The feedback is designed to remove impulsive noise contamination images produced by a recursive least square algorithm by measuring the output of the proposed algorithm. The key advantage of the method is based on its capacity to estimate detectors parameters and then compensate for impulsive noise contamination image in a frame by frame basics. We define the algorithm and present several experimental results to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method in comparison to several previously published recursive least square-based methods. We show that the proposed method removes impulsive noise contamination image. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infrared%20focal%20plane%20arrays" title="infrared focal plane arrays">infrared focal plane arrays</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infrared%20imaging" title=" infrared imaging"> infrared imaging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=least%20mean%20square" title=" least mean square"> least mean square</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonuniformity%20correction" title=" nonuniformity correction"> nonuniformity correction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131681/nonuniformity-correction-technique-in-infrared-video-using-feedback-recursive-least-square-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131681.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">494</span> Research of Intrinsic Emittance of Thermal Cathode with Emission Nonuniformity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yufei%20Peng">Yufei Peng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhen%20Qin"> Zhen Qin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jianbe%20Li"> Jianbe Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jidong%20Long"> Jidong Long</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The thermal cathode is widely used in accelerators, FELs and kinds of vacuum electronics. However, emission nonuniformity exists due to surface profile, material distribution, temperature variation, crystal orientation, etc., which will cause intrinsic emittance growth, brightness decline, envelope size augment, device performance deterioration or even failure. To understand how emittance is manipulated by emission nonuniformity, an intrinsic emittance model consisting of contributions from macro and micro surface nonuniformity is developed analytically based on general thermal emission model at temperature limited regime according to a real 3mm cathode. The model shows relative emittance increased about 50% due to temperature variation, and less than 5% from several kinds of micro surface nonuniformity which is much smaller than other research. Otherwise, we also calculated emittance growth combining with Monte Carlo method and PIC simulation, experiments of emission uniformity and emittance measurement are going to be carried out separately. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20cathode" title="thermal cathode">thermal cathode</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electron%20emission%20fluctuation" title=" electron emission fluctuation"> electron emission fluctuation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intrinsic%20emittance" title=" intrinsic emittance"> intrinsic emittance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surface%20nonuniformity" title=" surface nonuniformity"> surface nonuniformity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cathode%20lifetime" title=" cathode lifetime"> cathode lifetime</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/64153/research-of-intrinsic-emittance-of-thermal-cathode-with-emission-nonuniformity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/64153.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">298</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">493</span> Nonuniformity of the Piston Motion in a Radial Aircraft Engine</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Pietrykowski">K. This paper discusses the results of the kinematic analysis of pistons motion of the ASz-62IR radial engine. The ASz-62IR engine is produced in Poland and mounted in the M-18 Dromader and the An-2. The results are shown as the courses of the motion of the pistons. The discrepancies in the courses for individual pistons can result in different masses of the charge to fill the cylinders. Besides, pistons acceleration of individual cylinders is different, which triggers an additional vibration in the engine. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonuniformity" title="nonuniformity">nonuniformity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinematic%20analysis" title=" kinematic analysis"> kinematic analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piston%20motion" title=" piston motion"> piston motion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radial%20engine" title=" radial engine"> radial engine</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49925/nonuniformity-of-the-piston-motion-in-a-radial-aircraft-engine" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49925.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">385</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">492</span> MCERTL: Mutation-Based Correction Engine for Register-Transfer Level Designs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khaled%20Salah">Khaled Salah</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we present MCERTL (mutation-based correction engine for RTL designs) as an automatic error correction technique based on mutation analysis. As such, it implies that oral error correction by teachers in a classroom is unnecessary, a waste of time, and maybe even counterproductive. And yet, oral error correction by teachers in the classroom continues to be a very common phenomenon. While input theory advocates claim that such correction doesn’t work, interrupts a student’s train of thought, harms fluency, and may cause students embarrassment and fear, many teachers would disagree. They would claim that students know they make mistakes and want to be corrected in order to know they are improving, thereby encouraging students’ desire to keep studying. Moreover, good teachers can create a positive atmosphere where students will not be embarrassed or fearful. Perhaps now is the time to revisit oral error correction in the classroom and consider the results of research carried out long ago by the present speaker. The research indicates that oral error correction may be beneficial in many cases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=input%20theory" title="input theory">input theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language%20acquisition" title=" language acquisition"> language acquisition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=teachers%27%20corrections" title=" teachers&#039; corrections"> teachers&#039; corrections</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recurrent%20errors" title=" recurrent errors"> recurrent errors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188530/to-err-is-human-revisiting-oral-error-correction-in-class" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188530.