The governing equations for two-dimensional and two directional flows of a pseudoplastic fluid along with nanofluid are modeled and then simplified under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. The exact solutions for temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction are calculated. Series solution of the stream function and pressure gradient are carried out using perturbation technique. The flow quantities have been examined for various physical parameters of interest. It was found, that the magnitude value of the velocity profile decreases with an increase in volume flow rate (Q) and relaxation times (ζ) and increases in sinusoidal, multisinusoidal, trapezoidal and triangular waves. It was also observed that the size of the trapping bolus decreases with the drop of the width of the channel ‘d’ and increases with a rise of relaxation times ζ. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanofluid%20particles" title="nanofluid particles">nanofluid particles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=peristaltic%20flow" title=" peristaltic flow"> peristaltic flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pseudoplastic%20fluid" title=" pseudoplastic fluid"> pseudoplastic fluid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=different%20waveforms" title=" different waveforms"> different waveforms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inclined%20asymmetric%20channel" title=" inclined asymmetric channel"> inclined asymmetric channel</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71251/influence-of-nanoparticles-phenomena-on-the-peristaltic-flow-of-pseudoplastic-fluid-in-an-inclined-asymmetric-channel-with-different-wave-forms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71251.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">237</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1537</span> Flow Prediction of Boundary Shear Stress with Enlarging Flood Plains</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Spandan%20Sahu">Spandan Sahu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amiya%20Kumar%20Pati"> Amiya Kumar Pati</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kishanjit%20Kumar%20Khatua"> Kishanjit Kumar Khatua</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> River is our main source of water which is a form of open channel flow and the flow in open channel provides with many complex phenomenon of sciences that needs to be tackled such as the critical flow conditions, boundary shear stress and depth averaged velocity. Asymmetric rolling is a very effective way to create ultrafine-grained structures of metals and alloys. Since the asymmetric rolling is a continuous process, it has great potential for industrial production of ultrafine-grained structure sheets. Basic principles of asymmetric rolling are described in detail in scientific literature. In this work finite element modeling of asymmetric rolling and metal forming processes in multiroll gauge was performed. Parameters of the processes which allow achieving significant values of shear strain were defined. The results of the study will be useful for the research of the evolution of ultra-fine metal structure in asymmetric rolling. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20rolling" title="asymmetric rolling">asymmetric rolling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=equivalent%20strain" title=" equivalent strain"> equivalent strain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FEM" title=" FEM"> FEM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiroll%20gauge" title=" multiroll gauge"> multiroll gauge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=profile" title=" profile"> profile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=severe%20plastic%20deformation" title=" severe plastic deformation"> severe plastic deformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20strain" title=" shear strain"> shear strain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sheet" title=" sheet"> sheet</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6490/influence-of-different-asymmetric-rolling-processes-on-shear-strain" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6490.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">265</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1532</span> Peristaltic Transport of a Jeffrey Fluid with Double-Diffusive Convection in Nanofluids in the Presence of Inclined Magnetic Field</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Safia%20Akram">Safia Akram</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this article, the effects of peristaltic transport with double-diffusive convection in nanofluids through an asymmetric channel with different waveforms is presented. This study uses the stock market microstructure to capture the asymmetric information. Such an approach allows one to capture the level and extent of the asymmetric information from a firm’s perspective. This study focuses on the two-dimensional measure of the market microstructure in capturing asymmetric information. The composition of capital inflows is measured by running six models simultaneously. By employing the panel data technique, the main finding of this research shows an increase in the asymmetric information of the stock market, in any of the two dimensions of width and depth. This leads to the reduction of foreign investments in both forms of foreign portfolio investment (FPI) and foreign direct investment (FDI), while the reduction in FPI is higher than that of the FDI. The significant effect of asymmetric information on capital inflows implicitly suggests for policymakers to control the changes of foreign capital inflows through transparency in the level of the market. