We analyze the effects of the Jordanian situation through the following indicators: international aid, gross domestic product, remittances, and unemployment. A correlation analysis has been used to identify the main connections of these parameters with the reception of refugees. Although the economic effects of Syrian refugees in Jordan are uncertain, it involves an important challenge in the development of migration policies. Jordan has a special economic situation and limited capacities, but the country has provided humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees. In this case, the support of the international community is of particular importance, taking an important role in the negotiation of international agreements on refugees. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=correlation%20analysis" title="correlation analysis">correlation analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=economic%20implications" title=" economic implications"> economic implications</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=migration" title=" migration"> migration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=refugees" title=" refugees"> refugees</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135127/economic-implications-of-the-arrival-of-syrian-refugees-in-jordan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135127.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">252</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">312</span> Modeling and Simulation of a Cycloconverter with a Bond Graph Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gerardo%20Ayala-Jaimes">Gerardo Ayala-Jaimes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gilberto%20Gonzalez-Avalos"> Gilberto Gonzalez-Avalos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Allen%20A.%20Castillo"> Allen A. Cycloconverters, used in motor control, demonstrate the viability of graphical modeling. The use of Bonds is proposed to model the hybrid interaction of the system, and the results are displayed through simulations using 20Sim and Multisim software. The motivation behind developing these models with a graphical approach is to design and build low-cost energy converters, thereby making the main contribution of this document the modeling and simulation of a single-phase cycloconverter. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bond%20graph" title="bond graph">bond graph</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20system" title=" hybrid system"> hybrid system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectifier" title=" rectifier"> rectifier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cycloconverter" title=" cycloconverter"> cycloconverter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modelling" title=" modelling"> modelling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/187321/modeling-and-simulation-of-a-cycloconverter-with-a-bond-graph-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/187321.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">38</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">311</span> In Silico Analysis of Small Heat Shock Protein Gene Family by RNA-Seq during Tomato Fruit Ripening</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Debora%20P.%20Arce">Debora P. Fruit maturation and oxidative stress can induce sHSP synthesis both in Arabidopsis and tomato plants. RNA-Seq technology is becoming widely used in various transcriptomics studies; however, analyzing and interpreting the RNA-Seq data face serious challenges. In the present work, we de novo assembled the Solanum lycopersicum transcriptome for three different maturation stages (mature green, breaker and red ripe). Differential gene expression analysis was carried out during tomato fruit development. We identified 12 sHSPs differentially expressed that might be involved in breaker and red ripe fruit maturation. Interestingly, these sHSPs have different subcellular localization and suggest a complex regulation of the fruit maturation network process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sHSPs" title="sHSPs">sHSPs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maturation" title=" maturation"> maturation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tomato" title=" tomato"> tomato</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RNA-Seq" title=" RNA-Seq"> RNA-Seq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=assembly" title=" assembly"> assembly</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14132/in-silico-analysis-of-small-heat-shock-protein-gene-family-by-rna-seq-during-tomato-fruit-ripening" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14132.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">480</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">310</span> Implementation of a Low-Cost Instrumentation for an Open Cycle Wind Tunnel to Evaluate Pressure Coefficient </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cristian%20P.%20Topa">Cristian P. However, the experiment instrumentation usually is expensive, and hence, each test implies a incremented in design cost. The aim of this work is to select and implement a low-cost static pressure data acquisition system for a NACA 2412 airfoil in an open cycle wind tunnel. This work compares wind tunnel experiment with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation and parametric analysis. The experiment was evaluated at Reynolds of 1.65 <em>e5</em>, with increasing angles from -5&deg; to 15&deg;. The comparison between the approaches show good enough accuracy, between the experiment and CFD, additional parametric analysis results differ widely from the other methods, which complies with the lack of accuracy of the lateral approach due its simplicity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20tunnel" title="wind tunnel">wind tunnel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20cost%20instrumentation" title=" low cost instrumentation"> low cost instrumentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=experimental%20testing" title=" experimental testing"> experimental testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CFD%20simulation" title=" CFD simulation"> CFD simulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88363/implementation-of-a-low-cost-instrumentation-for-an-open-cycle-wind-tunnel-to-evaluate-pressure-coefficient" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88363.