FY21 marked a further consolidation of Matrix’s positioning in the Brazilian renewable energy market with the project’s approval to develop the first-generation plant owned by the company. The project comprises three photovoltaic power systems, which will be able, when fully operational, to generate over 185 GWh per year.</p> <p>Within the Group, energy trading activities are carried out also by Duferco Energia, whose main activities concern portfolio management, trading and market analysis. In addition, it provided <a href="https://www.elettracarsharing.com/en/home-page/" title="Elettra Car Sharing">Elettra</a>, a 100% electric car sharing in Genoa. Today’s fleet comprises 160 full-electric cars, which can be booked through the classic “station-based” rental formula or with the new “free floating” mode. The storm destroyed fourteen million trees in the Alpine valleys of Lombardy, Trentino, Veneto, and Friuli. Vaia is the largest single windstorm event recorded in Italy. The storm hit some of the most beautiful and richest forests in Italy located in the Dolomites Mountains.</p> <p>In this scenario, Duferco Biomasse stepped forward and was awarded one of the largest lots made available by the maxi tender published by the Municipalities: the collection of about 360 thousand cubic meters of wood, thus creating the largest forestry site in Italy and the largest for the company so far. This activity has led the company to diversify its business, starting a timber trade with some Asian countries and making a signifificant contribution to the management of the forests in the area hardly hit by the storm.</p> <p>Duferco intervention also has an impact from a biodiversity perspective.