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20flows%20composition" title="capital flows composition">capital flows composition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20information" title=" asymmetric information"> asymmetric information</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stock%20market%20microstructure" title=" stock market microstructure"> stock market microstructure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=foreign%20portfolio%20investment" title=" foreign portfolio investment"> foreign portfolio investment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=foreign%20direct%20investment" title=" foreign direct investment "> foreign direct investment </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28871/asymmetric-information-and-composition-of-capital-inflows-stock-market-microstructure-analysis-of-asia-pacific-countries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28871.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">364</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1529</span> Opportunities and Challenges of Omni Channel Retailing in the Emerging Market</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salma%20Ahmed">Salma Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anil%20Kumar"> Anil Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper develops and estimates a model for understanding the drivers and barriers for Omni-Channel retail. This study serves as one of the first attempt to empirically test the effect of various factors on Omni-channel retail. Omni-channel is relative new and evolving, we hypothesize three drivers: (1) Innovative sales and marketing opportunities, (2) channel migration, (3) Cross channel synergies; and three barriers: (1) Integrated sales and marketing operations, (2) Visibility and synchronization (3) Integration and Technology challenges. The findings from the study strongly support that Omni-channel effects exist between cross channel synergy and channel migration. However, it partially supports innovative sales and marketing operations. We also found the variables which we identified as barriers to Omni-channel retail have a strong impact on Omni-channel retail. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=retailing" title="retailing">retailing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multichannel" title=" multichannel"> multichannel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Omni-channel" title=" Omni-channel"> Omni-channel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emerging%20market" title=" emerging market "> emerging market </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24135/opportunities-and-challenges-of-omni-channel-retailing-in-the-emerging-market" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24135.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">549</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1528</span> Cryptosystems in Asymmetric Cryptography for Securing Data on Cloud at Various Critical Levels</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sartaj%20Singh">Sartaj Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amar%20Singh"> Amar Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashok%20Sharma"> Ashok Sharma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sandeep%20Kaur"> Sandeep Kaur</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With upcoming threats in a digital world, we need to work continuously in the area of security in all aspects, from hardware to software as well as data modelling. Although infrared photodetectors based on layered 2D narrow bandgap semiconductors have shown admirable advantages compared with those based on conventional compounds, which typically suffer from expensive cryogenic operations, it is still urgent to develop a simple but effective strategy to further reduce the dark current. Herein, a tellurium (Te) based infrared photodetector is reported with a specifically designed asymmetric electrical contact area. The deliberately introduced asymmetric electrical contact raises the electric field intensity difference in the Te channel near the drain and the source electrodes, resulting in spontaneous asymmetric carrier diffusion under global infrared light illumination under zero bias. Specifically, the Te-based photodetector presents promising detector performance at room temperature, including a low dark current of≈1 nA, an ultrahigh photocurrent/dark current ratio of 1.57×10⁴, a high specific detectivity (D*) of 3.24×10⁹ Jones, and relatively fast response speed of ≈720 μs at zero bias. The results prove that the simple design of asymmetric electrical contact areas can provide a promising solution to high-performance 2D semiconductor-based infrared photodetectors working at room temperature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetrical%20contact" title="asymmetrical contact">asymmetrical contact</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tellurium" title=" tellurium"> tellurium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dark%20current" title=" dark current"> dark current</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infrared%20photodetector" title=" infrared photodetector"> infrared photodetector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sensitivity" title=" sensitivity"> sensitivity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185792/asymmetrically-contacted-tellurium-short-wave-infrared-photodetector-with-low-dark-current-and-high-sensitivity-at-room-temperature" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185792.