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">309</span> Dynamic Thermal Modelling of a PEMFC-Type Fuel Cell</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Avila%20Lopez">Marco Avila Lopez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hasnae%20Ait-Douchi"> Hasnae Ait-Douchi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Silvia%20De%20Los%20Santos"> Silvia De Los Santos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Badr%20Eddine%20Lebrouhi"> Badr Eddine Lebrouhi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pamela%20Ram%C3%ADrez%20Vidal"> Pamela Ramírez Vidal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the context of the energy transition, fuel cell technology has emerged as a solution for harnessing hydrogen energy and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. An in-depth study was conducted on a PEMFC-type fuel cell, with an initiation of an analysis of its operational principles and constituent components. Subsequently, the modelling of the fuel cell was undertaken using the Python programming language, encompassing both steady-state and transient regimes. In the case of the steady-state regime, the physical and electrochemical phenomena occurring within the fuel cell were modelled, with the assumption of uniform temperature throughout all cell compartments. Parametric identification was carried out, resulting in a remarkable mean error of only 1.62% when the model results were compared to experimental data documented in the literature. The dynamic model that was developed enabled the scrutiny of the fuel cell's response in terms of temperature and voltage under varying current conditions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuel%20cell" title="fuel cell">fuel cell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modelling" title=" modelling"> modelling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic" title=" dynamic"> dynamic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20model" title=" thermal model"> thermal model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PEMFC" title=" PEMFC"> PEMFC</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176646/dynamic-thermal-modelling-of-a-pemfc-type-fuel-cell" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176646.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">308</span> Social Support in Adherence to Therapy in Bioenterics Intragastric Balloon</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariela%20Gonz%C3%A1lez">Mariela González</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoraide%20Lugli"> Zoraide Lugli </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Objective: to determine the relationship between perceived social support and adherence to therapy in patients who have been placed BioEnteric intragastric balloon (BIB). It has been shown that hydrogen sulfide (H2S), inhibits the fibrillation of lysozyme through the formation of trisulfide (S-S-S) bonds. However, the overall mechanism remains elusive. Here, the concentration dependence of H2S effect was investigated using Atomic force microscopy (AFM), non-resonance Raman spectroscopy, Deep-UV Raman spectroscopy and circular dichroism (CD). It was found that small spherical aggregates with trisulfide bonds and a unique secondary structure were formed instead of amyloid fibrils when adding concentrations of 25 mM and 50 mM of H2S. This could indicate that H2S might serve as a protecting agent for the protein. However, further characterization of these aggregates and their trisulfide bonds is needed to fully unravel the function H2S has on protein fibrillation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=amyloid%20fibrils" title="amyloid fibrils">amyloid fibrils</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrogen%20sulfide" title=" hydrogen sulfide"> hydrogen sulfide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protein%20folding" title=" protein folding"> protein folding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=raman%20spectroscopy" title=" raman spectroscopy"> raman spectroscopy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86031/towards-the-inhibition-mechanism-of-lysozyme-fibrillation-by-hydrogen-sulfide" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86031.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">216</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">306</span> Role of GM1 in the Interaction between Amyloid Prefibrillar Oligomers of Salmon Calcitonin and Model Membranes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cristiano%20Giordani">Cristiano Giordani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Diociaiuti"> Marco Diociaiuti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cecilia%20Bombelli"> Cecilia Bombelli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Zanetti-Polzi"> Laura Zanetti-Polzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcello%20Belfiore"> Marcello Belfiore</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raoul%20Fioravanti"> Raoul Fioravanti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gianfranco%20Macchia"> Gianfranco Macchia</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We investigated induced functional effects by evaluating Ca2+-influx in liposomes and cell viability in HT22-DIFF neurons. Only solutions rich in unstructured Prefibrillar-Oligomers (PFOs) were able, in the presence of Monosialoganglioside-GM1 (GM1), to induce Ca2+-influx and were also neurotoxic, suggesting a correlation between the two phenomena. Thus, in the presence of GM1, we investigated the protein conformation and liposome modification due to the interaction. Circular Dichroism showed that GM1 fostered the formation of β-structures and Energy Filtered-Transmission Electron Microscopy that PFOs formed “amyloid-channels” as reported for Aβ. We speculate that electrostatic forces occurring between the positive PFOs and negative GM1 drive the initial binding, while the hydrophobic profile of the flexible PFO is responsible for the subsequent pore formation. Conversely, the rigid β-structured mature/fibers (MFs) and proto-fibers (PFs) were unable to induce membrane damage and Ca2+- influx. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=amyloid%20proteins" title="amyloid proteins">amyloid proteins</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neurotoxicity" title=" neurotoxicity"> neurotoxicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lipid-rafts" title=" lipid-rafts"> lipid-rafts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GM1" title=" GM1"> GM1</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118119/role-of-gm1-in-the-interaction-between-amyloid-prefibrillar-oligomers-of-salmon-calcitonin-and-model-membranes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118119.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">305</span> Preparation on Sentimental Analysis on Social Media Comments with Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Gated Recurrent Unit and Model Glove in Portuguese</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leonardo%20Alfredo%20Mendoza">Leonardo Alfredo Mendoza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cristian%20Munoz"> Cristian Munoz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Aurelio%20Pacheco"> Marco Aurelio Pacheco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manoela%20Kohler"> Manoela Kohler</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Evelyn%20%20Batista"> Evelyn Batista</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rodrigo%20Moura"> Rodrigo Moura</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques are increasingly more powerful to be able to interpret the feelings and reactions of a person to a product or service. This has triggered the urge to use clean energy not only to satisfy energy needs and fulfill the required consumption but also to decrease the danger of climatic changes due to harmful emissions. Many countries have already started creating energetic communities based on renewable energy sources. The first step to understanding energy needs in any place is to perfectly know the consumption. In this work, we aim to estimate electricity consumption for a municipality that makes up part of a rural area located in southern Italy using forecast models that allow for the estimation of electricity consumption for the next ten years, and we then apply the same model to the province where the municipality is located and estimate the future consumption for the same period to examine whether it is possible to start from the municipality level to reach the province level when creating energy communities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ARIMA" title="ARIMA">ARIMA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electricity%20consumption" title=" electricity consumption"> electricity consumption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=forecasting%20models" title=" forecasting models"> forecasting models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time%20series" title=" time series"> time series</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159126/energy-communities-from-municipality-level-to-province-level-a-comparison-using-autoregressive-integrated-moving-average-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159126.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">174</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">303</span> Towards a Model of Support in the Areas of Services of Educational Assistance and Mentoring in Middle Education in Mexico</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Margarita%20Zavala">Margarita Zavala</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Chavira"> Gabriel Chavira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Gonz%C3%A1lez"> José González</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jorge%20Orozco"> Jorge Orozco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Julio%20Rol%C3%B3n"> Julio Rolón</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roberto%20Pichardo"> Roberto Pichardo </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Adolescence is a neuralgic stage in the formation of every human being, generally this stage is when the middle school level is studied. PdM is a prominent strategy consisting of all the operational techniques and actions required to ensure machine availability and to prevent a machine-down failure. One of the challenges with PdM approach is to design and develop of an embedded smart system to enable the health status of the machine. The proposed approach allows screening simultaneously multiple connected machines, thus providing real-time monitoring that can be adopted with maintenance management. This is achieved by applying temporal feature engineering techniques and training an ensemble of classification algorithms to predict Remaining Useful Lifetime of woodworking machines. The effectiveness of the methodology is demonstrated by testing an independent sample of additional woodworking machines without presenting machine down event. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=predictive%20maintenance" title="predictive maintenance">predictive maintenance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=connected%20machines" title=" connected machines"> connected machines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title=" artificial intelligence"> artificial intelligence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98461/predicting-machine-down-of-woodworking-industrial-machines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98461.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">226</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">301</span> Calibration of Site Effect Parameters in the GMPM BSSA 14 for the Region of Spain</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gonzalez%20Carlos">Gonzalez Carlos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martinez%20Fransisco"> Martinez Fransisco</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The creation of a seismic prediction model that considers all the regional variations and perfectly adjusts its results to the response spectra is very complicated. To achieve statistically acceptable results, it is necessary to process a sufficiently robust data set, and even if high efficiencies are achieved, this model will only work properly in this region. However, when using it in other regions, differences are found due to different parameters that have not been calibrated to other regions, such as the site effect. The fact that impedance contrasts, as well as other factors belonging to the site, have a great influence on the local response is well known, which is why this work, using the residual method, is intended to establish a regional calibration of the corresponding parameters site effect for the Spain region in the global GMPM BSSA 14. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GMPM" title="GMPM">GMPM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seismic%20prediction%20equations" title=" seismic prediction equations"> seismic prediction equations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residual%20method" title=" residual method"> residual method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=response%20spectra" title=" response spectra"> response spectra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impedance%20contrast" title=" impedance contrast"> impedance contrast</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151753/calibration-of-site-effect-parameters-in-the-gmpm-bssa-14-for-the-region-of-spain" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151753.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">84</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">300</span> Stochastic Modeling of Secretion Dynamics in Inner Hair Cells of the Auditory Pathway</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jessica%20A.%20Soto-Bear">Jessica A. Otoferlin is the calcium sensor in the IHC and its activity has been related to many auditory disorders. In order to simulate secretion dynamics occurring in the IHC in a few milliseconds timescale and with high spatial resolution, we proposed an active-zone model solved with Monte Carlo algorithms. We included models for calcium buffered diffusion, calcium-binding schemes for vesicle fusion, and L-type voltage-gated calcium channels. Our results indicate that calcium influx and calcium binding is managing IHC secretion as a function of voltage depolarization, which in turn mean that IHC response depends on sound intensity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inner%20hair%20cells" title="inner hair cells">inner hair cells</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monte%20Carlo%20algorithm" title=" Monte Carlo algorithm"> Monte Carlo algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Otoferlin" title=" Otoferlin"> Otoferlin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=secretion" title=" secretion"> secretion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96568/stochastic-modeling-of-secretion-dynamics-in-inner-hair-cells-of-the-auditory-pathway" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96568.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">221</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">299</span> Software Obsolescence Drivers in Aerospace: An Industry Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ra%C3%BAl%20Gonz%C3%A1lez%20Mu%C3%B1oz">Raúl González Muñoz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Essam%20Shehab"> Essam Shehab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martin%20Weinitzke"> Martin Weinitzke</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chris%20Fowler"> Chris Fowler</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paul%20Baguley"> Paul Baguley</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Software applications have become crucial for the aerospace industry, providing a wide range of functionalities and capabilities. However, due to the considerable time difference between aircraft and software life cycles, obsolescence has turned into a major challenge for industry in last decades. This paper aims to provide a view on the different causes of software obsolescence within aerospace industry, as well as a perception on the importance of each of them. The key research question addressed is what drives software obsolescence in the aerospace industry, managing large software application portfolios. This question has been addressed by conducting firstly an in depth review of current literature and secondly by arranging an industry workshop with professionals from aerospace and consulting companies. The result is a set of drivers of software obsolescence, distributed among three different environments and several domains. By incorporating monitoring methodologies to assess those software obsolescence drivers, benefits in maintenance efforts and operations disruption avoidance are expected. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerospace%20industry" title="aerospace industry">aerospace industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=obsolescence%20drivers" title=" obsolescence drivers"> obsolescence drivers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=software%20lifecycle" title=" software lifecycle"> software lifecycle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=software%20obsolescence" title=" software obsolescence"> software obsolescence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72049/software-obsolescence-drivers-in-aerospace-an-industry-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72049.