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">32</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">490</span> Aerodynamic Design of Three-Dimensional Bellmouth for Low-Speed Open-Circuit Wind Tunnel</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Harshavardhan%20Reddy">Harshavardhan Reddy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Balaji%20Subramanian"> Balaji Subramanian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A systematic parametric study to find the optimum bellmouth profile by relating geometric and performance parameters to satisfy a set of specifications is reported. A careful aerodynamic design of bellmouth intake is critical to properly direct the flow with minimal losses and maximal flow uniformity into the honeycomb located inside the settling chamber of an indraft wind tunnel, thus improving the efficiency of the entire unit. Design charts for elliptically profiled bellmouths with two different contraction ratios (9 and 18) and three different test section speeds (25 m/s, 50 m/s, and 75 m/s) were presented. A significant performance improvement - especially in the Coefficient of discharge and in the flow angularity and boundary layer thickness at the honeycomb inlet - was observed when an entry corner radius (r/D = 0.08) was added to the bellmouth profile. The nonuniformity at the honeycomb inlet drops by about three times (~1% to 0.3%) when moving from square to regular octagonal cross-section. An octagonal cross-sectioned bellmouth intake with L/d = 0.55, D/d = 1.625, and r/D = 0.08 met all the four target performance specifications and is proposed as the best choice for a low-speed wind tunnel. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bellmouth%20intake" title="bellmouth intake">bellmouth intake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low-speed%20wind%20tunnel" title=" low-speed wind tunnel"> low-speed wind tunnel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coefficient%20of%20discharge" title=" coefficient of discharge"> coefficient of discharge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonuniformity" title=" nonuniformity"> nonuniformity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20angularity" title=" flow angularity"> flow angularity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=boundary%20layer%20thickness" title=" boundary layer thickness"> boundary layer thickness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CFD" title=" CFD"> CFD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerodynamics" title=" aerodynamics"> aerodynamics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152208/aerodynamic-design-of-three-dimensional-bellmouth-for-low-speed-open-circuit-wind-tunnel" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152208.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">198</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">489</span> The Effect of the Acquisition and Reconstruction Parameters in Quality of Spect Tomographic Images with Attenuation and Scatter Correction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=N.%20Boutaghane">N. For this, it is not always put into leading technological advances to improve the performance of tomographic gamma camera in terms of detection, collimation, reconstruction and correction of tomographic images methods. We have to master firstly the choice of various acquisition and reconstruction parameters, accessible to clinical cases and using the attenuation and scatter correction methods to always optimize quality image and minimized to the maximum dose received by the patient. In this work, an evaluation of qualitative and quantitative tomographic images is performed based on the acquisition parameters (counts per projection) and reconstruction parameters (filter type, associated cutoff frequency). In addition, methods for correcting physical effects such as attenuation and scatter degrading the image quality and preventing precise quantitative of the reconstructed slices are also presented. Two approaches of attenuation and scatter correction are implemented: the attenuation correction by CHANG method with a filtered back projection reconstruction algorithm and scatter correction by the subtraction JASZCZAK method. Our results are considered as such recommandation, which permits to determine the origin of the different artifacts observed both in quality control tests and in clinical images. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attenuation" title="attenuation">attenuation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scatter" title=" scatter"> scatter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reconstruction%20filter" title=" reconstruction filter"> reconstruction filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20quality" title=" image quality"> image quality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acquisition%20and%20reconstruction%20parameters" title=" acquisition and reconstruction parameters"> acquisition and reconstruction parameters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SPECT" title=" SPECT"> SPECT</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38755/the-effect-of-the-acquisition-and-reconstruction-parameters-in-quality-of-spect-tomographic-images-with-attenuation-and-scatter-correction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38755.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">455</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">488</span> Correction Factor to Enhance the Non-Standard Hammer Effect Used in Standard Penetration Test </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khaled%20R.