The ground is firm and surfaced with slightly coarse gravel and crushed rock. The parking area is marked with a traffic sign, but there are no designated accessible parking spaces.</p> <p><strong>Services and structures for hikers</strong></p> <p>There is an information board at the starting point of the trail and two campfire sites, a lean-to shelter, a hut and two ordinary and two accessible dry toilets along the trail. There are also six picnic tables along the trail. Changes in elevation, crosswise slopes and rugged terrain in places make the route difficult to hike. Even though the trail is surfaced with stone dust, the amount of coverage varies in different parts of the trail. Although the ground surface of the trail is mostly firm, it should be noted that weather conditions may soften the trail and make it challenging in places for visitors in wheelchairs. An assistant is recommended for wheelchair users.</p> <p>The Peukaloinen  Trail starts from the green boom in the parking area, which can be bypassed from the left side (bypass width 160 cm). The trail is surfaced with stone dust. The ground surface is mostly firm, smooth and easy to walk. The beginning of the trail has a steady 9% rise for approximately 140 metres. Approximately 350 metres from the starting point, the trail drops gently and steadily for 50 metres, after which there are hills with a slope of as much as 18% and a crosswise slope 11% in some places. Trail markers are easily seen next to the trail. The trail, which follows an old road bed, is approximately 2.5 metres wide to the first campsite, Peukalolammi.</p> <p><strong>The Peukalolammi picnic area</strong> has a lean-to shelter, an accessible campfire site and a dry toilet. The forest trail, which stands out well from the surrounding terrain, is 1.5-1.6 metres wide at its narrowest point and has a slope of as much as 10%. Before coming to a small bridge over a ditch, the trail is a bit rugged and slopes away on both sides. After the bridge, the trail continues flatly almost a kilometre to the Kaksvetinen picnic area. The distance between the picnic areas is 1.3 km.</p> <p><strong>The Kaksvetinen picnic area</strong> is 50 metres from the intersection of the trail on the shoreline of Kaksvetinen. There is a steep rise about 200 metres away from the picnic area (7.7% slope). The trail is higher than the surrounding terrain and the edges of the trail drop off sharply. In some places, there may be some trail washout on the sides. There is another steep rise about 700 metres from the picnic area (6.6% slope) and a crosswise slope of almost 14% immediately after it. You can admire mire lakes and pine heaths along the trail. After diverging from the Häme Lynx Trail, the Punatulkku trail continues through a pine heath to a slightly boggier area and from there to the shoreline of Lake Liesjärvi towards the Korteniemi yard. There is a connection to a trail crossing the park from Korteniemi to Kyynäränharju.</p> <h3><a id="pohjantikkatrail" name="pohjantikkatrail"></a>Pohjantikka Trail, 5 km</h3> <p>In the snow-free season, approx. 2 hour hike.</p> <p><strong>On the Pohjantikka Trail, you will walk in the footsteps of Finnish ancestors. The trail follows the shoreline of Lake Liesjärvi to Pitkäkärki, which was settled by humans as early as the Stone Age. During the Stone Age, people lived, hunted and gathered their food here in the Liesjärvi area, leaving behind the objects they used. Among other artefacts, gouges and quartz flake-tools have been found at the site. Then, the trail diverges from the Häme Lynx Trail and follows the shoreline of Lake Liesjärvi to Pitkäkärki, where there is a small meadow and barns. Pitkäkärki is also a Stone Age settlement protected by the Antiquities Act. There are old-growth forests along the trail and a lot of important coarse woody debris. Coarse woody debris is home to valuable species in an old-growth forest. Please note that decaying trees may be dangerous in windy weather. In the summer, farm cows graze in Perkko field. There is a connection to a trail crossing the park from Korteniemi to Kyynäränharju.</p> <h3><a id="hyypiötrail" name="hyypiötrail"></a>Hyypiö Trail, 2.8 km</h3> <p>In the snow-free season, approx. 30-60 min hike.</p> <p><strong>Circling the varied terrain and landscape of Liesjärvi National Park, Hyypiö Trail climbs to the top of Hyypiönkallio hill. There is another dining table at the shore of Lake Tapolanjärvi.</p> <p><strong>Trail description</strong><br /> Trail marking: A white diamond with an orange mark inside.<br /> Recommended direction: clockwise.</p> <p>The trail starts from the northern end of the Kyynäränharju esker, off of Kanteluksentie road. The trail starts heading toward Kyynäränharju. At the beginning of the trail, you can admire lush forest and herb-rich vegetation. After crossing Kanteluksentie road, the trail becomes varied in both terrain and landscape. The trail climbs to Hyypiönkallio hill, where you can rest and admire the view of Lake Tapolanjärvi. The trail passes by the Siltalahti boat ramp on its way back to Kanteluksentie. Note! Marked trails can be hiked throughout the area, for example, from Korteniemi all the way to Hyypiönkallio via Kyynäränharju.</p> <p>The Liesjärvi National Park trail network is part of the <a href="https://hameenvirkistysalueyhdistys.fi/hameen-ilvesreitti/">Häme Lynx Trail (hameenvirkistysalueyhdistys.fi, in Finnish)</a>. The Häme Lynx Trail is marked with yellow markings.