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">51</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1526</span> Analysis of Joint Source Channel LDPC Coding for Correlated Sources Transmission over Noisy Channels</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marwa%20Ben%20Abdessalem">Marwa Ben Abdessalem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amin%20Zribi"> Amin Zribi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ammar%20Bouall%C3%A8gue"> Ammar Bouallègue</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, a Joint Source Channel coding scheme based on LDPC codes is investigated. We consider two concatenated LDPC codes, one allows to compress a correlated source and the second to protect it against channel degradations. The original information can be reconstructed at the receiver by a joint decoder, where the source decoder and the channel decoder run in parallel by transferring extrinsic information. We investigate the performance of the JSC LDPC code in terms of Bit-Error Rate (BER) in the case of transmission over an Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel, and for different source and channel rate parameters. We emphasize how JSC LDPC presents a performance tradeoff depending on the channel state and on the source correlation. We show that, the JSC LDPC is an efficient solution for a relatively low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) channel, especially with highly correlated sources. Finally, a source-channel rate optimization has to be applied to guarantee the best JSC LDPC system performance for a given channel. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AWGN%20channel" title="AWGN channel">AWGN channel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=belief%20propagation" title=" belief propagation"> belief propagation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=joint%20source%20channel%20coding" title=" joint source channel coding"> joint source channel coding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LDPC%20codes" title=" LDPC codes"> LDPC codes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62721/analysis-of-joint-source-channel-ldpc-coding-for-correlated-sources-transmission-over-noisy-channels" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62721.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">357</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1525</span> Leverage Effect for Volatility with Generalized Laplace Error</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farrukh%20Javed">Farrukh Javed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Krzysztof%20Podg%C3%B3rski"> Krzysztof Podgórski</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We propose a new model that accounts for the asymmetric response of volatility to positive ('good news') and negative ('bad news') shocks in economic time series the so-called leverage effect. In the past, asymmetric powers of errors in the conditionally heteroskedastic models have been used to capture this effect. Our model is using the gamma difference representation of the generalized Laplace distributions that efficiently models the asymmetry. It has one additional natural parameter, the shape, that is used instead of power in the asymmetric power models to capture the strength of a long-lasting effect of shocks. Some fundamental properties of the model are provided including the formula for covariances and an explicit form for the conditional distribution of 'bad' and 'good' news processes given the past the property that is important for the statistical fitting of the model. Relevant features of volatility models are illustrated using S&P 500 historical data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heavy%20tails" title="heavy tails">heavy tails</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=volatility%20clustering" title=" volatility clustering"> volatility clustering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=generalized%20asymmetric%20laplace%20distribution" title=" generalized asymmetric laplace distribution"> generalized asymmetric laplace distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leverage%20effect" title=" leverage effect"> leverage effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conditional%20heteroskedasticity" title=" conditional heteroskedasticity"> conditional heteroskedasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20power%20volatility" title=" asymmetric power volatility"> asymmetric power volatility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GARCH%20models" title=" GARCH models "> GARCH models </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18972/leverage-effect-for-volatility-with-generalized-laplace-error" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18972.