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">411</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">298</span> Towards a Model of Support in the Areas of Services of Educational Assistance and Tutoring in Middle Education in Mexico</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Margarita%20Zavala">Margarita Zavala</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Julio%20Rol%C3%B3n"> Julio Rolón</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Chavira"> Gabriel Chavira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Gonz%C3%A1lez"> José González</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jorge%20Orozco"> Jorge Orozco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roberto%20Pichardo"> Roberto Pichardo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Adolescence is a neuralgic stage in the formation of every human being, generally at this stage is when the middle school level is studied. The present work introduces the wobbled laser beam welding as a robust welding strategy for improving macro-to micro-fabrication process, e.g., the laser processing for gap-bridging and packaging industry. The typical requisites and relevant equipment for the development of a wobbled laser processing unit are addressed, including a suitable laser source, light delivery system, optics, proper beam deflection system and the design geometry. In addition, experiments have been carried out on titanium plate to compare the results of wobbled laser welding with conventional pulsed laser welding. As compared to the pulsed laser welding, the wobbled laser welding offers a much greater fusion area (i.e. additional molten material) while minimizing the HAZ and provides a better confinement of the material microstructural changes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wobbled%20laser%20beam%20welding" title="wobbled laser beam welding">wobbled laser beam welding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wobbling%20function" title=" wobbling function"> wobbling function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=beam%20oscillation" title=" beam oscillation"> beam oscillation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micro%20welding" title=" micro welding"> micro welding</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56603/wobbled-laser-beam-welding-for-macro-to-micro-fabrication-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56603.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">328</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">296</span> Dehydration of Residues from WTP for Application in Building Materials and Reuse of Water from the Waste Treatment: A Feasible Solution to Complete Treatment Systems </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Correa">Marco Correa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Flavio%20Araujo"> Flavio Araujo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paulo%20Scalize"> Paulo Scalize</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Antonio%20Albuquerque"> Antonio Albuquerque</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The increasing reduction of the volumes of surface water sources which supply most municipalities, as well as the continued rise of demand for treated water, combined with the disposal of effluents from washing of decanters and filters of the water treatment plants, generates a continuous search for correct environmentally solutions to these problems. The effluents generated by the water treatment industry need to be suitably processed for return to the environment or re-use. This article shows an alternative for the dehydration of sludge from the water treatment plants (WTP) and eventual disposal of sludge drained. Using the simple design methodology, we present a case study for a drainage in tanks geotextile, full-scale, which involve five sludge drainage tanks from WTP of the Rio Verde City. The sludge will be used to production of building materials. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=re-use" title="re-use">re-use</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residue" title=" residue"> residue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainable" title=" sustainable"> sustainable</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20treatment%20plants" title=" water treatment plants"> water treatment plants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sludge" title=" sludge"> sludge</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22217/dehydration-of-residues-from-wtp-for-application-in-building-materials-and-reuse-of-water-from-the-waste-treatment-a-feasible-solution-to-complete-treatment-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22217.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">490</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">295</span> Improvement of Protein Extraction From Shrimp by Product Used for Electrospinning by Applying Emerging Technologies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mario%20P%C3%A9rez-Won">Mario Pérez-Won</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vilbett%20Briones%20L."> Vilbett Briones L.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guido%20Trautmann"> Guido Trautmann</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mar%C3%ADa%20Jos%C3%A9%20Bugue%C3%B1o"> María José Bugueño</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gipsy%20Tabilo-Munizaga"> Gipsy Tabilo-Munizaga</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luis%20Gonzalez-Cavieres"> Luis Gonzalez-Cavieres</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The fishing industry generates a significant amount of shrimp byproducts, which often result in environmental contamination. Protein extraction from these by-products is a potential solution to minimize waste and revalue the by-products. To improve the extraction of proteins (by chemical method) from shrimp (Pleuroncodes monodon) by-products, the emerging technologies of ohmic heating (OH), microwaves (MW) and pulsed electric fields (PEF) were used. The results show that microwaves, electrical pulses, and ohmic heating improved performance by 28.19%, 19.25%, and 3.65%, respectively. Furthermore, conformational changes were studied by DSC and FTIR. Subsequently, the use of these proteins in electrospinning technology was evaluated. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the application of emerging technologies, can significantly improve the extraction yield of proteins from shrimp by-products. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrospinning" title="electrospinning">electrospinning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emerging%20technologies" title=" emerging technologies"> emerging technologies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=improving%20extraction" title=" improving extraction"> improving extraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shrimp%20by-products" title=" shrimp by-products"> shrimp by-products</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170663/improvement-of-protein-extraction-from-shrimp-by-product-used-for-electrospinning-by-applying-emerging-technologies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170663.