%20Khater">Khaled R. The locally manufacturer drilling rigs use hammers, sometimes deviating off the standard weight. This affects the field measured blow counts (Nf) consequentially, affecting most of correlations previously obtained, as they were obtained based on standard hammer weight. The literature presents energy corrections factor (η2) to be applied to the SPT total input energy. This research investigates the effect of the hammer weight variation, as a single parameter, on the field measured blow counts (Nf). The outcome is a correction factor (ηk), equation, and correction chart. They are recommended to adjust back the measured misleading (Nf) to the standard one as if the standard hammer is used. This correction is very important to be done in such cases where a non-standard hammer is being used because the bore logs in any geotechnical report should contain true and representative values (Nf), let alone the long records of correlations, already in hand. The study here-in is achieved by using laboratory physical model to simulate the SPT dripping hammer mechanism. It is designed to allow different hammer weights to be used. Also, it is manufactured to avoid and eliminate the energy loss sources. This produces a transmitted efficiency up to 100%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=correction%20factors" title="correction factors">correction factors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hammer%20weight" title=" hammer weight"> hammer weight</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physical%20model" title=" physical model"> physical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=standard%20penetration%20test" title=" standard penetration test"> standard penetration test</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36848/correction-factor-to-enhance-the-non-standard-hammer-effect-used-in-standard-penetration-test" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36848.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">387</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">487</span> A Survey of 2nd Year Students&#039; Frequent Writing Error and the Effects of Participatory Error Correction Process</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chaiwat%20Tantarangsee">Chaiwat Tantarangsee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purposes of this study are 1) to study the effects of participatory error correction process and 2) to find out the students’ satisfaction of such error correction process. This study is a Quasi Experimental Research with single group, in which data is collected 5 times preceding and following 4 experimental studies of participatory error correction process including providing coded indirect corrective feedback in the students’ texts with error treatment activities. Samples include 28 2nd year English Major students, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. Tool for experimental study includes the lesson plan of the course; Reading and Writing English for Academic Purposes II, and tools for data collection include 5 writing tests of short texts and a questionnaire. Based on formative evaluation of the students’ writing ability prior to and after each of the 4 experiments, the research findings disclose the students’ higher scores with statistical difference at 0.05. Moreover, in terms of the effect size of such process, it is found that for mean of the students’ scores prior to and after the 4 experiments; d equals 1.0046, 1.1374, 1.297, and 1.0065 respectively. It can be concluded that participatory error correction process enables all of the students to learn equally well and there is improvement in their ability to write short texts. Finally, the students’ overall satisfaction of the participatory error correction process is in high level (Mean=4.32, S.D.=0.92). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coded%20indirect%20corrective%20feedback" title="coded indirect corrective feedback">coded indirect corrective feedback</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=participatory%20error%20correction%20process" title=" participatory error correction process"> participatory error correction process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20treatment" title=" error treatment"> error treatment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=humanities%20and%20social%20sciences" title=" humanities and social sciences"> humanities and social sciences</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19731/a-survey-of-2nd-year-students-frequent-writing-error-and-the-effects-of-participatory-error-correction-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19731.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">523</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">486</span> A Novel Way to Create Qudit Quantum Error Correction Codes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arun%20Moorthy">Arun Moorthy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Quantum computing promises to provide algorithmic speedups for a number of tasks; however, similar to classical computing, effective error-correcting codes are needed. Current quantum computers require costly equipment to control each particle, so having fewer particles to control is ideal. Although traditional quantum computers are built using qubits (2-level systems), qudits (more than 2-levels) are appealing since they can have an equivalent computational space using fewer particles, meaning fewer particles need to be controlled. Currently, qudit quantum error-correction codes are available for different level qudit systems; however, these codes have sometimes overly specific constraints. When building a qudit system, it is important for researchers to have access to many codes to satisfy their requirements. This project addresses two methods to increase the number of quantum error correcting codes available to researchers. The first method is generating new codes for a given set of parameters. The second method is generating new error-correction codes by using existing codes as a starting point to generate codes for another level (i.e., a 5-level system code on a 2-level system). So, this project builds a website that researchers can use to generate new error-correction codes or codes based on existing codes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=qudit" title="qudit">qudit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20correction" title=" error correction"> error correction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum" title=" quantum"> quantum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=qubit" title=" qubit"> qubit</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138747/a-novel-way-to-create-qudit-quantum-error-correction-codes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138747.