so called, from a mark made in the flesh by hands; <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/ephesians/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>that you were at that time without Christ, being aliens from the community of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and having no God in the world: <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/ephesians/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>but now, in Christ Jesus, you, who were formerly far off, have become near, by the blood of the Christ. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/ephesians/2-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>For he is our peace, who has made both parties one, and broken down the partition wall that separated us, <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/ephesians/2-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>having abolished, in his flesh, the cause of enmity, the law of commandments in ordinances, that he might, by himself, form the two into one new man, thus making peace; <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/ephesians/2-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>and that he might reconcile both, in one body, to God, through the cross, having by it put to death the cause of enmity;
