The main cause of global climate change is global warming or an increase in the earth's average temperature due to the greenhouse gas effect caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gas emissions in the Earth's atmosphere. Buildings consume 36% of energy produced, and are responsible for 39% of global carbon emissions, making it the largest contributing sector to climate change.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> </p><p>In the efforts to decarbonise the building sector, GBC Indonesia participates in WorldGBC's global project working towards total sector decarbonisation by 2050, namely Advancing Net Zero. GBC Indonesia is committed to developing a net zero certification program according to the Indonesian context by developing <strong>GREENSHIP Net Zero rating tool</strong> and conducting training and education on net zero to the public and the young generation as well as involving corporate and government in promoting net zero in Indonesia.</p><p> </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>The basic principle of implementing a net zero building is to optimize the design of the building in such a way that it can reduce the need for energy consumption per year as low as possible so that the energy supply can rely entirely on renewable energy systems. In addition, the spaces quality should be managed by the designer and building management so that meet the standard for health and comfort for occupants inside.</p><p><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Why Net Zero</strong></p><p><br></p><p>We care about our Indonesia, we care about our only one earth. </p><p>We believe that Indonesia has no future if the place where we stand is not land but water, because there are floods everywhere. </p><p>We believe that Indonesia has no future if water becomes difficult to find, due to frequent drought. </p><p>We believe that Indonesia has no future if flora and fauna do not exist. </p><p class="ql-align-justify">Climate change can be felt and it is real.</p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p><p>The IPCC in its report states that global emissions must reach net-zero around the middle of this century to reach the global warming target below 1.5oC. Besides this, Here is President Joko Widodo's statement at the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP) 21 on November 30, 2015.</p><p><br></p><p><em> "Indonesia is committed to reducing carbon emissions by up to 29% below business as usual in 2030 and 41% with international assistance"</em></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify">Responding to these issues and as part of the World Green Building Council which has launched the Net Zero Advancing Program, Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) has developed GREENSHIP Net Zero to transform all buildings with zero emissions by taking steps:</p><p>1. Passive design approach. Use of natural ventilation and natural lighting.</p><p>2. Active design approach. Optimization of the performance of air conditioning systems, lighting and other equipments.</p><p>3. Healthy and comfortable environment. Creating healthy and comfortable air quality in the building.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">4. Renewable energy onsite, offsite, and offset. Reducing emissions from building operations by utilizing renewable energy with zero emissions.</p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p> </div> <div class="div-nzh" id="div-1"> <p><strong>Rating Tools And Certification Scheme GREENSHIP Net Zero</strong></p> <br> <p><strong>GREENSHIP Net Zero (NZ)</strong></p> <br> <p>A certification system that assesses the performances of buildings to energy efficient building criteria and neutralizes annual carbon emissions from building operations through the use of onsite, offsite, and offset renewable energy. The assessment of GREENSHIP NZ can apply to new and existing buildings, and to a variety of building typologies. The prerequisite scope assessed includes:</p> <ul> <li>1. Fulfillment of the quality of comfort in the building.</li> <li>2. Energy usage intensity (EUI) of a building is efficient.</li> <li>3. Action to reduce carbon emissions, beyond the applications of renewable energy.</li> </ul> <br> <p>GREENSHIP NZ is structured in a concise form which consists of check-points per criteria, so that the valuation method of NZ buildings is easier and simpler.</p> <br> <p><strong>GREENSHIP NZ calculation methodology</strong></p> <p>To determine the achievement of the certification level, the following 4 parameters must be assessed.</p> <br> <p><strong>Certification Level: Net Zero Ready</strong></p> <ul> <li>1. Fulfillment of Energy Usage Intensity (EUI) standards and comfort standards.</li> <li>2. Renewable Energy onsite fulfills 1 of 3 schemes.</li> <li>3. Building Monitoring System application for monitoring building systems.</li> <li>4. Delivering a 'carbon balanced' (Renewable Energy and/or carbon offsets) implementation plan.</li> </ul> <br> <p><strong>Certification Level: Net Zero Certified</strong></p> <ul> <li>1.