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">161</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">485</span> An Efficient Algorithm of Time Step Control for Error Correction Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Youngji%20Lee">Youngji Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yonghyeon%20Jeon"> Yonghyeon Jeon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sunyoung%20Bu"> Sunyoung Bu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Philsu%20Kim"> Philsu Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this paper is to construct an algorithm of time step control for the error correction method most recently developed by one of the authors for solving stiff initial value problems. The main idea of the proposed scheme is in the usage of the duplicated node points in the generalized Chebyshev polynomials of two different degrees by adding necessary sample points instead of re-sampling all points. At each integration step, the proposed method is comprised of two equations for the solution and the error, respectively. The constructed algorithm controls both the error and the time step size simultaneously and possesses a good performance in the computational cost compared to the original method. This study developed an error correction method for an indoor real-time location system (RTLS) based on an ultra-wideband (UWB) sensor from Decawave. Multiple stationary nodes (anchor) were installed throughout the workspace. The distance between stationary and moving nodes (tag) can be measured using a two-way-ranging (TWR) scheme. The result has shown that the uncorrected ranging error from the sensor system can be as large as 1 m. To reduce ranging error and thus increase positioning accuracy, This study purposes an online correction algorithm using the Kalman filter. To study and copare the side effects of myopia contact correction by soft lenses and orthokeratology lenses among medical students. Patients and methods: 34 students (68 eyes) with moderate and severe myopia, who used contact correction of myopia for 2-4 years, were examined. Some of them used soft lenses, while others - orthokeratology lenses. Methods were used: biomicroscopy of the eye surface, Schirmer's test, Norn's test, survey regarding satisfaction with use. Results. Corneal vascularization along the limbus was noted in 4 (5%) eyes of the examined students. In 8 (11%) eyes, symptoms of mild dry eye disease were detected. 2 (3%) eyes showed signs of meibomitis. Allergic conjunctivitis was observed in 4 (5%) eyes, and a purulent corneal ulcer was present in 1 eye. Surveys have shown that orthokeratology lenses unlike soft lenses don't limit everyday activity (in sports, tourism, swimming etc.), they also don't cause discomfort during temperature changes and reduce existing symptoms of dry eye disease. Conclusion. Thus, myopia contact correction is one of the optimal options among students, which allows to expand physical and mental activity. However, taking into account the frequency of side effects in users of soft contact lenses, it is necessary to carry out prevention and treatment of myopia in medical students, follow the recommendations for use, instill preservative-free tear substitutes with trehalose when symptoms of dry eye appear. Also when side reactions occur, contact correction with soft lenses should be changed to orthokeratology lenses. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=correction" title="correction">correction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=myopia" title=" myopia"> myopia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soft%20lenses" title=" soft lenses"> soft lenses</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=orthokeratology" title=" orthokeratology"> orthokeratology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=specracles" title=" specracles"> specracles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cornea" title=" cornea"> cornea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry%20eye" title=" dry eye"> dry eye</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=side%20effects" title=" side effects"> side effects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=refractive%20errors" title=" refractive errors"> refractive errors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182748/study-of-side-effects-of-myopia-contact-correction-by-soft-lenses-and-orthokeratology-lenses-among-medical-students" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182748.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">54</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">482</span> Environmental Fatigue Analysis for Control Rod Drive Mechanisms Seal House</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xuejiao%20Shao">Xuejiao Shao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jianguo%20Chen"> Jianguo Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaolong%20Fu"> Xiaolong Fu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, the elastoplastic strain correction factor computed by software of ANSYS was modified, and the fatigue usage factor in air was also corrected considering in water under reactor operating condition. The fatigue of key parts on control rod drive mechanisms was analyzed considering the influence of environmental fatigue caused by the coolant in the react pressure vessel. The elastoplastic strain correction factor was modified by analyzing thermal and mechanical loads separately referring the rules of RCC-M 2002. The new elastoplastic strain correction factor Ke(mix) is computed to replace the original Ke computed by the software of ANSYS when evaluating the fatigue produced by thermal and mechanical loads together. Based on the Ke(mix) and the usage cycle and fatigue design curves, the new range of primary plus secondary stresses was evaluated to obtain the final fatigue usage factor. The results show that the precision of fatigue usage factor can be elevated by using modified Ke when the amplify of the primary and secondary stress is large to some extent. One approach has been proposed for incorporating the environmental effects considering the effects of reactor coolant environments on fatigue life in terms of an environmental correction factor Fen, which is the ratio of fatigue life in air at room. To incorporate environmental effects into the RCCM Code fatigue evaluations, the fatigue usage factor based on the current Code design curves is multiplied by the correction factor. The contribution of environmental effects to results is discussed. Fatigue life decreases logarithmically with decreasing strain rate below 10%/s, which is insensitive to strain rate when temperatures below 100°C. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20fatigue" title="environmental fatigue">environmental fatigue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=usage%20factor" title=" usage factor"> usage factor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elastoplastic%20strain%20correction%20factor" title=" elastoplastic strain correction factor"> elastoplastic strain correction factor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20correction" title=" environmental correction"> environmental correction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59209/environmental-fatigue-analysis-for-control-rod-drive-mechanisms-seal-house" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59209.