והתנדבותית, והחלה לנדוד בין בתי ספר ובסיסים צבאיים.\n\nמרים מספרת על חזון המנהיגוּת של בנה, אשר כתב: \"עם מכלול הקוצים והצמחים שנכנסו לי לגוף אפשר להקים ערוגה של מטר על מטר, אבל אלו לא סתם קוצים, אלו קוצי ארץ ישראל\". אליסף מוסיף: אמא הוסיפה את המשפט הבא, שהפך לחלק בלתי נפרד מהקטע: - \"ומי שחי בארץ הזאת צריך לדעת לקבל באהבה את קוציה\".\n\nבמרץ 2010 נאלצה מרים לעמוד במבחן נוסף: בנה השני, רב-סרן פרץ, היה מפקד בסיירת גולני, חלם להיות הרמטכ"ל המרוקאי הראשון. בנובמבר 1998 נהרג אוריאל בהתפוצצות מטעני חבלה שטמנו אנשי חיזבאללה לחיילי צה"ל, ביום הולדתו ה-22. את הכאב על מות בנה תרגמה מרים פרץ לעשייה