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">385</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1524</span> Unequal Error Protection of VQ Image Transmission System </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khelifi%20Mustapha">Khelifi Mustapha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Moulay%20lakhdar"> A. The matrix cooling structure is useful for the structure stability however the cooling performance of internal cooling channel was not enough for cooling. Therefore, we designed the rib configurations in the matrix cooling channel to enhance the cooling performance. The numerical simulation was conducted to analyze cooling performance of rib configured matrix cooling channel. Three different rib configurations were used which are vertical rib, angled rib and c-type rib. Three configurations were adopted in two positions of matrix cooling channel which is one fourth and three fourth of channel. The result shows that downstream rib has much higher cooling performance than upstream rib. Furthermore, the angled rib in the channel has much higher cooling performance than vertical rib. This is because; the angled rib improves the swirl effect of matrix cooling channel more effectively. The friction factor was increased with the installation of rib. Herein, the transition metal complexes having ruthenium(II), rhodium(I) and iridium(I) metal centres will be discussed. These are air stable complexes and were characterized by CHN analysis, 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy, and polarimetry. Currently, there is an emphasis on 'greener' catalysts and the need for 'green' solvents in asymmetric catalysis. As such, the Ph-Garphos ligands were demethylated thereby introducing hydroxyl moieties unto the ligand scaffold. The facile tunability of the biaryl diphosphines led to the preparation of the (R)-(4,4',6,6'-tetrahydroxybiphenyl-2,2'-diyl)bis(diphenylphosphine) (R-Ph-Garphos-OH), and (S)-(4,4',6,6'-tetrahydroxybiphenyl-2,2'-diyl)bis(diphenylphosphine) (S-Ph-Garphos-OH) ligands. These were successfully characterized by CHN analysis, 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy, and polarimetry. The use of the Ph-Garphos and Ph-Garphos-OH ligands and their transition metal complexes in asymmetric hydrogenations will be reported. Additionally, the scope of the research will highlight the applicability of the Ph-Garphos-OH ligand and its transitional metal complexes as 'green' catalysts. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=catalysis" title="catalysis">catalysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20hydrogenation" title=" asymmetric hydrogenation"> asymmetric hydrogenation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diphosphine%20transition%20metal%20complexes" title=" diphosphine transition metal complexes"> diphosphine transition metal complexes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ph-Garphos%20ligands" title=" Ph-Garphos ligands"> Ph-Garphos ligands</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70174/chiral-diphosphine-ligands-and-their-transition-metal-diphosphine-complexes-in-asymmetric-catalysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70174.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">309</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1518</span> Formation of Round Channel for Microfluidic Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Zahra">A. The unique combination of soft phosphorus (P) and hard nitrogen (N) centres affords a variety of transition metal complexes as potential pre-catalysts for synthetically useful reactions. Herein three ligand systems will be reported; two bidentate ligands - (S)-8-(diphenyl-phosphino)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-amine, (S)THNANH2, and (Rc)-1-((Sp)-2-diphenylphosphino) ferrocenylethylamine, (RcSp)PPFNH2 - and a tridentate (Rc)-1-((Sp)-2-diphenylphosphino) ferrocenylimino-pyridine, (RcSp)PPFNNH2 ligand; the latter prepared from the condensation of selected ferrocene aminophosphines with pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde. Suitable combinations of these aminophosphine ligands with ruthenium precursors have afforded highly efficient systems for the asymmetric hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenation of selected ketones in 2-propanol. The Ru-(S)THNANH2 precatalyst was the most efficient in the asymmetric hydrogenation of selected ketones with 100% conversions within 4 hours at a catalyst loading of 0.1 mol%. The Ru-(RcSp)PPFNNH2 precatalyst was the most efficient in the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of the ketones with conversions as high as 98% with 0.1 mol% catalyst. However, the enantioselectivities were generally low. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aminophosphine" title="aminophosphine">aminophosphine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20hydrogenation" title=" asymmetric hydrogenation"> asymmetric hydrogenation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homogeneous%20catalysis" title=" homogeneous catalysis"> homogeneous catalysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ruthenium%20%28II%29" title=" ruthenium (II)"> ruthenium (II)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transfer%20hydrogenation" title=" transfer hydrogenation"> transfer hydrogenation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70318/chiral-ruthenium-aminophosphine-and-phosphine-iminopyridine-complexes-synthesis-and-application-to-asymmetric-hydrogenation-and-transfer-hydrogenation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70318.