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">324</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">481</span> Salter Pelvic Osteotomy for the Treatment of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip: Assessment of Postoperative Results and Risk Factors</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Suvorov%20Vasyl">Suvorov Vasyl</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Filipchuk%20Viktor"> Filipchuk Viktor</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: If non-surgical treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) fails or if DDH is late-detected, surgery is necessary. Salter pelvic osteotomy (SPO) is an effective surgical option for such cases. The objectives of this study were to assess the results after SPO, evaluate risk factors, and reveal those radiological parameters that may correlate with the results. Mid- and long-term postoperative results after SPO in 17 patients (22 hip joints) were analyzed. Risk factors included those that do not depend on the surgeon (patient's age, value of the acetabular index (AI) preoperatively, DDH Tonnis grade) and those that depend on the surgeon (amount of AI correction). To radiological parameters which may correlate with the amount of AI correction, we referred distance "d" and the lateral rotation angle. Results: SPO allows performing AI correction in ranges 24.1 ± 6.5°. Excellent and good clinical results were obtained in 95.5% of patients; excellent and good radiological results in 86.4% of patients. Risk factors that do not depend on the surgeon were older patient’s age and higher preoperative AI values (p < 0.05). The risk factor that depends on the surgeon was the amount of AI correction (p < 0.05). The distance "d" was recognized as a radiological parameter that may indicate sufficient AI correction (p < 0.05). Conclusion: In older patients with a higher preoperative AI value, the results will be predictably worse. The surgeon may influence the result with a greater amount of AI correction (which may also be indicated radiologically by the distance "d" values). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=developmental%20dysplasia%20of%20the%20hip" title="developmental dysplasia of the hip">developmental dysplasia of the hip</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=results" title=" results"> results</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20factor" title=" risk factor"> risk factor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pelvic%20osteotomy" title=" pelvic osteotomy"> pelvic osteotomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=salter%20osteotomy" title=" salter osteotomy"> salter osteotomy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147537/salter-pelvic-osteotomy-for-the-treatment-of-developmental-dysplasia-of-the-hip-assessment-of-postoperative-results-and-risk-factors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147537.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">131</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">480</span> A Sliding Mesh Technique and Compressibility Correction Effects of Two-Equation Turbulence Models for a Pintle-Perturbed Flow Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J.%20Y.%20Heo">J. However, it suffers from the systematic overestimation of the bottom elevation, due to the light refraction at the air-water interface. In this study, we present an empirical method to correct for the effect of refraction after the usual SfM-MVS processing, using common software. The presented method utilizes the empirical relation between the measured true depth and the estimated apparent depth to generate an empirical correction factor. Furthermore, this correction factor was utilized to convert the apparent water depth into a refraction-corrected (real-scale) water depth. To examine its effectiveness, we applied the method to two river sites, and compared the RMS errors in the corrected bottom elevations with those obtained by three existing methods. The result shows that the presented method is more effective than the two existing methods: The method without applying correction factor and the method utilizes the refractive index of water (1.34) as correction factor. In comparison with the remaining existing method, which used the additive terms (offset) after calculating correction factor, the presented method performs well in Site 2 and worse in Site 1. However, we found this linear regression method to be unstable when the training data used for calibration are limited. It also suffers from a large negative bias in the correction factor when the apparent water depth estimated is affected by noise, according to our numerical experiment. Overall, the good accuracy of refraction correction method depends on various factors such as the locations, image acquisition, and GPS measurement conditions. The most effective method can be selected by using statistical selection (e.g. leave-one-out cross validation). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bottom%20elevation" title="bottom elevation">bottom elevation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MVS" title=" MVS"> MVS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=river" title=" river"> river</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SfM" title=" SfM"> SfM</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63370/a-simple-and-empirical-refraction-correction-method-for-uav-based-shallow-water-photogrammetry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63370.