To study <span class="foreign notranslate">The History of the Four Kings</span> (1760, compare French <span class="foreign notranslate">Livres des Quatre Rois</span>) contains an old euphemistic slang phrase for "a pack of cards," from the time when card-playing was considered a wicked pastime for students.