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">261</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1513</span> Asymmetric Synthesis and Biological Study of Suberosanes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Kousara">Mohammad Kousara</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fran%C3%A7oise%20Dumas"> Françoise Dumas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rama%20Ibrahim"> Rama Ibrahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jo%C3%ABlle%20Dubois"> Joëlle Dubois</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jo%C3%ABl%20Raingeaud"> Joël Raingeaud</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Suberosanes are a small group of marine natural sesquiterpenes discovered since 1996 by Boyd, Sheu and Qi from three gorgonians. Their skeleton was previously found in quadranes produced by the terrestrial fungus Aspergillus terreus. Up to date, eleven suberosanes are described from which (-)-suberosanone and (-)-suberosenol A are reaching the picomolar cytotoxicity level on human solid tumors cell lines. Due to their impressive cytotoxic properties and their limited availability, we undertook an asymmetric synthesis of the most active members of this family in order to get insight into their absolute configurations and their biological properties. The challenge of their synthesis is the regio- and stereoselective elaboration of the compact bridged tricyclic skeleton with up to five all adjacent asymmetric centers, including a central quaternary carbon one. Our strategy is based on an aza-ene-synthesis key step which is regio-and stereo-controlled by the choice of a chiral amine enantiomer. it approach is concise and flexible, the enantiopur ABC tricyclic intermediate that have been synthesized being the common precursor of suberosanes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suberosanes" title="suberosanes">suberosanes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20synthesis" title=" asymmetric synthesis"> asymmetric synthesis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sesquiterpenes" title=" sesquiterpenes"> sesquiterpenes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quadranes" title=" quadranes"> quadranes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172533/asymmetric-synthesis-and-biological-study-of-suberosanes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172533.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">92</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1512</span> High-Dose-Rate Brachytherapy for Cervical Cancer: The Effect of Total Reference Air Kerma on the Results of Single-Channel and Tri-Channel Applicators</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hossain%20A.">Hossain A.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miah%20S."> Miah S.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ray%20P.%20K."> Ray P. Total reference air kerma (TRAK) and treatment outcomes in high-dose-rate brachytherapy for cervical cancer using single-channel and tri-channel applicators were the main objectives of this retrospective study. Material and Methods: Patients in the radiotherapy division who received brachytherapy, chemotherapy, and external radiotherapy (EBRT) using single and tri-channel applicators were the subjects of a retrospective cohort study from 2016 to 2020. All brachytherapy parameters, including TRAK, were calculated in accordance with the international protocol. The Kaplan Meier method was used to analyze survival rates using a log-rank test. Results and Discussions: Based on treatment times of 15.34 (10-20) days and 21.35 (6.5-28) days, the TRAK for the tri-channel applicator was 0.52 cGy.m² and for the single-channel applicator was 0.34 cGy.m². Based on TRAK, the rectum, bladder, and tumor had respective Pearson correlations of 0.082, 0.009, and 0.032. The 1-specificity and sensitivity were 0.70 and 0.30, respectively. At that time, AUC was 0.71. The log-rank test showed that tri-channel applicators had a survival rate of 95% and single-channel applicators had a survival rate of 85% (p=0.565). Conclusions: The relationship between TRAK and treatment duration and Pearson correlation for the tumor, rectum, and bladder suggests that TRAK should be taken into account for the proper operation of single channel and tri-channel applicators. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single-channel" title="single-channel">single-channel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tri-channel" title=" tri-channel"> tri-channel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20dose%20rate%20brachytherapy" title=" high dose rate brachytherapy"> high dose rate brachytherapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cervical%20cancer" title=" cervical cancer"> cervical cancer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153993/high-dose-rate-brachytherapy-for-cervical-cancer-the-effect-of-total-reference-air-kerma-on-the-results-of-single-channel-and-tri-channel-applicators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153993.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">101</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1511</span> Numerical Buckling of Composite Cylindrical Shells under Axial Compression Using Asymmetric Meshing Technique (AMT)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zia%20R.