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">299</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">478</span> Correction of Skeletal Deformity by Surgical Approach – A Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Davender%20Kumar">Davender Kumar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Virender%20Singh"> Virender Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rekha%20Sharma"> Rekha Sharma </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Correction of skeletal deformities in adult patients with orthodontics is limited. The changing climate has been attributed to rising concentrations of greenhouse gases, including environmental changes such as ecosystems and land-uses. Climatic projections have been carried out under the auspices of the intergovernmental panel on climate change where a couple of models have been run to inform us about the likelihood of future climates. Since one of the major forcings informing the changing climate is emission of greenhouse gases, different scenarios have been proposed and future climates for different periods presented. The global climate models project different areas to experience different impacts. While regional modeling is being carried out for high impact studies, bias correction is less documented. Yet, the regional climate models suffer bias which introduces uncertainty. This is addressed in this study by bias correcting the regional models. This study uses the Weather Research and Forecasting model under different representative concentration pathways and correcting the products of these models using observed climatic data. This study notes that bias correction (e.g., the running-mean bias correction; the best easy systematic estimator method; the simple linear regression method, nearest neighborhood, weighted mean) improves the climatic projection skill and therefore reduce the uncertainty inherent in the climatic projections. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bias%20correction" title="bias correction">bias correction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climatic%20projections" title=" climatic projections"> climatic projections</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20models" title=" numerical models"> numerical models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=representative%20concentration%20pathways" title=" representative concentration pathways"> representative concentration pathways</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111018/reducing-uncertainty-in-climate-projections-over-uganda-by-numerical-models-using-bias-correction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111018.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">120</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">474</span> Vertebral Transverse Open Wedge Osteotomy in Correction of Thoracolumbar Kyphosis Resulting from Ankylosing Spondylitis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20AliReza%20Mirghasemi">S. Several operative techniques have been used in this stage, but little knowledge exists on the indications for and outcome of these methods. In this study, we examined the efficacy of monosegmental transverse open wedge osteotomy of L3 in 11 patients with progressive spinal kyphosis. The average correction was 36̊ (20 to 42) with no loss of correction after operation. The average operating time was 120 minutes (100 to 130) and the mean blood loss was 1500 ml (1100 to 2000). Osteotomy corrected all patients sufficiently to allow them to see ahead and their posture was improved. There were no fatal complications but one patient had paraplegia after the operation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ankylosing%20spondylitis" title="ankylosing spondylitis">ankylosing spondylitis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thoracolumbar%20kyphosis" title=" thoracolumbar kyphosis"> thoracolumbar kyphosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=open%20wedge%20osteotomy" title=" open wedge osteotomy"> open wedge osteotomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=L3%20transverse%20open%20wedge%20osteotomy" title=" L3 transverse open wedge osteotomy"> L3 transverse open wedge osteotomy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34782/vertebral-transverse-open-wedge-osteotomy-in-correction-of-thoracolumbar-kyphosis-resulting-from-ankylosing-spondylitis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34782.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">394</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">473</span> Botulinum Toxin type A for Lower Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jawaher%20F.%20Alsharef">Jawaher F. Lately, BTX-A injection received great interest as a part of multimodal pain management for lower limb lengthening and deformity correction. This systematic review aimed to determine the role of BTX-A injection in pain management for during lower limb lengthening and/or deformity correction. We searched Medline, Embase, and CENTRAL. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared the BTX-A injection to placebo for individuals undergoing lower limb lengthening and/or deformity correction. We sought to evaluate the following outcomes: pain on visual analogue scale (VAS), range of motion parameters, average opioid consumption, and adverse events. The standardized mean difference (SMD) was used to represent continuous outcomes while risk ratio (RR) was used to represent dichotomous outcomes. A total of 4 RCTs that enrolled 257 participants (337 limbs) deemed eligible. Adjuvant BTX-A injection showed a significant reduction in post-operative pain compared to placebo (SMD=–0.28, 95% CI –0.53 to –0.04). No difference was found between BTX-A injection and placebo in terms of range of motion parameters, average opioid consumption, or adverse events after surgical limb lengthening and/or deformity correction (RR= 0.77, 95% CI –0.58 to 1.03). Conclusions: Adjuvant BTX-A injection conferred a discernible reduction in post-operative pain during surgical limb lengthening and/or deformity without increasing the risk of adverse events. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=botulinum%20toxin%20type%20A" title="botulinum toxin type A">botulinum toxin type A</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=limb%20lengthening" title=" limb lengthening"> limb lengthening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distraction%20osteogenesis" title=" distraction osteogenesis"> distraction osteogenesis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deformity%20correction" title=" deformity correction"> deformity correction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pain%20management" title=" pain management"> pain management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151436/botulinum-toxin-type-a-for-lower-limb-lengthening-and-deformity-correction-a-systematic-review-and-meta-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151436.