, without<MH369> man<MH120> or animal<MH929>; it has been handed<MH5414, 3027> over<MH5414> to the Chaldeans<MH3778>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/32-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span><i>People</i> will buy<MH7069> fields<MH7704> for money<MH3701>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>sign<MH3789> and seal<MH2856> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>deeds<MH5612>, and call<MH5749b> in<MH5749b> witnesses<MH5707> in the land<MH776> of Benjamin<MH1144>, in the areas<MH5439> surrounding<MH5439> Jerusalem<MH3389>, in the cities<MH5892b> of Judah<MH3063>, in the cities<MH5892b> of the hill<MH2022> country<MH2022>, in the cities<MH5892b> of the lowland<MH8219>, and in the cities<MH5892b> of the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>Negev<MH5045>;