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">77</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">294</span> Sport Facilities and Social Change: European Funds as an Opportunity for Urban Regeneration</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lorenzo%20Maiorino">Lorenzo Maiorino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fabio%20Fortuna"> Fabio Fortuna</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Giovanni%20Panebianco"> Giovanni Panebianco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Sanzari"> Marco Sanzari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriella%20Arcese"> Gabriella Arcese</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Valerio%20Maria%20Paolozzi"> Valerio Maria Paolozzi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> It is well known that sport is a factor of social cohesion and the breaking down of barriers between people. From this point of view, the aim is to demonstrate how, through the (re)generation of sustainable structures, it is possible to give life to a new social, cultural, and economic pathway, where possible, in peripheral areas with problems of abandonment and degradation. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to study realities such as European programs and funds and to highlight the ways in which planning can be used to respond to critical issues such as urban decay, abandonment, and the mitigation of social differences. For this reason, the analysis will be carried out through the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) package, the Next Generation EU, the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the Cohesion Fund, the European Social Fund, and other managed funds. The procedure will rely on sources and data of unquestionable origin, and the relation to the object of study in question will be highlighted. The project lends itself to be ambitious and exploring a further aspect of the sports theme, which, as we know, is one of the foundations for a healthy society. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sport" title="sport">sport</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20inclusion" title=" social inclusion"> social inclusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20regeneration" title=" urban regeneration"> urban regeneration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sports%20facilities" title=" sports facilities"> sports facilities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=European%20funds" title=" European funds"> European funds</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142426/sport-facilities-and-social-change-european-funds-as-an-opportunity-for-urban-regeneration" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142426.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">225</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">293</span> Understanding of the Impact of Technology in Collaborative Programming for Children</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nadia%20Selene%20Molina-Moreno">Nadia Selene Molina-Moreno</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maria%20Susana%20Avila-Garcia"> Maria Susana Avila-Garcia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Bianchetti"> Marco Bianchetti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcelina%20Pantoja-Flores"> Marcelina Pantoja-Flores</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Visual Programming Tools available are a great tool for introducing children to programming and to develop a skill set for algorithmic thinking. On the other hand, collaborative learning and pair programming within the context of programming activities, has demonstrated to have social and learning benefits. However, some of the online tools available for programming for children are not designed to allow simultaneous and equitable participation of the team members since they allow only for a single control point. In this paper, a report the work conducted with children playing a user role is presented. A preliminary study to cull ideas, insights, and design considerations for a formal programming course for children aged 8-10 using collaborative learning as a pedagogical approach was conducted. Three setups were provided: 1) lo-fi prototype, 2) PC, 3) a 46' multi-touch single display groupware limited by the application to a single touch entry. Children were interviewed at the end of the sessions in order to know their opinions about teamwork and the different setups defined. Results are mixed regarding the setup, but they agree to like teamwork. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children" title="children">children</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collaborative%20programming" title=" collaborative programming"> collaborative programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=visual%20programming" title=" visual programming"> visual programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-touch%20tabletop" title=" multi-touch tabletop"> multi-touch tabletop</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lo-fi%20prototype" title=" lo-fi prototype"> lo-fi prototype</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71685/understanding-of-the-impact-of-technology-in-collaborative-programming-for-children" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71685.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">308</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">292</span> Mathematical Modelling of the Effect of Glucose on Pancreatic Alpha-Cell Activity </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karen%20K.%20Perez-Ramirez">Karen K. They release glucagon hormone when glucose level is low to stimulate gluconeogenesis from the liver. As other excitable cells, alpha cells generate Ca2+ and metabolic oscillations when they are stimulated. It is known that the glucose level can trigger or silence this activity although it is not clear how this occurs in normal and diabetic people. In this work, we propose an electric-metabolic mathematical model implemented in Matlab to study the effect of different glucose levels on the electrical response and Ca2+ oscillations of an alpha cell. Our results show that Ca2+ oscillations appear in opposite phase with metabolic oscillations in a window of glucose values. The model also predicts a direct relationship between the level of glucose and the intracellular adenine nucleotides showing a self-regulating pathway for the alpha cell. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ca2%2B%20oscillations" title="Ca2+ oscillations">Ca2+ oscillations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mathematical%20model" title=" mathematical model"> mathematical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metabolic%20oscillations" title=" metabolic oscillations"> metabolic oscillations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pancreatic%20alpha%20cell" title=" pancreatic alpha cell"> pancreatic alpha cell</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96002/mathematical-modelling-of-the-effect-of-glucose-on-pancreatic-alpha-cell-activity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96002.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">291</span> Microstructural and Magnetic Properties of Ni50Mn39Sn11 and Ni50Mn36Sn14 Heusler Alloys</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mst%20Nazmunnahar">Mst Nazmunnahar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Juan%20del%20Val"> Juan del Val</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alena%20Vimmrova"> Alena Vimmrova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Blanca%20Hernando"> Blanca Hernando</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Julian%20Gonz%C3%A1lez"> Julian González</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We report the microstructural and magnetic properties of Ni50Mn39Sn11 and Ni50Mn36Sn14 ribbon Heusler alloys. Experimental results were obtained by differential scanning calorymetry, X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometry techniques. The Ni-Mn-Sn system undergoes a martensitic structural transformation in a wide temperature range. For example, for Ni50Mn39Sn11 the start and finish temperatures of the martensitic and austenite phase transformation for ribbon alloy were Ms = 336K , Mf = 328K, As = 335K and Af = 343K whereas no structural transformation is observed for Ni50Mn36Sn14 alloys. Magnetic measurements show the typical ferromagnetic behavior with Curie temperature 207K at low applied field of 50 Oe. The complex behavior exhibited by these Heusler alloys should be ascribed to the strong coupling between magnetism and structure, being their magnetic behavior determined by the distance between Mn atoms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=as-cast%20ribbon" title="as-cast ribbon">as-cast ribbon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heusler%20alloys" title=" Heusler alloys"> Heusler alloys</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20properties" title=" magnetic properties"> magnetic properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20transformation" title=" structural transformation"> structural transformation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23193/microstructural-and-magnetic-properties-of-ni50mn39sn11-and-ni50mn36sn14-heusler-alloys" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23193.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">456</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">290</span> Analysis of Preferences in Decision Making in a Bilateral Negotiation Context: An Experimental Approach from Game Theory</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20V.%20Gonzalez">Laura V. The objective of this paper is to analyze the effect ‘amount of information’ and ‘number of options’, on the behavior of competitors under a bilateral negotiation context. For the above, it has been designed an experiment as a classroom game where they negotiate goods, under the condition that none of the players knows exactly the real value of the asset. The game is designed under the concept of zero-sum (non-cooperative game) and focuses on the fact that agents must anticipate the strategies of their opponent to improve their chances of winning in the negotiation. The empirical results show that, contrary to the traditional view of expected utility theory, players prefer to obtain low profits and losses, when faced with a higher expectation of losses, using sub-optimal strategies not in accordance with game theory. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bilateral%20negotiation" title="bilateral negotiation">bilateral negotiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=classroom%20game" title=" classroom game"> classroom game</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decision%20making" title=" decision making"> decision making</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=game%20theory" title=" game theory"> game theory</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87095/analysis-of-preferences-in-decision-making-in-a-bilateral-negotiation-context-an-experimental-approach-from-game-theory" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87095.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">263</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">289</span> Four Phase Methodology for Developing Secure Software</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlos%20Gonzalez-Flores">Carlos Gonzalez-Flores</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ernesto%20Li%C3%B1an-Garc%C3%ADa"> Ernesto Liñan-García</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A simple and robust approach for developing secure software. The proposed hybrid model can be used to classify four different increasing levels of hazard. The classification capability was compared with the flood hazard mapping River Basin Plans (PAI) designed by the Italian Institute for Environmental Research and Defence, ISPRA (Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale). The study area of Piemonte, an Italian region, has been considered without loss of generality. The frequency ratios may be used as a standalone block to model the flood hazard mapping. In particular, the technology promises flexible and controllable devices capable to perform parallelised experimentation at low