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">142</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">472</span> Application of Residual Correction Method on Hyperbolic Thermoelastic Response of Hollow Spherical Medium in Rapid Transient Heat Conduction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Po-Jen%20Su">Po-Jen Su</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huann-Ming%20Chou"> Huann-Ming Chou</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this article we uses the residual correction method to deal with transient thermoelastic problems with a hollow spherical region when the continuum medium possesses spherically isotropic thermoelastic properties. Based on linear thermoelastic theory, the equations of hyperbolic heat conduction and thermoelastic motion were combined to establish the thermoelastic dynamic model with consideration of the deformation acceleration effect and non-Fourier effect under the condition of transient thermal shock. The approximate solutions of temperature and displacement distributions are obtained using the residual correction method based on the maximum principle in combination with the finite difference method, making it easier and faster to obtain upper and lower approximations of exact solutions. The proposed method is found to be an effective numerical method with satisfactory accuracy. Moreover, the result shows that the effect of transient thermal shock induced by deformation acceleration is enhanced by non-Fourier heat conduction with increased peak stress. The influence on the stress increases with the thermal relaxation time. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maximum%20principle" title="maximum principle">maximum principle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-Fourier%20heat%20conduction" title=" non-Fourier heat conduction"> non-Fourier heat conduction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residual%20correction%20method" title=" residual correction method"> residual correction method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermo-elastic%20response" title=" thermo-elastic response"> thermo-elastic response</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30884/application-of-residual-correction-method-on-hyperbolic-thermoelastic-response-of-hollow-spherical-medium-in-rapid-transient-heat-conduction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30884.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">426</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">471</span> Is the Okun&#039;s Law Valid in Tunisia?</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Andari%20Chifaa">El Andari Chifaa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bouaziz%20Rached"> Bouaziz Rached</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The central focus of this paper was to check whether the Okun’s law in Tunisia is valid or not. For this purpose, we have used quarterly time series data during the period 1990Q1-2014Q1. Firstly, we applied the error correction model instead of the difference version of Okun's Law, the Engle-Granger and Johansen test are employed to find out long run association between unemployment, production, and how error correction mechanism (ECM) is used for short run dynamic. Secondly, we used the gap version of Okun’s law where the estimation is done from three band pass filters which are mathematical tools used in macro-economic and especially in business cycles theory. The finding of the study indicates that the inverse relationship between unemployment and output is verified in the short and long term, and the Okun's law holds for the Tunisian economy, but with an Okun’s coefficient lower than required. Therefore, our empirical results have important implications for structural and cyclical policymakers in Tunisia to promote economic growth in a context of lower unemployment growth. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Okun%E2%80%99s%20law" title="Okun’s law">Okun’s law</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=validity" title=" validity"> validity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unit%20root" title=" unit root"> unit root</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cointegration" title=" cointegration"> cointegration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20correction%20model" title=" error correction model"> error correction model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bandpass%20filters" title=" bandpass filters"> bandpass filters</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42765/is-the-okuns-law-valid-in-tunisia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42765.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">317</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">470</span> Co-Integration and Error Correction Mechanism of Supply Response of Sugarcane in Pakistan (1980-2012)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Himayatullah%20Khan">Himayatullah Khan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study estimates supply response function of sugarcane in Pakistan from 1980-81 to 2012-13. The study uses co-integration approach and error correction mechanism. Sugarcane production, area and price series were tested for unit root using Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF). The study found that these series were stationary at their first differenced level. Using the Augmented Engle-Granger test and Cointegrating Regression Durbin-Watson (CRDW) test, the study found that “production and price” and “area and price” were co-integrated suggesting that the two sets of time series had long-run or equilibrium relationship. The results of the error correction models for the two sets of series showed that there was disequilibrium in the short run there may be disequilibrium. The Engle-Granger residual may be thought of as the equilibrium error which can be used to tie the short-run behavior of the dependent variable to its long-run value. The Granger-Causality test results showed that log of price granger caused both the long of production and log of area whereas, the log of production and log of area Granger caused each other. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=co-integration" title="co-integration">co-integration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20correction%20mechanism" title=" error correction mechanism"> error correction mechanism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Granger-causality" title=" Granger-causality"> Granger-causality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sugarcane" title=" sugarcane"> sugarcane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=supply%20response" title=" supply response "> supply response </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14689/co-integration-and-error-correction-mechanism-of-supply-response-of-sugarcane-in-pakistan-1980-2012" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14689.