style="white-space:pre-wrap;">CIMT’s driving mission is to promote the development of cancer immunotherapy. Fundamental to ensuring the success of this field is the education of the next generation of translational scientists.  Given that translational science as a discipline is not yet a component of many graduate schools, we identified an educational gap that CIMT was exceptionally qualified to fill. We are delighted to offer a different, yet invaluable learning experience to this part of our community in the form of the CIMT Academy of Translational Cancer Immunology and its flagship platform, the Winter/Summer School for Early Career Scientists. </p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong>Mission</strong></span></p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The CIMT Academy of Translational Immunology was founded to offer a learning and dissemination platform dedicated solely to our developing membership.  Specifically, the mission of the Academy is to promote excellence in translational cancer immunology research and scholarship among early career scientists, by:</p><ul data-rte-list="default"><li><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Teaching the principles of translational cancer immunology, including insight from faculty experience in academia, clinical practice and industry</p></li><li><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Offering exceptional learning and networking opportunities outside of the canonical association-hosted meeting model</p></li></ul><ul data-rte-list="default"><li><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Working with Academy faculty and alumni and other stakeholders to build a sustainable and self-driving translational immunotherapy community as a resource, and fueled by early career researchers</p></li></ul><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"> </p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong>CIMT Winter/Summer School for Early Career Scientists</strong></span></p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The CIMT Winter/Summer School for Early Career Scientists is the CIMT Academy’s flagship event. Via its small size, the Winter/Summer School is designed to offer participants an extraordinary development experience among peers and leaders in a beautiful setting. The relaxed, yet comprehensive program and involvement of supportive leaders in the field provide participants with one-on-one learning and networking opportunities. </p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The first CIMT Winter School took place at the ski resort of Obergurgl in Austria in January of 2019. The 2nd CIMT Winter School was planned to take place at Axamer Lizum in Austria in March of 2020 but had to be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In 2022, CIMT hosted its first Summer School in Illasi, Italy in collaboration with the Universita di Verona PhD School in Life and Health Sciences and NIBIT.</p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In 2024, the <a href="https://www.cimt.eu/winter-school">Winter School</a> again took place in Obergurgl, Austria from January 25-28. </p><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The second CIMT Summer School, organized in collaboration with the Champalimaud Foundation, took place in Palmela, Portugal, September 15-18, 2024.