cost. Currently, state of the art methods (e.g. optical sensors) allow the accurate monitoring of the microbioreactor operation. In addition, the laminar flow regime encountered in these devices allows more predictive fluid dynamics modelling, improving the control over the soluble, physical and mechanical environment of the cells. This work describes the development and characterisation of a novel microbioreactor cassette system (microbioreactor volume is 150 μL. The volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient (KLa) and mixing time have been characterised to be between 25 to 113 h-1 and 0.5 and 0.1 s, respectively. In addition, the Residence time distribution (RTD) analysis confirms that the reactor operates at well mixed conditions. Finally, Staphylococcus carnosus TM300 growth is demonstrated via batch culture experiments. Future work consists in expanding the optics of the microbioreactor design to include the monitoring of variables such as fluorescent protein expression, among others. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microbioreactor" title="microbioreactor">microbioreactor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cell-culture" title=" cell-culture"> cell-culture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fermentation" title=" fermentation"> fermentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microfluidics" title=" microfluidics"> microfluidics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39466/development-and-characterisation-of-a-microbioreactor-cassette-for-cell-culture-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39466.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">416</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">286</span> A Correlation Between Perceived Usage of Project Management Methodologies and Project Success in Horizon 2020 Projects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aurelio%20Palacardo">Aurelio Palacardo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Giulio%20Mangano"> Giulio Mangano</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20De%20Marco"> Alberto De Marco</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays, the global economic framework is extremely competitive, and it consequently requires an efficient deployment of the resources provided by EU. The objective of this work is to explore the usage of Project Management methodologies and good practices in the European-wide research program “Horizon2020” and establish whether their maturity might impact the project's success. This allows to identify strengths in terms of application of PM methodologies and good practices and, in turn, to provide feedback and opportunities for improvements to be implemented in future programs. In order to achieve this objective, the present research makes use of a survey-based data retrieval and correlation analysis to investigate the level of perceived PM maturity in H2020 projects and the correlation of maturity with project success. The results show the Project Managers involved in H2020 to hold a high level of PM maturity, confirming PM standards, which are imposed by the EU commission as a binding process, are effectively enforced. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=project%20management" title="project management">project management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=project%20management%20maturity" title=" project management maturity"> project management maturity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maturity%20models" title=" maturity models"> maturity models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=project%20success" title=" project success"> project success</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142950/a-correlation-between-perceived-usage-of-project-management-methodologies-and-project-success-in-horizon-2020-projects" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142950.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">163</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">285</span> A Model Approach of Good Practice Based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge® Guide in the Project Owner</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claudia%20Marcela%20Munoz%20Gonzalez">Claudia Marcela Munoz Gonzalez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diego%20Fernando%20Hernandez%20Losada"> Diego Fernando Hernandez Losada</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hugo%20Alberto%20Herrera%20Fonseca"> Hugo Alberto Herrera Fonseca</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The project owner's role in the public-private investment consists of controlling and verifying the correct execution of the project's objectives and resources. In the same way, highlight what are the controls that an integral project owner should take into account in its exercise and application, through the stages in which its contract runs. Characteristics analyzed were the mentioning of pharmaceutical drugs, country, and institution of the first author, methodologies used, journal, and the year of publication. Methods: All articles (N=566) analyzed were published between January 1st, 1943 and December 31st, 2021. Inter rater reliability was assessed and there was a 94.4 percent agreement amongst raters. All articles were analyzed through both PubMed and PsycInfo. Results: A one way chi square indicated that there was a significant number of articles expressing mixed beliefs on the cause of autism. Scientific perspectives on the cause of autism have changed significantly over time. Particularly, the belief of empiricism (environmental factors) has decreased significantly, while both mixed beliefs and nativism have increased remarkably. Additionally, the mentioning of pharmaceutical drugs is involved with the beliefs on the cause of autism. Conclusion: Articles in the twenty first century are most likely to express both nativist and empiricist viewpoints on the cause of autism. Articles that express mixed beliefs are most likely to mention drugs in their study. The results impact scientific self-understanding on autism and beliefs in high-income countries, and advance scientific understanding globally. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