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">435</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">469</span> 1 kW Power Factor Correction Soft Switching Boost Converter with an Active Snubber Cell</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yakup%20Sahin">Yakup Sahin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naim%20Suleyman%20Ting"> Naim Suleyman Ting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ismail%20Aksoy"> Ismail Aksoy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A 1 kW power factor correction boost converter with an active snubber cell is presented in this paper. The aim of this work was to evaluate in MS patients a well-known motion correction algorithm from the FMRIB&#39;s Software Library - MCFLIRT - that could be applied to minimize the head motion distortions, allowing to correctly interpret rs-fMRI results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=head%20motion%20correction" title="head motion correction">head motion correction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MCFLIRT%20algorithm" title=" MCFLIRT algorithm"> MCFLIRT algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20sclerosis" title=" multiple sclerosis"> multiple sclerosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resting%20state%20fMRI" title=" resting state fMRI"> resting state fMRI</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85136/evaluation-of-the-mcflirt-correction-algorithm-in-head-motion-from-resting-state-fmri-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85136.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">212</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">467</span> Radial Distortion Correction Based on the Concept of Verifying the Planarity of a Specimen</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Heng%20Tung">Shih-Heng Tung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Hsiang%20Shih"> Ming-Hsiang Shih</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Pei%20Sung"> Wen-Pei Sung</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Because of the rapid development of digital camera and computer, digital image correlation method has drawn lots of attention recently and has been applied to a variety of fields. However, the image distortion is inevitable when the image is captured through a lens. This image distortion problem can result in an innegligible error while using digital image correlation method. There are already many different ways to correct the image distortion, and most of them require specific image patterns or precise control points. A new distortion correction method is proposed in this study. The proposed method is based on the fact that a flat surface should keep flat when it is measured using three-dimensional (3D) digital image measurement technique. Lens distortion can be divided into radial distortion, decentering distortion and thin prism distortion. Because radial distortion has a more noticeable influence than the other types of distortions, this method deals only with radial distortion. The simplified 3D digital image measurement technique is adopted to measure the surface coordinates of a flat specimen. Then the gradient method is applied to find the best correction parameters. A few experiments are carried out in this study to verify the correctness of this method. The results show that this method can achieve a good accuracy and it is suitable for both large and small distortion conditions. The most important advantage is that it requires neither mark with specific pattern nor precise control points. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D%20DIC" title="3D DIC">3D DIC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radial%20distortion" title=" radial distortion"> radial distortion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distortion%20correction" title=" distortion correction"> distortion correction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=planarity" title=" planarity"> planarity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26168/radial-distortion-correction-based-on-the-concept-of-verifying-the-planarity-of-a-specimen" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26168.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">551</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">466</span> Algorithm for Automatic Real-Time Electrooculographic Artifact Correction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Norman%20Sinnigen">Norman Sinnigen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Igor%20Izyurov"> Igor Izyurov</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marina%20Krylova"> Marina Krylova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamidreza%20Jamalabadi"> Hamidreza Jamalabadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarah%20Alizadeh"> Sarah Alizadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martin%20Walter"> Martin Walter</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: EEG is a non-invasive brain activity recording technique with a high temporal resolution that allows the use of real-time applications, such as neurofeedback. However, EEG data are susceptible to electrooculographic (EOG) and electromyography (EMG) artifacts (i.e., jaw clenching, teeth squeezing and forehead movements). Due to their non-stationary nature, these artifacts greatly obscure the information and power spectrum of EEG signals. Many EEG artifact correction methods are too time-consuming when applied to low-density EEG and have been focusing on offline processing or handling one single type of EEG artifact. A software-only real-time method for correcting multiple types of EEG artifacts of high-density EEG remains a significant challenge. Methods: We demonstrate an improved approach for automatic real-time EEG artifact correction of EOG and EMG artifacts. The method was tested on three healthy subjects using 64 EEG channels (Brain Products GmbH) and a sampling rate of 1,000 Hz. Captured EEG signals were imported in MATLAB with the lab streaming layer interface allowing buffering of EEG data. EMG artifacts were detected by channel variance and adaptive thresholding and corrected by using channel interpolation. Real-time independent component analysis (ICA) was applied for correcting EOG artifacts. Results: Our results demonstrate that the algorithm effectively reduces EMG artifacts, such as jaw clenching, teeth squeezing and forehead movements, and EOG artifacts (horizontal and vertical eye movements) of high-density EEG while preserving brain neuronal activity information. The average computation time of EOG and EMG artifact correction for 80 s (80,000 data points) 64-channel data is 300 – 700 ms depending on the convergence of ICA and the type and intensity of the artifact. Conclusion: An automatic EEG artifact correction algorithm based on channel variance, adaptive thresholding, and ICA improves high-density EEG recordings contaminated with EOG and EMG artifacts in real-time. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EEG" title="EEG">EEG</a>, <a
