These activities are provided in close cooperation with relevant sectors within WIPO and are aimed at facilitating the use of IP for social, cultural and economic development. In addition, the LAC Bureau administers Funds-in-Trust (FITs) of member states, which help to promote the effective use of IP in the region.</p><h2>Our activities include:</h2><ul class="dot__list"><li>Development of <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20180619011844/http://www.wipo.int/ipstrategies/en/">national IP strategies</a>, policies, and country plans, taking into account the priorities and specific needs of the countries;</li><li>Supporting member states in strengthening their IP systems by providing development-oriented <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20180619011844/http://www.wipo.int/global_ip/en/activities/technicalassistance/">technical assistance</a> and <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20180619011844/http://www.wipo.int/cooperation/en/capacity_building/">capacity building</a> programs, as required;</li><li>Management of member states' Fund-in-Trust (FIT), which contribute to the use of IP for development in the region; and</li><li>Supporting horizontal cooperation initiatives among IP offices in the LAC region.