%20Tahir">Zia R. AMT is considered to be a new perturbation method to introduce disturbance without changing geometry, boundary conditions or loading conditions. Asymmetric meshing affects both predicted buckling load and buckling mode shapes. Cylindrical shell having lay-up orientation [0°/+45°/-45°/0°] with radius to thickness ratio (R/t) equal to 265 and length to radius ratio (L/R) equal to 1.5 is analysed numerically. A series of numerical simulations (experiments) are carried out with symmetric and asymmetric meshing to study the effect of asymmetric meshing on predicted buckling behaviour. Asymmetric meshing technique is employed in both axial direction and circumferential direction separately using two different methods, first by changing the shell element size and varying the total number elements, and second by varying the shell element size and keeping total number of elements constant. The results of linear analysis (Eigenvalue analysis) and non-linear analysis (Riks analysis) using symmetric meshing agree well with analytical results. The results of numerical analysis are presented in form of non-dimensional load factor, which is the ratio of buckling load using asymmetric meshing technique to buckling load using symmetric meshing technique. Using AMT, load factor has about 2% variation for linear eigenvalue analysis and about 2% variation for non-linear Riks analysis. The behaviour of load end-shortening curve for pre-buckling is same for both symmetric and asymmetric meshing but for asymmetric meshing curve behaviour in post-buckling becomes extraordinarily complex. The major conclusions are: different methods of AMT have small influence on predicted buckling load and significant influence on load displacement curve behaviour in post buckling; AMT in axial direction and AMT in circumferential direction have different influence on buckling load and load displacement curve in post-buckling. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CFRP%20composite%20cylindrical%20shell" title="CFRP composite cylindrical shell">CFRP composite cylindrical shell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20meshing%20technique" title=" asymmetric meshing technique"> asymmetric meshing technique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=primary%20buckling" title=" primary buckling"> primary buckling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=secondary%20buckling" title=" secondary buckling"> secondary buckling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20eigenvalue%20analysis" title=" linear eigenvalue analysis"> linear eigenvalue analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-linear%20riks%20analysis" title=" non-linear riks analysis"> non-linear riks analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16401/numerical-buckling-of-composite-cylindrical-shells-under-axial-compression-using-asymmetric-meshing-technique-amt" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16401.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">353</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1510</span> Channel Estimation for LTE Downlink</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashi%20Jain">Rashi Jain</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The LTE systems employ Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) as the multiple access technology for the Downlink channels. For enhanced performance, accurate channel estimation is required. Various algorithms such as Least Squares (LS), Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and Recursive Least Squares (RLS) can be employed for the purpose. The paper proposes channel estimation algorithm based on Kalman Filter for LTE-Downlink system. Using the frequency domain pilots, the initial channel response is obtained using the LS criterion. Then Kalman Filter is employed to track the channel variations in time-domain. To suppress the noise within a symbol, threshold processing is employed. The paper draws comparison between the LS, MMSE, RLS and Kalman filter for channel estimation. The parameters for evaluation are Bit Error Rate (BER), Mean Square Error (MSE) and run-time. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LTE" title="LTE">LTE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channel%20estimation" title=" channel estimation"> channel estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OFDM" title=" OFDM"> OFDM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RLS" title=" RLS"> RLS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kalman%20filter" title=" Kalman filter"> Kalman filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=threshold" title=" threshold"> threshold</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9169/channel-estimation-for-lte-downlink" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9169.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">356</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1509</span> Modelling the Dynamics of Corporate Bonds Spreads with Asymmetric GARCH Models</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S%C3%A9lima%20Baccar">Sélima Baccar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ephraim%20Clark"> Ephraim Clark</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper can be considered as a new perspective to analyse credit spreads. A comprehensive empirical analysis of conditional variance of credit spreads indices is performed using various GARCH models. Based on a comparison between traditional and asymmetric GARCH models with alternative functional forms of the conditional density, we intend to identify what macroeconomic and financial factors have driven daily changes in the US Dollar credit spreads in the period from January 2011 through January 2013. The results provide a strong interdependence between credit spreads and the explanatory factors related to the conditions of interest rates, the state of the stock market, the bond market liquidity and the exchange risk. The empirical findings support the use of asymmetric GARCH models. The AGARCH and GJR models outperform the traditional GARCH in credit spreads modelling. We show, also, that the leptokurtic Student-t assumption is better than the Gaussian distribution and improves the quality of the estimates, whatever the rating or maturity. <p
